The Cliff House at Pikes Peak

What a great historic location. We could fault our recent stay at The cliff House from check in, to wait staff and the grounds. I have read comments about it being tired, I disagree, I didn't get that feeling at all. The place is old but the room was comfortable and large. The bed was great (especially after the incline). The restaurant was great and the bar was equally as good. It was lovely sitting outside besides the fire. Could be anymore closer to town Main Street. Would recommend and stay again. Thank you for a great stay.

A wonderful historic hotel Beautifully built. The staff- everyone were simply the best- none better anywhere! We enjoyed our 4-day visit. Dining room is first class with well prepared dishes. 10 minutes from the Cog RR. Across the street from the Arcade- and many shops and dining locations. A superb Manitou location and easy to walk or ride the free shuttle. This staff is amazingly attentive to guests! Wow. A must stay!! 🚂♥️😎

We stayed at a historic hotel near Pikes Peak, and it truly felt like stepping back in time. The property is full of vintage charm and classic character. While the atmosphere has an old-fashioned feel, everything — from the surroundings and room cleanliness to the attentive service — made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. We would happily return again. The nearby Old Town area is unique and full of character, perfect for strolling and exploring. Our favorite spot was Manitou Brewing Company, where we enjoyed a fantastic Bingo night and made some great memories.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by staying at this hotel. We've stayed here several times over the past decade. We had a suite that included a gas fireplace, mountain view, and large hot tub--and it was a very good value. The ambiance, especially during the holiday season is fantastic--charming, historic, and romantic. But it has gone downhill over the years, and they seem to have stopped touching up and renovating as most places would. But on the other hand, the history is part of the charm and it was a good value.

This history that this hotel holds is great! The rooms have stayed true to their original charm, with some upgrades, the staff is friendly and professional, the on site restaurants are terrific, and the location is unbeatable! My husband and I thought we’d stay here once to say we did it, but we are hooked and will definitely be staying again.

The staff are all very personable and welcoming. Upon checking in, they upgraded our room for free giving us an incredible view and experience. We had a warm fireplace, a couch, and large spa tub that we used several times. The size of the rooms here made us feel like royalty. It felt like staying at a 5 star hotel. This has been our favorite romantic place to stay for the last 3 years. Wouldn't change a thing!

I’ve loved The Cliff House at Pikes Peak for years. My grandmother helped save it from demolition in the 1990s, so it holds deep personal and family significance. The staff still delivers excellent service, but the physical environment is lagging far behind its advertised four-star rating. The décor screams “late‑90s luxury,” yet the chairs, linens, and robes show wear and tear, starting to look shabby, not chic. This last trip was for my grandmother’s funeral, and we couldn’t even hold our traditional family brunch—the buffet is gone, and à la carte breakfast over $20 per entrée made it cost-prohibitive. Until management invests in serious refurbishments, families and travelers should set expectations accordingly or consider alternatives in Manitou Springs that truly match both service and quality.

The hotel is nice and well maintained. Comfortable bedding and the bar/grill has nice affordable options. We had an issue with the room, however director Cara, I believe is her name handled everything professionally and thoroughly to make up for the issue we were having with the room. What could have ruined an evening was made up by the professionalism and kindness shown by Cara. Thank you.

Such a lovely historic hotel with friendly staff. The room we stayed in was good size considering its age and the valet parking made it easy. The location is centered in an ideal location for walking in the historic district. We dined here as well on the veranda and couldn't be more pleased with the food and the experience.

So I see my last review was around 3 years ago..I gave 3 stars then and it doesn't change. The had a March $20 prime rib special so we thought "lets go!" The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and half way through dinner an acoustic guitar player started. It does make for a nice atmosphere. I would say our server, Matt, was good and attentive. The dinner included a 6oz prim, a few green beans, baked potato and a salad in a small bowl, all on the one plate. You had two choices of dressing ranch or he said vinegar, but I guess really vinaigrette. The prime was a thin slice, but at 6oz I guess it has to be. It was fine, but my wife said mine (on the smoker) was much better. My wife had a Nutella torte, she thought it was dry. A customer next to us ordered the German chocolate cake, said it was bad and sent it back. I asked for a Irish coffee, I'm used to getting that in a bigger cup to allow for the Baileys and Jamison along with the coffee. In this case, it was a small coffee cup, so I'm not sure if I was shorted on the Baileys and Jamison. It kind of felt that way though. Anyway to sum it up for us, it was fine. Not great, but not bad. Though it'll probably be a while till we go again with all the competition around

Everything was far beyond expectation. Our valet appeared out of nowhere before I could walk in and ask. The front desk was helpful and sweet, and ice was delivered to our room. All of the shops and restaurants are in walking distance, and the restaurant and bar in the hotel are amazing. We will be back and definitely recommend!

Beautiful, well-kept historic hotel with great amenities and a very comfortable bed. Unfortunately, the front desk staff was not welcoming, which took away from the overall experience. A warmer, more professional attitude would have made a big difference. Giving 2 stars because the service didn't match the quality of the hotel.

Mixed feelings about this place. Every person we encountered was lovely and professional. The valet system was clear, friendly, and quick, and the front desk staff were great. The hotel itself was beautiful, and I enjoyed seeing photographs and information throughout the hotel for context about its history. Some photos/items were unlabeled, and one of the photos in our room was just sitting in a frame without any matting, so that was strange. The beds were comfortable (maybe a bit too soft and sunken from wear), and the room was beautiful, but there was a bit of a smell when we checked in and we had to re-clean the toilet. The hallways smelled of strong air freshener, which was off-putting and probably covered the sewage smell mentioned by other reviewers. On the other hand, they left care packages whenever we had the "do not disturb" sign out and the turn down service was sweet. The heated toilet seat is fine, although it does make the seat a bit loose, which cheapened it especially because we had to clean it ourselves. We only had breakfast at the hotel once and we were so disappointed. The buffet looked "just ok" so we ordered a la carte items. For $18+ a plate, we got cold butter balls, little jars of jam like a Cracker Barrel, frozen hash brown triangles, fruit that had clearly been in the fridge for too long and was funky, cold coffee (maybe because the metal carafe conducts heat?), etc. There weren't many breakfast places in walking distance of the hotel, but even the local coffee shops did a much better job for cheaper. Ridiculous. The bar and grill at the other end of the building had a nice ambiance and good service. Overall, I would stay again for the location and I give this place a little slack for being an old building, but the quality and cleanliness could definitely be better!

Honestly Horrid. The People that work here are rude. The Lady named Kara is mean and has an attitude. The bathrooms are gross. Everytime I have booked to stay here, I use the Dining Room Bathroom, DISGUSTING. Always fecal matter somewhere in there. Learn how to do better. And anytime I have got my food it's COLD. Nobody wants to eat cold food that has NO flavor. They treat their Staff there Horribly and let minors smoke weed.

*The Great* Beautiful property with elegant, Victorian inspired decor. Each room is uniquely designed so each stay is different from the last! Located within walking distance of Manitou Springs' charming shops, eateries, miles of trails, caves, caverns, history, and multiple unique mineral springs - bring an empty water bottle! We stayed in 2 rooms during our stay - the first was the E.E. Nichols Premier Celebrity Suite. The second was the F.W. Woolworth Celebrity Suite. LOVE their turndown service, complete with chocolates, their Cliff House newsletter with a bit of history and weather, and a bedside welcome mat. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and each had their own very unique charm! Very spacious. Both rooms had illuminated and heated toilet seats. Unfortunately we ran into a lot of features that didn't work (which were significant factors of why we booked the suites vs standard rooms). Which leads us to ... *The Not So Great* Our Premier Celebrity Suite boasted a gas fireplace which, as you may have guessed from the leading paragraph, was not functioning. When I informed the front desk about it, she stated to me that they received regular complaints of it not working prior to our check-in which was disappointing that we weren't informed of this ahead of time. This was not the only thing that was not functional. The steam shower only operated as a normal shower - the steam jets never turned on even after we let it run and warm up for much longer than instructed. The second room was a bit dirty - hair/ debris on the bedding and in the bathroom/ tub. Their buffet breakfast is not great :( The dining room is absolutely lovely but the food is inedible. One of the main servings is an egg casserole that is most definitely made with powdered egg substitute as it is very spongy and has a quite offensive taste and texture. I overheard several other guests complaining and pushing their plates aside, which I had done as well after a single bite. Disappointing for a $500/ night hotel. We were expecting something more on par with The Broadmoor's buffet breakfast but what we experienced was what you would get from your run-of-the-mill, low-budget hotel. We didn't eat dinner here as we made reservations elsewhere in Manitou Springs but we did go for drinks at The Red Mountain Bar & Grill. Service was almost nonexistent - slow and unfriendly would be a huge understatement. Lastly, and most importantly, was our experience at checkout. Multiple times during our stay we let the front desk know that we had been given a gift card for part of our stay. Repeatedly we were told, by multiple staff members during check-in and on the second day after we received our first night itinerary, that they could not accept the gift card up front and we needed to present it after checkout. When we returned to the front desk after check out, we were then told that it was too late to accept the gift card and we should have given it to them beforehand ... ugh. They ended up taking our gift card and said a member of management, who was not present, would have to look into it. In the meantime, we paid in full for our stay. I heard nothing in the days and weeks following and called numerous times just to be told by staff they couldn't help me and they or I could leave a message for the manager. Which I did several times before eventually receiving an email with a receipt for a credit card adjustment stating "Guest has decided to pay with $300 GC after their check out." which was a bit upsetting because we in fact did NOT choose to pay with it after checkout, we were instructed multiple times to do so and staff refused to run it up front. And adding insult to injury, I never received the refund on my credit card for the gift card adjustment, a gift card they now had possession of. The issue was never resolved and I ended up having to call my credit card company and disputing the charges, something I have never had to do before. I really want to love this hotel with its unique, turn of the century charm. It is so absolutely beautiful. But our experiences here have been so unfortunate, that I don't think we could justify the cost of the rooms @ $500/ night to give it another chance. For a similar price, we'd soon stay at The Broadmoor for a better experience and value :( Bummer! This hotel has such huge potential!!!

This hotel charged two of my credit cards a no show fee after never confirming a room. I've been passed around on hold for 3 days now, apparently they have no manager or upper staff members who can answer their phone. I will be going through my credit card reversing my charges. This customer service is absolutely atrocious.

For my birthday my husband graciously treated me to a night at this historic hotel in Manitou Springs. It was built I believe around 1873, and was once a stagecoach stop. Several celebrities from years past have stayed there, including President Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Edison, Clark Gable and showman, P.T. Barnum, to name few. Styled in Victorian style, we stayed in the P.T. Barnum suite. The room was very nice, only one snafu. My husband had arranged for champagne and a rose and chocolate covered strawberries and candies to be in the room. They were there, but so were 3 men working on the air conditioning. They were in our room for almost an hour, trying to fix whatever problem was going on. Not exactly romantic and that was kind of a bummer. I'm kinda shocked they actually let us into the room while repairs were going on, but whatever. Finally, the workman left and it was a nice stay from that point on. We had breakfast in the dining room the following morning. My husband opted for the breakfast buffet, and I ordered the Croque Monsiuer sandwich with a side of home fries. Mimosas were delicious. Despite the rocky start, we had a nice visit and I would return.

The Cliff House has luxurious amenities, like heated toilet seats and weighted bathrobes, that add a touch of comfort one craves when spending time away from their own home. The staff was friendly and accommodating, though we did experience some difficulty with the a/c in our room. Upon our arrival, the temperature was almost up to 80°. Thankfully the front desk sent a maintenance man, and within ten minutes he had the space cooling back down to a breathable level. Breakfast is included, and the location itself is close to restaurants, coffee shops, souvenir stores and more. Looking forward to going back!

We stayed at The Cliff House and had an amazing time! The staff was remarkable and the stay at The Cliff House was top notch. Clean rooms, amazing food and a great location. The Red Mountain bar and grill attached is awesome as well. David one of the bartenders was fantastic , great customer service. Bradford was awesome as well, both took the time to make sure our stay was great . Chris helped with picking out an amazing bottle of Italian wine! . As awesome as the hotel itself is the staff is what made our stay even better . I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back !

My boyfriend and I just came home from a wonderful weekend in Manitou thanks to his mom. She normally stays at The Broadmoor but was looking for a place downtown for all of us. As a 30-year AAA member I take their travel and hotel recs seriously. This is a 4-Diamond hotel on the National Historic Registry that, for the most part, lived up to the hype. We had a few gripes, some which come with three territory of an old building from the late 1800's, but we really felt like home there. Perfect location for walking everywhere on the main drag which is Manitou Ave. Gift shop and arcade across the street and a cute park and pavilion that hosted the Manipalooza event this weekend with awesome food trucks and silent disco. Don't forget to get tickets in advance for the Cog Railway to Pikes Peak if you come here and haven't been. 'Tis amazing. Thank you, Cliff House!!

Went in December. So absolutely perfect. Bartender was awesome, food just as awesome. Loved every second of the stay

It's the little things that are important: Holes under the wall mounted TV, loose light bulb connectors and lamp stems, bathroom fixtures not working properly, and overall decorative installations not in proper working order have an impact; a surprise to the front desk. Our room had an inoperable fireplace and shower steamer. The items above were not in working order. In our case, in lieu of the fireplace - compensated for with a space heater - and steam shower, we were offered the breakfast buffet. The desk deserves a kudo here. I am not a 'freebees fan' to replace the real thing, but we had no choice with a pre-reserved check-in. The 'hot' buffet consisted primarily of scrambled eggs and sausages in a chaffing dish. The hotel promotes itself as historically significant but not in the same state as it was back in time.

Really beautiful building! Valet and front desk people were friendly and helpful. It seems there was a plumbing issue though because for the time that we stayed, there was an awful smell of sewage in the hallways and room. There was also multiple trays/plates of half eaten food in the hallways (room service plates) that were there when we checked in and still hadnt been cleaned up by the time we checked out the next day. Overall not impressed for the price that we paid!

Staff was friendly, helpful, professional. Hotel is historic but very loud, and maybe the problem I describe here is inherent in historic hotels. The first night there was a vibration in our room around bedtime that finally subsided and we got a good night's sleep. The second night, however, the vibration was very strong and incessant. It was both loud and shook the bed. At 11:45 PM we asked night staff what could be done. They tried to make it right by moving us to a different room and giving us breakfast vouchers. Unfortunately, the second room had a fireplace whose pilot flames were so bright we had to sleep with an eye mask and there was an additional noise from the ventilation system pervasive the whole night. Even earplugs didn't block it out and we slept very little. As stated above, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The next morning we realized that the vibration was likely caused from the bathroom fan left on all night in an adjacent hotel room. The location of the hotel was excellent. I appreciated that the restrooms adjacent to the dining room were clean and provided washable linens rather than paper towels. That was a nice touch. However I would not stay here again since getting sleep is a priority. Also wish they would provide ceramic coffee cups in room rather than paper wrapped in plastic. The hotel tries to be elegant and does offer actual glasses for water. Why not for coffee too? The service by excellent staff is the reason for a three-star review rather than two. This hotel trains its staff well.

I have gone to the Cliff House twice this year. The meal was good both times. My issue is that both times Ive gone they have been out of certain entrees. They only offer like 6 options and so when you go and 2 of them are not available, and one of their 3 appetizers is not either, its disappointing and not very professional. If you are interested in going I suggest you call before you leave and check to see if their full menu is available.

Heated toilet seats!!! Comfortable check in and very friendly front desk staff. Just a one night stay over thanksgivingstay, but we were pleased with this historical establishment. The rooms are decorated in traditional style and spacious. The bed was generally comfortable but the wall behind it was vibrating the entire time. We stayed in a junior suite and the check-in guy said that it's one of their best rooms in that category so we did not upgrade and could've had a better night sleep. We did the breakfast included with our room in the morning and were off, put by overt racially fueled statements by the serving staff. The same staff is also complaining about their job. Just seems like a very unhappy person really. Additional lack of safety for people of color is some of the guests. Well that changes so I can't say that that's gonna be something another person encounters when they stay here. But we had a really unpleasant encounter with one of the guests outside, and would not wish that upon anybody especially during the holidays.

The Cliff House was a wonderful hotel in the heart of Manitou. Seriously, if you pick a hotel only on location this is the one! We have been locked in our house for over a year (like everyone else), so we splurged on our first weekend away and got one of their signature suites (the Clark Gable). This beauty sits on the 5th floor (with only one other suite) and has views from the front on Manitou towards the main drag and the back has views of the houses that speckle the mountains. Our room had a fireplace (didn't use as it was July), two person jet tub (really fit two people, but only half the jets worked), a King size bed, double vanity, steam shower (awesome after a day of hiking), heated toilet seat (way too hot, we turned it off), a seating area and wet bar. Seriously, it had it all - even skylights with motorized blinds. It is a historic hotel, so rooms are old school, but well maintained. The AC was great for us and we were there on days it was 90! Parking is a nightmare in Manitou so we just sucked it up and valeted for $15/day - this is one thing that I wish they would discount if you stay there. Plus they charge one of those resort fees that is like $20/day and includes Wifi, gym, breakfast and turn down service (which is chocolates and they pull down the bedding). That seemed super exorbitant to me. Exspecially since were were paying close to $400/night. Price was probably my biggest gripe. Lots of little charges here and there. However, the front desk, maids and all others were very professional and friendly. The location was unmatched - just awesome. The room was very comfortable. The hotel was quiet and well maintained. It is a gem - you just will pay through the nose for it!

We stayed here two nights. We couldn't get a room at the Broadmoor and thought this was the next best thing. We thought wrong. Not even close. The place is old and hasn't been renovated recently. The window unit air conditioner was held in by duct tape. The shower floor moved because the flooring underneath was not stable. The tub was dingy and uninviting. Breakfast was certainly not 4 star. Very little selection and service was non-existent. Would not recommend and would never stay here again.

It was great. Victorian Hotel and excellent restaurant. Better than the Broadmore. Excellent dessert. It is pricey but great service. The hotel room was comfortable and I'd stay again. You do have to use their valet as parking is difficult and pay. Buy it was a nice service.

This is a delightful hidden gem! Customer service still exists here. The ambiance was just right to get work done, to rest, to eat delicious food, to reset. Tobey was the ultimate breakfast hostess! I am gluten-free/dairy-free. She went above & beyond to make sure I had a wonderful culinary experience. The GM is on-site, intimately involved in this business to make sure every guest has the best experience possible.

So beautiful! I loved how historic the place is, and our room was so cute! The heated toilet seat is a plus, so now I know that winter time would be cozy if we ever came back to visit during that time. Comfy bed, super friendly staff, and the exploration of the hotel makes the entire stay a very lovely one. Also the free breakfast was better than the usual continental breakfasts. I felt like that breakfast itself paid a good chunk of the hotel price due to how high quality it seemed.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful property at the beginning of October for a few nights. Everything & everyone was exceptional. The staff were amazing, and made our stay outstanding. The staff went above & beyond to accommodate us. The suite that we stated in was fabulous, (The Teddy Roosevelt suite). We had the buffet breakfast, and the food was delicious, the staff were attentive, the breakfast room was super clean, and had a perfect view, it was such a relaxing breakfast. We would recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting Manitou Springs. You will not be disappointed, this was an absolutely amazing vacation. We took an Uber from and to the airport. The hotel is in such a good location, that we walked everywhere. 100% recommend The Cliff House at Pikes Peak!

The Cliff House at Pike Peak is the place to stay if you are looking for service, charm, character and beautiful historical surrounds. the morning breakfast served in the sun room, awesome. We stayed in The Buffalo Bill Suite, you would be amazed. 'True to the nature of the old west and Buffalo Bill. Stone Fireplace. Enormous room, fast ceilings with a surprise. you will sleep under the stars and feel like you ventured back to simpler times. Visit Manate Springs, and stay at the Cliff House. You will not regret it.

Great hotel in the middle of everything,yet for enough away from the traffic of this busy little town. We stayed here to be close to to the Manitou Incline and it was perfect. This small mountain town of Manitou is perfect in every way. So many places to eat, shop and just walk around. This hotel is across the street from the town post office and tucked behind the main road with all the traffic and visitors. Our room was comfortable and spacious, the bed was comfortable and the staff was helpful. In the music room you can get cocktails until 10pm and in the morning they have coffee and a complementary buffet. We didn't stay for the buffet,but the coffee was great. Valet is really convenient here as the parking is difficult with all the road construction going on. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommended this hotel if your looking to stay in Manitou. Enjoy!

This is just a neat place. We rented two rooms for our family of 4. It was clean, comfortable, and I loved the fireplace in the rooms. I love the idea of the heaters in the bathrooms and the heated toilet seats! However they were not working in the room I was staying in. They were in the other one, I tried them out there and they were nice! I think that's my only complaint. We ate breakfast here the next morning and there was a variety offered. I had fruit, oatmeal and coffee. You can ride the bus to the cog train at pikes peak. There is an arcade across the street. Unfortunately we did not get to do these things because we visited the day the crazy arctic blast hit and pikes peak was shut down due to dangerous temps! But will come back in summer for that. I would stay here again.

The most romantic place I've ever been to! And it has that haunted vibe too!! Everyone was so nice! Everywhere we went everyone said hello! Our room had such an epic view and it snowed it was perfect! We had a steam shower as well as a hot tub! The hotel restaurant had a great view and good breakfast, I saw a man jogging in shorts while it was snowing The bar downstairs had great cocktails and super nice bartender. We are for sure going back for our anniversary love love love this place!!

The location is hard to beat. Right in the middle of town which allows for easy access to all the shops and restaurants. More importantly for my trip, access to The Incline and Barr Trail which is a short .80 mile walk to the trailheads. As for the hotel: rooms were dated, but it is a historic hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was typical fare.

We stayed in the wonderfully appointed Firestone Suite. The suite was very comfortable with wonderful views. The bed was extremely comfortable. If there was any local noise we didn't know because slept like logs. We had driven from KC and the steam shower was the perfect remedy after such a long journey. The bar restaurant was excellent as was the service. The hotel is lose to trails and we loved the little town. We'll definitely be coming back.

Lobby area is nice. Outside dining area. Great wedding venue. Great place for family reunions and get togethers. The Hotel Staff and Valet service has been absolutely 5-Star. The room (407) has been warm and required additional fan and open windows at night to cool the room. The tub is a huge spa tub. It has about 20 rooms in the neighborhood of $300/night. The Hotel "Breakfast Staff" lacks training for customer service to the public. Very focused on getting tasks done and very little focus on the actual customers. But the setting is excellent. The food that is on the buffet is excellent; the amount of food is also lacking.

Be cautious of believing this is a four star property! Serious problems with accuracy of reservations and denial of early checkin arrangements! The General Manager simply needs attention as his ego doesn't allow the issues to be corrected. You can find better accommodations in Manitou Springs and save too!

A group of friends and I are all coming out to Pikes Peak at the end of June and although I have not stayed at The Cliff House yet, I am extremely excited for our visit. Yesterday I called to confirm and fix a reservation that I made an error on, I spoke to a wonderful Lady named Lisa. She was so lovely and went above and beyond to help me. I can't wait to meet the wonderful staff here and I have no doubt our stay will be excellent! :)

The good for the start. Clean room. Nice hotel. The bad. Made reservations 3 months prior to arrival. Two rooms. On king and one two queens. Put under my name and friends name. They out both reservations under one name. Called and asked them to fix it. They never did. A week or two prior to arrival received a e mail with just one reservation. Under friends name. Out of confusion called hotel. Our king bed reservation was gone. They said they were "sold out". But could get us a room with two queens, that was all available. I said ok but change that reservation to our name. Never did. Staff was confused when we arrived. Guess I should be thankful we got a room. Asked for compensation and they offered a 6$ bottle of champagne. Paid 750$ for two nights in an room that should be 400$ at most. Our windows overlooked the roof ac units 2 feet from window. Thankful the noise was not that bad. Bottom line is I will never stay here again and a warning to others, you don't get what you pay for here. Oh and they said we were in room 202. There is no room 202, it's called the Sequoia room. Took us 15 minutes to figure this out. Gave us a room key and the key cards would not work. They knew this but said "just in case". Just tell the truth for gods sake.

We had a wonderful stay! We were graciously welcomed at the front desk by Sara, and the other gentleman during our stay...check in was so easy, and the warmth of the staff made it a pleasure to see their faces for the few days were were there. I was excited about the upgrade we received to stay in the Teddy Roosevelt suite! Lovely room, with a nice view, a fireplace, heated toilet seat, duel showers, towel rack warmer, nice deep jacuzzi tub! Delicious chocolate pieces were were awaiting on the bed when we arrived to our room to the turn down service. Breakfast was part of the room cost - and it was wonderful! Fresh veggie omelet, scrambled eggs/bacon/sausages/potatoes/cereal/muffins and fresh coffee and juices...breakfast is wonderful, and the service there was outstanding. Beautiful, charming, historic Cliff House is located in downtown Manitou Springs, and is amidst souvenir shops, boutiques, sweet vendors - all walking distance through this enchanting town. We did take a short trip to the Dinosaur Museum for our 6 year old. Garden of the Gods is also a worthy visit! A BIG thumbs up for a perfect stay...The food there is absolutely fabulous, and I recommend having breakfast, lunch or dinner in Cliff House's veranda! We would love to come back!

The atmosphere in the lobby was cozy and relaxing, and the food and service at the restaurant is unmatched. The servers went above and beyond yeah, they were extremely friendly, didn't let your glass go empty, extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. Each course was a star of its own. I highly recommend the French onion soup, crabcakes, and Colorado Lamb. I tried a few other dishes on the menu and they were very good. You will be very pleased with the scenery, food, atmosphere and service at this restaurant.

Located in the beautiful town of Manitou Springs. This hotel is a historical building with its old charm preserved. Our room was a great size, king bed with a fireplace and a separate large bath w/jetted tub. All the amenities were perfect which also included warm comfy robes. The service was impeccable, everyone was so kind and professional. We especially loved how the front desk and valet always asked how was your day, how was your dinner? It was like returning home.. We enjoyed our breakfasts and absolutely loved the dinner we had in their dinning room. In the evening, they will turn down your bed and leave chocolates in your room. I could go on and on about how charming, warm and romantic this place is. If you're looking for an ultra modern hotel, this is not the place for you.

this was a good surprise very nice hotel we had a suite very interesting architectural room. European type services room was very clean and nice the breakfasts were beyond my expectations very good location for seeing pikes Peak you're in a small town where they have stores and some restaurants. we ate dinner at hotel the most Upscale in that area without driving two times the first time had some issues the manager fix them !!the second night I had the trout which was delicious I would highly recommend this hotel valet parking is $15 but you can park on the street there's no problem finding a place on the side street !! The only issue I had is it's a mandatory $20 extra per night per room for Wi-Fi and other incidentals !!( The body cream body wash soap etc. which most hotels include. they did include the breakfast which made it not as unappealing as if the breakfast wasn't included I must say it's the best hotel and one I would stay at again in this area !!!

We live close by but were fortunate to enjoy a mini-vaca at this beautiful hotel in Manitou Springs, CO! With an older, times-gone-by vibe, this place is classically decorated with cabbage rose drawn-back curtains and antique furnishings. Everything you need is provided in your room, with a mini-fridge, bathrobes, safe, and iron in the closet. In the bathroom a roomy shower, hairdryer, plenty of shelving, and the pièce de résistance, a heated toilet seat! The provided toiletries were nicely scented and lux. A wonderful 2 cup coffee maker with Wolfgang Puck coffee was a great surprise. A few cons were that the tv was in an armoire and didn't pull out fully, so no watching from the bed. We pulled over the wing chairs so that we could watch tv. But they weren't at all cushy! As an older building would, the floors creek a bit, the bathroom door stuck and made a screech, and neighbors upstairs had heavy foot falls. Because of covid, breakfast was served in our rooms (a $5 fee is added to your bill for tip). It was a nicely included breakfast with many choices from eggs, frittata, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, meats, fruit, yogurt, and cereals. Second morning my frittata was cold tho, and potatoes were sent instead of the bacon I ordered, but it was brought promptly upon request. There is also an extensive menu for snacks, lunch and dinner. Valet parking can be enjoyed for $15 a day, or you can self-park closely. I would love to stay again when we can enjoy the spacious patio and dining room. The staff are all cheerful and helpful. It is a gorgeous location with plenty of restaurants and shops in a quaint mountain town.

Took my wife out for a romantic anniversary and she loves the vintage vibe so I picked this very old and unique hotel. When you pull up the staff is quick to great and the curb appeal is amazing. Inside the hotel looks old and has been well maintained in the common areas. The hallways are decorated with the history of the hotel and unique items of the ages that past. This was all wonderful to experience. In the room I was less thrilled. I travel a lot and some of the things they did really were great to make the room vintage i.e. wall paper, brass, old bed headboard, end tables, wood work, heated toilet seat, two person jetted tub. My challenges were the very uncomfortable pillows, the poor maintenance (lights out and flickering, cracked caulking, film on the water when we tried the tub (gross), and worn out finishes ready to be renovated). Enjoyed the stay but at the price tag I was disappointed at the rooms quality. PS - the coffee was great!

Looking for a beautiful date night? Look no further, the Cliff House is your place. Tucked away in historic Manitou Springs lies The Cliff House. I was immediately taken by the beautiful, Victorian home we were approaching. The porch is stunning and I could envision what it must have been like when it was first built with beautifully dressed guests parading in or sunning themselves on the porch. The Cliff House is first a hotel but tucked inside of the beautiful accommodations is a dining room that you absolutely must not miss. The staff is incredibly charming and attentive. They sat us down even though we arrived a few minutes before our reservation. We started with an Amuse Bouche-provided compliments of the chef. Now, this was a ham and Brie en croute, the perfect bite of ham, Brie and a beautiful crisp texture that literally was fun in my mouth. The beautiful bite was an invitation to heaven as the next thing we shared was a stunning French onion soup. This was brought out with a golden crust of Gouda and Swiss. The onion soup flavor was slowly simmered, teeming with deep rich flavor. The Cliff House serves complimentary, homemade rosemary bread that was a crusty, delicious partner to the French onion soup. It was a beautiful marriage. I ordered the filet mignon which was served with scalloped potatoes, baby carrots and asparagus. The steak had a wonderfully rich sauce. This dish was beyond compare. The steak was tender, and perfectly rare. It had a buttery, rich texture. The baby carrots and asparagus were tender and buttery. My husband ordered the Colorado Chicken. It was a tender, perfectly cooked chicken breast topped with a green chili cream over a goat cheese potato cake. The flavors swirled into one another with a hint of tartness from the goat cheese, creaminess, crisp of potato and just the right spice. The chef did not miss a single note. Our final act on our date night was dessert. My husband had an orange soufflé topped with a buttery vanilla sauce. This soufflé was well made, beautifully risen and full of orange flavor. I could not pass up the chocolate cake. This chocolate cake had everything I could ever want from a perfect chocolate cake. Raspberry and chocolate sauce adorned the plate underneath accompanied with little pieces of cookie. Needless to say, this meal and the experience were absolute perfection in every way. This is a hidden gem that is the perfect place to celebrate love!

Superb. Absolutely superb experience at The Cliff House. Valet parking. A short walk to many Springs and sights in Manitou. Nice porch out front with tables and chairs. The room was modern. And beautiful. Good coffee pot. Excellent shower. Television allowed HDMI ports to connect your devices. The desk had charging ports and extra outlets. The floors were creeky and noisy in places and you could hear similar floorboards creeking from above, but it didn't deter from the experience. The building is over 100 years old. The staff was very friendly and eager to help. From housekeeping to the front desk to the breakfast staff to the valet parking crew; all were pleasant and nice. The service all around was top notch. This has become a go-to place to stay in Manitou, which I visit several times a year. I will return. You should also. You'll be super glad you did.

We stayed here for our honeymoon & Christmas. Our stay was better than expected. Staff were friendly, attentive, & welcoming, especially Matt (valet/doorman) who was there to accommodate all of our needs. The room was clean & well maintained. Will definitely recommend to family & friends. Location is perfect for easy access to downtown, just minutes away from shops & restaurants. The only con is staff go into the room when you are not there even if you put the "do not disturb sign".

Well the place has a very warm feel to it. Definitely a colonial vibe. Parking was a mess. Basically, gave us no option to park our car unless you paid 15$ a day to valet. Said if we park anywhere else car will get ticketed. Also got a reasonable deal on priceline. But after about 100$ in hotel fees and taxes not so good a deal. Everything amenity wise is dated. Other then the door key cards. Those seemed to work better then most. We stayed in a Jr. Suite rather small with a small bed too.

I am leaving this review to express my anger and disgust about the way the way the staff have conducted themselves both during and after our stay here. When we first arrived at the hotel, we were very pleased and excited that our room was upgraded because of it being our wedding night. After that things went downhill. Firstly, we got to our room. There was a message (with 2 mistakes) and two glasses. We found out later that this was a gift and there was food and wine in the fridge to accompany this note after being told by the man that showed us to our room that the water in the fridge was free, but everything else was chargeable. We then went out, upon our return there was a note under the door regarding smoking in the room, and a $250 fine for any room where smoking had occurred followed by a knock on the door a few seconds later. I took this as an accusation and a passive aggressive threat. I told the lady that knocked on the door that no one had been smoking in our room and she told me that I had to phone the front desk to tell them this. So, I did. She also told me that she couldn't smell smoke, but she'd seen smoking paraphernalia in our room. So this tells us that she'd been snooping around our room. This made my wife feel unsafe, violated and uncomfortable, so much so that she didn't want to go down for breakfast in the morning. In the morning we awoke to the bill under our door. I looked at the bill and there was a charge on there for food. We'd not eaten there so I went to the front desk and asked them to fix the bill, they said they would look into it. My wife then told me she just wanted to leave as soon as possible because she had been made to feel uncomfortable and that and the mistake on the bill angered her very much. So, we went to check out. This is where the ineptitude of the hotel staff started to become clear. I was told that the charge on the bill was for a platter of food and wine (that we had not asked for) that had been sitting in the fridge untouched because we had been told that everything in there apart from water was chargeable This was taken off our bill and we left. What happened next was unbelievably inept and probably illegal. We found out from my wifes mother that the food and wine were from her and her husband, and that she'd already paid for it. So we told her that we'd not had it, or even been told about it, so she phoned and was told that they would cancel the charge to her credit card. The charge on my card for the room had disappeared too. I thought that perhaps they'd realised that they had ruined our wedding night and felt they shouldn't charge us, but they hadn't, they'd just decided to up the level of ineptitude a notch or two. They'd charged our room to her credit card! Have you any idea how this made my wife and I feel? Not to mention the stress caused to her mother and the phone calls she had to make to rectify this mistake. Someone had tried to do something really sweet for us on our wedding day, and not only did they mess it up with a display of complete incompetence, they tried to charge us both for it! Two days later I'd still not had a charge come through on my card, and I thought that maybe out of shame they would not charge us. But it appears they have no shame. They've not tried to contact us to apologise for everything they've done. Not even a phone call to explain their mistakes and what would be happening regarding the payment. This hotel is responsible for sullying our wedding day and their conduct has disgusted me. How they brought themselves to charge my card for the service they provided us is beyond me. I sent an email with pretty much this content to them nearly a week ago and have had no response. I also left a post on Facebook (which appears to have been removed) and made contact on twitter to warn them I was going to be placing this review, and no contact. I've been made to feel worthless and irrelevant by this establishment.1 star is too many

So disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. We were with a small group of 10 and our rooms were reserved for us. Two nights and then a week later one night. I had the same room both times. On the first visit I had smudged the dust with my finger thinking it would get cleaned. It did not. At the second visit I spoke with a female manager who did offer to have it recleaned but frankly if they did a bad job twice, why would it suddenly be a good job. Upon checkout the desk person asked about the stay and when I explained the female manager had already offered, they said, "we have no female managers". For the price point it is not worth it.

I'm a little nervous to leave a five-star review, because I don't want hoards of people ruining my little getaway. This is a very old historic hotel with charm, so if you're looking for the Trump Tower - this is not for you. My husband has taken me here for our last two wedding anniversaries and I've greatly enjoyed both visits!! Tucked in Manitou Springs, it's a quaint step back in time to a quieter time and place, instead of our hustling bustling chaotic world. I love the restaurant downstairs for both dinner and breakfast. The steak here is cooked perfectly sous-vide and then seared for texture. They also have very good Grand Marnier White Chocolate Souffles, mmmmmmm. SO GOOD. Also, they have heated toilet seats and it might just be my favorite part of this hotel lol. You don't realize how great it is, until it's below freezing outside and you wake up in the middle of a winter's night. Just saying - it's kind of glorious!

Just when we thought hospitality afforded during a 5,000 mile cross country road trip could not be surpassed, Cliff House Hotel has done so. From the moment we pulled up after a long drive from Moab, gazing at this historic and grand building, we had a feeling we were entering an Old World, totally guest-comes-first-and-foremost environment. This observation was ratified beginning with our welcoming assistance from Zak, right through the entire two night (wish it could have been longer) stay. The overall experience attained the extraordinary accolade. Why? It starts with the staff and there are several who warrant special recognition. They include Patrick and Patrick, Shannon, Carrie, Grace, Chris Leslie (extra A+ here) and the entire kitchen team, among others. The collective focus on anticipating a guest's questions and needs was palpable and will be a solid addition to our journey memory banks. Cliff House = World Class. We can recommend unconditionally.

All seemed well when we checked in. Valet was good. When we got to our room, fireplace didn't work, but, it was not that big a deal. Next morning and trying to shower, we had zero hot water. We chalked it up to old hotel, we will survive. Then we went to buffet breakfast. Food was subpar. Ive had better buffets at holiday inn. Service was rude. Never offered water or to refill our coffee. Never had I felt racism, but? being the only couple in the room, one of us being African American, we felt stared at and treated like we should not be there. Even asking for our check at end of meal, no acknowledgment from hostess. She looked at me and them walked away only to have another staff member bring us the check. Several other patrons around us had multiple coffee refills and water refills. I have never felt to disgusted! When you add up all these issues, it wasn't a great experience. We will not be back nor will we tell anyone to stay here.
