This is an absolutely gorgeous space with so much to see, and I especially love the modern and contemporary collections. The best part - the museum is free! If you are in Cleveland, you have to go to the Museum of Art. There’s also a fun cafe and museum shop to check out before or after browsing the collections!

The Cleveland Museum of Art is one of those rare institutions that quietly exceeds every expectation. Its collection of Old Masters is remarkably deep, offering visitors the chance to encounter works of extraordinary quality in an intimate, thoughtfully curated setting. There’s nothing like it - you could spend days wandering through galleries and never see it all…and it’s free! There are periodically special exhibits with a ticket charge, but they’re always more than worth it (e.g. the current Italian fashion exhibit and the recent Takashi Murakami installation). You’ll find it all here - old masters, impressionists, ancient sculpture…plus a lovely atrium, restaurant, gift shop, and attached parking.

Visited for the first time just to get out of the house from winter. Great place to walk around experience art for a first time, place was bigger than I expected and every where you looked there was something new to check out. Highly recommend a visit, and its free!

Amazing exhibits always, only 2nd to the MET, maybe. Honestly one of the best museums in the country. Something for everyone. Great for inspiration. The museum is Free, must pay for special events and exhibits, however totally worth it. It's a vibe!

The Cleveland Museum of Art never disappoints this Renaissance to runway special exhibit was mesmerizing! Each piece and the story behind it were so well presented and organized. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience to be surrounded by so many designer and luxury gowns, jackets, and even some shoes. I took high school students on a field trip and they were so impressed. I also went with family, and everyone of all ages can really find a value in this exhibit. Excellent presentation and well planned Gallery. This is something not to miss!

The "The Cleveland Museum of Art" has been a part of my life since I was a child. I have been visiting this FABULOUS establishment for as long as I can remember. My wife and I have been bringing our children to the museum since before our oldest could walk. And the same is true for our grandchildren. It is never too early to expose children to such beauty and inspiration. They will appreciate it their entire life. We either buy, or receive as a gift, a membership every year. I can't think of a better place to put my money. We visited the "The Cleveland Museum of Art" again today to see the "Renaissance to Runway" exhibition. It was absolutely amazing! The garments and jewelry and the style of display was truly inspired. If you haven't been to the "The Cleveland Museum of Art" recently you are really missing something fantastic. You should go. You should also consider investing in a membership. This is one of the treasures of Cleveland we can really be proud of. They deserve to be supported. PS. According to a recent Google A.I. search: "Based on recent critical reviews, scholarly evaluations, and major publication rankings, the Cleveland Museum of Art typically ranks among the Top 5 to Top 10 comprehensive art museums in the United States." And it is still FREE and open to the general public. They only charge, a very reasonable fee, for special exhibits. SO GO... OFTEN!

Such a beautiful and well-curated museum! The Cleveland Museum of Art is huge -- way bigger than we expected -- and best of all, it's free to visit. It's within walking distance of Case Western's campus, which makes it super convenient for students or anyone exploring the area. There are so many exhibits, we couldn't get through them all in one day. We especially loved seeing the Indian art, including Hindu religious sculptures and cultural pieces -- it was great to see that represented so thoughtfully. The museum itself is stunning, with a bright, modern atrium and tons of natural light from the glass ceiling. It's a peaceful space that's great for relaxing or reading, though there aren't any outlets, so not ideal for working long hours. The location is perfect -- it's right next to the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Severance Hall (home of the Cleveland Orchestra), and other University Circle attractions. You could easily spend a whole day exploring this area. Highly recommend stopping by -- whether you're into art or just want a beautiful, free place to explore.

Cleveland Museum of Art is a must see when visiting Cleveland. We were very excited to visit for the Takashi Murakami exhibit. The museum is free for the permanent collection but the special exhibit was $30 per person. The exhibit was worth the admission price with 2 floors of Murakami's art to observe. The museum interior is very large and wide open, with a restaurant and cafe on site. There is also a large atrium seating area with tables for dining. The wide open concept made for a nice lunch setting. The museum also had two gift shops: one on the first floor and one on the second floor of the exhibit with items exclusively related to the exhibit. We spent a lot at the gift shop as the selection was great. Plenty of bathrooms on site. They were very clean. Parking is available for a flat fee. It was $14 on our visit and they do have member rates for parking, admission, and discount at the gift shop.

One of the great museums in America. Absolutely world class. Have been here countless times since childhood and always find some new amazing things. Just go.

I came here for the "Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow" exhibit and I thought it was super impressive. I have been a fan of his artwork so was excited to see an exhibit. Just as a quick tip, you need to buy a separate ticket for this exhibit, which was about $30. I thought it was pretty reasonable for the exhibit. I would definitely recommend buying tickets online before you go. Parking was about $12 and there was plenty of spots available. As for the exhibit, it was definitely amazing to see. There are his personal artwork and also items that Murakami has in his personal collection. I will not spoil it for anyone that wants to go, but they did have some cool artwork to see. The exhibit was on the smaller side, but it took me about an hour to go through everything. There is also a small souvenir shop. If you want anything, definitely make sure to buy it there because the items were not available at the main gift shop. Unfortunately, I had to pass because the items were a little too expensive. Aside from that, I believe the museum itself is free to see, but I was not able to see the rest of the museum because we were there near closing time. I would definitely want to check out the rest of the museum if I ever get the opportunity to next time. I believe this exhibit is only for a limited time, so if you are a fan, I would definitely make sure to go soon.

Amazing museum. If you do anything when you come to Cleveland visit this FREE on Sundays museum. It was fantastic. I couldn't take enough pictures of all the fabulous art works. It's a must see. Loved it.

I was in town on a business trip to Cleveland and I love visiting art museums so this was at the top of my list, especially since it's free to the general public! I was so excited when I learned that there was a Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail End of a Rainbow exhibit. I paid $15 for the exhibit due to a discounted student price which was awesome. The exhibit was AMAZING! It was quite large and there were different rooms with very different vibes so it didn't feel like looking at the same thing over and over. I also went on a Thursday morning at noon and it wasn't crowded at all. Afterwards, I explored the rest of the museum and while I had a map, it was a little confusing at first. However, the museum is well staffed and there were staff everywhere willing to answer any questions! They were all super nice and friendly which I appreciated. I liked how the rest of the museum is laid out by country and connects well! You don't get lost and the layout is very easy to navigate while getting to stop by all the art. Finally, I went to the cafe and gift shop which were cute! Cafe food prices aren't bad at all and the food is solid. I got a mac n cheese and butternut squash soup but they had other hot food options like flatbreads and even a special menu for the Murakami exhibit which was cute. There was a separate gift shop for the Murakami exhibit from the main museum with the exhibit shop having much more selection for Murakami art. It was a little on the pricy side but the exhibit ticket is DEFINITELY worth it.

I recently visited the Cleveland Museum of Art to see the Takashi Marakami exhibit. This museum is stunning. I love all of the natural light. It makes the space feel light and airy. The exhibit itself was beautiful and spacious. I enjoyed checking out the other exhibits and the gift shops while I was there too.

Cleveland Museum of Art is a state of art museum in Cleveland. It's a must see if you're a tourist in Cleveland or an art connoisseur. There is always something going on such as exhibits, music events and concerts, nighttime art happenings, or other events. It's also an excellent institution to experience other cultures, art, and traditions. The museum offers free admission on daily basis charging only for special events and exhibits. The main atrium is very spacious. Galleries with various art themes are available on two floors. There is also a concert hall. While the museum is massive and can be intimidating, there are maps available and helpful information desks. Every person who volunteers and works for the museum is very nice and cordial. The museum has two food options including Provenance Cafe with more formal and advanced faire, and more casual cafe. There are always new and exciting choices at both for a three course dinner. Parking at the museum is available onsite (gets filled very quickly for special events) and street parking in the area. I highly recommend checking out the museum's calendar, pre-booking your experiences to special events, and pre-purchasing your parking on the nights it's available.

Every time we visit the Cleveland Museum of Art we are in awe. Cleveland is not a big city but we have a world class museum and it is free and open to the public. There are not many museums of this quality free and open the public. If you want to see a special exhibit you have to pay extra. This can be expected. The majority of the museum is free. It is the perfect place to spend a cold Cleveland afternoon. We purchased tickets for the Picasso on Paper exhibit. In this instance the exhibit was very crowded and not as enjoyable as I had hoped. It was a holiday weekend so I should have known to expect the crowd. The museum has all types of programs and education. When we arrived there was an art program set up in the atrium. The museum also offers a cafeteria type restaurant and sit down restaurant. The gift shop has many prints and other gift items.

This is pretty darn impressive! I was invited to join a friend for the Picasso exhibit, and while the art was not entirely to my taste, I found the exhibit well curated, and the pieces interesting. The rest of the museum is pretty amazing! I liked the Monet, and some of the more contemporary pieces. My friend was more interested in painting, so I didn't spend quite as much time as I would have liked in the armor exhibit, it was really cool. I also liked the small collection of Russian pieces, including one of the Faberge Easter eggs from the Imperial collection. The whole museum gives an impression of light and space, and even with a decent number of visitors, didn't feel crowded. Definitely a place to visit, several times.

Gorgeous event space. I really enjoyed the event I went to here. The lighting is nice, the acoustics are good, and the venue is just stunning to look at. I am not sure whether the catering is in-house or outsourced, but that could stand to use just a bit of improvement. Nothing was bad, per-se, but the portions were quite small. Over-all, I found it to be a nice space for a large dinner event and I can't wait to come back here to explore the museum itself. Also, we lucked out: this is cherry blossom season, so make sure if you are here in early April to check out the beautiful surrounding area. What a beautiful bonus!

Love the Cleveland Museum of Art!! What a great place to go when you're looking for a free outing! After 6 PM, the meters are free! And since the museum is open till nine, you have some time to walk through! They don't let you carry large backpacks through or coats or umbrellas, but they have a free coat, check umbrella, check, etc.

When in Cleveland, a visit to the Cleveland Art Museum is a must! It's free and open to the public, and packed with stunning pieces, sculptures, and so much to explore.

I really enjoyed the Cleveland Museum of Art. First, its located next to other museums, which offer plenty of outdoor activities to choose from. Second, it's free; however, charges do apply for limited exhibitions. Third, the galleries are well represented of the many art movements handed down from the previous generations.

I always enjoy going to the Cleveland Museum of Art. It is so clean and they have had a good rotation of artworks throughout the years. I am not big on contemporary art, but I will say that they do a good job of incorporating various time periods and cultures. Around Christmas, it can be very busy, especially with younger children around, so I recommend taking the time to plan a day to attend the museum. It can take almost four hours to get through most of the museum because it is so big; it is always worth the trip. I highly recommend their café as well, since they have a great staff and good food.

We stopped by the museum for my birthday! It was Andrew's first time and he absolutely adored it. I love that there is a form of art for everyone to enjoy here! While we loved the armor and weapons exhibit, we were also fascinated by the sculptures and busts. We spent close to three hours here I believe and we didn't even finish looking at everything.

A fantastic art museum and for it to be free admission really makes all the better. There's something for everyone here, from famous painters (Warhol, Rothko, Monet, etc) to sculptures and artifacts you don't typically see from Nepal, Korea, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. The museum is beautiful and kept extremely clean. As a tourist in Cleveland, this was my favorite spot.

I love it here. So many wonderful pieces and famous artworks. It's free and never too crowded. Being in a wheelchair it's mostly accessible, a few areas are hard to do the doors in the older sections, but the new areas are fantastic and open. They have a beautiful atrium that has tables on one side where you can eat lunch. Their daily tour is a must also. They are friendly and knowledgeable.

Wish I had more time to visit here. I was working on a limited schedule when I came, but enjoyed what I did get to see. The museum is clean and beautiful. Even the grounds outside and quite lovely to walk around and enjoy. I found staff extremely helpful when I had questions, or even when I was trying to navigate how to get to specific areas. At one point I was very tired after such a long day and stopped to take a break, and one of the employees came and had the nicest chat with me for a bit. I felt like it was such a friendly and welcoming vibe, as he gave me ideas of things in the area. As I was leaving, another team member helped me figure out a local place to eat. I found all the exhibits well organized and spaced out very well, so that people were not bumping into one another. When I'm back in OH in a couple of months, I will be coming back to see more.

One of the most outstanding museums I've ever visited. There is something to enjoy here for everyone, from toddlers to the elderly. The art is epic, The food in the cafe delicious, the store filled with all kinds of delights, the special exhibitions are epic! Don't miss this. Worth a special trip!

Attended MIXATCMA and the theme for the month of September was VOGUE!! I visited the current Korean Couture Exhibit and the pieces were absolutely breathtaking. Visitors are able to time travel and learn about the unique story behind Korean fashion from early modern to contemporary times. The event also featured live models that were beautifully dressed. I also visited a separate gallery titled Fairytales and Fabled that showcased bold illustrations and storytelling in art. We also enjoyed some food and drinks throughout the night and overall had an amazing time!!

Wow! We came from Oberlin College into Cleveland for a quick visit, only had 3 hours to spare, and we all agreed that The Cleveland Museum of Art was the BEST use of our time!! It is stunning! And admission is free! We paid for parking and snacks in the cafe, both pretty reasonable. I tried twice to buy things in the awesome gift shop but the lines were too long both times and I had to catch up with my family, so I left without buying souvenirs. Art was incredible. I spent most of my time in the Modern wing. Calder, Pollack, Rothko. So many favorites!

Omg.. huge place with amazing art. We need a week to come here and see everything. Easy parking was $14, friendly staff. Did we mention free entry?

While visiting my son he suggested we visit the Cleveland museum for the Picasso and Paper exhibit. It did not disappoint. We were very impressed with not only that exhibit but the entire museum with all of its displayed artworks. Employees were helpful, the museum runs smoothly and very client friendly. Clean, spacious - you could spend the whole day here. Unfortunately we were tight on time before our flight and we were not able to enjoy the entire museum but highly recommend.

I went to the Cleveland Museum of Art a few months after visiting the renowned Art Institute of Chicago, and while I have a good time at art museums regardless, I was not expecting to feel so similarly blown away. What a wonderful place this is! I was amazed that admission was free, and folks from the start were so friendly and kind. I only had two hours, so I did a hustle through with guidance from some of the docents on what to make sure I viewed. I'll skip the reviews of the art itself because I am not an art critic, but I will say the scope was pretty impressive. Highlights to me were the armor room and the "glass box" of sculpture. I found the accompanying art and artifact information to be insightful and well-written, too. The museum itself is beautiful and pretty easy to navigate with the map; if you get lost, again, someone will help you quickly. Visiting on a Thursday afternoon in November gave me a quiet experience that I'd highly recommend anyone interested aim for. The neighborhood the art museum is in is stunning, too, and worth a walk around if the weather allows. I cannot wait to go back.

One of the finest art museums in the country. Always top line special shows and exhibitions. They bring world class music in for programs and concerts. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful time at the museum exploring the "Picturing the Border" photography exhibition. The images were incredible--if you're into photography or a photographer yourself, this is definitely a must-see!

There are many good things about this museum, but the best is that it has free admission. That is unusual for a city museum, and I love that it makes the art accessible to anyone and everyone. The parking is either on the street or in the parking garage for $12. The cafe offerings were very mediocre (ie chicken tenders) but the museum gift shop was full of cool and unusual items. The museum is not huge, but the collections are pretty diverse. They seem to focus heavily on European, Medieval, Renaissance and religious iconography. I would have enjoyed more Impressionist works, but that is just personal taste. The contemporary art gallery is small, but has some very interesting pieces by younger artists.

This is a magnificent structure of historic buildings intertwined by an indoor courtyard. What fills it is impressive, too. The drawbacks are that while free, it has paid parking. There's plenty of parking in the general area, some free, but it was an unhappy surprise for me. The more substantial issue is that while the art itself was great, the captions often betrayed a sort of craven idiocy, with mealymouthed statements about how they were trying to figure out what to do with some of their illegitimately obtained African artifacts, or how no one really knows who the Egyptian people are, or how none of the indigenous peoples of the Americas have any words for art. It's just hard not to notice this stuff, and it's concerning both in that not everyone will recognize it as nonsense, and in that I'm not all-knowing either, so I probably unknowingly bought into some BS as well. So while I found the art itself thought-provoking, I had to actively try and avoid whatever spin was being put on it. The collections were quite global and contained a variety of historically interesting pieces. A paid exhibition on Renaissance Europe was going on in the basement, but it sounded less interesting than the halls full of mythology and history. There were opportunities to poke one's head outdoors or to get some sunlight indoors. An interactive high-tech room had things like a vision tracker where you look at a painting and the computer tells you where your eyes went on the image and for how long. Thankfully, I think the art is what I'll remember.

What a wonderful place to wander. Their permanent collection is impressive and the rotating exhibits were also cool. I love the open common area bridging the two spaces. The folks working were very friendly and happy to offer suggestions with my limited time.

They have good food, entrance is free, and the spaces they have are quite expansive, I would take more than one day to get through everything for sure. Apart from inside the museum, the rest of its property is gorgeous too.

Definitely one of my favorite museums to visit. Such a beautiful space and the collections are vast, relevant, and appropriate. And to top it all off, admission is free! Highly recommended to anyone looking for a top notch museum experience!

We are so fortunate to have this museum in Cleveland. It's a gem. My reason for 4 stars is the pricing for food in the restaurant and in the gift shop and now the parking. I thought members got free parking. I mean membership went up. Hmmm

Great for the price lol, wonderful experience. Parking was a bit of a challenge but was great for a visit for a few hours. Some excellent rare pieces (their own praxiteles statue) but a lot of local art as well.

A world class museum. We strolled around for a few hours. We all thought that you would need more than one day to fairly take the whole place in. The antiquities were amazing. The common space and atrium were major league. The prized Caravaggio and Monet were wonderful. We spent a good bit of time in the Armory section. Highly recommend a visit and a return. This is an institution that Cleveland must be so proud of. The collection is incredible and free entrance. Came with two local families who had never been inside. Our ages range from 12-55 and we all agreed that this is an experience that everyone will remember. We all rated our impressions from 0-10 a unanimous 10 or best times. I give it a 11 because it's free. No money needed. This is the sweetest deal ever.

So much to see! I haven't been here since I was younger so when I was in the area I decided to take my kids to check it out. You can spend an hour to all day here depending on what you want to see. They have a coat check for free and free stroller rentals. They have a specific bag policy too. I highly recommend getting a map when you come in to help guide you along. Most of the art areas flow together and make it easy enough to follow but if you want to see something specific a map will help point you the right way. There are also plenty of people available to assist if you have questions. The elevators can be tricky to find as well if you can't take the stairs to go directly to an exhibit. The large atrium area is also great to hang out in. There is a cafe to get food as well.

I was amazed! There is a lot to see! Probably would need many days to cover it all. New old and older. All styles. All countries. Beautiful grounds and building. Worth a visit. Decent food and drinks if you are indulging. Loved it!

GREAT art museum. Such a beautiful, open interior with a ton of natural light, a respectable collection of art, and best of all, FREE ADMISSION. I like to go study in the atrium; a lot of families and older folk like to eat lunch and drink coffee there, so the vibes are immaculate, especially on a weekday afternoon. The cafe food is surprisingly really good with great variety. They have flatbreads, sandwiches, salads, and even a sushi bar. The food is also surprisingly affordable; you can get a giant cookie from the bakery for only $2. Highly highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. It's one of my favorite spots in the city.

The Cleveland Museum of Art is incredible. First of all, it's FREE!!!! So you really can't lose anything or beat the value. We did make the mistake of coming on a Monday once, which is when they're closed, but since we only live a short walk away, it was no big deal. We returned the next day and visited the various exhibits. I've been a few times but came most recently to show my sister around, who was visiting Cleveland for the first time. One of the museum staff saw that we were trying to take a selfie to commemorate our time together and he asked if he could take a photo for us! We agreed and he started taking photos at all angles and lighting and really felt like a full-on photo shoot! He was so warm and friendly and funny and now we have some beautiful photos to remember our trip to Cleveland together. The art is beautiful, with some of my favorites being the Pollock piece. Every time I visit I feel like I see a new exhibit. I got to see a cool and very colorful exhibit portraying the importance of wigs and hair in black women culture and the way the artist depicted it was so beautiful. I'll be back often, at least every other week!!

Huge art museum! There was so much to learn here, and I'm so grateful it's free because I spent three hours alone just going through the contemporary art exhibit. I definitely want to come back soon because there was so much here and it's going to take some time- definitely an all day event! Number one must see is the armory! So cool to see so many pieces that were used throughout history. I also recommend the Cleveland artists portion in the contemporary exhibit- it gave a great history about Cleveland through art!

absolutely loved this museum and wished we could've stayed longer. i went on a trip and was looking for some things to kill some time and decided to check it out. the art was gorgeous, the design and architecture of the building itself was aesthetically pleasing and overall an enjoyable place to walk and enjoy some exhibits. highly recommend for a chill day out

Can we talk about how this is one of the best museums in Ohio? I am from Toledo so if there was a battle of the museums, the Toledo Museum of Art has a contender to match its grandeur. We are talking Classical art, African Art, Mesopotamian pieces, works from Japan, Indian Art, and Native American Art... I LOVE THIS MUSEUM. As an artist myself, it is nice to see the history of marks made and why works were created as well as for whom. It's important to see what culture lies within the work. The atrium is big and beautiful with that glass ceiling that you can stare at the sky from. A multitude of exhibits on each floor and separate rooms with different themes. There is so much walking! I love it. You could easily spend the whole day there! They have a gift shop there as well! 5 stars!

The Cleveland Museum of Art is such a gem - and free to the public! That's right - you have no excuse not to visit. The only thing you need a ticket for is either an event or a traveling exhibit. Otherwise, walk on in and view some treasures! The CMA rivals any museum in the country. The breadth of the collection is breath-taking. You could spend several days here and still not see everything that the museum has to offer. Some might find this overwhelming, so I'll suggest that you go to my favorite spot: take the escalator up to the second floor, turn left and then another quick right until you come to the end of a hall with floor to ceiling windows that look out onto Wade Oval - open the doors and VOILA - you are now in my favorite segment of the museum. Here you'll find amazing early-American furniture displays, nineteenth century landscapes, and twentieth century American paintings. Some of my favorite pieces in this section: - The Power of Music by William Sidney Mount - The Burning of the House of Lords and Commons by J. M. W. Turner and William Turner - Early Morning After a Storm at Sea by Winslow Homer I'm sure everyone who is a CMA fan has their own favorite pieces. You'll be surprised how many world-renowned pieces you'll come across in the CMA's collection. They have so many amazing ones that they have to rotate which ones are up. On a recent visit I actually found that 2 of 3 of my favorites listed above are 'taking a rest', as it were, and there are others up in their places currently. One of my favorite aspects of the CMA being free to the public and nestled in between many amazing Cleveland universities is that you'll often find students here sketching and learning from the masters. The CMA is basically like the library for art - all can come and learn here. Ok the last thing I'll gush about is just outside the doors of the CMA - Wade Oval. There couldn't be a lovelier spot to take a stroll before or after a stroll through amazing art - and I especially suggest this when the weather isn't as nice because you'll have the space to yourself.
