Yelp
The Chophouse offers an upscale dining experience with some hits and misses.
While the portions are smaller, as expected from a fancy restaurant, not all dishes deliver in taste. The filet mignon was underwhelming, but the Atlantic halibut stole the show with its unique sauce, making it a standout recommendation. The steak did not come with any sides, while the halibut did.
For those unfamiliar with this place, here are some things to keep in mind...
The side dishes are a la carte, meaning you pay for them separately. So do not expect anything to come with your entree unless specified. Two, the restaurant enforces a casual business attire dress code. So save yourself the embarrassment and opt for a nice collared shirt and khakis instead of your tattered jeans and hoodie. They will appreciate it (and so will your date). And three, reservations are highly recommended. This place is trendy during peak hours, so pick a time (preferably right when they open) as you're more likely to get the table you desire.
The ambiance, especially when seated by the window overlooking the lake at sunset, adds significant value to the dining experience. During quieter hours, such as early Sunday evening at about 4 pm, when we went, the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing, allowing for a pleasant dining experience.
The staff was great, from the hostess to our server, Ryan, who provided excellent service and was accommodating throughout the meal. We enjoyed the sherry-roasted mushrooms as a side dish and indulged in the lemon sorbet for dessert, rounding off the experience.
Our total was around $120. So, while the overall cost was higher (or standard for a place like this), the combination of ambiance, service, and standout dishes makes this steakhouse worth considering for a special occasion or a peaceful evening meal.
