The Chesterfield Mayfair

"Spanning three Georgian townhouses, this Mayfair hotel in Berkeley Square sits right in the middle of it all, with designer shopping on Bond Street just around the corner. Expect to be greeted by a doorman sporting a top hat before walking into a wood-paneled lobby and sitting area accented with chunky leather armchairs, antiques, and chandeliers. Upstairs, the 107 rooms are decorated with Savile Row pinstripes or gilded black lacquer furniture, and come with soft robes and Elemis bath products. Book a suite to have canapés bought to you each evening, and make sure to have a glass of Champagne with your afternoon tea in the conservatory."

Just come back from a fabulous one night stay at this wonderful hotel. This truly is a 5 Star establishment. Nicole and team are professional, attentive, warm and welcoming. Sem’s Bar was enchanting with fabulous cocktails and exemplary service. The cuisine in Butlers restaurant was delicious as was breakfast the following morning with excellent service again. Our bedroom decor was chic with plenty of wardrobe space and drawers, and a lovely bathroom. There are many lovely hotels in the centre of London but my husband and I both agree that you would find it difficult to beat the Mayfair Chesterfield. We will be back!

Lovely little hotel. Very well decorated and clean. Staff were helpful. Only spent one night there so hard to judge for longer stay. Location is fantastic. Unfortunately as some current reviewers have previously stated they have building works being carried out and covered scaffolding is on the outside of the building for a new roof terrace, which I'm sure will be very amazing when done. View was impacted and a little dark. Rooms a little on the small size but nicely decorated and the use of mirrors on walls makes rooms look slightly bigger than they are. Hotel ambience feels a little sophisticated. Didn't have a chance to try any facilities. Food and drink seemed to be priced very competitively given it is Mayfair.

We had a wonderful weekend at The Chesterfield, made all the more memorable by the hotel’s charm and hospitality. Our junior suite was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed, and extremely comfortable, combined with the hotel’s great location, a perfect base for both us and our little Chihuahua.||||The hotel is exceptionally dog friendly, with a delicious fresh food menu just for dogs. Our Chihuahua happily tucked into the fresh chicken and vegetables, though options also included rice with beef or fish options. Dog beds and bowls were thoughtfully provided in the room, making it feel like a home from home. With Berkeley Square just at the end of the road and Green Park less than five minutes’ walk away, it was ideal for those needed quick strolls or longer walks through Green Park to Hyde Park.||||The bar was elegant yet relaxed, with a welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. Whether you’re after a light bite, a cocktail, or simply a quiet drink, it’s a lovely place to unwind. The live pianist/singer on Saturday evening was very enjoyable and with a nightcap after dinner was the perfect way to round off our evening.||||Finally, a special mention to the all the staff who were all extremely friendly, attentive and could not do enough to help you. They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. Thank you :)||||We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

I can't say this is one of the best hotels in London, nor does it at all resemble the photos in the summary. Although the service is outstanding, and the breakfast was wonderful, the reality is that this hotel is currently sheathed in plastic and scaffolding, and sleeping here was like being inside a Ziplock bag. |Not only was my postage stamp-sized room incredibly expensive, but the window simply opened to a scaffold and a plastic sheet--zero view to be had. Although I appreciate how nice the staff are, it doesn't excuse the poor room nor the renovations, and that just makes it a run-of-the-mill hotel for me. Not acceptable for one of the most expensive stays I have had in a long time.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Chesterfield Mayfair, and I must say, my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the professionalism and courtesy of the staff were evident. Each team member I encountered was not only helpful but also genuinely kind, making me feel warmly welcomed throughout my stay. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, combining classic elegance with modern comforts, truly reflecting the charm of Mayfair. The attention to detail in the decor is commendable, creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere. One standout feature for me was the bed—it is undoubtedly one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I enjoyed restful nights, which made my stay all the more enjoyable. Additionally, the air-conditioning worked perfectly, ensuring a pleasant and climate-controlled environment throughout my visit. Overall, I highly recommend the Chesterfield Mayfair to anyone looking for a delightful stay in one of London's most prestigious areas. The combination of beautiful surroundings, exceptional service, and outstanding comfort makes it a true gem. I look forward to returning in the future!

Google
What a truly fabulous experience. I stayed in The Chesterfield with my daughter last week for a short trip. I normally stay on the other side of London at the Westminster bridge side and I thought it was a good location. It was but my goodness Mayfair is SO much better. As for The Chesterfield - everything about it was phenomenal. From the moment we entered, throughout our entire stay, the staff could not do enough to help. The level of attention to detail was excellent. The cleanliness was excellent. The details in the bathrooms elevate it above and beyond - underfloor heating and old school Armitage Shanks taps and shower heads. Face cloths (unusual these days) and the little extras such as shower caps were appreciated. Each member of staff said hello whether we were simply in the hotel of entering or leaving. The rooms are small, but that's standard for London. We loved The Chesterfield and will return again soon.

Google
I've been to The Chesterfield twice for cocktails. Both times had different staff behind the bar and on table service, but both times the service and quality were fantastic, which is a really great sign. I asked for a cocktail that wasn't on the menu and they happily obliged, and it was made perfectly. The surroundings and atmosphere couldn't be better.

Despite a few drawbacks, my stay at The Chesterfield Mayfair in London was a genuinely pleasant experience, largely thanks to the outstanding staff. While the room—even for single occupancy—was quite small (not unusual for central London, I admit, however we talk 4-star level) and the soundproofing left something to be desired, the warm and attentive service more than made up for it. The view from my room was unfortunately obscured by nearby construction and scaffolding, which was a letdown ( I got offered 1 free drink at the bar..in hindsight I should have negotiated better). However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the exceptional hospitality. From the moment I arrived, the doorman and porter were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The reception team was equally gracious and efficient, ensuring a smooth check-in and offering thoughtful assistance throughout my stay including my special needs as I arrived by bicycle...! The same level of attentiveness extended to the breakfast room and bar staff, who not only provided excellent service but remembered my preferences from the very next day—a detail that speaks volumes about the personalized care offered here. All in all, while the physical space had its limitations, the service at The Chesterfield Mayfair was exemplary. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a high level of hospitality in the heart of London.

Yelp
I stayed here for three nights and had a better experience than a 5-star hotel. It was a rocky start at first because my flight arrived at 6 am but couldn't check in until 2 pm due to their checkout times. But during that time they securely stored our bags and made sure they were in our room once it freed up. They also allowed us to sit in their restaurant area and entrance area without purchasing anything. Once you walk into the hotel, a doorman opens the door for you and you walk into the most aesthetically amazing room followed by endless beautiful rooms. The front desk was great as well. Regardless of how many people are at the desk they all greet you and ask if you need any service. The elevators and rooms are on the smaller side but I personally feel like it added great character and didn't lessen the experience whatsoever. Some customers receive free breakfast with their reservations and the employees in the restaurant triple-check this to make sure nobody will have any surprise bills. The food and service there was great also. The location of the hotel is perfect, within close walking distance of any public transportation. There is also a market nearby for any food or goods you might need. Important note: at the end of your stay you will receive a discretionary charge of 15 gbp for each day you stay that will go to the staff. I have no problem with tipping staff, but I wish I knew this as I tipped throughout my stay as well and it would've helped with budgeting. If you are uncomfortable with the charge, they offer to take it off. This place was so great I would come here for all of my London trips.

Yelp
Read about the afternoon tea in a best place for tea article- we stopped by noon but was told no space until 3 pm so we made a reservation on the spot.returned around 2:30 pm and it was nice to be seated early. Service was definitely great. Hashim was excellent - attentive and kind. Our first afternoon tea experience - had say the savory sandwiches tasted better - not a big sweets fun. The scones are great as well with cream and jam. Refills are included but really can't fit in more - relatively rich. A cart full of candies to pick - as it's the sweatshop after all. A big draw for kids and kids at heart. One minor suggestion - we ordered dragon well tea - Chinese tradition on the tea - is relatively light - I personally would prefer to have less tea leaves per pot. . About 1/2 of current serving.

Yelp
This is a review for the afternoon tea only, it does not apply to the rest of the hotel / restaurants at The Chesterfield. However, I unfortunately must admit that I wasn't too impressed with the Chesterfield's afternoon tea so I am not sure if I will return to explore their other offerings. Main reason for this was the service. Despite our advanced booking and the restaurant being relatively quiet during our late afternoon visit, the service was inefficient and not very engaging. For example, my repeated requests for water, particularly necessary due to a cough, went unfulfilled, despite asking for it three times. Additionally, we had to wave down the staff several times when we had a request. In addition, I wasn't too impressed with the food: the scones and sandwiches were satisfactory but the pastries fell short, especially for the price point. However, on a positive note, I must commend the impressive selection of teas. The quality of the tea served was excellent and was a highlight of the experience. Furthermore, the atmosphere and decor of the hotel created a nice ambiance. In a city like London, especially in the Mayfair area, where there's a plethora of options for afternoon tea, my inclination to return to The Chesterfield is limited. While there were positive aspects, the overall experience didn't quite meet the expectations.

Yelp
I have been to a lot of high teas all over the world, and many in London. This one was right up there as one of my favorites! I loved the scones and clotted cream, the sandwiches were yummy (salmon, egg, cucumber, and chicken), and all the desserts- fabulous. The teas were delicious, and I love that you can try as many teas as you want. I had several types of jasmine, my friend had a ginger tea. My sister had hot chocolate. If you don't like tea, you can have champagne, coffee, hot chocolate or a milkshake!!! AND they refill any of the scones, sandwiches, or pastries if you want. I mean they give you a lot, believe me, but if you want more, they bring it! The candy at the end was also a special touch. The atrium is beautiful. The service was great! Our friend had never been to a high tea, and I am glad this was her first experience. It is special and priced well! We will return to the Chesterfield next time we are in London for the Sweet Shop!

Yelp
On a lark, selected this hotel from just a remote web search. I knew it was nice, but I thought it was a bit kitschy. When I arrived the lobby just looked opulent and luxurious. The doorman was exceptional (even recommended a superb coffee shop) and the check in was impressive. Even upgraded us from a Junior Suite to an Executive Suite that was beyond belief. Instead of being over the top, we just felt like royalty. A dining area, a work nook, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom made it larger than my first apartment! Each space was a bit small, but together it was magnificent and huge. Loved all the quirky light switches and CAUTION with the shower. Three unlabeled dials made it hilarious when the cold water jetted straight at me while standing outside of the shower and iceberg cold. Eventually I figured it out and it was one of the best showers EVER: instant heat and fire hose above my head (I'm tall) when dialed up. The bed was just about perfect. Maybe even too large if something like that can exist. Overall this is one of the best rooms/suites that I've stayed in across many past years.

Yelp
As much as it breaks my heart to downgrade my rating of this hotel to 4 stars, I feel The Chesterfield Mayfair has lost that personal touch that used to set it apart from its peers. I used to consider this hotel my London "home away from home", and looked forward to the greetings of "welcome back!" from both the doorman and the front desk staff when I arrived. Now, on my last 2 visits, instead of "welcome back", I was greeted with "have you stayed with us before?" when checking in. Ummmm, yes. I've been staying here for 10+ years, so that is a bit soul-crushing. Also, gone are the days of a sweet handwritten note for a celebratory stay like a birthday. Now it's a pre-printed card. Nice, but certainly not that extra touch of personalized service that The Chesterfield Mayfair used to bring to the table. The one shining bright spot of service remains Christine and the housekeeping team. Rooms are always fresh and clean, staff is friendly and warm, and if you happen to have a favorite biscuit from the in-room tea service, they will make sure they are stocked for your enjoyment! Cheers to that! But, that being said, The Chesterfield Mayfair is certainly in a lovely neighborhood for first-time visitors to London. It's walking distance to many tourist sites, and is convenient to many bus and underground lines. The number of nearby restaurants continues to grow, and you can't beat the shopping, if that's your thing! And both the beds and the showers....heavenly!!

Yelp
The staff at The Chesterfield Mayfair lead a master class in hospitality. Arriving in the early morning after an all night flight I expected no more than an offer of stowing my bags for the many hours until check-in. Instead, I was offered my room - at around 9 a.m. Fresh cappuccino were also offered, and served with a warm welcome in the lobby. The way I was made to feel here, with every single staff interaction, was nothing short of special. Unlike the US, a "resort fee" isn't slapped onto a hotel stay here. But they do add a 10% gratuity into your bill while explaining that paying such is entirely optional. If you're spent by the evening, the bar is a nice experience. A stiff drink, complimentary nibbles, and a singing piano player make the experience worth a stop. Being somewhat price conscious, I opted for the least expensive room here and it didn't include breakfast. What I got for my money was a small, nicely appointed room but not a room you'd wish to spend much time in, mostly due to its size. Still, I'd rather stay in a small room in Mayfair than a large room elsewhere in town. The Chesterfield Mayfair offers a very popular afternoon tea and is a very short walk to Berkeley Square and Hyde Park. I only spent a single night here but location, hospitality, and the special feeling I got just walking into this intimate hotel were such that I'd happily choose it again were I heading to London and in need of short-term lodging.

Yelp
We did high tea at the Chesterfield to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were a party of nine. It was fantastic! Service was attentive. Food was delicious. The tea selection - I had the chocolate tea - WOW! So good! We loved celebrating with such a unique experience. It's a must do when in London!!

Yelp
Just checked out of this lovely hotel beautifully located in Mayfair. The place is old world charming and beautifully kept up. Terrific accommodating staff. Josefz was particularly welcoming and always super helpful. The breakfasts are excellent. The linens are top notch. My only caveat was my room. Way too tight--e.g., the desk chair couldn't by extricated because of the narrowness of the pass through. And the side chair was surely the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in. In essence there was no comfortable place to sit other than in the luxurious bed. And no luggage rack in the room. Front desk suggested I stay in a tower room next time. Next time? Maybe.

Yelp
To celebrate my 70th birthday my wife and I decided to take a trip to London. We haven't been here for 25 years. Our stay at The Chesterfield has been exceptional. The location is great for shopping and to visit historic sites. The staff could not be more helpful or friendlier. Everyone at the hotel is extremely positive and makes an all out effort to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay . We added a breakfast option to our room and it also has been wonderful every day - the service and food are both unsurpassed ! Our son-in-law is in London on business . Instead of going out to a restaurant we invited him to join us here for cocktails and dinner. All three of us tried the Dover Sole which was exceptional . I wanted to also mention that the staff sent pastries chocolate and a coupon for drinks at the hotel bar to our room for my birthday . A very nice personal touch which you rarely see in hotels today . The decor of the this 15 century building is also beautiful and the room is extremely comfortable. FIVE Stars I highly recommend this hotel!

Yelp
First time travelling to London through a Costco trip. Have to say stayed at a ton of hotels but this is one of the best. The hotel is super charming and over 100 years old but modernized in a way that was perfect. Best part is the staff is the most friendly hotel staff I have ever met. One hotel clerk almost ran to take our luggage. 100% recommend.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this hotel was so British. The detail to rooms and service was phenomenal. Great food, and lovely staff, extremely attentive and friendly. My mom wants to give a special shout out to Peter from the front desk for going above and beyond helping her navigate the tube. I highly recommend staying here.

Yelp
We had such a lovely time! Our first time in London and I took the kids as we love afternoon tea. Tanjib (I hope I spelled this correctly, he's in the picture) he was lovely and chatted with us and was so helpful. The sandwiches and the scones were our favorite, dessert was too sweet for me, but if you have a sweet tooth, then you'll like this. Then you also get to pick out bags of candy to go. The kids really loved that! I think the price was reasonable, it's similar to what I would pay where I live in Colorado.

Yelp
REVIEW FOR SWEETSHOP AFTERNOON TEA: Holy wow, this is an incredible experience. A first-class afternoon tea, with all the delightful little sandwiches, scones, and sweets you'd hope for. The servers are excellent, extremely accommodating, and go well out of their way to try make you feel comfortable, welcome, and excited. The sweetshop afternoon tea, like the Willy Wonka afternoon tea before it, are expressly designed to bring out the child in you. They are family-friendly, with kids' options at a lower price point, but the target audience is definitely nostalgic adults. The quality of service, mile-long list of tea options, and masterfully-crafted sandwiches+scones would already be enough to earn this tea experience 5 stars, but the Chesterfield Mayfair doesn't stop there. Throughout the experience (and it really is more an experience than just a meal), there are fun little surprises. I won't spoil too much, but from the time you sit down, you can expect an out-of-this-world treat *wink wink*. My favorites were the salmon-dill sandwich on beetroot bread, the plain scones with clotted cream, and the coca-cola slice (a bit like a naked eclair, but Coke flavored). And, of course, you can get as many refills of your favorites as you want. This is an experience meant to be taken slow and savored.

Yelp
LOVED OUR STAY!! What a perfect hotel in a perfect location! We love the Mayfair neighborhood in London and have now found our new hotel! Welcoming warm staff always ready to make your stay the best they can! The Terrace Bar was perfect for a nice snack and cocktail anytime of the day and the Restaurant is delicious! Can't wait to come back!!

Yelp
We had afternoon tea at The Chesterfield on our last day in London, and even with so many other days of wonderful experiences at such a beautiful time in London around the holidays, this was one of our top memories from the trip. Every single person we encountered was so nice and accommodating and really went out of their way to make the experience feel special, and they were so excellent with including our 1.5 year old in the experience. It's rare to find places that are both so beautiful and so sweet with children, but this is that place. highly recommend!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. We stayed here for our honeymoon and they made us feel welcomed immediately. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. The breakfast was amazing every morning, you can order whatever you'd like. We had a couple dinners there also, which was also amazing. The hotel is in a very wealthy area where you will see Aston Martins and Rolls Royces' on every corner. There is a park right down the street also, which is nice to sit at if you want to grab a sandwich from a shop nearby for lunch. I'd recommend this hotel to everyone and anyone. Very welcoming and the hotel has a lot of character.

Yelp
*For Tea Experience* Loved the setting and service of the tea. Everything was delicious and my server was amazing. My only complaint was there was a couple of moms with kids from the local area, obviously VERY wealthy. The kids were running around, screaming, and just ruining the environment. The moms didn't care about their kids behavior and kept talking. At one point the moms were encouraging the daughters to continue running and playing hide and seek. There were plenty of other kids in the tea their age who were not behaving that way. I get it.. kids will be kids.. but this was beyond that. I wish a manager would have stepped up and told the moms their children's behavior is unacceptable. Kids shouldn't be running around tables, playing hide and seek and screaming in the tea room.... Keep in mind it's not like they were 3 years old. These girls looked 7-8 years old!! Maybe they were scared to tell them because of their obvious high social class. I hope if this happens again hotel management steps in.. it's not right to ruin the experience for everyone else!!!

Yelp
We booked tea for nine of us following the festivities at Buckingham Palace on Friday, June 2, for the Queen's Jubilee. We were ushered into the large round table at the center of the restaurant to be wined and dined until we were all perfectly sated. We filled ourselves with all the delicious tea sandwiches and pastries that we could manage. One of the great attractions for our group was the availability of three separate menus--the regular, the vegetarian, and the vegan. Among our group that varied in age from 8 to 75, we availed ourselves of all three. Everyone was thrilled with our choices of tea, sandwiches, and desserts. We were invited to order more of whatever we liked best, and we did! When we all were stuffed, we were invited to fill bags from a beautiful assorted sweets cart to take home. The servers were so attentive, they made us feel like royalty. Thank you to the Chesterfield Mayfair staff for making our "once in a lifetime" day even more special!

Yelp
Stayed here for 9 days. We had a "superior" room and found it to be sufficient in size with excellent amenities. The details of this property are not to be overlooked, but celebrated, as so few properties go to such effort. The lobby bar is the absolute BEST. Great people, great food and great champagne by the glass. They turn even a simple club sandwich into a fantastic meal. We ended every day here (and began a few too) and just loved it. When you stay at a property for 9 days and say upon leaving that we can't wait to stay here again, that says it all. Huge kudos to everyone there, the desk staff, doorman staff, housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, etc. You do The Chesterfield Mayfair proud. THANK YOU!!

Yelp
I just adore this little hotel, though the front desk could be a little less stuffy for my taste. I've stayed here twice and each time, given the early morning flight, I've come in dressed like .... I just got off a redeye, in my sweats, tired, in need of a change of clothes, and the hotel folks aren't very friendly about letting me park my luggage in the lobby while I freshen up and change, as the room isn't ready yet. That said, it's a charming historic spot, with each room decorated slightly differently, but always with style. I like the little touches -- the single red carnation, the hand painted headboards, the rose-scented bath salts. It's also tucked away nicely in Mayfair, a stone's throw from some of the best pubs, cocktail spots, and restaurants in town. This place is really worth the treat. The breakfast downstairs though is pretty skippable, at least the made-to-order eggs and the like. As for the hotel bar, it's really for the older crowd so well worth skipping.

Yelp
Fantastic afternoon tea! Great tea selection, whimsical ambiance, and tasty pastries. The service was phenomenal all around - we had an especially good experience with Richard and Melina. Although its a bit on the pricier side, this was a top-notch afternoon tea experience I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I stayed here in October for my first time visiting London. I absolutely love this hotel and will stay here again next time I visit. It was our anniversary and we splurged to stay in the Jungle Suite. A large, sexy room with a leopard rug and gorgeous black chandelier. A delicious cake was waiting for us upon arrival - nice touch. We loved the bar which served gourmet cocktails with live piano jazz. Dinner at the restaurant was a nice introduction to British food with delicious meat pies. And the location is the absolute best! So many good walks from here. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Came here for the willy wonka afternoon tea experience. It was absolutely amazing! My sister and I ate until we were almost like Violet and needed to be rolled out. Ok, well not really. But they will bring you more of the dish you want. For us we fell in love with the scones! They were amazing. I also really enjoyed the chocolate tea. They start you off with a cute fizzy lifting drink. Then bring out the trays of food. All with the willy wonka theme. The service is amazing. They come around to put the napkins on your lap. Which my sister was floored by. I put a note on my reservation that it was my sister's 1st time to London. They acknowledged that and even addressed her by name. Which was fantastic. They also brought her a special dessert to celebrate her. As previous folks have mentioned there is a kids plate and the adults get the tower. However, in my case I didn't care for the finger sandwiches at all. So honestly would have been fine without them. All the items were very fresh. I did bring a few of my own items from home to complete the Willy Wonka theme. I made large and mini wonka bars and brought some gobsstoppers. They offer milk shakes/hot chocolate if your kids don't want tea. Treats on the plates were many to choose from, scones, macaroons, eclairs, cupcakes, tarts, etc. Each one better than the last. At the end of our meal they did let us box up our left overs. They also brought out lollipops and a hat to choose a "golden ticket" which was a 25% off voucher for another visit. The total experience is about 2 hours, shorter if you wish. But thoroughly enjoyable.

Yelp
A very British old hotel in the heart of Mayfair. We chose the Chesterfield for its proximity to Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Knightsbridge, Piccadilly Sq, etc The rooms are fairly small but comfortable. There are plenty of wall plugs for electronics, a desk to work on your laptop, a flat screen tv (about as big as one could fit). There was no refrigerator which is kind of a must these days. The room was very bright with two large windows (not much of a view though) which made it feel light and spacious even with the low 7 1/2' ceilings. The bathroom is always key to me for making a stay as comfortable as possible. The shower is very narrow and you must climb into a deep sided tub to get in, which could make it difficult for the elderly. It has both a rain overhead shower head, which was only a few inches above my head, with great flow, pressure and temperature. There was also a hand held head which was great. If it were a door wider, it couldn't get any better. It has one of those strange British half shower doors which I suppose is needed to give enough room when the shower is very narrow (as most seem to be). The continental breakfast buffet has a huge selection of breakfast items and everything was very good. There is a full breakfast menu as well should you want eggs or additional hot foods. A nice way to start your day. Pros Location, location, location Excellent service Comfortable room and bath Lots of natural light Heated bathroom floor Great towels Cons Slow wifi Narrow shower with low ceiling and deep tub to climb over No in room refrigerator Small tight rooms Depending on what rate you are paying (and it appears they are all over the board), the Chesterfield Mayfair is a very nice choice to explore many of the hot spots in London. It's walking distance from so many places in the West End.

Yelp
Everything about this hotel is 1st class but the rooms are really small. All the staff were extremely kind, helpful and professional

Yelp
We chose the Chesterfield Mayfair because of reviews. We were not disappointed. They upgraded us on arrival to the Dormer Suite. The room was so cool. There were so many amenities that we enjoyed. Heated towel rack, big shower and separate tub. Bath crystals each day. Neospresso (which I loved) and 2 rooms to stretch out and relax. Staff were exceptional. We enjoyed dinner 2 evenings, the hotel restaurant and service were just superb!! Loved our stay. Great location in London!

Yelp
The most amazing Afternoon Tea! I took my mum and sister who were visiting London for the weekend. We managed to find a voucher online for 25% off, but it is so worth the full price regardless. The service we received was exceptional. Each member of staff treated us like royalty, which I really appreciated, especially for my mum to feel pampered. On arrival we were given cranberry lemonade with popping candy in cute little cola bottles, which I loved. Then the food came out, well we were blown away, the Willy Wonka theme was perfect. There were umpa-lumpa cupcakes, Willy Wonka chocolate bars and even a golden egg. The best thing was, the food kept coming! We were offered a refill on all plates of the afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones and cakes. The scones were delicious, especially the chocolate chip scones, which I've never had before. I asked for a refill on those! It was a fabulous experience and I can't wait to go back! When we left we were each given a golden ticket to open on our return when you can win a discount on your bill or a freebie. We were even directed to the pick and mix when we left as a parting gift. I can't recommend this place enough. For Christmas they will be doing a Winter Wonderland theme, which I bet will be fantastic.

Yelp
My favorite hotel in London. Rooms are unique and quiet due to the fabric wallpaper, and the decoration, colors, etc. are all very British. Get the included breakfast, which has hot items (eggs, English breakfast), as well as meats, cheeses, and cereals at the buffet.

Yelp
Another great experience. We always feel welcomed by the staff and the cleanliness of the place. I still believe this is the best hotel I've been to which is because of the staff. They are very helpful and personable. A great location which is close to Buckingham Palace but is a little secluded away from the craziness of London traffic. A walk away from touristy sites but also the option to enjoy a slower pace in the surrounding neighborhood.

Yelp
BEST Location in London, easy walking distance to almost everything, close to the Tube, no street noise at night, this was the quietest street for any hotel I have stayed at yet everything is steps away from Starbucks, restaurants, etc. The staff provides the highest level of service, (umbrellas, adapters, maps, everything you could need). I loved the impressive breakfast in bed each morning at no room service charge. (or you can go to hotel restaurant). Most comfortable beds- duvets, pillows choice at your request.Everything is spotless. You will not want to leave your bed,so comfy. Only a block or 2 to the tube. This is my fave location and place to stay in London.

Yelp
Come with me. And you'll see. A world of our imagination at the Chesterfield Wonka themed tea. We were fortunate enough to book on their last day before winter wonderland during our visit. What a fun theme. Less stuff than some of your other high teas. Scones, finger sandwiches, variety of excellent teas. At this time £36. Kids 16 and 13 loved it since they could relate to it. They didn't eat the finger sandwiches so maybe opt to get just the Oompa Loompa tea. Took our leftover goodies home with us. Friendly staff. Willy Wonka was a delight. Loved the golden tickets and everlasting gobstoppers!

Yelp
The Charlie and the Chesterfield High Tea was delightful. We sat in an airy, bright room with green decor. The tea and treats were all bottomless for no extra charge, and a takeaway box was even offered. The chocolate scones were to die for. This tea is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone of any age!

Yelp
We chose the Chesterfield for afternoon tea and can't say enough good things about the tea and the kindness and generosity of the staff. We've been twice and look forward to more. Our first visit included the very fun Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tea for our youngest and our second visit included options for our vegan. They also gave us a lovely welcome. We called ahead and they were very accommodating. Your tea options are many and the sandwiches are delicious and varied. The salmon was my favorite. I love they even offered us seconds and certainly gave us plenty of time to enjoy. Then there are the sweets to top everything off. I highly recommend and hope to get back in the near future.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here when we booked our trip through Costco. We had a great time! All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and clean. When they found out it was for our anniversary they all congratulated us and then sent a card (signed by members of the staff) and cupcakes! It was a very nice gesture. Overall, great experience, would recommend, and stay again!

Yelp
My kids and I loved our afternoon tea at the Chesterfield. The service was impeccable and the setting is beautiful. My kids loved all the sweets and the candy cart. I gave it four stars because the adult food selection was too sweet for my taste. I would recommend adding more savory items to the adult menu.

Yelp
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea A really nice afternoon tea! The scones are up there with the best i've ever tried. The sandwiches are delicious especially the roast chicken one. I went with friends who didn't eat ham and the staff were very accommodating changing up the menu slightly in order to get a good selection. The teas were also perfect i had the chocolate one! It was charlie and the chocolate factory theme after all, The atmosphere was great with a pianist playing a wide range of genres of music! At the end you even get your own golden ticket! Good for children willy wonka walks around the place to! Don't forget to order extra food as its unlimited!! Pricey but worth every penny. Definitely book in advance.

Yelp
We had afternoon tea here and it was so proper and elegant. The tea I chose was the Chai. It was strong and spicy; just how I like it. The tea sandwiches were delicate and flavorful with the salmon stealing the show. The pastries and desserts were also scrumptious and innovative. It was a great deal because you could have as much of your favorite as you wanted :). Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Yelp
When in town, we always try to sneak a drink in at the bar on the main floor. The place reeks of old classic London and the charm is always welcoming to us. John, the trusty piano player has been there for years and do say hello to him when you come here, he appreciates it. The drinks are expensive but you pay for the ambiance and the service. It's just feels like old London, very quaint.

Yelp
Booked here a few days and I must say I absolutely enjoyed my overall experience here. Beautiful decor, comfortable beds, central location to tourists sites and Harrods shopping ctr.,food is good not great. On a positive note I have to rave about the professionalism and friendliness of the staff, they were wonderful and very efficient, service overall was excellent! Loved the story and history behind the hotel chain. Beautiful carnation decor and flowers all throughout the hotel; you'll understand why carnations are a central chosen floral arrangement picked for the hotel when you read about its' history. Will definitely be back next time I'm in London!

Yelp
The greatest hotel I've stayed at! The rooms are very comfortable with beautiful interior design. Everywhere in this hotel is pleasing!! I feel at home at The Chester Mayfield. Also, it's in the perfect location for people looking to shop and eat at restaurants. The customer service is remarkable and all the staff members are incredibly welcoming. We briefly told the front desk we were celebrating a graduation. The same day we received a knock at the door. A very courteous hotel employee wished me well wishes and handed me a box of macaroons. Along side the delicious macaroons was a hand written card signed by many hotel employees. I was blown away by the sweet gesture and I have never had a hotel treat me with such generosity! I strongly recommend staying here when visiting London! This is the first review I have written about a hotel because I felt so compelled to do so. 11/10!

Yelp
The Chesterfield Mayfair was our first stop for our month long honeymoon through London/Europe. We stayed for 4 nights and it was top notch from the moment we arrived. First, greeted by the door man and front desk, you immediately feel like royalty. They are so pleasant and welcoming. The lobby is elegant and feels like old world charm. The perfect feel for visiting London IMO. Very quiet and classy. They checked us in promptly and had or bags brought up to our room for us. The room is beautiful. Not huge but it never felt too small either. Nice coffee maker, decor, linens. Bed was super comfy!! View was open to a few other buildings...but they were in the distance so we felt like we had a nice open view. Very quiet all day and night. AC worked very well. Temperatures in London never really got too hot so this was never an issue either way. Shower was amazing!! Great rain head. Loved the bathroom. Very spacious and nicely decorated. The service is impeccable. They had a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for us. And a greeting card signed by every staff member in the hotel!!! Wow!!! Every night there was a treat left on our pillows. Nice touch :) Free, great wifi. There's a bar/lounge through the lobby that we had wine and tea at 2 of the 4 nights. A great pianist played some cool, light jazz covers as we sat and relaxed after long days of running around this amazing city. The concierge was so helpful. Very eager to give info and suggestions. Mayfair is an amazing neighborhood!! You're close enough to everything but you're staying in a neighborhood that allows you to escape the hustle and noise of touristy London. And there's some great little restaurants and spots to hang at right out the front door. Thank you to all the staff at Chesterfield!! You really got our honeymoon started in the most amazing way!!!! Yelp
We stayed here for a wonderful week in London in April, and loved it! The staff is friendly, helpful and a joy to be greeted by everyday. The room was nice, the breakfast had a lot of variety, and the evening drinks in the bar with the piano playing was a must every night. The Chesterfield Mayfair is in the perfect area, with pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance, as well as being close to the tube, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, and Westmister Abby. We fell in love with London, but I think it had a lot to do with staying at the Chesterfield Mayfair. If we go back, this is where we will stay again.

Yelp
We had afternoon tea at the Chesterfield today. We were a party of 6 adults and three children, all of whom have birthdays in the next couple of weeks. We were drawn to the Chesterfield by the old sweet shop theme, as this seemed child-friendly and fun, whilst still maintaining the quintessentially British afternoon tea . There were a number of groups with children and we felt very welcome. The staff were wonderful, the atmosphere friendly and relaxing, and the food for the children was the same quality as the adult food, which was excellent, especially the cakes. The champagne was also very good. At the end of the meal the staff brought out little cupcakes and teddy bears for the kids' birthdays, which was a nice touch. Overall, a wonderful experience. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Yelp
"Great Place to Stay in Mayfair and best value in London - ask for room off main street is tip" Stayed here twice, last trip. Great location in center of London. Well run. Well staffed. Quiet area only recommendation is request a room off the main street, which isn't really a main street but a few motorcycles and mopeds do rip by at night otherwise. Value-wise this Carnation hotel is best you can get in London, I promise you that. I find it great for shorter stays like 2-5 days when you need to get in and get out. For longer stays I would stay at the Soho hotel. Thats just me. All in all I'd recommend to anyone ESPECIALLY first timers to London who want to make a safe pick and have super service value and location.

Yelp
This was the first stop on our honeymoon. Beautiful hotel with a wonderful staff. Joshua at the front desk was amazing at answering all of our questions and helping us find a yoga studio and schedule close by. They were incredible about room service. Being that I'm an American and love my ice, and they don't have ice machines and I would call down twice a day and receive ice within a minute. It was amazing. The room was beautiful, even though we did have an issue with the lift while we were there, it wasn't anything too bad.

Yelp
This really is the undiscovered gem of London. Situated in the middle of Mayfair within walking distance of a dozen top restaurants and with its own restaurant as well. There is no more friendly hotel; from the Reception to the domestics. What a simply great treat for anyone who loves being pampered and made to feel a million dollars. Very pretyy decor, lovely rooms and public areas and the nicest staff anywhere. Don't miss it, I mean it !!

Yelp
After a particularly difficult day, a wonderful friend of mine at work stopped me as I was about to go on a spending spree to 'calm my nerves' and asked me if I'd like to get a drink instead. Knowing she's responsible for food and beverage management on behalf of one of the biggest banks in London, I jumped at the chance - the woman knows what she likes and she knows what's fabulous. Off we jet set (on a packed tube, of course) to the Chesterfield Mayfair. I cannot speak on anything but the beautiful bar, dimly lit and puppy-dug encrused. Whether you look above the bar or on the rather adorable embroidered pillows, dogs seem to the the running theme. A pianist tickles the ivories with modern songs you can hum along to (Yellow by Coldplay and Make you Feel my Love by Adele were my favourites of the night) along with a fabulous cocktail in hand. We started off the night in a cozy corner. Extremely comfortable seating. Very quiet setting. No one is bothering you - this is the type of place to chill out and unwind, if you've got the funds to relish your cocktails without stress. Champagne was the first drink of the evening which we took our time polishing off. Snacks are delivered promptly to your table - twiglets (either you love them or you hate them), olives, and salted peanuts. Service is impeccable. You are not waiting for a drink long, if ever - my only complaint is the staff is dressed in uniforms that although are quite glamorous appearance, have a terrible fit. I am a stickler for details - in a setting as serene as this, give the staff clothes befitting the service they provide. The prices are high, the service is swanky, not the most modern of environments but they do the classics and they do them well. If you are in the mood for a Lycee Martini like I was, however, they do not carry Lycee liquor - stick to on-menu items and enjoy what hopefully be a special evening!
