"The Chimneys is a swell spot for classic coastal cuisine on the Gulfport waterfront. Take a seat on the front porch patio of this charming historic home for views of live oaks and the Gulf. The seafood gumbo is terrific, as well as the Godchaux salad, a toss of lump crabmeat, boiled shrimp, anchovy, and avocado on greens, dressed with a Creole mustard vinaigrette. Seafood is a specialty." - Beth D'Addono

My family has frequented this restaurant many times over the years. It’s well worth the drive from Ocean Springs. I would venture to say The Chimney’s is the best restaurant on the MS Gulf Coast! The fried shrimp is one of my personal favorites, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu in my opinion.

The place was highly recommended by a colleague on our business trip. This quaint and charming restaurant is beautifully located right across the beach front coast of Gulfport, Mississippi. For the appetizer, I ordered seafood eggplants. It's baked, had crispy toppings, creamy eggplants, and seafood on the inside. It tastes so good! For my main course, I ordered the triple tail special, lump crabs, and a wild rice on the side. It has a generous slice amount of fish perfectly cooked paired with the delicious creamy lump crabs on the top. The restaurant table setup was nice with fresh, colorful flowers on a flower base. The restaurant is clean with large windows for one to appreciate the wooded outside, and the view of the ocean front can be visible at the restaurant side porch . The service was good, and the price of food is affordable. I highly recommend this place.

Made reservations for a birthday and got there a bit early so we sat at the bar for a drink while we waited for our table. That was the best decision of the night. We ended up eating at the bar with Jamie and Watson (the bartenders). Great recommendations, great drinks, great food and great company. They are quick on their feet and very pleasant. Jamie made our birthday dinner a special one! We've been here before a few time and as always great food. Tonight was worth a review, the grouper was delicious! All around a phenomenal experience!

Google
I had an outstanding experience at The Chimneys on Friday night. Making a reservation online was easy and I opted to sit on the patio. Morgan was an excellent server. Her service was welcoming, pleasant, knowledgeable, cheerful and she made the whole experience very comfortable. I had the snapper that was featured for the evening. It was absolute perfection. Served piping hot, very flavorful, and tasted very fresh. The Mississippi Mud Cake was decadent and a great treat. Morgan was thoughtful and considerate of pacing for my meal, ensuring that each course came out at the perfect time. The view, surrounded by trees and being able to see the water, made this a great way to enjoy a peaceful Friday night out on my own. Towards the end of my meal I was greeted by the restaurant’s (very polite, well-behaved and not intrusive) outdoor cat who lazily made his rounds on the floor. Overall, a lovely experience. I would highly recommend this as a great place for a romantic date night or a special occasion.

Best filet I've ever had! Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Loved sitting on the front porch and having the beach view while we enjoyed dinner.

Google
I had dinner at The Chimneys on a Wednesday evening. The crab and corn soup was very tasty and had plenty of crab and was very creamy. My main course was the grilled red snapper with a crab and shrimp mixture that tasted perfect. Watson provided excellent service in the bar area. I think the value of the overall experience exceeded the modest price. I’ll be back soon for another great meal at The Chimneys.

Google
Everyone was polite. Our waitress, Alexis, was great-she kept checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food did not taste as great as you would think for the price. It was good, just not as savory or flavorful as we would have wished. But again service was great and it was beautiful inside.

Google
Exceeded expectations! A truly wonderful dining experience that won't disappoint. Reservations are not required, but highly recommended as this restaurant gets very busy and for good reason. Every dish has a "wow" factor and is absolutely delicious. Service is top notch. Upscale atmosphere that is warm and inviting. View of the ocean can be seen through the front windows (from a majority of the tables), or from the front porch dining area. Parking is limited. If the parking lot is full, then the restaurant will probably be also. I wish we had discovered this place on our first day of vacation instead of our last. Otherwise, we would have eaten here multiple times during our visit. We will return on our next visit to this area.

Yelp
Well, how we found ourselves at The Chimneys again today is explained in my first review. Same song, second verse. This is such an elegant, white tablecloth venue overlooking the live oak adorned shoreline of the Mississippi Sound. Our experience today was made all the more exceptionally enjoyable thanks to our absolutely remarkable Welsh server, Ruthie. If we have ever enjoyed a more delightful, engaging and perfectly attentive server I cannot remember it. Pro Tip: ask for her! : ) I enjoyed an Old Fashioned and Miss Anne a Mimosa for starters. The Sunday Brunch/Lunch menu is a cornucopia of tantalizing offerings. Take a look at it on the website. I had intended to see what their gumbo is like here, but before we could even think twice about it Ruthie produced a cup of a crab and something or other chowder, "On me, see what you think", as she presented it. It was lovely. We decided to share the Trout 1640 with the goat and cheddar grits, and french green beans almandine sides. The dish came out separately plated by the kitchen (class kitchen touch). The dish overall was so very nice... a generous portion of crabmeat, four shrimp and a lovely sauce. The fish was over cooked and dry, but nonetheless tasty due to the excellent pané and sauce. These grits are world class and the haricot verts are prepared perfectly. The meal was complimented by glasses of the Jadot Pouille-Fuisse. Ruthie cracked me up when, without a word she snatched my iPhone off the table and fired four shots of us. LOL. Such an enjoyable dining experience today.

Yelp
Easy to make reservations online. Although I did not need one. I sat on the patio for sunset it was beautiful. There are a lot of flies but, you're eating outdoors. I wouldn't expect anything else. The crab claws and the freshly baked bread were the best part. I got sautéed shrimp for my entree but it was the same sauce as the crab claws. So I wish I had gotten something else since I got the same thing different protein. Wine is reasonably priced for glasses as well. Overall good experience, nice servers, beautiful location.

Sharon C.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food and outside dining. I ordered the special which was grilled fish with vegetables. Great service and well prepared food. Very clean and great ambiance.

Yelp
A++! Okay, so an odd review. Please indulge me. A few years ago, when my parents had their 50th wedding anniversary here, and the whole family loved it. It's such a great special place. So, when my son and his now wife were planning their wedding, not being from the coast, they decided to look here. Long story short, my son got married here. It's a great restaurant, and also a great venue for events. Great place. Super service. The staff was friendly, flexible, and professional. Delicious food. For the morning wedding, my DIL chose biscuits, scones, breakfast casserole, shrimp and grits, and spinach and artichoke dip. We also had Bloody Mary's, mimosas, and beer. It was all well done. Great vibe. Beach views. Pics under live oaks. My highest recommendation!

Erica R.

Yelp
10/10 on two visits now. I LOVE dining on this front porch! Far enough away from the roadway that you don't get the noise but close enough that you get the beautiful ocean view and the oaks are truly gorgeous. Now let's talk about the other stuff: perfectly convenient parking right behind the building which is nice. It's super easy to get reservations. Service is IMPECCABLE. And the food is TO DIE FOR. Tonight I had the special which was triple tail with crab and shrimp and a side salad and delicious steamed veggies. I could eat here everyday! The drink menu is also expansive and they have a lot of great choices! It's great to come here when in the area! I highly recommend it!

Yelp
Finally tried The Chimneys. Waited 3 years and I wish we hadn't waited so long. I write my reviews and give stars based on the type of establishment. So I may give a dive bar a 5 star review as compared to other dive bars. That said, this 5 star review is for a 5 star dining experience. We went for lunch, and it was fantastic. Started with the lime martini (can't remember what it was called) and he had the Fashioned (not old). Both were excellent. Appetizer was the crab cakes to share, which were fantastic. Seafood Gumbo was the best we've ever had. Loaded with crab claws and shrimp, with a perfect dark roux that wasn't too salty, so lovely. My husband had the Godchaux salad, and he was in heaven- loaded with crab and shrimp and some anchovies for flavor. I had the special, snapper topped with crab and shrimp and a delicious Dijon sauce (not overpowering at all). Shout out to our server Colton. He was excellent. Perfectly timed our lunch experience. Lastly, the setting is just beautiful. This establishment has it all. Just go.

Yelp
When visiting Gulfport, MS in late February of this year I had the opportunity to dine here. Looking back, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Chimneys. I ordered the special of the day for my dinner entree. I skipped dessert. From what I remember, they had a diversity of items to choose from for entrees. I love that this restaurant is an old historic home. I believe that this home served as a resource for women back in the day. The building itself has a nice "old soul" feel to it. Our waiter was great too. Overall, I had a great experience and would absolutely consider dining here again. I recommend checking out The Chimneys if you're ever visiting Gulfport or the surrounding communities.

Tanya C.

Yelp
stopped in flor lunch today and enjoyed a great lunch at a very reasonable price. we sat outdoors and enjoyed the great view. chili shrimp and fried crab claws were enjoyed before the main course. gumbo, fish tacos and shrimp salad were all tasty. colton was our server and ensured our experience and meal was first rate!

Jeri A.

Yelp
We enjoyed our meal here. Drinks were just ok. Nothing special. The food was really good. We had gumbo. It was excellent. We had the stuffed mushrooms. They were excellent I had the beef tips. They were good, but I probably wouldn't get that again. My husband had a snapper special. It was excellent. We would not hesitate to return again.

Yelp
Great spot for lunch... Decided to come down to the south to explore New Orleans and the beautiful beaches. Lots of amazing places to eat but this place is highly recommended. White tablecloth service fresh fish menu great food great prices you gotta try it.

Susan V.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful ambience, delicious food, delightful server, The Chimney is firing on all cylinders. And the lunchtime prices are on par with what fast food places are charging for a full meal. This restaurant just made my top five on the coast.

Autumn M.

Yelp
The Chimney's is a white-tablecloth seafood affair. The restaurant is a charming, Southern house, with a beautifully decorate large porch. I thought the dinner was pretty middling. I had the tuna steak, and felt that that it was very bland, and I had to pretty much douse it in the Tiger Sauce. The green beans had absolutely no flavor. My husband had the Trout, and reported that the dish was very dry. We both felt that for this price point, it was definitely not worth it. To add insult to injury, they charged me the wrong amount for my wine, and charged me the bottle price, not the glass. We were headed to a play, so we did not have time to correct the waitress. I also thought the service was lacking, and the maître seemed a bit rushed. I don't understand why this place gets such rave reviews, unless the brunch menu is better.

Mike T.

Yelp
Let's see. Fabulous, awesome, delicious. Got your attention? The building is rebuilt after Katrina. If beautiful. The service is outstanding. I'm on business and have eaten there two nights in row. I had the trout 1670 first night and the pork chop the second night. Trout was great, pork chop, top two that I have had. (I travel all over the USA and South America). Just perfect, no BS. Go see Watson and Claire. This place is AWESOME

Kelley P.

Yelp
This was my first experience I was with a large group 30+ so I wasn't sure how good everything would be. We'll let me say WOW the area we sat in was wonderful, servers amazing (not one check messed up) and the food all came out at the same time and was perfect!! From front door to kitchen what an extraordinarily well run business. Thank you I will be back.

Sofia L.

Yelp
Our coast has something for everyone. At least I think we do. So, if white tablecloth is your thing this place is great. The Chimineys is the place for an elegant treat. The ambiance and service go hand in hand with the upscale feel. My experience is based on their Sunday brunch. The hubby and I had scrumptious Eggs Benedict. I had them with ham. He had them with beef tenderloin. We both greatly enjoyed them.

James H.

Yelp
I don't often write five stars, but I think The Chimmeys deserves it. Excellent food, excellent service, attractive setting, and convenient location. It's hard to ask for anything more than that. Visited on an anniversary for lunch, and the menu was beautifully varied, prices are fair and everything came to the table in a lunch appropriate time frame. There was no lunch dessert menu, but all dessert menu items were available at lunch. There are a lot of dining choices along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but for a perfect balance of quality, service, pricing, and location I really don't think you can beat The Chimmeys.

Nina L.

Yelp
Fabulous food, service and ambiance. Great seafood and cute seating inside and on the patio. More than half in our party ordered the special which was a red snapper topped with crab meat and shrimp. Served on a bed of asparagus. Seafood on seafood on seafood. Delicious. Drinks were great. Hefty pours of liquor so great value for money. This will be a go to place in Gulfport.

Marta P.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great service! Loved eating lunch on the patio. Our server, Hanna, was a rock star! We didn't ask for anything special, but Hanna wisely anticipated our needs, without hovering, and was just a pleasure to have as our server. We will definitely return!

Bobby B.

Yelp
Well not a good experience at all! Me and my date were dressed in decent shorts & t-shirts from being on the beach and lousy rainy weather. So we look at Yelp for great food and fine dinning. We walked in first thing we were asked if we had reservations we didn't. Nothing was written about reservations are a dress code. Well they said let me see if we can seat you, 14 minutes later we are seated beautifully done table, No we wait and wait and wait... So we decide they don't have time for 2 beach people looking to eat good food. Now I leave $5.00 on table for the water and we get up to leave. The hosts std what wrong, tired of waiting and going somewhere else to get service and food. She runs off and another lady says go get your girl I will make it up and get you a free dessert! Really you don't serve me and now you think I'm looking for free food.... Well let say just say I will never darken their door again.. I will say I ended up at Oyster on the Half Shell down the road.... I will be back their GREAT SERVICE GREAT GREAT FOOD... May I say I never been made to feel so out of place in my life!, I'm 60 yrs young. But their I'm just look at like poor white trash.

Faith F.

Yelp
Fried oysters good portions !!! Fresh salad with house made creole ranch amazing !!!!! Chicken sandwich dry plain !!!! Soup of day crawfish tomato bisque amazing !!!

Heide D.

Yelp
My partner and I dined here tonight for a special date night out. We had appetizers and dinner- crab claws and stuffed mushrooms then trout and some beef tips. Ambiance 10/10 server was great and very attentive. Taste of food considering price was, so so. We loved spending time there together but maybe will try different items next time. All in all good experience, just don't expect massive portions.

Penny D.

Yelp
Always a fabulous meal when we dine here. It was a big group dining for Sunday brunch with my dad, all my siblings and their families. We decided to sit on the porch to take advantage of the beachfront views. It was a hot day but luckily there was a breeze. The view was spectacular. There was something for everyone on the brunch menu, even for the pickiest of the young nephews. The endless mimosas were a really nice touch for a really great price! If you are looking for a relaxing brunch with spectacular views of the beach, I highly suggest going here. Their grits and grillades are delicious as is the shrimp and grits. The spinach and artichoke dip for appetizers had the perfect amount of spice and bite and was super creamy -just the way I like it! The crab claws appetizers were just ok, didn't have much of a flavor. The waitress was extremely attentive and very friendly. She was very patient, even with all the little ones at the table and even took family photos after our long meal. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to the next family gathering.

J L.

Yelp
Very nice. Food was great. Service was a little slow but it was okay Overall we will return.

Michael R.

Yelp
There are plenty of places to get good food and service along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. But The Chimneys is among the top. If you're looking for a local place away from the buzz of casinos, try The Chimneys. IMO, when on the coast, skip the beef selections. You're there to enjoy the delicious gulf seafood and how it's prepared. (Assuming you can eat seafood.) The fried oysters are probably the best my date or I had ever enjoyed. Fried with a light and well-seasoned coating, they were tender and moist. The stuffed flounder was perfectly cooked with the fish flesh easily flaking. If the weather permits, sit on the front porch and enjoy the gulf view. TIP: Heading west on US 90, turn right just after the turn and parking lot for the Courtyard by Marriott but before entering 15th St. You'll see the blue sign for The Chimneys at the last minute and it comes up fast. Enjoy!

Michelle C.

Yelp
Came by myself for a quick lunch before heading to the airport. I had the catch of the day with a side of soup. So good. The ambiance was so cute and would make for a great date spot. The majority of the customers at lunch were there having business meetings but I didn't mind. The service was great and the food came out pretty quick.

Shari J.

Yelp
Had a Friendship gathering this last Saturday night, our server was Alexis! She was every sweet, gracious and accommodating. I asked her to take our picture and she said sure with a smile All 4 of us were very pleased with the food. I had stuffed flounder- AMAZING My friend got the Chocolate factory martini- delicious and presentation was awesome The Chimney's is a very charming restaurant This was my 3rd visit - will be back again

Jamison L.

Yelp
We had the sautéed shrimp dish with potatoes and the creole pasta! Both dishes were rich with flavor. Our waiter (Colton) had good menu knowledge and helped us pick out some house favorites like their creole ranch for the salad dressing. Good at upselling; we were just to full for dessert. 5/5, Would go again!

Cheryl E.

Yelp
We dined at Chimney's for the first time last night. Lovely setting and service was good, although noisy with full dining room. Shrimp bisque was the highlight of the meal, creamy and well seasoned. Ordered the stuffed flounder for entree, very disappointing. Fish was mushy, stuffing had very little crabmeat and dish was bland. Portion size was adequate. Was expecting better quality given other reviews.

Joe B.

Yelp
Ambience is pleasing. A little pricey, but worth every penny. Service was friendly and attentive. I've yet to try anything on their menu that I didn't enjoy, but my. personal favorite item is the baked seafood eggplant appetizer...in fact next time I go I plan to just order two of those and no entree.

Linda M.

Yelp
Love the beautiful old home this restaurant is located in. From our window table we could see the gulf across the street. As usual we had already looked at their website food/drink selections. Our server Eric S was delightful ,helpful and cute as a button. Of course we had to ask his opinion on our choices. We had a delicious cup of soup and for our entrees Laura had the 8 ounce filet(cooked perfectly) and I had broiled trout meunière almandine(wonderful). On Eric's recommendation we had crème brûlée. It did not disappoint. Can't wait to go back and have dinner with Eric!!!!

William K.

Yelp
My son and his fiancée were married at The Chimneys. Everything went as close to perfect as it possibly could have. The actual service was held on the front lawn, with post wedding celebration on the front porch and inside. Delightful event. The service, food, drinks and ambiance were terrific.

Melanie F.

Yelp
We loved this place! Great drinks and really phenomenal food. Our server Morgan was really friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back.

D A.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Best fried oysters I had during my entire trip. I'll definitely be back.

Leisa M.

Yelp
The atmosphere and the service was wonderful but for the food it was a bit of a disappointment. I had the stuffed flounder, it had a very strong fishy smell, it was palatable non the less, but not as tasty as expected. The steamed veggies we more raw than cook with no flavor. My partner had the filet mignon steak topped with shring top with shrimp and crab meat The steak was tender, but had a distinct Worcestershire taste infused in it , so distasteful. Service was swift and friendly. This will not be a repeat for us.

Jay M.

Yelp
The service here is incredible! Our waiter was fantastic, I wish I remembered his name! He was attentive and helpful. I notified him of my shellfish allergy, then he immediately wrote it down and ensured me that my food choice was free of that. Everyone was satisfied with our meals and impressed with the quality of it all! Will have to come back here again if I'm in the area!

Stephanie O.

Yelp
Wonderful, and highly creative fresh seafood entrees. We have made it our routine to stop here and enjoy a late lunch/early dinner on the restaurant's lovely, covered deck whenever we are en route to visiting family in Louisiana.

Angie C.

Yelp
This place has class. Loved the menu options. The service was on par for a 5 star. Will definitely go back. I would give them a 5 star but the wine list was a little subpar. Most wines were "grocery store wines." I would have liked to see a wine list on par with the Bourbon and Whisky list.

Anthony B.

Yelp
My wife and I have been eating at chimneys the last 3 years when traveling to Mississippi coast. Service is on point food is the freshest seafood we have had anywhere on the gulf coast. Looking forward to the next visit!

Debbie C.

Yelp
It was excellent! The disappointment was that they were out of gumbo. It was well appointed, nice quiet environment.

Perry M.

Yelp
This is such an amazing restaurant and is our favorite restaurant on the coast. The ambiance is amazing. The perfect southern coastal vibe. The staff are extremely friendly. The food is incredible. Be sure to try the crab claws.

Babs B.

Yelp
Beautiful food and appetizers. Spirits are great service is wonderful. Perfect to sit out and see the Mississippi sound

Charles C.

Yelp
Went there and the service was horrible. Never got a glass of water. No one waited on us. Told the lady at the front door what happened. Went back after the manager called me. The food was mediocre. Won't be going back. Not recommended.

Douglas V.

Yelp
Best Food and Ambiance on Mississippi Coast. The fireplace was burning, very romantic

Shirley B.

Yelp
A really great place to have a meal that is full of flavor! This is a must-try restaurant for you bar none. You won't regret it. The atmosphere and service is top notch. You will love the ambiance as well.

Lynn R.

Yelp
We arrived at 11:15 on Friday and were seated immediately, by a window facing the ocean. (Photo of view) The dining room is elegant, the view is the prettiest part of the Gulf of Mexico, due primarily to the giant oak trees and bright blue sky over the beach. Our server brought warm bread and a sample of today's creamy crab bisque to dip it in. I had the best baked crab dish of my life. We 4 enjoyed our entrees, all different, all delicious. It was such a pleasure to dine here. That's right, you don't just eat here!

Tess P.

Yelp
The Chimneys is well put together and a great place to go to dress up and have a fancier meal. The menu has a lot of unique options. It's nice to find variety, as many options in the south tend to be the same. We sat outside for dinner. The ambiance was great. The weather was nice, and there is a pretty view of the trees and coast. The outdoor lights were a great touch. Service was timely and it was overall a pleasant experience.

Jeff N.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 8pm but we had to wait a little due to large parties that came in earlier. While we waited, they allowed us to grab drinks at the bar. When we finally were sat, we ordered appetizers which came out quicker than expected. We ordered sautéed crab claws, seared tuna and crab cakes, all were delicious. For my entree, I got their special of the day, Red fish with lump crab & shrimp and their garlic potatoes. I did get to try my wife's Oysters Chimney's which were excellent. It was rich and full of flavor. Looking forward to go back to try everything else.

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
We went here for my husband's birthday. They are so busy and understaffed, but the food as always, did not disappoint. My husband got the creole pasta with oysters and I got the fried oysters. They were both outstanding. I highly recommend this place for the delicious entrees.

Tam S.

Yelp
We enjoyed it so much that we made a reservation to return the very next day with our parents. This is one of the best restaurants in the coast. Just the perfect ambiance of Southern living paired with delicious food and drink options. We dined on the patio and enjoyed the Southern vibe. Service staff was friendly and attentive. All the dishes we tried were clearly meticulously created. The flavors are refined and delicious. This is a must for fine food connoisseurs.
