The Chicken Shanty

This place just opened a few days ago and decided to give it a try. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The chicken bacon avocado wrap was also very good as well as the fries. They have a good selection of sauces. Friendly and welcoming staff and the place was clean. I will definitely be going back to try their other meals.

Stopped in for some chicken after hearing about this place. It was pretty good for the price. I had the 3 piece chicken tenders basket, fries with little cup of slaw and drink for $13.99, not bad. It’s order at the counter, and their setup of order at one end and pay at the other was a bit disjointed. The chicken was nice size tender filets of all white meat, and I really liked their fries, crispy and crunchy. The slaw was meh… I got the buffalo sauce that was ok, and the honey mustard was a Dijon style (see pics). Not much to the place, kinda small with limited tables and chairs. Overall I’d go back for cheaper decent chicken.

First off, fantastic customer service. Owners and staff were there and greeting us, offered several sauces to sample, all were good and fresh. Notable were the honey mustard, sweet chili siracha, dragon fruit and bougie. I had the Western sandwich and it was good. The pimento cheese reminded me of the celery sticks mom used to make. My girl had the coconut chicken, we use the chicken strips to try all the different sauces. It was good. The fries were good. Atmosphere. Very nice. Brand new.

My fiancé received his chicken sandwich on a hotdog bun, even tho the display showed a burger bun. Both sandwiches were very dry and my grilled chicken had a very thin piece of chicken and hardly any veggies. The avocado was chunky instead of thin slices or a spread so they just kept falling out of the sandwich lol! Can’t wait until Chick-Fil-A moves in and puts this place out of business. They’re half the price but the food is sooo much better. I couldn’t even finish my sandwich. $35 for two sandwiches with fries. Their fries are delicious and customer service gal taking order was very nice, which is the only reason for the extra star given. These 5-star reviews for their food are absolutely fake.

Had a friend pick up an order of the coconut chicken for me. I asked for the peanut sauce and the dragonfruit. It came with a nice little cup of coleslaw and tasty fries. They had a bit of seasoning on the fries but they were also excellent. The coconut chicken was cooked perfectly and had an great texture. I have a new favorite meal and chicken place now.

Decided to try the chicken wrap with Buffalo sauce, and it’s delicious! I will definitely be back. The woman at the counter was also very nice and helpful! Fries are a little basic, but the chicken makes it worth it and some salt cures that!

I ordered coconut chicken strips, sweet potato fries and a cookie through Uber eats. When the order arrived we opened the box to find burnt dried out chicken that was not edible, a burnt cookie that was hard as a rock and no fries at all! I spoke to the Manager Sierra (as she said the owners were out of town), Her only reply was sorry we were busy!

First of all, the customer service was great! The Nashville sandwich was very tasty and crispy. The fries were delicious. The honey mustard looked suspicious but looks are deceiving, it was the best honey mustard I’ve had. There was a bit of a wait but well worth it. 10/10 would eat here again

While this isn't my style - fast food, it is comparable to Dave's hot, but much better. Daves seems to choke the food with too much salt and seasonings, thus place has a far better balance and the choice of sauces, while approaching the novelty side, is repeat with interesting and delicious adds for your meal. Better value for money as well, no crowds, and local.

The service was fast and friendly. The chicken is hot and fresh and crispy. They have so many dipping sauces to choose from. The ranch and honey bbq was my favorite. We had the avocado bacon cheese wrap and didn't care for it. The pimento cheese overpowered the chicken. Probably won't repeat that. Serving are large.

Delicious fried chicken and a fun fast food destination. The Mr. Crabs Sandwich was a take on Crab Rangoon and tasty. The fries were excellent! Nice crunch and they had a dozen sauces. The sweet Thai chili sriracha was very good. Everyone was having a great day and glad to be there.

Just opened. Great people from small beginnings. Oregon Grown. Met one of the owners Tyson, super cool. Their staff seems to be from the local high school, which is great. I tried the 3pc chicken with fries and a cole slaw. Everything came out hot and was seasoned well. The chicken was a little flatter than I would like which made it a little on the drier side, but impressed nonetheless. Fries were well seasoned and crispy, you can tell they used maybe corn starch to get that snap. Coleslaw was cold and not overpowering with anyone spice or watery it was very good. There is chalkboard tables with chalk, I passed on this, didn't want to handle chalk then eat fries, but clever to bring out your artistic side of you. Presentation was great, establishment was clean. Would come back and would recommend. Maybe next time the chicken will be a bit juicer.

Nice little place! Delicious chicken! Cooked just right! First time here. We came when it was slower (before 5pm) but the gal was all alone. She still did a fantastic job taking care of us and the 2 after us. Did not have to wait long even though she was alone. Friendly & welcoming! Would recommend this over any big chain chicken place!

I had to remove a star from my last review. The food is still great and the service friendly. The problem is inconsistency. I have ordered 4 times from here now and the boneless chicken looks different every time. Sometimes they are larger, but today they were so tiny that I was glad we ordered 15 pieces. Inconsistency is a problem that must be addressed because customers don't want to be surprised when they get to go, get home, and open the box.

I thought I posted this review, but I cannot find it. The service is slow, the temperature inside the restaurant is cold (we had to leave our jackets on to stay warm), the prices are rather high. This was our second visit. We have no plans to return. BTW, the hot chicken is extremely spicy. Beware.

This location of The Chicken Shanty is permanently closed. I stopped by yesterday and the interior signage had been removed. There was a sign on the door that an Indian restaurant would be opening soon. Workers were in the process of remodeling the kitchen. Sorry to see The Chicken Shanty had move on.

Delish tenders, fries were fresh & crispy. Coleslaw was not to my taste but good variety of different dipping sauces. Staff were friendly and food came out relatively quick. Felt like a few kinks still needing to be worked out - during lunch hours it gets a little crowded and people coming in to order have nowhere to really queue except into the seating area which makes it cosy but they are just newly opened so maybe they'll come up with something. Overall definitely recommend and will be back to try other items on the menu.

We loved it!!! Such nice service and fast even on first day with our huge order and group!! Had so many delicious sauces and the interior was super clean. The food was so crisp and well seasoned. Loved it!!

It was good, lots of different sauce varieties. There was only one person behind the counter and our order was kind of big so when it came out some of our food was hot and some of it wasn't hot but I genuinely think that it was a staffing issue. The floor was very very sticky as we sat down at our table and the tables needed to be wiped down but again, I don't think it's cleanliness as opposed to staffing. Overall, I will get food from here again though, it was really good.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. It looks very unappealing from the outside and has a small menu but I'm obsessed. We came into town for a football tournament and stopped by. The coconut chicken was to die for. Juicy and had the perfect crisp. The sauces were so good!!!!!! The strawberry shortcake was a nice cherry on top. Very simple but still yummy.

Went for the first time to give this place a try after having some recommendation's. Ordered the chicken basket, hot chicken basket, wings and an extra side of cole slaw. Strips were yummy, liked the fries more but decent overall. Honey mustard was our famous sauce. Wings were just ok, not much flavor with the 2 sauces we chose.

We had the chicken sandwich and coconut chicken. I liked the coconut chicken the best as it had more seasoning. The fries and sauces were really good as well. The kids liked it a lot so we will be back!

We really liked their fries and their chicken was pretty good too. However, we stopped by there today at 4pm in the afternoon, and there was a sign on the door saying they were permanently closed. The guys at pizzicato next door said they don't really know what happened either...

Co-worker and I came in for lunch a week or so ago. Not busy at all and each ordered the chicken basket with 2 sauces. The good: Fries were delicious and a good sized portion. I had the house southern sauce, would 100% get it again, and the Nashville sauce which was ok. Co-worker had the chipotle sauce and it was really good as well. He also got VooDoo hot sauce as well. It wasn't hot, more sweet, but tasted pretty good. The basket meals came with a drink. Nice to not have to pay extra for a drink. The Meh: The coleslaw was ok. I'm not a huge fan in general of coleslaw but this one was edible with a sweet-ish dressing. Was on the verge of soggy but still had enough crispy it wasn't completely horrible. The bad: The chicken was so thin and dry. I enjoyed the flavor but with how thin the chicken was the portion was maybe 1/2 a chicken breast for the 3 pieces. Definitely not worth the cost overall and went a way hungry still. Overall I'll probably visit again and try a sandwich but unless I see someone else in the restaurant that has thicker/juicier strips I wouldn't get the basket again.

They have a lot of kinks to work out. (Long story) if you like fried food it looked ok. Just need someone to not walk away when you approach them at the counter. Weird encounter.

First time here. I walked in, and the place was clean. The lady behind the counter was super helpful. I ordered food to go. The chicken had a great flavor, and I enjoyed all of the different sauces. Will definitely be back.

Food was good but service needs so much improvement. I had the Mr Crab sandwich and wings. Sandwich was different than anything I've ever had. I was worried about the pimento cheese but it was alright. Had a sweetness and spice. If you are ordering to go, you will probably get what you ordered, but if you get it there, good luck. They had no table numbers or numbers on receipts that I saw anyone use. You would order with one person and then move over to the register where they would ask you what you just ordered. So then you'd have to try to remember everything you just told the first person. And then they would bring out food and have no idea whose that was. I saw them say, who ordered coconut chicken and this lady said well, I did. But they didn't have the food for the other 2 at her table. So she starts eating and after 5 minutes the other 2 people questioned where their food was and a lady sitting outside came to ask about her food that she ordered at least 20 minutes earlier- well, her coconut chicken was being eaten. They could easily get table numbers and put that with the ticket. I luckily got mine to go and they put my name and order on the to go box so I got everything and was called up to the counter. The owner and his 7 year old were friendly. The boy was talkative with me while I waited 20 minutes and he'd open the door for customers.

Super good and flavorful! My whole family LOVED the food here. Happy to have this in the neighborhood

The wings were perfectly cooked and the sauces tasted great. Fries were also tasty. Cute place!

We tried several things here. The crispy chicken wrap was really tasty (we ordered it with the peanut sauce). Coconut chicken and chicken basket were also delicious. We got these with the Nashville hot sauce and it was spicy but not crazy. The staff was very nice and patient as I asked questions about the different sauces. Will definitely go again!

This is my new chicken place! Big portions decent prices and I love the sauces! We needed a great chicken place around here and now we have it! The chicken is tender on the inside crispy on the outside. I like the chicken tenders and the chicken wings. Welcome!

best chicken we had since leaving Georgia very fresh service was great and food comes out fast. the price is very reasonable.

The atmosphere is very blah. The posted menu badly needed a graphic designer's input. The chicken was decent, but the wings were tiny. The coupon for buy 6 wings, get 3 free was only good for the boneless wings. Even though the bone in wings were more expensive, they would not let us use it even to get free boneless wings, which was disappointing.
