We decided to extend our DC weekend getaway with a day trip to Annapolis. Staying at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, we were able to walk a very short distance to this restaurant (and when in Annapolis, seafood is a must). We arrived around 6p on a Sunday night, and there were many open tables (we did not have a reservation, and online it said there were no available reservation slots). For as many empty tables as there seemed, there was also a noticeable amount of staff around.
We were seated upstairs. I was initially very impressed by the restaurant itself -- very trendy, spacious, and has great harbor views. I can infer that this is definitely the place to be in the summertime.
To start, we ordered cocktails and crab dip. The cocktails were decent, nothing outstanding, same with the crab dip...have had better in Annapolis and elsewhere. Also, for a party of 2, the $25 crab dip appetizer is a lot of food (large dip, bread, carrots and celery). I don't think we even made a dent in half of it, which is unfortunate for the price and for those of us who don't like to waste food.
For dinner, we ordered a lobster roll, Caesar salad, and the mac and cheese. Again, large portions. Lobster roll was good, not amazing. Salad was delicious. Mac and cheese OK, probably not worth the $15 and again, we just felt like the portions were so large we didn't really need this additional side. We had a very kind and attentive server--I believe his name was Alfred.
They had some fire pits outside that weren't on, however, we would have probably opted to hang around and order drinks post-dinner if they were.
Overall, like I said--I have a feeling that in the spring/summer, eating al fresco on the patio overlooking the harbor is amazing. On a dreary Sunday night post daylight savings is a different story. Next time we will consider maybe sitting for a happy hour drink on the patio and not ordering so much food :) Ambiance great, food OK for the price.
