Where to Eat in San Juan, Where Restaurants Aren’t Just Rebuilding—They’re Thriving | Bon Appétit

"You’re gonna need to stay caffeinated to get through all this eating. Luckily, San Juan is home to a bonafide coffee boom. Island coffee crops are still in recovery, but local shops supplement local beans with mainland roasters to keep the espresso flowing. There are two main draws atCafé con Cé: cult Gustos Reserva beans and a killer patio.Café Comuniónis run by a bona fide latte art champion runs this coffee shop, so expect frothy cortados. Hit up O.G. single-origin spotDon Ruizfor perfect pour-overs with house roasted beans, then walk through Viejo San Juan toSpiga, an Italian-ish café that takes its sourdough as seriously as its espresso. End your coffee crawl atCafé Cuatro Sombras, which has been growing Arabica beans in the Yauco mountains since 1846. They’re best in cortaditos." - ByAliza Abarbanel

The Coffee in Old San Juan is a minimalist haven with a focus on simplicity and great coffee. The modern aesthetic is clean and inviting, though it comes at a slightly higher price point. We ordered from the Hot Purists Menu, enjoying a Cappuccino. We also sampled the Iced Chocolate and a Matcha Iced Latte from the Cold Purists Menu. All drinks were expertly crafted and full of flavor. The service was surprisingly quick, thanks to the efficient tablet ordering system. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant, making it a great spot to unwind and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Overall, we had a positive experience at The Coffee. While a bit pricey, the quality of the coffee and the unique ambiance make it worth a visit if you're in Old San Juan.

The Coffee has strong coffee but lacks good service. Ordering by tablet is quick and easy, though. The bathroom is small but clean and functional.

I wish I could give this place a higher ranking but honestly wished I had gone somewhere else. I got the salted caramel latte which ended up being about $8. On the pricier side but if it’s good I have no problem paying it. The latte was veryyyyy sweet. I suppose that might be how some people like it, but it was such a sweet caramel, I couldn’t really taste the coffee much. Also, the straws are pale/cardboard and disintegrated very quickly. Not a big deal but I just would rather have different cups that don’t need straws instead of paper ones. You order at a kiosk, the drink was made fairly quickly. I will say that the place itself is super cute, but I would suggested other, less expensive places for coffee

A Clean, Cozy Spot with Great Coffee I recently stopped here and had a pleasant experience overall. The first thing that caught my attention was how clean and pristine the place is—everything was spotless, and it gave a great first impression. I ordered an iced latte, and it was fantastic. The coffee was smooth, perfectly balanced, and refreshing. It’s clear they care about the quality of the coffe. That said, the atmosphere was a bit lacking during my visit. It might have just been the day or time, but it felt a little too quiet and didn’t have the lively vibe you’d expect from a coffee shop. However, the peacefulness could be a bonus for those looking to work or enjoy a calm moment with their coffee. Overall, is a lovely spot that I’d recommend, especially for coffee lovers. If you’re in the area, it’s worth a visit!

The cutest coffee cafe in Old San Juan. Came here on a rainy day it was such a cozy spot. I had chai and my boyfriend had the coffee. We bought some over-priced umbrellas also ($30) lol.

If you are looking for a chill place with good coffee in Viejo San Juan, you should visit The Coffee. I ordered a "Salted Caramel" and it had the right amount of sweetness. I also ordered a "Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich," and it was good. When you get to the place, you'll make your order on a tablet, so if you are not a technological person, I recommend asking for some help. I really loved the minimalistic design, it was refreshing to see more coffee places with different designs and styles.

Great coffee at a fairly priced for the area that is located at. The Coffee has a great minimalist atmosphere. The baristas are friendly and will treat you well. It’s a great place to relax and take shelter from Puertorrican heat.
