The Chocolate Bar

One of my favorite restaurants in Grand Island! They have some of the best alcoholic beverages for very reasonable prices. They were voted Best Desserts in GI and I understand why after eating the Almond Butter cake. It’s literally life changing! Can’t go wrong with any of their food menus either. Favorite appetizer I always recommend to my friends is the Truffle Garlic Toast. When I’m in a hurry, I can always call ahead with my order and just pay at pick up.

I loved the food. The presentation was great, the flavors complex and the dessert was decedent. It's a cute place with a back room for parties, but the front area where we sat felt crowded even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The decor is a bit plain, which added to my surprise how nicely our food and drinks were presented. Although the prices are on the upper end, it was all worth it. The service was friendly and quick. I will definitely return for the dessert and coffee alone

Amazing everything! A true gem in Grand Island! Food, drink, service, all top notch. Went for dinner with a group and had bacon wrapped dates to start, then pecan crusted halibut for the main, delicious. Had a smoked bourbon cocktail that blew my mind. Tried a friend’s steak and wow, perfect. Wonderful service, just love this place!

🫐🍵 Best beverage we’ve had in weeks (the blueberry matcha latte—tastes like homemade jam). Large, busy cafe with breakfast, lunch (wraps, soup, and sandwiches), gourmet ☕️coffee & tea, 🍹cocktails, 🍰 cakes, cupcakes, and chocolate truffles 😋 They offer a GREAT lunch special— $10 for half a wrap + slice of cake + chips! Also check out the 3 for $10 breakfast 🍞toast deal. Servers claim the crème brule is the star of the show. ✅♿️ wheelchair accessible and plenty of seating options. ❌ Prices aren’t posted beneath items, but they are reasonable and listed on the printed menus to the left of the register. Note to Management: please put printed menus at the back of the line by the door, so folks are ready to order by the time they reach the register. And add coffee prices to the digital menu or at LEAST the printed menu. And the two baristas were VERY busy (super polite and helpful, but clearly needed more help with the 11:30 Th rush).

Even though the Chocolate Bar was packed, our service was fantastic. Great food.

I had a very disappointing experience with the service here. While placing our order initially went smoothly, I witnessed the manager arguing with the cashier about whether a cupcake was gluten-free. I felt bad for the young woman taking orders, as she was doing her best to handle the situation with professionalism. Unfortunately, when it came time to receive our food, our order was incorrect. The man distributing the orders was not only unhelpful but also dismissive and condescending. Rather than assisting in resolving the mistake, he made remarks such as, “Well, someone ordered it,” and, “I just love when people don’t remember what they order and I’m just supposed to know.” Errors can certainly happen, but his attitude and tone made it clear he was placing the blame on us, which was unnecessary and unprofessional. The food itself was acceptable, but considering the cost, I expected a far better overall experience.

The food was amazing!!! Stuffed Mushrooms/ Prime Rib/ Garlic Chicken/ Shrimp Pasta. Buzzing from the speaker in the ceiling was awful. Overall, it is highly recommended!

Sometimes you can find the perfect lunch in the most unusual places . I was going to go to a chain restaurant for lunch but was really hoping for more local experience. The chocolate Bar delivered in huge style . This is located in the historic downtown of grand island Nebraska. It's an unlikely place to find a swank and Uber cool brunch spot . The Chocolate Bar has style . I could hope to find a place like this in Denver, or Chicago or even Vegas but finding it here in this small Midwest town is even better! The coffee was delicious. The chocolate truffles were rich and amazingly refined . I had a Cobb salad for lunch and sat at the counter . The vibe was perfect. From the music ( tears for fears,Thank You) , to the friendly service to the perfectly casual moments everyone was enjoying in the packed classic restaurant , every was right on . I also indulged in a slice of almond cake . Prices were reasonable. Selection is not huge but it's just right. Seating is ample but the place was very busy on a late Saturday morning. Come relaxed . This is not a fast food place. Be ready to enjoy your meal and sit to talk and eat some chocolate.

Dropped in for lunch and had a fantastic sandwich! I also got the fluffernutter cookie sandwich that was so delicious! My only tip to other would be to not go over lunch thinking you'll get served quickly. I waited for 30 minutes and was told the kitchen was "backed up" even though the group of ladies in line ahead of me got their lunches and were done by the time I got mine. That was a bummer, but other than that I loved my food and the ambiance is great.

Food was good. Desserts were yummy. Kinda pricey. The day we went, they were struggling with the computers and staffing, but we will try it again.

Love taking my family here! Super fast and nice people! If you stop for lunch they have a great selection.

Food was fantastic! They serve prime rib Friday Saturday nights. The venue is very satisfying and worth every penny. I hope you get on your feet and come eat it

This place is so accommodating! I came in a little early before dinner service started. I had a Sunkissed Paloma which was incredible! The Mojito was delicious also! Melody was my server and did fantastic! I ordered the Shrimp Rigatoni ...... PERFECT!! Portion was huge! ( I will be eating on it for a few meals!

Super cute place, didn't love the drink options, but they had amazing chocolate ball things I had to try them all! People aren't super attentive

This was an amazing place to pop in and get some chocolate, cake, coffee, even coffee cake! The design is very original and modern, the device is impeccable and it takes little to no time to receive your food!

Super cute, delicious drinks! This was a great place to sit and chat and catch up with a friend. I had the iced Cuban latte, which was the right amount of sweetness for me.

Enjoy the relaxation while you work or play with minimal noise around you. I met with friends once every couple of weeks and had open discussions about books, writing, publishing, etc. without feeling like we were disturbing others nor that others were disturbing us. Great, friendly atmosphere!

Stopped for coffee--an excellent cup of drip coffee for 55 cents?! Plus an adorable group of employees. I wish we had gotten the chocolates and cake slices as well!

Expensive drinks, but the overall vibe is good. Food selection is nothing to write home about, so don't go here expecting that, and the service can be hit or miss.

Pleasing aesthetic, great coffee, great service, great fresh food. Would recommend to anyone looking for a coffee, breakfast, or lunch spot. The lattes and the smoothie were smooth and delicious. They even have options for coffee connoisseurs (pour over, etc).

Great good & ambiance is wonderful as well! Service is above average! A wonderful place 4 a Delicious quiet lunch . Don't stay long... the parking in made inside is monitored & they say 2 hr parking on their signs but I was ticketed 4 being there less than 2 hours. I just paid the $25.00 ticket rather than fight the city, I had no idea why I was ticketed, in the reason box it said manner of parking. So I called 2 see what that meant. I was told it was because I had been parked over an hour & that there was 1 hour parking on 3rd Street. I drove all of 3rd street, it's posted 2 hr parking. I seriously was in the Chocolate bar just over an hour, met an out of town friend 4 lunch. I was shocked 2 see a ticket on my windshield & seriously so upset over the $25.00 fine. A very expensive lunch! I just paid it, was not happy about it, but the ticket threatened impound if not paid in 5 days. Who knew when the 5 days would start, no voice in this ticket! Easier 2 pay it & learn the lesson, so if I get an opportunity 2 share with others,, I do. Great place 2 eat & enjoy your meal with a very cute atmosphere! I recommend the soup & wraps! Save room 4 the delicious homemade desserts! I had a delicious lobster bisque, but usually have a wild rice soup. & a delicious wrap but the salads r great also! Food is so good, nice 2 have a unique menu in GI, sad over the parking problem! I recommend finding a parking lot behind the businesses in rail side or park on a side street, and walk a bit, I have that luxury, not everyone does! Enjoy your meal @ the Chocolate bar! Just watch the time! I have no idea how the good watches the parking on 3rd street, wasn't watching my vehicle, couldn't see it from where we sat. Wasn't watching was eating & talking. Go, just watch your time!

Lots of seating. Friendly staff, they also brought the drinks and food to our table. Salted Hazelnut Lattes were excellent. Ordered the Avocado Toast and Bacon and Egg Croissant which were good as well. Would have gotten some of the baked goods and chocolate they looked delicious but we were full. Maybe next time if we are traveling this way again.

I had a delicious meal at Chocolate Bar Friday evening. Salmon Salad, very good! All so, the order was taken at the table and the service was an up grade, you know, like a Resturant! Nice! The atmosphere, is nice at Chocolate Bar and as I was leaving I noticed how busy it was getting.

Has been a while since last here. Just left with a hot mint tea and honey. Just right. Beautiful cakes and Carrot Babies (small cake layers with cream cheese frosting in between) I've had prior. They're really good. But am full enough from lunch a short time ago. Really nice candy items here also, which appear made in-house. Have likely had some of those in past also. Nice setting and seating situation here. Have always liked this place and seldom able to get here.

Great food @ lunchtime& a good place 2 have lunch with friends. Nice menu. Great soups & desserts! Cocktails r nice as well!

I love the chocolate bar! The lattes are great & one of the few places you can still obtain ceramic cups, the Roasted red pepper soup is amazing, tiramisu Martini if you are wanting an adult beverage, the rainbow buttercream cake, lemon blueberry loaf, truffles are all go to's for the past 12 years! I've taken kiddos there for lunch & coffee w/ treats since before they started school & one is now in PA school. When my young adults were little kids they ordered their own "coffee" ie vanilla steamers (steamed milk w/ vanilla) & we hung out just as we continue today! Chocolate Bar is a great place to visit.

The chocolate bar "could've been better" which is the label that the two stars on my review mean. I think that they have a lot of great things, but I did not have the best experience. In many ways, they fell short of my expectations. The good: - free wifi - comfortable seats - empty inside so many seat options The bad: - overpriced food and drinks - limited selection - rude staff - drinks not made correctly - no outlets - dirty bathrooms Unless I need to, I won't be back.

I think my expectations were off when I got here. I expected more chocolate treats. They had some truffles, cookies and cakes. It was nice they had a gluten free chocolate chip cookie, but it was the worst I've had. I would not recommend it. I did really enjoy my Cuban Latte and would get that again.

love making a stop here whenever i'm back in my hometown. amazing coffee, food, desserts, and martinis! my go to here is the london fog. they always have seasonal menu items so there's always something new to try, as well as a few staples they've had since opening! super cozy vibes here great for studying, getting some work done, or having a lunch/dinner date! such a unique must-try place in GI!

I came in for a quick bite and settled on a Egg Salad Sandwich. It was perfect in a grilled croissant with lettuce. Perfect amount of mayo, you could taste the egg. I will definitely be back.

I have had a wonderful experience today at the chocolate bar. Joyful service, great background music, the ambiance of natural and aesthetic light and beautiful, established plant life. This morning I tried the salmon toast and I absolutely love the flavor profile. Great price for the quality and portion.

This is such a cute and sophisticated place to grab a bite to eat. And the chocolate is delicious! I adore this place. Can't wait to go back when I'm back in town.

What a well done coffee shop in the middle of a beautiful old downtown. I feel like we found a treasure in an old ship. It has a cool uptown vibe with a modern twist. My cappuccino was excellent! My breakfast sandwich was fresh and presented in a cute square plate. It looks like they also serve alcohol. There was a lovely arrangement of bakery goods. Cakes, cake pops and handmade truffles. Do yourself a favor and get to the downtown, away from all the commercial chains and treat yourself.

This used to be a cute little coffee shop/ cocktail bar. Post pandemic their hours have really changed. I would definitely double check on their hours before heading there. I've tried going a few different times and they always seem to be closed now.

I recommend going here it's a great atmosphere and is clean and modern. Only thing I would say is it's pretty pricy and not very much for what you pay for. The food is delicious especially if you're willing to pay 10$ for a sandwich!!! Not a fast food restaurant but more of a modern quick snack and meeting place. Pretty good service and got the food pretty quickly, they treated my nephew nice since he was pretty annoying lol.

It has really good and fresh menus choices! The environment created there is a cool chill and freindly place to be highly recommend!

Really enjoyed the environment and ambiance! Lots of natural light and tables to study/work. I was in town temporarily and this coffee shop made me forget I was in Grand Island.. however it's slightly pricey and the cakes were mediocre (though really pretty). But the setting was so great I ended up coming back 3 times in 2 weeks

I wanted to like this place. Small town and probably the nicest coffee shop in town. Breakfast food was good. Espresso was smooth which is hard to find. The bad part is it took 30 min to get a couple shots of espresso. If it hadn't taken so long I would have given them four stars.

This place does not ever disappoint. I've had their smoothies, cocktails, coffee, and deserts and hope to return for lunch sometime. The ambience is great and I love stopping at this little gem in Grand Island. The rainbow almond cake is one of my favorite go tos.

We visited The Chocolate Bar while on a business trip and it was our favorite cafe spot of the trip! Super classy, with DC vibes and delicious drinks and pastries. The Cuban and matcha lattes were both delicious and I loooved their carrot cake! Thanks for the great experience during our NE visit!

Super cute interior, great outdoor seating, yummy pastries and coffee, just... skip the actual food bit until they figure it out. Sandwich and salad were pretty uninspiring (bland).

Atmosphere: 10/10 Coffee: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Love this place and always have! If you have the chance to stop in make sure to get some dessert because they're de in the store regularly and are the best thing you'll eat!

I love The Chocolate Bar. This is the best coffee in Grand Island, in my opinion, and the bakery is on-point. Definitely try the tiramisu latte and a muffin. The only thing that could improve the experience would be adding oat milk to the alternative milk list!

Group stopped in during a pub crawl for a friend's birthday and we tried most of their signature drinks... Weren't disappointed! Delicious!

My partner and I stopped in during a weekend trip to my hometown. I've been hearing about this place for years but never managed to go, and now I'm kicking myself for not taking the opportunity when I lived closer. It's a truly gorgeous space, and the drinks are some of the best I've had in a long time (not too sweet, a bold coffee blend, made with care). I plan on stopping by every time I head west now!

Great coffee, food, and service. Consistently excellent.

Went on a date night on a Thursday night. Read the paper with the hubster while sipping a man apple cider mule and appreciating the lovely decor. What a beautiful space to escape to when I don't want to look at the laundry piled up at home! The barristas were courtesy, professional, and prettily androgynous. Yay progress, Grand Island! Strongly recommend the old fashioned chocolate cake for those with a serious sugar craving.

5 stars for service and friendliness of staff. First time here and I appreciated the recommendations provided. Food probably a 4/5 but not bad considering the price! I ordered my cake to-go and I'm excited to get home and eat it. Might be back again to try the rainbow cake before I leave town!
