Baltimore Restaurant Group ‘Will Not’ Bring Racist Dress Code to D.C. Hotel - Eater DC

"Last year, when a social media post sharing the dress code policy prohibiting excessively baggy clothing, athletic attire, and brimless headgear at seafood restaurant Choptank ignited a round of criticism, an Atlas spokesman told Eater the company would be reviewing its plans to bring a dress code to D.C." - Tierney Plumb

Atlas Restaurant Group May Bring D.C. a Dress Code That’s Accused of Being Racist | Eater DC

"At the new Baltimore seafood house Choptank I saw a printed dress code posted to the door that listed items STRICTLY PROHIBITED including “excessively baggy clothing,” “brimless headgear,” “backwards or sideways hats,” and jerseys; that policy drew a viral social media backlash calling it “blatantly discriminatory” and “racist as hell” after a tweet from R. Eric Thomas (who also showed Choptank’s Twitter account had blocked him) prompted widespread comment. Atlas spokesman Joe Sweeney later said DC properties will have dress codes as well, and then told the Baltimore Sun the company does not support “discrimination of any sort” and is reviewing the policy “in light of allegations made.” Reporting in the Washington Post and Washingtonian challenged Choptank’s defense that it was merely following Fells Point norms, and the Sun noted other nearby bars have their own restrictive dress rules." - Gabe Hiatt

Google
We tried several menu items, and everything was great. We got Maryland crab+cream of crab soup, which was excellent. We also got the tartare, calamari, and a dozen raw oysters. It was all delicious! I also loved the house margarita ❤️

Gloria R.

Google
This was my second visit to choptank in Fells point and it did not disappoint. We started with lemon drop cocktails crafted by my favorite bartender Ryan for appetizers we tried the honey ole bay wings and jumbo meatball with garlic bread-both amazing. We were so full, that we ended up taking our main courses to go, but I enjoyed the crabcake mac & cheese and salad for dinner at home. They were fantastic. Can’t wait to come back Ryan you made me a fan.

Tyler V.

Google
Wonderful crab cakes and outdoor patio. Also have great local beers on draft and wonderful service. Highly recommended if in fells point. Note you can split the crab cake meal and get your own sides which are huge.

Google
This is our second visit to Choptank. The hostess was very nice and friendly and seated us immediately upon entry. Our waitress Taylor was very attentive. She did an amazing job. We ordered the cream of crab soup, old-fashioned (drink), oysters, po’boy (fish), and crab cake entree, with corn pudding. Everything was amazing. We also had a special visit from Jordan, Roy and the executive chef Calvin. Jordan’s hospitality was unmatched. We had a great conversation with Roy and Calvin. We can't wait to meet up again when they are not working. If you are looking for good food, service, staff, and atmosphere check out Choptank. We are loyal foodies and we know an amazing organization when we see one. Choptank and the Atlas Group is top tier.

Google
First time visiting Inner Harbor, this was a great spot to try! We came on a Saturday so it was the brunch menu and there were so many unique and tasty options. LOVED the crab omelette. Our server Xavier was very helpful with good suggestions, which was nice since it was our first time visiting. Would recommend and go back! Also a spacious bar inside and for patio season an awesome bar space.

Google
Arrived here with a very large group(25-30 ppl) during the CIAA. We were immediately seated and offered special menus for the event, though the regular menu was more than sufficient. I believe we made Tyler, our server, a bit nervous initially, but he handled us with grace. Our appetizers and drinks came fairly quickly. Our cocktails were strong and fruity. A great margarita substitute. The soups my group had were so good I didn't even get a picture. The chicken wings were well seasoned and sauced. As a self-proclaimed ranch snob, their recipe was pretty good. The Eastern Cobb salad was very good. The breading on the fried oysters was delicious and definitely a new salad topper for me. My fellow diners enjoyed their food as well. As a native Marylander, I appreciated the vibe of a reimagined historic Fell's Point. The live musician was definitely entertaining! During his cover of 'Fast Car,' my back was to him, and I didn't realize Tracy Chapman wasn't playing on the speakers. He has a great voice and mellow and warm on the cold, windy evening. Thank you to Chef Riley for the great take on Maryland cuisine and to Genevieve and the proprietors for helping our group find a great place.

Google
Decided to come downtown Baltimore to see what has changed and found this newly renovated location on Broadway market. Very nice and spacious!! Came for drinks and appetizers. No wait on Monday nights, got to take I the ambiance. The food of choice was the Choptank wings(good), Cream of crab soup(need more crabmeat good), potato skins( different flavor but good), passion fruit Margarita and Long island Ice tea. Bartender was good! Over all happy with my choices. Will have to try again for dinner. If in the area try them out!!

Necole J.

Google
Overall, great staff and good food. The location is perfect. Literally, in the center of everything. Took a group of girls there for dinner. Had a well balanced meal. Highly recommended. Thanks Choptank.

Yelp
Food delicious Service great Ambience was amazing Passion fruit margaritas to die for! A good place to catch a vibe and great food in Baltimore

Yelp
This was a solid dining experience. My party of 4 was able to get walk-in outside dining on a Friday night. The service was great and the food we ordered came out in a timely manner. I would say it's about time for them to get their heat lamps up and running because night time is beginning to be rather cool. We mostly got small plates and appetizers for the evening, but a highlight for me were the honey old bay wings and the garlic green beans!
google avatar

Nikki A.

Yelp
This is a huge venue. We have been here twice, once for a drink at the bar outside and once for brunch inside. The service outside was not friendly at all. I think we hit some sort of shift change, we were ignored for quite awhile by both parties. We also came for brunch on a Sunday. There was live music and the service inside was much more friendly. The food was fun (that chicken sando on a donut was a great brunch idea, I just wish the chicken had actually been spicy). My salad, despite all of the varied ingredients, was not especially tasty. The drinks were inventive, my Bloody Mary was super chunky and a little hard to drink. I would probably grab a beer here (inside, most likely) but I don't think I would come back for the food.

Yelp
Busy Saturday night, but found 2 seats at the bar. Service was fast and food was great, is there a such thing as bad food in Baltimore?! Steak salad was amazing the steak was very well seasoned and prepared. Calamari was fresh, nothing out of the world just. Half and half was interesting. More creamier than expected but it was first time trying this local dish. I would not order it again lol. But it was yummy. The food is pretty rich and they give you enough to take home so think maybe 3 meals lol. Ambiance was dinner crowd, tourist, locals, dates.
google avatar

Steve E.

Yelp
Very nice place. Lots of seating options. Very nice staff. Value is not quite there. Clean place, they had live music. Drinks were pricey. Crabcake Sandwhich had Big chunks of crab but lacked flavor. Five Guys has better fries. Crabsoup(half and half) was real good and recommended.
google avatar

Gillian E.

Yelp
I just love it here. I'm from Annapolis so we have another location but the Baltimore one is different, but equally fun vibes. The crab dip and sandwich is delicious, no complaints on any of the sandwiches. My only ding is I think their half and half crab soup is too sweet, probably too much sherry for my taste. But a great time!
google avatar

Talika B.

Yelp
This place was highly recommended by my friend. And when I say it was the best recommendation, hands down it was. I made reservations which I didn't have to but glad I did. Just for comfort. The food was very delicious. The drinks on point. We were stuff early and couldn't hardly finish our food. The outside seating area was so cute and very well lit. It was a very friendly and an open atmosphere ambiance setting with lights and a lot of seating. Good for hanging out with friends or a date night or just a good night of food. The music was good. I can't wait to go back, and bring more friends.

Yelp
Dined here during a weekday happy hour around 6:00. The outdoor courtyard area bar was quite busy- because of the warm day we open for the indoor bar seating. Surprisingly, we were only one of two parties seated inside. The restaurant is very large and has nice, coastal ambiance. Our bartender, Nick, was so friendly and made some great cocktails. We were able to enjoy quite a few items from their happy-hour menu including the orange crush cocktail that Baltimore is known for I guess (was tasty), the oysters (fresh and delicious though a little on the small side), their gigantic meatball, and their warm crab dip (recommend adding more old bay). It was a nice experience to try some Baltimore seafood and drinks in a fun area, recommend!
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Location and ambiance are great - right by the water in fells point. Very solid happy hour menu with many drinks and apps (only at the bar). Definitely can get busy by the bar for happy hour but I have not had trouble with regular seating during dinner time. Was not a fan of the mussels, but good calamari and crab dip.
google avatar

Private B.

Yelp
I ordered a crabcake and fries. The crabcake was seasoned well and was delicious with and without any sauce. The sauce for the crabcake was very good. The fries were good too. Inside is clean. Outdoor seating option... Street parking can be a nightmare, but I went on a Sunday so it wasn't too bad. Service was average. Portion size was only enough for 1 serving.
google avatar

Marissa H.

Yelp
Dinner at The Choptank was good but nothing that blew me out of the water. There was live music playing when we dined which was a nice touch. The service was friendly but the food was just average. We both got Green Tea Crushes. We started off with the Crab Dip. I got the Steamer Plate as my entree and my boyfriend got the Chesapeake Rockfish with Lemon Butter. We finished with the Cookie Skillet.
google avatar

Rachael P.

Yelp
Great outside vibe, good seafood, good drinks. Tyler, our waitor, was also fabulous and made the experience fun for us. Overall, I would recommend for date nights, business dinners, family outings, etc. They have enough room to host small and large tables.

Yelp
While visiting Baltimore and Maryland for the first time, of course we had to try crab cake! A local had recommended The Choptank so we chose to try it out. They have a nice, large patio for outdoor seating and also plentiful indoor space. Our server was friendly and attentive. We chose to share a crab cake and a cup of cream of crab soup. The cream of crab soup was fantastic. Very rich and tasty with a good amount of crab. The crab cake was also delicious. I've never had a crab cake like this; it was mostly just nice chunks of yummy crab. The remoulade sauce was delish and a great compliment to both the crab cake and the crispy fries. The coleslaw was tasty as well and I'm not usually a big coleslaw fan. This was a great introduction to Maryland seafood and I'll definitely return!

Dr V.

Yelp
In all fairness take this review with a grain of salt since I do not eat seafood. Their "specialty". Sat at the bar before dinner and had the unfriendliest bartenders. Though not crowded and doing "busy work", was ignored until I waived one down. Nice to sit outside by the water during the summer, but a little dark late in evening. Wings app was ok, average. My guest liked the artichokes, but not the sauce. And found the shrimp cocktail rubbery. The gumbo was so over salted it was inedible. Service was average at best.

Yelp
This is 2nd time visiting this restaurant and my 1st time visiting for brunch with family. The drink tower was a huge hit of course we said cheers so many times I can't count. The French toast with strawberry was pretty good. Fresh salad, double crab cakes were all good along with the cream of crab soup with I had during my last visit. They have a live musician that played a few tunes as always I requested MJ "Man in the Mirror". The restaurant was able to accommodate a large party without any difficulty. I will definitely visit again for brunch.
google avatar

Stewart C.

Yelp
Absolutely great service and a great atmosphere regardless of what you're going for and with whoever you're with! I can see this being a comfortable date place, a great bar meet up location (I know they do have screens for sports events,) I ended up going with my Dad for lunch when he was in town and it was nice to be right on the water in a calm and elegant setting. But more than anything, the staff was great! Extremely responsive and kind. And the food matched that! Not overly heavy and a great selection! I highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.

John R.

Yelp
The Calamari Appetizer, the Seafood Pasta and the Blue Crab Cakes were all outstanding. The Service was great, and we enjoyed our experience there. The Restaurant was not super busy or crowded, which made for easy conversations at our Table. Although we were visiting Baltimore, we would definitely go back when we are in Baltimore again.

Yelp
Stopped in on the way home to the Eastern Shore for lunch and it turned out to be a fantastic decision! We've been there before for dinner with groups and dined indoors and found it loud. This time we ate out on the porch alongside Ego Alley. She had the Lobster roll and had to take half of it home - loved it. I had the Blue Catfish sandwich expecting a standard one filet lunch sandwich but since I want to create a market for blue catfish and find them pretty tasty, I went for it. I want to say this with all seriousness. This was the best fish sandwich of my life. Previously it had been a grouper sandwich at the Islamorada Fish Company 35 years ago. I finally found a better sandwich and only because I refuse to cross the Bay Bridge on a Friday is why I don't go back for another. Three filets seasoned and cooked perfectly on an unobtrusive bun paired with a Cesar salad was absolute perfection. I decided to take a picture after 2 bites since i knew I would do something I rarely do - write a review for Yelp. Get this sandwich please so that it will remain on the menu and keep me a happy man.

Yelp
The location was great during our stay at the Admiral Fell hotel. We pretty much just had to walk across the street. The weather was very nice so we sat outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The loaded fries were absolutely loaded with crab meat, cheese and bacon. You pretty much had to eat it with a fork. Very good! This is in my top 5 best crab cakes. Loved it. Lots of lump meat with just the right amount of seasoned flavor. Im super picky about coleslaw and I loved theirs because it was not drowning in dressing, the cabbage was crunchy and the slight sweetness of the dressing combined perfectly with the cabbage. The green beans were cooked perfectly too. Crunchy and garlicky (but didn't overdue it). The beer selection could have had some more options, but I was happy with the Guinness Blonde that I ordered. I will definitely dine here again the next time I'm in town!

Yelp

Yelp
Ordered: - Fried Chicken Sliders (3.5/5) - Maryland Crab Dip (4/5): Very crabby, which is probably what you'd be looking for in a dish named crab dip. - Wagyu Meatball (3.5/5): Dense and quite filling. Perfect if you want some protein, but the taste was just OK. - Fresh Shucked East Coast Oyster (5/5): Indisputably the best thing here, especially during the game day deal at 1.50 per oyster. The sauces are great, and oysters are super fresh and not oceany at all - they go down like nothing! - Choptank Wings (Spicy Sesame) (3/5): The sauce was too salty, and desperately needed something to pair it with. - Fried Oysters (3/5): This tasted like chicken. It's still good, but not worth it if you actually want an oyster flavor (it's also about 3 dollars per oyster). - The Flying Dutchman Oyster Shooter with tequila (3/5): If you like tequila and you like oysters you'll be a fan of this. Otherwise you might struggle to down it. Overall (5/5): We visited this spot at the end of September during our one day trip to Baltimore, and I have to say this spot made the visit worth it - especially since the oyster special on game day is hard to beat! Service wasn't bad and the ambience was pretty quiet and private. Do be aware on game day there is automatic 20% gratuity so make sure that you don't double tip by accident.
google avatar

Chemutai S.

Yelp
Went on a day that was slow and my server was kind of nonexistent throughout my time there. The food was honestly average, I would say the best part was the fries. You honestly can't mess up oysters either. Seating outside is nice and the host was really nice too. The space is large outside and I like that there's a bar out there too with a few tvs. It elevates the outdoor seating.
google avatar

Charles W.

Yelp
Situated in the trendy neighborhood of Fells Point, The Choptank is placed smack dab in the center of the "downtown" area. Lucky for us, the weather was lovely that night (managed to avoid the rain) and so we were able to enjoy seating outside. Food was mostly delicious, with the exception being the roasted artichoke hearts which was really annoying to eat. The most memorable dishes we tried were the crab cakes, seafood platter, and the fresh catch fish. Service was great as our server mostly checked in on us if we needed extra bread, water, or any other things. We were able to make a reservation the day of, which was convenient, and walking around afterwards in that cute area was really nice.
google avatar

Deborah B.

Yelp
Fabulous bar with a good list of specialty cocktails. Parking can be an issue in this area of town and they do not have their own parking lot. Outdoor patio with its own bar is great for three seasons. Closed in the winter. Yet inside is spacious and can hold large groups. Friendly service that is good about keeping your drinks filled. The food really stands out from their salads to their sandwiches to their fresh seafood. I have yet to have a meal that I would not go back for. If you find yourself in Baltimore in the waterfront is too crowded. Check this place out it's worth the drive.
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
The service was fast and friendly. We ordered a green tea crush, a grapefruit crush, fried Brussel sprouts and the lobster pasta. Our entire order was delicious. There was a live band I believe so the ambiance was relaxed. I've never had any complaints about this place and I will be back.
google avatar

Halit Y.

Yelp
I went to The Choptank with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food/service and the reasonable prices. Their game day menu was a great deal with $5 beers and significantly lower prices for popular menu items like oysters and crab dip. We also tried Maryland crab and cream of the crab soups and found both decent. While the Baltimore area has amazing seafood options (some with better food), The Choptank is still a decent option if you want a spacious/chill spot at Fells Point with very good service.

Owen A.

Yelp
Lobster roll not worth $40. No lobster and super tough meat. See photo. What is this. Augratin Mac and cheese was really good. Outside of that go here for drinks.
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
I've noticed there are 2 locations always passing by the Annapolis location. Finally I said let me try this location here in Fells Point. It was definitely a great energy from the bartender and staff. Drinks were amazing and delicious in ways unknown to the taste buds. I was also let in awe by the mussels and steamed shrimp. The aesthetics of the establishment was def upscale and inviting.. I sat only the bar enjoying my food and drinks with my lady.

Travis B.

Yelp
Great service and food is always on point. I had the Nashville Fried Chicken Donut Sandwich.
google avatar

Alexus M.

Yelp
Great spot. Service is always quality. Food is affordable and menu options are vast. I ordered the steak salad and it's great every time. Lots of space and natural light with indoor and outdoor seating. There is an outdoor bar as well. Family friendly location .
google avatar

Toria B.

Yelp
Amazing seafood and a great selection. They have fresh delicious oysters. The Chili Puppies are a cute and spicy alternative to hushpuppies. The fries are just ok, but good enough with a sandwich. The service is friendly and fast. I recommend sitting outside when it's a nice day.
google avatar

Cello's P.

Yelp
So for Father's Day Makayla surprised me with brunch at Choptank. She reserved it ahead of time so we didn't have to wait best part was when we arrived a truck was coming outta their parking spot so we didn't have a parking issue cause anybody that's been down Fells Point you know how that parking is. The outside setting is perfect place especially when the weather is good. I started off with the crab soup & mimosa. This is where the problems begin cause the service was terrible. It was to the point the waitress had to take the crab soup, & mimosa off the bill as well as part of the kids food orders. The shrimp Po'Boy was actually good but besides that the poor service really makes it difficult for me to consider giving them a second chance
google avatar

Haley B.

Yelp
I always bring family and friends here for the wonderful Baltimore crushes! Thus far I have tried: -original orange crush 5/5 -grapefruit crush 3.5/5 -cosmo crush 4/5 Highly recommend the drink menu as well as their crab dip!
google avatar

Qadira W.

Yelp
Beautiful, spring weekday evening, party of 4 who opted for outdoor seating. The ambience was sitting outdoors, was absolute perfection First, our waitress was very, very pleasant and very helpful-she made a lot of great recommendations. Everyone enjoyed their food. I highly recommend the fried oysters app, they were amazing. As for my pan seared trout, I did have to shake some old bay on it because it was slightly under salted.
google avatar

Shakerra E.

Yelp
It was a nice vibe and they have live music some nights. Went here to give the happy hour a try. The salt and vinegar fries were pretty good. The fried chicken sliders could be better. The cheese on the sandwiches was a little odd and the overall seasoning of the chicken could be better. The Brussels sprouts were very flavorful but a little too sweet for my taste. The service was pretty good. I would return to explore the rest of the menu.
google avatar

Stephen K.

Yelp
Came in here with high expectations for Maryland's famous crab cakes, left somewhat dissatisfied. If you love salt, come here. Most of the foods were all heavily seasoned with salt and butter. It was uncomfortable and hard to finish. Aside from how heavily seasoned with salt the food was, everything else was decent. The ambiance is good for a family meal, the steak came out perfectly medium rare, and the crab cake had good texture. Some positives are the service and quantity. The servers were decently attentive to our needs and the quantity of food was a lot. If you are still considering to visit Salttank, then I would recommend sharing dishes. I believe you can find better food for the price, but its worth a visit once in life.

Yelp
Stopped in town for the night while driving down to Virginia, and Choptank was recommended by our hotel (bonus points for being walking distance away!) we were so glad we chose to have dinner and drinks here. The guava lemonade crush was the best drink I have ever had. And the fried oysters were absolutely delicious! Food and drinks aside, the service was also fantastic! Our server, Tyler, was attentive and happy the entire time, and was even singing along to the playlist (which rocked!). It was the perfect night to eat outside and the patio was lovely. Would definitely recommend dining (or just drinking) here if you're in the Baltimore area.
google avatar

Ren H.

Yelp
The Choptank has such a great outdoor space. Lots of seating inside and outside. The outside has fire pits along with Adirondack chairs and corn hole. It also has an outdoor unisex restroom close to the bar which is super convenient. I had a friend visiting from out of town who wanted seafood so we came here for a weekend dinner. We sat outside and were greeted shortly by our server. We ordered drinks to start, a cosmo for me and Jolly Roger for my friend. My cosmo arrived and it was super red. The server noticed it as well and took it back as the bartender had put a cranberry vodka in instead of regular vodka. She came back with my drink and it was still red and had half an inch less liquid than before. It still didn't look like any Cosmos I've let alone taste like one (it still tasted like cranberry vodka). She thought it was better and was happy with my drink; I wasn't going to make a big deal about it. Kind of disappointing the bartender doesn't know how to make a classic cocktail such as a Cosmo. Moving on to the food... We chose to get the Oyster Rockefeller to start and each decided on a single platter of the Crab Cake Platter as well. The oyster Rockefeller was so good! The creamed spinach and Gruyère cheese were a great combo - very delicious. Our Crab Cakes were amazing. They had so much lump crabmeat in them. They were good just as they were but it was more flavorful dipping the bites in the remoulade. Fries were nice and crispy and went great with the remoulade as well. I loved the food we ordered - they were all so delicious! Our server was friendly but one star down because my Cosmo could never be made right and my server didn't know the difference (seriously, so weird in my opinion). My friend at least liked his drink well enough. Food was amazing. I can't stop thinking about that crab cake! Great vibes all around and good food.

Yelp
Great calamari and oysters rockefeller, server and service was great. Delicious drinks. Mussels were a bit gritty, wouldnt order again, and the potato skins were ok, really liked the horseradish cream sauce but maybe could have used some meat or better cheese- didnt taste much else. Brother LOVED the watermelon salad. Solid spot i wouldnt mind returning to
google avatar

Tierra H.

Yelp
Love the ambiance of this place. Great upscale place without upscale pricing. They have an outside patio which will be awesome for the summer. Service was on point. We had a bartender named Keith who made great drinks and kept them coming all night long! The honey old bay wings are amazing, they are a must try! Ask for a Keith at the bar you won't be disappointed

Emily G.

Yelp
The Choptank is a great place for dinner with friends. I've gone for a birthday celebration and another event which they were able to accommodate the amount of people for the parties easily and the servers were able to handle the multiple checks which is always great! The food is food!
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Had dinner and forgot to take pictures because I was so hungry. Marc was our server and was very kind and took great care of us. We started out with the crab dip and it was really delicious. I got the crabcake and fries and it did not disappoint. I was told I needed to get a orange crush because that is the thing in Maryland. So, of course I had to drink with the locals drink. And it was delicious. The atmosphere here is very nice, but we ate there on a cold day, but it looks like this place would be pretty busy in the summer. We ended the dinner with a warm cookie and ice cream. You can't go wrong with that choice! The food and atmosphere was perfect and the service was wonderful as well

Yelp
We had a very good time, got in with a reservation for 4 people. The service was very attentive. The food came out with perfect timing. The calamari was good, the jalapeños and banana peppers were a nice touch, although it felt 1/2 peppers 1/2 calamari. Kobe meet all very good. Salads were good. While it was a quiet night and people were very friendly, there was a very "corporate " feel to it, opposed to a local Fells Point place

Yelp
Ambiance 4/5 Very attractive to the eye. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors. TV screens everywhere. Service by Noah 4/5 Ok, just ok. Great drink recommendations. Not too personable but consistent. Food 4/5 Well plated. Safe w the seasonings. Seasonings non existent on certain dishes. We ordered... - Cajun Pasta (Sausage on the Side) - Well seasoned and yum! Plentiful. - Crush - Green Tea (Jameson, Peach Liqueur, Lemon, Sprite) - Smooth. - Craft Cocktail - Shore Thing (Sagamore Spirit Rye, Sweet Tea, Peach, Lemon, Honey) - Reads better than it tastes. Would not order again. Plenty of other options available. - Fried Chicken w Brussels (minus the honey) - Ok. Just ok. No seasonings used but very tender. - Maryland Cream of Crab Soup - A hit !! A must order. Would I revisit... Heck yes. The burger and wings that walked past us had us planning our next visit in advance!! Looking forward to a 5/5 experience.

Yelp
I am not sure why I am just now leaving a review. The choptank was amazing! I landed on a lobster roll. It was delicious the service was really great too! This restaurant is nestled in the heart of beautiful downtown Annapolis and makes for a great day to people who watch and just enjoy this beautiful restaurant and city. I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday. Tons of seating and no reservation required. Reservations were available on OpenTable if desired. For a weekday lunchtime they only are doing seating inside. Outdoor seating was closed. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer. Well prepared and seasoned. The Maryland crab soup is decent but not fantastic. There are better versions at other local restaurants. The cold water lobster tail was severely over priced for the size of the dish. The crabcake sandwich was really well seasoned and prepared. The Caesar salad was also good. The Chesapeake rockfish that I ordered was blackened well. I wish the skin had been crispier, but the fish itself was otherwise perfectly cooked. The broccolini was decent but nothing too special. The french fries were crispy and well salted. Our server was very friendly and brought frequent refills of water and soda/lemonade. Overall I think you're paying a lot more for location and ambience. I would recommend avoiding the lobster tail, as it is simply a ridiculously over priced item. I would also skip the Maryland crab soup, unless you are really in the mood for it. It was decent enough, but you should order that somewhere else and stick with the items that this place does well. I will absolutely have the fish, calamari, and the crabcake again.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Baltimore. The crab cakes are the best I've ever had. The staff is always super kind and attentive. The cream of crab soup is really tasty as well. The ambiance is nice, they have an outdoor area and indoor area with lots of warm lighting. There's usually live music inside too.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was poor. We visited this restaurant on a business trip. Had the 1/2 & 1/2 bisque, baked oysters, steak and carrot cake. Was very dissatisfied that I could not choose the temperature of my steak. The green beans were the best part of the plate. Our server was very confused and did not really take care of us. The soup was pretty salty as if it had a lot of old bay in it.
