Yelp
Lucie. Lucie is da' bomb. They recently got rid of that mean little bar-tendender and now we have Lucie more consistently. We usually sit at the bar, where happy hour is available all day.
Our favs are:
Grilled Pork Tenderloin Anticuchos. Juicy, and beautifully cooked with a perfect char. The coffee rub mixed with the spices is perfect. It is served on a skewer with vegetables and a crisp, fresh, bright slaw.
Charcoal Roasted Chifa BBQ Sticky Costillas. These are oh so sticky and succulent on the bone juicy little ribs. Use extra napkins because that sweet sauce will get on your face.
Rotisserie Chicken Nachos. Wow, these are really good. I'm an Out West gal and I'm telling you, these nachos are really, very nice and good. Not a spot on them is left uncovered, by either cheese, beans, pico or guac, which is pretty rare in the world of nachos. Get a side of pickled jalapeños and you'll be good to go.
BBQ chicken salad. Chock FULL of delicious CHAUFA BBQ (seriously excellent) shredded chicken, corn cherry tomatoes cucumbers and the like. And again, the balance is perfect as you have as much of the other stuff as you do lettuce.
The only reason I took off a star is because I had the Caesar salad which is pretty much a loser. The croutons are way too small and that's pretty much it. Croutons, lettuce. Not much else. I got the blackened shrimp on top of it and it was way too salty. It's the only non-exceptional thing I've ever had there in my year and a half of frequenting The Chicken Place. Nothing is perfectly perfect though right?
OK now the cocktails here, like all Kyle G's establishments, are creative and really good. I love how the bartenders are able to offer their own creations.
Pictured below is a prototype of an upscale banana cocktail in a coup made by the ever fabulous Lucie. Aside from this, my go to's are the Apple Spice Martini, which is rimmed with a lovely dusting of allspice. My a number one walk-in and sit down at the bar first libation however, is the Blueberry Pisco. If you have not tried Pisco, this is a must. PS: also don't forget to try the spicy tamarind margarita, it is served with a lime slice with burnt sugar on top. Tasty!
We love Kyle G's restaurants. The man has a plan and he's doing it well. Every single one of his restaurants has a different and unique flair. The consistency throughout is the professionalism of the servers, the talent of line cooks, the efficiency of the host staff and the creativity and hard work of the bartenders, and their barbacks. Mediocrity and poor attitude is weeded out quickly. Everyone works well together and everyone is happy.
Some of the best experiences we've had as foodies in PSL and environs has been with Kyle G's.
