"A thoroughly renovated pair of mid-century motels, the Coachman is now the hip mountain lodge this part of the country has long needed. It’s nothing if not conveniently located, a short walk from the lake, the gondola to the Heavenly ski area, and neighboring Stateline, Nevada, where all sorts of laws are a little more permissive. The interiors are boutique-chic meets camp rustic, and the amenities are minimal but well-chosen, like a lobby bar and café serving Stumptown coffee and local beers." - Mark Fedeli

We came across this hotel when we had a camping disaster in Lake Tahoe. Our tent box had flooded and had to check in out of the rain for the night. I can’t believe how the team at the coachman managed to turn a terrible day around and feel like we landed on a hidden gem. ||The staff are incredible! Every single person at the coachman goes out their way to inform you of information, places to go things to do in Lake Tahoe. Fantastic baristas and at night beautiful wine by the fire pit which brings all the guests together it’s amazing. They hand out complimentary s’mores which is such a lovely touch. ||If you’re thinking about booking the coachman you won’t regret it! The rooms are spacious, perfectly temperature controlled and lovely malin + gotez products. ||I can’t wait to one day come back and stay here for the entire trip. We absolutely loved it! Thank you so much to the team at The Coachman you guys really made our terrible day so much better!

The Coachman Hotel is our favorite place to stay in S. Lake Tahoe. Great value. Convenient walking to the strip. Clean, quiet and updated. Friendly, helpful staff. We stopped in to see a friend and couldn't leave! Warm and inviting. We'll be back soon!

Here for a wedding event in town. Housekeeping was very good throughout. Beds are, on avg, comfortable enough, but not great. Good complimentary coffee station in the Reception Area and nice bar. Wonderful fire pit/sitting area. Only issue was the mini-split unit didn’t really keep it cool in the room.

My stay at the Coachman Hotel exceeded all expectations! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff who made sure our check-in was smooth and hassle-free. The location couldn't have been better - right in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was incredibly cozy and well-appointed, providing a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The highlight for us was definitely the heated toilet seat - such a luxurious touch! Although we encountered a few minor issues during our stay, they were promptly taken care of by the attentive and friendly hotel staff, ensuring that our experience was seamless and enjoyable. One of the best perks of our stay was the complimentary beach pass, allowing us easy access to the stunning Lake Tahoe shoreline just moments away from the hotel. We enjoyed lazy afternoons lounging by the lake, thanks to this thoughtful inclusion. Overall, I can't recommend the Coachman Hotel enough for anyone visiting South Lake Tahoe. It's the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and hospitality.

I really liked the Coachman and I'd stay there again. The common spaces are very nice. There's a bar, good food, a kitchen, and a small indoor fireplace. The outside area has a larger firepit, pool and hot tub. The outdoor fire pit could use cushions on the wooden bleachersas the chairs fill up fast. The rooms are basic, nice and clean. There are no closets, only hooks to hang clothes. Our room was close to the street, but it was very quiet. || The staff was good, but seemed to multi task a lot between food and checkin/out. I do wish the music was lower in the reception area. The reception person was very hard to understand over the music. ||Our room wasn't due to be ready until 4 pm, which should be 3 pm as other hotels, yet they were checking in people who came after us and handing out room keys at 3 pm. The staff made some excuse that I had booked an ADA room, but I hadn't. I booked a standard king.. The staff also said " Oh these people called before they arrived." I prepaid my room and would have loved to have had that information so that I could have been checking in instead of waiting around exhaused after a long trip. ||I prepaid my room with all fees included, then got charged a "resort fee," which was not listed on Booking.com. It's now illegal in California to not disclose fees. The person I spoke with at the desk said that I booked through Expedia (who owns Booking.com) and therefore there was a charge, then made me prove it with my booking invoice to try to get a refund. I wish all hotels would drop the "resort fee" business and just advertise the actual price. I would have more respect for the brand. It's not like it's optional.

We loved our stay at The Coachman. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Really great layout which felt spacious and calm yet nice places to chill out and congregate. |The swimming pool was nice and warm (confirmed by our 8 yo) and a great place to chill out after a day exploring the lake.|We loved the free passes to the private beach by the lake and the free s’mores in the evening. |Overall we loved the town too

Google
The Coachman Hotel offers a charming and eclectic experience just a short walk from a semi-private beach. For those who prefer to ride, numerous Lime Scooters are available. Its central location meant we rarely needed our vehicle, as everything we wanted was within walking distance. While the rooms are fairly standard, the hotel boasts a welcoming community kitchen and a well-stocked coffee and drink bar. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, addressing any requests with ease. The reasonable prices make it a great value, and I would definitely recommend staying here or visiting again!

I’ve stayed here everytime I’ve visited! A great place for friends to come together! Open seating outside pool and spa! Dogs welcome, walking distance to downtown south lake! I love it! Room are very clean, staff is so friendly! Hot water, heated toilets! Central to everything!

Yelp
I stayed at the Coachman hotel and absolutely loved my stay. Florencia the sweetheart working the front desk/ bar area went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Each night they offer free smores kits to everyone which was super cute for the fam. They give you beach passes daily , access to bikes, and pool hot tub area. 10/10 recommend for families.

Yelp
Yes, it looks like a motel on the outside, but other than the separate buildings on both sides of the streets and the room access being on the outside, this is a far cry from a cheap motel! The Coachman Hotel is a great place for a staff retreat. We had over 20 of our team accommodated for, including a private meeting room, private fire pit, and private outdoor seating. WiFi and tech support were all great, and there was even a small kitchen where we could store our purchased snacks and drinks. The hotel staff also worked with Bella Tahoe catering to have our meals delivered, including having our grab and go breakfast at the reception desk on our last day there. There appear to be a range of rooms, but I had a king size bed with a decent sized seating area. Bathroom had a heated toilet seat and timed fan and light. Curtains were able to make the entire room dark for sleeping if needed. My only problem with the room was the AC/heating unit was too high for me to see the control panel, and with no chairs available other then some lounge chairs, I ended up using my phone camera to see what buttons I was pushing. The insulation in the room was fine, so I didn't need to change the heat settings often and mostly kept the unit off given that it was a bit loud. I loved that the hotel staff had a text system for assistance. Though, it is hard that the front desk is not 24/7. I accidentally left my key card in my room at was lucky someone was there at 10:15pm to help me out, as they close from 10pm-7am. I also wish the gym had better hours- opening at 8am didn't give me enough time to work out, shower, and be ready for our meetings at 9am. Aside from some weird hours and oddly placed AC unit, our stay was great!

Yelp
I was super excited to stay at the Coachman Hotel... the pictures online made everything look really nice and high end. The moment we walked in our room and checked everything out we noticed the cheap plywood that everything is built out of, the bathroom door would not close because the trim around the door was made of plywood and has warped over time. The flooring is concrete and also a patch of a rubber mat. There was also no phone to call the service desk for anything needed. The first night we stayed, we were looking forward to the s'mores (HIGHLY advertised in their social media and around the lobby) but turns out they ran out of Graham crackers. The saving grace for this place was that the employees were nice. Will not come back here or recommended to anyone

Yelp
The Coachman Hotel in Lake Tahoe is like an inviting, cozy retreat. From the warm welcome by Mr. Sosa at the front desk--who goes above and beyond with his genuine, friendly service--to the clean and welcoming rooms, it's easy to see how this place makes a great first impression. The hotel seems to offer a charming, personalized experience, ideal for anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Lake Tahoe.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stayed here recently. We didn't give it a 5/5 only because there were a few factors we wanted to pointed out. - Check-in was smooth and staff was extremely friendly we give them 5/5 rating. - The food was absolutely fresh and it was really good. We kept getting chicken rolled quesadillas which literally became my favorite ate that everyday that we stayed there. Both my fiancé and I love the tomatoes soup and their breakfast avocado bagel toast it was a nice touch and tasty adding on the red pickled onions in them so good! In the near future when we come back if we stay elsewhere we will end up coming back for the food. - Our room was okay, we give this a 3/5 because it was just way too small for us. There was some things we wish there was: 1. Wish there was a closet space, ours didn't have one. 2. The bathroom was really hard to move around especially the door was so close to the toilet. 3. There was no towel hanger, there was the shelving but that didn't help much. 4. The TV was tricky to used, every time try to go to guide and we see that there's Apple TV but it kept saying on all the platform that we needed to login which we didn't like because no way on earth are we signing in on our accounts. The hotel wasn't bad at all the esthetic was cute and fun. I do agree with some folks that left comments on how the website and advertisements look so good! And really make people think it's beyond amazing. And it didn't truly match the standard everyone hope for. We love that there was a kitchen area that has free coffees, teas, and water filters. There was utensils and plates, bowls for guests to use that is nice to have. Would we stay here again?! Not sure, to be honest the staff and our room was pretty cleaned so can't complain there. If we did we would get a bigger room. One down side we didn't like is that there's no telephone in our room and that after hours which is 10pm the lobby is closed. We wish we had access to that and there's a 24 hr. service just in case if theres an emergency. Our smoke detector battery started to chirp due to low battery went off literally at 4am until we woke up. We barely got to sleep longer because of that and it was loud! Luckily, we were able to let the front desk people know right and fixed that immediately. We like that there's entertainment and yoga on certain days. That's a nice touch to have. Highly suggestion to add-on is maybe since you all have yoga also do meditation as well.

Yelp
I was seeing mixed reviews but mostly good ones so decided to go ahead and book. Let's start Lobby area is a little different than most hotels As it's the coffee area but also they check you in there at same time , so that was different but not a bad thing .They have bikes to rent and there is fire pits right outside the lobby area along with pool and jacuzzi. They offer smores every night You pick them up at front desk and you can sit in the fire pit section and enjoy . Next . The hotel itself is a little confusing as they have them on both sides of the streets but they did give me map and it helped me find my room quite easily . I booked the Whirlpool suite for a hefty $300 A night . The room was gorgeous, spacious and very updated and clean it def felt luxurious ,matching the price . My only con about this was I was downstairs and the walls are thin and we heard the people upstairs indulging in their private moments all night so hearing them made it difficult to sleep and def took away from our relaxing experience . You would think horses were upstairs with all the stomping around ,They def need to do something about that as this is not something people want to hear all night especially for $300 a night . ... The bed was comfortable and once I actually was able to catch some zzzs I was out for the count. The heater works perfectly and the room felt cozy, the night was freezing so when we got back to our hotel entering a nice warm room felt great ! Lastly the location was perfect 5 minute drive to the shopping center and there is an abundance of restaurants ,bars ,and casinos ! Anytime I'm back in South Lake Tahoe I will be booking this hotel .

Yelp
This has been our go - to hotel in South Lake Tahoe for the last 8 years. We started with one dog baby now two. You can't find a more dog friendly places than this one. We love hang out in their warm and cozy lounge area. Super relaxing and our dogs have enough space to comfortably settle and just hang out. Or we can walk right out of the door and sit by the huge and beautiful firefit outside which is definitely a big bonus for winter. Their self serving kitchen really makes us feel home here. Always a good selection of teas there. All the people are so warm and friendly here. Can't beat the service here. We'll for sure hang out here again in that lounge soon.

Yelp
We had such a fun time at the coachman hotel! The rooms are basic but nice! Very cute design. The coachman is super kid friendly. They have a fire pit with smores every night. Coffee next to the pit in the morning is nice too. They have an outdoor movie night once a week. They have a little bar with food and drinks. Location is walking distance from the main strip with many retail outlets and restaurants. We will be coming back!

Yelp
My boyfriend booked this hotel for my bday weekend, and he did a great job! The room was clean, bed was comfy, the shower was nice and big and it even had a heated toilet seat. We also had a heart shaped jacuzzi tub (he booked the honeymoon suite) which was so nice to relax in. But we also thoroughly enjoyed what was outside the room as well. The fire pits were always on and I sat outside drinking my coffee in the morning and some beer at night. We appreciated the complimentary s'mores kits at night. All the staff were nice and we really enjoyed our stay.

Heaven T.

Yelp
The photos on their site and social media would suggest that it's an almost luxury feeling boutique cutesy hotel. Upon arrival and checking into my room, that was not exactly the case. It still got the job done, but it's not luxurious. If that's something you're looking for, I'd go elsewhere. Amenities I used included the hot tub, bonfire and lobby-area seating. All were good. I wish they served food onsite throughout the day. They have breakfast options and free coffee & tea. They also have free smores materials in the lobby. At any rate, I appreciate its location and proximity to both the lake's beach entrance and to the shops on Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Yelp
Stayed here for a couple days in June/July We had a dog, which they charge $50 per night pet fee (which is quite high and racks up if you're there for many days) and if you have a dog, you must be on the first floor (even if it's a service animal). The downside of being on the first floor is that because the walls are so thin, I didn't get good sleep because I could hear the people above us all night running and thumping. The parking can also be hard if you come back too late. The smores from 7-9pm was really fun, but the Graham crackers were stale so I just toasted the marshmallows and ate the chocolate. Lol. Also, there's no complimentary breakfast except coffee. The room itself is very clean and the linen was soft and the welcome drinks was a very nice touch. You also get tickets to go to the private beach (8 minute walk) and that was fun to enjoy. It's a good value and if you're a heavy sleeper, definitely book this place. If you're a light sleeper and your budget allows, maybe try a more modern hotel like holiday inn or Hampton for a better sleep.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Loved our short stay here and wish we stayed a night longer! We decided to stay here since Harvey's did not have any pet stay rooms available. So glad we came across this cute hotel! Check in was easy and they let us do an early check in without any hassle at all which was awesome since we had been on the road for a while and was only in Tahoe for a day. Lobby/customer area was very inviting and cozy. It worked out perfectly as we wanted to originally book a cabin before a hotel but everything was out of our price point... the lobby had games and a lot of seating for us to hang out and lounge - still had that cozy cabin feel which was awesome. Room was just fine. Comfy beds with plenty of pillows. The heated toilet seat was a nice surprise I never knew I needed in my life lol. My only negatives if i had any would be the walls are super thin and the water pressure for the showers were a little crappy. Hotel is located within walking distance to both the casinos and the shopping area/restaurants. Staff were very friendly and we thought the free s'mores every night was a nice little touch. I'd recommend staying here when in Tahoe! We plan to come back here.

Yolee I.

Yelp
I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The quality is abysmal--it's dirty, unacceptable, and the balcony overlooks a parking lot. I came to Tahoe to celebrate an anniversary and originally booked a honeymoon suite, which was canceled days before my arrival. I rebooked a more expensive King Premium room, only to find a toilet full of feces and an unmade bed. After being moved to another room, I encountered an uncomfortable bed, bunk beds, and constant barking from a dog in the next room. The entire experience was a disaster and felt like a bad college dorm--nothing romantic or appealing about it. The beds are uncomfortable, the showers are cramped, the furniture is cheap, and the place smells. Definitely not the vibe

Matt M.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend for a relaxing couples getaway or young families. More for 20-30 something's who like to party. Definitely a glorified motel vibe. Pros: great location within walking distance to good restaurants, beach and casinos, comfy beds and pillows, clean, good size rooms, pool, bikes, and car charging. Cons: pot smoke drifting through our window every night so had to keep the window closed with noisy AC on, thin walls and ceilings so we could hear people partying next door until 2:30 in the morning and a couple arguing above us the same morning, TV/WIFI buffeted a lot. Mini fridge wasn't working. All in all my fiancée and I had an ok stay since the pros outweighed the cons for us but for $250/night was expecting better.

Erica J.

Yelp
Listen, let's call a spade a spade: this is a dressed up motel. It's not a hotel, and it's certainly not a hip boutique hotel as their very clever marketing might make you think (their photographer deserves a raise). You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a... you get the idea. Do not expect hotel amenities here. There is no one to help with bags, no security, and no elevator. Also, hope you're okay without central AC. Sure, the wall units do work, but it's either too hot or too cold, so we settled on just being too cold. And, I've never seen anything quite like their bathroom setup. The door almost hits the toilet when it opens and closes and the sink is outside the bathroom, in an odd sink/closet bar situation that's been constructed with a couple slabs of plywood. But wait, there's more... This motel is dog friendly with clearly no restrictions on animals. I saw one family with three dogs in their room. There were dogs of all types and sizes all over the property. I like dogs (and I have two of them), but I don't like to see or smell their poop when I'm on vacation or hear them barking, which is why I hire a dog sitter. Unfortunately, the people below us brought their dog and left it in the room, where it cried for so long, my daughter started crying and then we walked around the property until we found where the dog was being held. After, we went straight to the office to let the staff know. She did contact the guest and they eventually returned to be with the dog - but honestly, if you can't survive a trip to Tahoe without your dog - WHY ARE YOU LEAVING IT TO CRY IN A HOTEL ROOM?!?! Extremely sad for the dog and distressing for both myself and my daughter. Also, be aware that there are paver squares on most of the walkways with just dirt in between, which after the sprinklers run (or god forbid it rains), becomes mud. It would look lovely with some turf or even moss growing between them, but again - see my earlier point #motel. The design is not convenient for rolling suitcases or elderly guests - and we were traveling with both. So, if you book here, understand that you are paying for a motel that allows people to bring their dogs and then abandon them in rooms where they can cry for hours. Also, you're blocks away from big casinos and we could hear the music from a casino booming through the walls until well after 10pm. And, please don't buy the hype that this is walking distance to anything. It's on a poorly paved side road packed with motels, lodges, and run down apartments with almost no sidewalk, so unless that's the scenery you like to enjoy on your walk, you'll likely drive anyway. Now, I don't want to be entirely negative. First, the maintenance guy is fast and very helpful. We needed help with our AC, our TV, and also with a broken window lock (all within a 48 hour period). Second, the coffee bar makes a nice vanilla latte. Third, my daughter enjoyed the free s'mores. Bottom line, though, this place is just one step above glamping. If that's your vibe, more power to you, but you should at least go in with all the information and I don't think they represent this fairly. I'm really thinking a lot of the reviews have been incentivized or paid for. Hope this review helps you make the right decision for you and your group.

Yelp
It is unfortunate to say that the Coachmen just didn't deliver. Besides having great photos online and seemingly appearing to be a cute boutiquey type By the Lake Tahoe hotel...it just falls short. The only good thing is that took on dogs and were pro dogs. We had to stay across the street and were first put into a room that was next to band saws, and hammering 2x4s since they were redoing remodeling some of the hotel. That was a non starter. No way. We asked to be moved bc we didn't want the noise. I get it - you need to do remodeling but don't immediately put your guests in those rooms unless you fill up. Through out our stay there was still a lot of guest noise from slamming doors and God knows what but other people near our room were a bit disrespectful and disruptive, needless to say. The beds are very still and so are the pillows so back-sufferers beware. They do have free Stumptown coffee in the lobby and you do get a free drink ticket when you arrive. But the rooms are tiny and it all feels like a college apartment complex rather than a hotel. Just be aware that the hotel is split into two main buildings - one that is across the street and the other near all the main facilities. Parking is free but if you are placed in the other building you have to walk over to get coffee, use the pool/hot tub, get a drink, and get access to the bikes they have available for free as well. Just choose what's right for you. It is located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe near shops and restaurants so it's got its positives and negatives.

Yelp
What happened? Stayed here in 2020 and fell in love. Tried to come back in 2021 but the fires caused us to reschedule twice. We've been trying to come back ever since and finally made the trip for Labor Day 2023. First off- they throw us across the street in the "new" building. Check out the video- walls like paper doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm taking this video at the furthest point from this neighboring room. Our room might as well be in the parking lot even though we're paying a premium to have our dogs, they don't allow dogs in second floor rooms. To make matters worse- We don't even have a full bathroom. The sink is in the bedroom. No vanity, Nowhere to unpack. Love that you expanded but these are VALUE rooms. Trying to charge the same price for these POS rooms is a load of BS. I'm so disappointed- we've spoken so highly of this place and it couldn't be more of a let down. What an AWFUL start to the holiday weekend. Seriously what happened.

Monica O.

Yelp
A classic example of lipstick on a pig sort of hotel. They do a fine job in making the front of house look good - string lights, bar, board games, etc. However, the rooms are awful. Not only was there mold everywhere (toilet, shower, etc.), but the bathroom door was falling apart. The concrete floors were another unfortunate feature. Nothing like ice cold floors after getting out of the snow. I am giving 2 stars vs 1 because the woman who checked us in last night was very nice, professional and accommodating. She deserves 5 stars. Overall, not a great stay.

Tao Y.

Yelp
No bath towel was provided when we arrived the first day. Called the front desk, they said they would deliver soon but did not come the first night. Called again second day morning still did not come. Finally called the third time second day afternoon and it was delivered. Has a hidden charge of $66 resort fee which is not mentioned on Bookings.com. I mentioned it to the front desk politely and she was super rude to me. Room environment was like a motel, not a 3-star hotel. Room is small, dark, no chair or sofa to sit. Totally not worth the price of $300 per night. $150 without resort fee would be more reasonable. The big hotels next street actually charges less.

Deborah P.

Yelp
Our visit to this place was not relaxing or pleasant. We booked a premium king room for an up charge which (we were told at booking) provides a balcony with chairs unlike a regular king that does not have a balcony. Our check in time took a very long time because the 2nd employee checking in another guest needed constant assistance from the young girl checking us in. We finally got checked in and drove to our room, which was on the second floor with no elevators. I am handicapped and after struggling up to the room I called down to see if we could get a bottom floor room instead. We were told that the only thing on the bottom was 2 queens OR we could have a King Suite for another up charge but that was on the 3rd floor. It would have been nice to have been told that the property does not have elevators. We have always had properties in our past travels let us know if they did not ha e elevators. (Yes, I will definitely ask in the future). We decided to just stay in the room given to us and I just took my time traversing the stairs. Our room was not clean: the rug had dog hair on it, the bathroom sink had hair in it, and the comforter (which we folded and removed) had sand on it, and there was a leftover can of corn beef hash from the previous guest in the dressing area. After removing the comforter, my husband grabbed a tissue to remove a dead spider from the sheets! The balcony for this premium king room was also dirty and had dog kibble on it. There was only 1 chair and that was very broken (half of it was falling off) and covered in dirt and dog hair. The maids getting this premium room ready for us did not see this broken down chair? Or they did and thought it was fine? The rug was old and curled up making it a trip hazard and the floor lamp did not work, there were two bedside lights though. I will say that having 2 luggage racks instead of one was a nice touch. The toilet and shower were clean and another nice touch was the heated toilet seat, although it did not cover the rim of the toilet bowl so always had to be careful not to touch that. They included some nice products in the shower too. I attempted 4 times (in person 3 times and on the phone once) to get 2 more hand towels and absolutely could not get these. Now I did give the wrong room number when I called down On my 4th attempt, confusing the room number with our room from our visit to Old Sac and when I apologized and gave the girl the right room number, still no hand towels. We tried to use the pool area with 6 adults and 3 kids but found there were not enough chairs so we decided to use the beach passes for the private beach this hotel offers. The private beach is about a 10 minute walk and really is a public beach (according to the gatekeepers) that were collecting money or beach passes). This beach is for anybody to enter after paying a fee...not private for just this property. As a guest we did not have to pay, but it was very crowded. After 2 attempts to relax in the water which did not pan out, we went back to relax in our room and that was a disaster. The maids clean in a group of 3 and when they do they talk and yell and laugh loudly and bang furniture and carry on for quite a while, upwards of 45 minutes. This happened above us, beside us, in the landing area outside our door, and under us each day, we were there 3 days. We asked what was going on and we were snapped at and glared at by these maids. When we tried to use the stairs, they backed up into us forcing us to get out of their way. The furniture being shoved around and dropped often above us and the talking and laughing made it extremely difficult to rest, read, relax, or even watch tv. This property offers a s'mores time out at the fire-pit each night which is a nice touch, we even met a made some friends while participating in this the first of our 3 nights staying here. I stood up to find my clothing covered in dog hair and when I went to eat mine I found dog hair in it as well, so gross. We did not go back to this after the first night. We woke up very early on our check out day to leave, we were done. We walked down the stairs past gross food waste outside our room and on the stairs. This was not the hotels fault though, just the acts of rude guests. When we walked into the front desk the 2 young girls were talking together and after a short bit one of them turned to stare at me. Nothing was said, no smile, just staring. She looked down at our room keys and then turned to the computer to check us out. I had thought we would have been greeted with a smile, maybe saying Good Morning to us, and maybe a 'How was your stay?' but nope, nothing. We paid for a premium room and did NOT get what we paid for and nobody cared. This is a place we will never visit again.

Yelp
It was me and my partner's first big trip here to Tahoe, and immediately I knew this was the place I wanted to stay at. When we got here the front desk building/lounge area was so cozy and warm with the most welcoming energy from the receptionists, and people staying there playing board games. We were able to utilize the kitchen thanks to how much the hotel provided! Lakeside beach is about a 10-15 minute walk from here which is amazing! And just a couple minutes drive from the populated downtown/plaza area with tons of restaurants and activities. The Coachman Hotel made me and my partner's trip PERFECT. Thank you so much Coachman Hotel staff!

Yelp
Really enjoyed staying here! This place is cute and has so many great amenities. There is an outdoor pool, cozy fire pit areas for the evenings (with free s'mores kits), bicycles for rent, coffee shop vibe at the reception area during the morning / early afternoon, and a morning and afternoon menu with items for purchase. It's located in a quiet area within a short walking distance of the main road with many shops & restaurants, and in the opposite direction is the beach. They provide free passes to one of the beaches - definitely worth going and getting some beach time in (though you can drive to quieter beaches as well). The rooms are not huge and kind of basic but we had what we needed. I would've liked to have a desk inside as I was working remotely while here but made do with a nightstand and their cozy chair. The WiFi here also worked quite well. I appreciated this property having a kitchen area for guest use. I brought some food with me that I was able to prepare during the week, e.g. heat up baked oatmeal and make my own tea. Would definitely stay here again in the future!

Yelp
I have stayed here quite a few times and all I can say is that.........It's the best place to stay in Tahoe!! Every time we stay, my family is treated with such kindness from the staff. I also got the opportunity to meet the GM Ben. He really cares about the customer and their experience, as well as helping his staff to help make sure things are taken care of. Quiet, relaxing, and also convenient to walk to the beach, casino, or village for food and shopping. Thank you for another great visit. Can't wait to do it again soon!!

Yelp
I was really excited to stay here after reviewing the pictures of this place. The lounge area is cute with games. The nightly s'mores were nice. The young girl who works nights with glasses is the sweetest! The cleaning crew was not respectful of our privacy! On the last day they barged into our room at 8:30am! Check out is at 11am and they did not knock either! Also we found old contact lenses and sand in our bed! Therefore our sheets were NEVER changed from the previous guest! The people staying upstairs inconsideratly walked around with their ski shoes at 7am every morning Friday Saturday and Sunday! It was so loud and hard to get any sleep after that. The floors are cold and dirty since they are cement flooring in the room (no carpet). The air pumps in the jazzuci suck! Overall, over priced for the stay. There's NO complimentary breakfast, only tea, coffee, and toilet tasting water. Will never stay here again.

Yelp
Just such a neat and cozy spot. we are so fond of the Coachman. The cozy cafe is such a lovely touch. With daily happy hours and a unique selection of beer and wine, it's a great way to wind down any night. By the time we were leaving, I was craving reading a book by the cozy fireplace as much as I wanted to enjoy Lake Tahoe itself. the staff is incredibly warm and pleasant. Highly recommend stopping by here if you want to get some work done or stay back from the slopes and drink and coffee with a book. Pro tip: The fireplace has board games that you can play while you relax at the cafe! Did someone say wine and Go!..? Lastly, the merch and assorted goodies available for purchase by the register are really neat. Especially the candles. One of my favorite candles I've ever purchased - I'm still too scared to burn it because of how much I love the smell and don't want to lose it :')

Yelp
Amazing place! Very friendly, helpful staff. Convenient location, very walkable to the strip and the beach. Spacious room. Giant spa tub. Clean and quiet! Comfortable bed. Every room has a heated toilet seat! Benjamin the GM is the best!

Elsa M.

Yelp
Great location, and accommodated me on a same day reservation. The room is very " Abercrombie & Fitch" vibes, the free coffee was the star, and the comfy vibes were it. This is a nice hotel I truly recommend it.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Beautiful boutique hotel. Amazing staff. Close to casinos, shopping, hiking and night time vibes!

Yelp
If Caltrans issues a blizzard warning in the Tahoe area with whiteout conditions, beware of this place, they won't waive any cancellation fees.

Yelp
I'd say I'm more indifferent to this place than anything. It was clean, kinda nice... .... wasn't excited about the room setup with the bathroom sink by the bed outside the actual bathroom. Heated toilet seat was nice. The cable sucks, lotsa buffering and very poor selection. There was no coffee maker, which was odd. And the garbage truck came at 6am which happened to be right outside our room despite having asked for a quiet room. The grounds were neat and the place was well taken care of. Not too far of a walk from the shops and casinos, even better if you scored a scooter to zip around on. I won't rule this place out, but would explore other options before booking here again.

Yelp
After viewing this place multiple times online, i started searching for places to stay on social media- and this place was recommended over and over. So, we booked the honeymoon suit and absolutely have NO regrets. The room was nice. I enjoyed the simplicity of it. My favorite was of course... the vintage spa tub. We enjoyed lounging outside by the fire at night, enjoying the complementary s'mores. Plus they have a kitchen where you can make hot chocolate or tea of your choice. The bar/ espresso area is cute. It's also a plus for me that they allow dogs! It's in a great location. Close enough to everything, yet tucked away enough to provide some peace and quiet. The staff were amazing. I'm sad i didn't catch his name, but the gentleman that struck up conversation with my horror movie obsessed bf- rocks! I absolutely recommend this establishment and will return in the future!

Yelp
Got to hotel to find a building suite below the room. Asked for a refund and the woman said su e, just get Expedia to call and she'll authorize. Just got a declined refund notice so she lied. Not impressed. This hotel looks NOTHING like the pictures it is a motel that has just been painted black. Dirty and staff are rude. Beware!

Yelp
What a hidden gem right in the heart of South Lake Tahoe! We were gifted a stay as a Christmas gift and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The property is just a couple of blocks from Lake Tahoe Blvd and walking distance from Heavenly Village, the casinos and Edgewood. When you walk into the reception area, there is a lovely bar with various seating areas. This is the heart of the hotel with coffee and some breakfast items available in the morning. They have a lovely pool and hot tub that is open year round. There are also beautiful fire pits and they even provide complimentary s'mores kits at night. The rooms are large and decorated with a rustic mountain theme. Our room had a private balcony and we enjoyed sitting out there and having a glass of wine. Spotlessly clean and the shower had a very nice waterfall shower head. The real secret sauce with the Coachman is their employees. Each and every person that we interacted with was very friendly and welcoming. They even give you a complimentary drink or coffee when you check in! It was wonderful to stay somewhere that really provides a personal experience. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stayed here for our first summer trip to Tahoe after reading the raving review about this place. Indeed, as others have said, this place is cool and chill. The decoration also has a modern feeling to it. The experience is packed with technology (msg after check-in about amenities, TV with Airplay, etc), which is convenient. However, if you're looking for a place to rest well and recover from outdoor activities, this might not be the best place. Mostly, two reasons: 1. The air circulation in the room is very poor. Our room became intolerable dry at night. I kept getting waked up by my dry throat and had to keep drinking water throughout the nights when we stayed here to get by. 2. The wall is quite thin. Especially when people walk on the aisle, you pretty much hear everything.

Yelp
I read the negative reviews before booking and chalked it up to high maintenance or maybe a little boujie guests who were complainers... Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the other reviews. At first glance in the common areas it seems like a cute boutique hotel, fire pit for s'mores, very cabin in the woods with a bohemian flare, cute. On the other hand the room felt like we were staying in a shipping container. The beds and linens are uncomfortable. The towels are very cheap. No phones in the room to connect to front desk. The room was so underwhelming and smelt like mildew unless you run the A/C the entire time to ventilate. The wood walls/accents from the pictures in the room is actually busted plywood. *All of our interactions with the staff were friendly and positive experiences which is why I would give an extra star. Trust your gut, I wish I did

Yelp
This place was exactly what I was looking for. A quick get away in a cozy, location near the lake and walking distance to nice restaurants. I wanted to feel like I was camping without sleeping in a tent and this place exceeded my expectations. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the rooms are Comfortable and clean, the breakfast was sooo delicious! I had the waffle with banana and berries and it was yummy!!! In the evening they give us a cute lil s'more kit and my niece and I had so much fun roasting marshmallows.

Yelp
10/10 recommend! I could go on forever about the beautiful wintertime ambiance and amenities (Especially the artisanal espresso café and communal areas!) Most of all the staff and management were very warm and welcoming, and had amazing local recommendations that really made our trip special. Will be visiting again!

Yelp
We stayed here and had a great time. The hotel was cute and clean and only a short walk from Heavenly Village. The staff here was excellent, everyone was very friendly. We will definitely consider staying here again!

Yelp
Aesthetically pleasing, great amenities, and affordable. I wanted to stay at the Coachman Hotel because it's the sister property of my favorite boutique hotel in Atlanta, Hotel Clermont. The staff at Coachman are warm and welcoming. Neil, was bartending the first night I stayed and he provided great conversation and restaurant recommendations. Be sure to take advantage of the complimentary s'more's every evening and fresh coffee each morning. The breakfast offered is delicious! and better than any tourist diner spot nearby. Darcy gave me a solid list of weekend hike and local lunch suggestions. Their system for requesting room cleaning and restocking is very user friendly and helpful. I hope to return and take advantage of the darling cruiser bikes! You can't go wrong choosing Coachman Hotel

Yelp
Cute lil hip motel really close to the beach and downtown street! We came during COVID times so there was no complimentary breakfast (except coffee), no indoor public spaces open, no maid service. Pros: - Nice toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash)! Usually hotel freebies make my hair disgusting and brittle. - Cute decor of the main areas! - Check in and check out was smooth and easy, you can text them! - Firepits!!! SMORES. Also the pool was nice! - Great location, easy access to everywhere, and they give you a beach pass so you don't need to pay to get in! Cons: - The photos on their website definitely make the rooms seem bigger and nicer than in real life. The beds still reminded me of motel beds, so it's a biiiit pricey. - Very dim room, no amenities besides fridge/TV/AC. - Shower doesn't have a door :( Overall I applaud their branding skills, this seems to be spearheaded by some young and hip folks. I'd stay here again!

Yelp
We were on a mini honeymoon trip on our way down from Portland & we needed a nice place to stay w/ our little guy -- this place was just that! Complimentary coffee & tea from 7am-9am, along with a few breakfast items for purchase! The staff was extremely accommodating and kind & made us feel at home. The community area/bar had a lot to offer with lounges, a kitchenette & games! Also s'mores every night we're complimentary as well! Everyone there seemed to be on the same page, with relaxation yet hip/urban vibes in mind! The rooms were exactly what we needed. Clean, enough space & great location to everything in South Lake Tahoe! We will definitely be back very soon! Loved it.

Yelp
This place is heaven on earth, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at (and most aesthetically pleasing), and probably my regular South Lake Tahoe getaway hotel for years to come. So many amenities make it hard to want to leave the resort, plus the staff caters to every need and truly provides excellent service. A minimalist hotel, in a great location, with an awesome bar serving drinks, breakfast, coffee, and s'mores at night. There are lots of seating areas to play board games, read a book, and really relax into those winter vacation vibes. Plus, the nightly rate price is quite a deal for all that you get. If you're planning a trip and need somewhere to stay, look no further than this gem!

Yelp
HIGHLY recommend this place. The manager Ben was very professional & accommodated all needs necessary. Beautiful hotel, awesome location!

Danny C.

Yelp
The rooms are a little on the smaller side, but they are clean and modern. The amenities offered outside of that are pretty good for the price - coffee bar, draft beer, wine, happy hour, free s'mores. There's a small fitness room and a fire pit outside. Parking is also free! That's a gift out here. Would recommend. Dog friendly too.

Yelp
Outdated motel. Not very updated. The only thing nice is the lobby. That's it. Don't stay heee

Yelp
This was a 10/10 experience for my overnight stay in SLT. I was going back and forth of all the cool boutique hotels in the area and very happy I chose Coachman. The staff were very welcoming and the Lobby/Bar area was just as cozy as the newly remodeled rooms. I can't wait to come back during ski season!

Yelp
Just based on the background of my particular situation, there is no way my stay wasn't going to be disappointing. To give honest, abject feedback- the hotel itself is cute. Flipped hipster motels are jam so this is exactly up my alley. Cute art, great bar, outdoor space is nice, has a pool and hot tob. Location is great and the staff was super cool and friendly. Drawbacks- still under construction in the expansion, where we were. Our room was soooo dark (to the point that it is annoying even in broad daylight) and the bedding was just so so. But the worst was our customer service experience with management. My husband booked this hotel after we lost camping spots due to our son breaking his wrist. Prior to booking, my husband called and spoke to someone to make sure it would suit our needs and we'd have parking (we own a large transit van). A we went ahead and booked online. A day later, a grumpy manager called to say he couldn't accommodate us because their system accidentally allowed us to double book. We asked what could be done, saying we were in a bind, we were semi flexible, etc. Cameron (grumpy manager, not other Cameron who was cool) begrudgingly conceded that he wouldn't bump us since we had called ahead. He then went on to say he could put us in a suite for the same price. We were so excited! The room looked great online and it actually caused us to alter our plans. Skip ahead to arrival day and we were booked in a dingy double queen. We asked the (awesome) front desk guys to look into it, but turned out that grumpy manager put no notes into the system, wasn't working at the time, and the room he committed to us was already booked up. The guys working did their best to accommodate us but alas, no dice. So while we weren't out anything, it was just a really huge let down and let a bad taste in our mouth. It definitely tinted our perception of the place. Would I go back? Maybe? Probably, but I won't be as excited about it as I initially was.

Yelp
This is exactly the type of hotel my wife and I love staying in. None of the local Airbnbs were appealing to us, so we were hoping to find a smaller hotel with friendly staff and charm. The Coachman Hotel was exactly that - extremely nice/helpful staff, cozy environment, good location with easy access to town. We only spent 2 nights at Coachman but we tried to take in as much of the hotel as we could. We got in the pool & hot tub, used their bikes to ride around town, ate the free DIY s'mores offered at night, sat at the bar drinking coffee/tea & draft beer, and chatted with other guests around the fire. The rooms were pretty simple but we weren't looking for a lot of bells and whistles. They had a nice TV (with Apple TV), a small fridge, closet space for hanging clothes, and a nice modern shower. Everyone we interacted with here was very friendly and we hope to come back again.

Yelp
Booked this place mainly because of the pool + hot tub and got really disappointed that they were both closed down and the hotel wasn't even able to let us know in advance nor manage the situation properly. My spouse was given a completely different reason about why the water facilities were closed. So...who was lying? We cancelled the reservation on the spot and still got charged the cleaning fee... There is a new hotel nearby with much better design, facilities and service - it's called Desolation Hotel
