The Coffee Room - Mile End

Just had the most delicious sandwich at Coffee Room. It reminded me of my favourite sandwich when I lived in Italy - focaccia primavera - which I used to get from a little place inside Brignole train station in Genoa, believe it or not. Parma ham, mozzarella, lettuce and tomatoes - tasty, fresh, salty, sweet, crispy and satisfying. It’s like they read my mind! Even the focaccia, which can go stale quite quickly, was fresh. Complimenti!!!!

Coffee and carrot cake were great so I went back to try the banana bread and.. what kind of slice is that? 😭 It was good too! So it's a shame

Visited this laid back café for some lunch. I was not disappointed. I ordered the pesto mozzarella focaccia sandwich. The bread was freshly made, gorgeous sandwich. Cappuccino was smooth and mellow. 75% arabatic and 25% robusto. Very good coffee! They have a large array of desserts locally made.

Lovely little coffee shop, with charming seating areas. Service is really friendly with attention to detail and they make lovely cappuccinos. Bonus they have lots of tasty vegan treats

Great barista, lovely mocha & turmeric late. Half-price pastry after 5pm makes so much sense. "Garden" space in the back is a nice touch.

We always have a great time at the Coffee Room. Coffee and food is good. And they even serve alcohol! They also have a rewards scheme. The staff are lovely especially Jesse. She is real asset, always so welcoming and friendly. There is a garden at the back which has a roof that opens and there are heaters. Downstairs is a room where you can study or read. A must visit!

The atmosphere was great and so was the service. I bought a mini red velvet cake and it was kinda hard to bite into, but the peach and green tea was super tasty. I loved the ambience inside the seating area. But no sockets! When I went, there was construction,it was extremely loud for over an hour due to the drilling. It didn’t bother me too much but my friend was a bit bothered, but not the fault of anyone. other than that, it was nice and quiet! Overall great!

I accidentally walked into a coffee shop right before closing without realizing they shut at 8 PM. The barista was super kind and still made me an amazing flat white. So grateful for that little moment of kindness!

Very charming and unique coffee spot! The latte I ordered was great and the passion fruit pastry I tried was delicious as well. I came here to do homework, however there was no WiFi available! It did not end up being a problem because I had a book to read, but keep that in mind if you are planning to use the internet. Staff was friendly, pricing was similar to any other coffee shop, and the quality was fantastic! The covered outdoor seating area in the back added to my experience immensely, but there are also both upstairs and downstairs seating inside. I would consider this a very instagrammable spot that is great for a date, homework, or catching up with friends!

more could you ask for? Great coffee, good cakes and a lovely little seating area hidden out the back. I stumbled across this place with friends on a Sunday afternoon and was pleased to see like some it didn't shut at 4pm. The shop is charming, but very small with seating for only a few. However the shop has a little garden area with ample seating, an awning covering the area and infrared heaters. It was so cosy (even on a cold and wet day) that we stayed there for a good few hours and enjoyed more than one drink! An excellent little place to meet for coffee with friends.

A nice little coffee shop perfect to grab a takeaway on the way to Mile End Station or have a catch up with a friend (one or two only it's pretty teenie tiny!). The coffee is good- although it does vary a bit depending on who makes it. They use Climpson and Son beans. Excellent. There is a small court yard out the back that is great to chill out in. They also do pretty good sandwiches. In the am there is a whole host of sweet treats to chose from and croissants and an egg and bacon sandwich and in the arvo the other sandwiches come out. Think tomato, chorizo, brie or pumpkin, goats cheese and salad greens. The bread they use is a delicious so, so fresh sour dough which is also for sale as whole loaves. No wifi.

This is a very sweet little coffee shop around the corner from Mile End tube, small inside but also has a very cosy courtyard outside with a lot of benches packed in but with the result of feeling cosy rather than claustrophobic! The coffee and cake is very tasty, only complaint from me is that if anyone's smoking outside its obviously unpleasant for non-smokers as the space is so small. They open til late and serve lunch and dinner type food which looks great. Only thing I can find to complain about is that the courtyard is given to the smokers but you can't please everyone! I also saw a wonderful coffee quote on their blackboard: "Don't ever let anyone tell you that fairy tales aren't real. Lovely little coffee shop just off mile end station! It has both indoor and outdoor seating and their coffee is fantastic! The staff are really friendly and always very welcoming. Their cakes and sandwiches are incredibly and made fresh everyday which really makes such a massive difference! Great to have such a cute little coffee place local to me! Only down side is that excluding the outside area's the seating areas inside are a little limited so something to be mindful about if visiting on busy days.

Great little place on the edge of the street. The food was excellent we had a sausage roll a spinach roll and a BLT - service was as quick as could be expected for a very small staff in a very small place. Lots of different kinds of people from lots of places - students debating merits of political situations people talking about last nights nightlife All good here

Finally... is this a sign that Mile End is on the mend? My trek from home to Mile End every single morning has always been a depressing one as I leave behind greener pastures and find myself in... shall we say 'urban' Mile End. The nicest thing at this intersection as always been the Subway next to that shiny looking Keatons branch. Aye aye aye. SMH. Alas, it would seem that those will soon be days gone by because this charming cafe is a new addition and just the thing I've longed to see on this sad stretch of road leading into Victoria Park. It was such a welcoming sight when The Coffee Room popped up seemingly out of nowhere during the bleak London winter. The cafe is small, I believe there are only 3 or 4 tables inside but there's a small courtyard at the back. There's a wonderful selection of cakes and pastries every single day and these will be displayed in the window to tempt you on your morning commute. Their espresso is excellent, well extracted and you don't need to explain to them what a macchiato is. You can't get that at Costa across the street, can you? Besides, nothing beats coffee from a real Italian owned cafe. The Coffee Room isn't hard to spot, it's just a few doors up from The Greedy Cow and painted all grey. There's no sign above the windows just yet but when the awning comes out 'The Coffee Room' is proudly displayed in trendy courier type font. Unfortunately you don't see it unless you're across the street :P

I would probably say this was my local coffee shop but it isn't. There are several around the area and many of which I love. This is the coffee shop on the way to mile end station from my house. In fact for many, its on the very road they sterning walk along in the morning and evening. I wouldn't be pushed to think that people see it and turn away. It looks so lovely and warm inside. The wonderful brazilian owners and staff truly know how to make a decent coffee. The flat whites are huge costa style lattes and the cake/savoury selection is delectable. Please go now!!

Really great place, really great service. Little cake bits were lovely, the lovely guy behind the counter even brought over our stuff for us as he was serving other people. NOT TO FORGET THE BEST PART. A SMOKING AREA. Covered in beautiful canopies. Dubious whether its waterproof, but it provides basic shelter for all of us who can't go without nicotine for longer than a minute. But yes, best coffee in Mile End. And nicest place to drink it. Definitely recommend.

I love this place, small, very friendly staff, good coffee. It's looks very small but there is a little garden out back. The have a selection of sandwiches each day made with good quality bread and produce, and a nice evening pretty large selection of cakes. Did I mention the staff are friendly too? It matters. Good to see a great little coffee shop like this in Mile End.

One of my favourite coffee shops - the coffee is great, and the food (especially the cakes) delicious! It's quite small, but there's a nice little courtyard out the back. The staff are really lovely, too.

Excellent white chocolate and raspberry brownies and lattés. Seldom find a place that knows the real difference between that and a cappuccino. This place has become my go to en route to work via Mile End station.

Coffee is really flavoursome and it has a lovely covered outside area with heater. We wouldn't have stumbled across it if it wasn't for Yelp reviews.

I love this place - just around the corner from home, and my weekend doesn't feel right if not started here. Super friendly bar staff, tasty coffee, and a large selection of interesting snacks.

The tomato and prosciutto salad is made with sliced deli style ham not prosciutto and should be advertised as so plus was it very underwhelming it was made with chopped up iceberg lettuce sliced tasteless tomatoes and squash? it was more like ingredients from a subway than an expensive fresh locally sourced type cafe but there was a big piece of fresh mozzarella which was nice. There was real prosciutto on some of the sandwiches I saw at the counter so it's not like they just didn't have it. What I was expecting was more like nice bed of rocket with sliced cherry tomatoes, artichokes, real prosciutto and fresh moz dressed with balsamic vinegar and olive oil... something just a bit nicer especially for the price. My other issue is that there is no wifi which should be a standard for coffee shops in today's world which was very inconvenient. The outside area is cute and the coffee was good but the front area seating is super cramped.
