Yelp
This restaurant already has the disadvantage of being located in an area that is not the nicest and in an old, sort of run down building. However, I was super excited to try it!
I wanted to place an online order but I was extremely confused on how to make sure my chicken sauces were half and half. There was an option to select that, but I wanted some sauces on the side and the third party ordering website was not very user-friendly. Instead, I decided to call and place my order. The employee I spoke to was very kind, but she seemed to struggle a bit taking the order, as it took a while to complete. However, she was very thorough in making sure the order was correct, and repeating it back to me.
When I got there to pick up my order, there were three employees I could see, the individual in the front at the counter who took my order, and two others working in the back. The employee at the counter was having an issue and discussing with the workers in the back, as they were out of something from an online order but they could not find a call back number, and had no way of retrieving it.
The cook in the back asked what I was there for since I had not yet been helped, and handed me two bags of food. I had a very large order; I spent $80 on three orders of chicken, a side of fries, mac and cheese, and some sauces. I should have checked the bags but had not been there before and wasn't sure the portion sizes, plus had my dad and baby waiting in the car.
After I finally paid, I was not given a receipt. The employee at the counter and I discussed how there were large sauces included in my order, as I wasn't sure if she added them over the phone or not. I filled my drinks and left.
Upon returning home, we discovered we only had four containers of food, three were our chicken meals and one was our side of fries. I was not given the two side sauces for the chicken (89 cents each) or the two large sauces for the fries ($2.99 each), or my side of macaroni and cheese (I am unsure what I paid for this as it is not listed as an item to order off their ordering website and I was not given a receipt.
I tried calling multiple times and received a busy signal, so I just decided to head back down there. Normally if it were just my order I would let it go, but since the sauces and macaroni were for my brother and my baby, I decided to go down there.
I finally got through on the phone when I was a few minutes away, but due to spotty service could not hear the same employee that took my order originally properly, and was told they would see me soon and it was no problem.
However, once I walked into the store I was met with much more hostility. The employee immediately told me they could not honor my request for replacements as, in her words, "The order was made correctly the first time." Now, I became a little bit upset at the accusation, as I would not have driven back and brought my baby inside to try to pull one over for some extra sauces. When I told her that I only received two bags (not even given to me by her) she told me I could speak to the cook. So I stood awkwardly in the door way of the kitchen, still holding my baby, talking to the cook about my order. However, he said that he gave me everything and told me I could speak to the manager if I wanted, and started to laugh a bit, maybe nervously.
I would not have been as upset about the situation had I not been required to ask the cook to speak with the manager while I could physically see him standing less than five feet from where I was, wholly able to hear the conversation. He then came out and told me that there were not allowed to be phone orders over $40, because it became too confusing. I informed him that I was not told that, nor did I take and accept the order. As you can imagine, I was unsure how this was a fault of my own. He then reluctantly made my extra sauces whilst griping and grumbling about how the order shouldn't have been called in. While they made the sauces, the front employee told me that she was the one who took the order, that she put it in correctly, and that the other two (the cook and manager) "try their best," basically assuring me that they could not have made the mistake. I asked to get a copy of my receipt, and she told me there was no way to do that. I did in fact see the receipt print the time I was there before, but was just not given to it, so I know it at least had been thrown away by her in the last fifteen-twenty minutes since my order.
