"The Coffee Shop NE has been around in Northeast Minneapolis for nearly 12 years — its menu features fair-trade organic coffee, tea, and classic breakfast and lunch fare. Try the signature chocolate and almond “Killer Chai,” or a seasonal brew like the bumblebee latte, made with honey, lavender, or vanilla. The sandwich selection here makes it a solid spot for a quick lunch." - Justine Jones

Great place to hang out and get work done. Relaxing atmosphere; not overly noisy. Background music is nice and not too loud or distracting. Their chicken salad sandwich is bomb! Very craveable - fresh bread, almonds, lettuce, tomato, and the cherries take it to the next level. I was surprised by how reasonable their prices are compared to some other coffee shops I frequent. I'll probably start coming here more often! My iced coffee was solid, as was my nutella, banana, and almond sandwich - very unique! Friendly staff. There are two gender-neutral bathrooms here, and an ample parking lot next to the building. Overall, a nice local coffee shop!

My wife and I enjoy coming here. They have a great selection!! The staff is friendly and welcoming. They have great breakfast sandwiches and pastries.

This place is just beautiful. Super friendly staff and a nice overall atmosphere. Lots of tables to spread out and work. A whole back area as well, which features more space and a stage. There was an open mic the night I went, which was great! But also, if you wanted to work and not hear the performers, the whole front area was apart, and had a door that shut for quiet during working. Great food, great coffee, and great feel. I will come back!

Google
I’ve only been here once so far but I’d love to come back. I stopped in on my way to work and the folks working were SO friendly. The atmosphere was very chill even with a morning rush. I can see myself coming here to get work done, journal, read, for a date. There’s a really open front area with some small tables and chairs along the walls, then another area in the back with additional seating.

Wonderful neighborhood coffee shop, great food and beverage options, plenty of comfortable, cozy seating. The staff are always warm, welcoming, and friendly. The Hot Jodi is a delicious latte!

I’ve been coming here to work for years. Good beverages. Nice lunch food. Good WiFi. Plenty of space to spread out. Easy access to plug ins. I moved away and still try to come back when I can!

We love this coffee shop. The staff are friendly, kind, and polite. The coffee is amazing and I’m a sucker for the vegan pumpkin bread.

This should be called "The Best Coffee Shop" instead. Everything from food to drinks here are incredible.

Yelp
Has turned in to a favorite coffee shop! Across from a bakery and a yarn store! Clean and spacious to sit and knit or read. Try the tomato soup and any scones they may have! Cake is good and fresh as well. Double chocolate is a favorite. Counter service is pleasant and helpful. Price is right and they have free wifi. Reusable silverware a plus.

Yelp
A great neighborhood coffee shop. Friendly service, tasty food, and hot coffee. What more do you need? Highly recommend.

Yelp
A very unique area of NE where the entire street is packed with vintage shops and overall positive vibes. The Coffee Shop NE surprised me on a Friday afternoon with nonstop customers. To me, this brought so much joy seeing a local business thrive. What makes this shop unique is the hybrid model of a breakfast restaurant as there are larger variations of food served (think egg sandwiches or lunch sandwiches, soups, grain bowls, etc.) and then a plethora of coffee and non coffee options such as ice teas and Italian sodas. The staff was far from short staffed as there were 6-7 employees working behind the register making food and drinks. The egg bagel sandwich hit home along with the classic cold press (CP) a maple soy mix. Yummy! If you dine in, you will get a number and the food will be brought to your table. There is also lots of fun merchandise to purchase such as coffee mugs, tumblers and coffee beans. There is a medium sized parking lot near the side of the building that is shared for all the surrounding shops. I wasn't able to snag one so I grabbed street parking a few blocks up. I look forward to returning again!

Yelp
What a lovely coffee shop! Just as the coffee sleeve says, The Coffee Shop NE's coffee is "made with love" and it shows! The coffee and food is delicious! I enjoyed a cup of Costa Rica blend and an Eggel with sausage on a Croissant since they were out of bagels by 9am on a Thursday. I also enjoyed a slice of pumpkin bread, too! The cafe is cozy and comfy, quiet too, a perfect place to refresh. There are no hassles with parking too, since there's an attached parking lot at this establishment.! LOVE!

Yelp
Came across this coffee shop and decided to do lunch to gosh I had the mozzarella and tomato sandwich . As I waited I took a seat in some of the few seats that were in the front section of the building. My order came right out and they told me to not forget to grab a fruit and a chip bag which I was surprised about. That just shows I didn't read the menu closely but hey I came out with a ruffles chips bag and an apple that I'm sure was a honey crisp because it was so juicy ! Honestly having this lunch on a Sunday made me have a great rest of my day. I felt the meal was very balanced and staff was very friendly! I noticed in display they had really appetizing slices of cake which I'm determined to get next time I'm here. Parking is very tricky here I'll say that, but I was very fortunate to find parking right in front of the building. The space looks pretty big in the back so it can accommodate a big group.

Yelp
I've visited this shop a few times in the past, and while it's a cute neighborhood coffee shop, there's several points that could be improved on. First, and what I find very disappointing and annoying, is they don't post prices of their bakery items. I find this lazy and rude to customers who are not trying to break the bank while treating themselves. And it's inefficient to ask the cashier how much everything costs until you find something within budget. For my recent visit in mid-December 2023, I ordered a cafe latte, just so I could enjoy the coffee without it hiding behind any flavorings. It was pretty tasteless. Considering how popular this place is, I guess it's worth more to buy one of their more expensive, flavored drinks. I haven't tried any of their food (mostly because I'm not in the mood for a sandwich and I don't know what anything costs in the bakery case). There's free wifi and plenty of seating (booths, high-tops, and regular tables). For service, it's a bit disappointing. I find the baristas are too busy fooling around, chatting, and not moving at a reliable pace to get through the Saturday morning rush. Bathrooms: clean, 2 separate, single toilet bathrooms. Accessibility: for hearing impaired folks, it can get a bit loud when the place fills up, but it's tolerable if you grab one of the booths. They haven't been playing any music when I've been there. For anyone in a wheelchair, you'll have trouble getting in, as there's a single step up to get into the front door. The place is pretty spacious once you get in.

Tiana D.

Yelp
A great neighborhood coffee shop! Their drinks are consistently good! My favorite is the Hot Jodi - a latte with cinnamon and honey. They usually have a featured menu with seasonal drinks too! The front counter staff is always super nice. Now that they've opened the back, there are plenty of places to sit. Parking is usually easy as well! You can typically find space in the adjacent lot. Only complaint is that if you go on a weekend, orders usually take awhile, especially if you get food.

Katie L.

Yelp
As some others have mentioned, the cold brew here is undrinkably bitter. I was excited to try this spot and had high expectations since the line was out the door. However, I ended up dumping 3/4 of the drink and had struggled to down the first 1/4.

Alex P.

Yelp
Such a great spot located amongst a grouping of small businesses in NE! If you are having a day, go get a slice of cake. It is AMAZING!!! This small shop has a great range of hours and full breakfast/lunch menu. Truly something for everyone at this shop. Highly recommend stopping in and staying a while. People are coming and going throughout the day making it a great spot to get some work done.

Susan J.

Yelp
Always quite slow in preparing drink even when not very busy. Their prices are higher than other coffee shops yet I don't find them to be better tasting. Lots of things posted about causes they are passionate about vs. sticking to being a coffee shop.

Ella C.

Yelp
love the breakfast sandwiches, cake, and drinks. staff is fine, but there's not too much interaction. great seating options and ambiance. great place to have breakfast or do some work.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Tasty treats, good coffee in a spacious open environment. I enjoy sitting with my coffee and watching people or reading & journaling.

Immaculate I.

Yelp
The Eggel was delicious. Just go and read Kara's review It's cold like she said!!

Molly M.

Yelp
Have you ever walked into a coffee shop & been intimidated by the choices? And while reading the coffee menu get an major attitude from the barista? Well-don't expect that HERE at The Coffee Shop NE! My female Barista was friendly and efficient-helping me to find the perfect coffee drink: A blended latte with a shot of mint and topped with whipped cream. Thank you Coffee Shop NE! Next time I will try something new (and hopefully as wonderful as the blended latte).

Callie C.

Yelp
Love grabbing coffee (The Mangler, Iced with Caramel) here on the weekends and walking over to Fare Game to get a Cauliflower Al Pastor Taco when they're open! I also love their Veggie B-fast Wrap, Hummus & Veggie Sandwich and Key Lime Pie Bars! Cool hangout spot to sit and eat/drink in the back and they also have some outdoor seating. A little pricey, but it's worth it to support local restaurants!!

Carmeniris S.

Yelp
Coffee is okay at best and the food is giving nursing home meal. Very bland and sad looking. I don't know how this coffee shop gets so many stars. The coffee shop itself looks like they host bingo nights. You can barely hear the baristas shout the coffee out. If you are sitting in the bingo side.

Rachelle N.

Yelp
I've fallen in love with this coffee spot since moving into the area. The employees are amazing. The coffee is good. They are great at getting java into my hands at a speedy fastest rate. They have a pretty dang good selection lovely, not too sweet pastries and healthy food choices for breakfast and lunch to boot! One of these days I'm going to make it to there live music and writers night. Everything about this coffee shop just warms my coffee shop loving heart .

Caroline P.

Yelp
I live nearby and brought my mom here recently and she goes "I love this place!" and then looked at me and went "You need to come here more!" Ok mom, I will!! Their coffee is great whether you drink black coffee, a latte, or something more involved, they really do have something for everyone. Also their curry tuna sandwich/salad is SO good!!!

Jessica E.

Yelp
Love this little shop! Always welcoming and inxlusive. The coffee is amazing. The desserts are 10/10. Great atmosphere for work or studying.

Bella J.

Yelp
Best coffee shop to study and chill and enjoy live music. 1. Service The best ever. I feel so welcome and respected and valued as a customer. I really have no complaint whatsoever. I only have praises after another. 2. Drinks and food options- excellent You can get all your favorite coffee and tea here. They even serve milk with honey upon request and whatever you can imagine. Most importantly unlike every other high reviewed coffee houses, this one offers excellent choice of breakfast specials, cakes, cookies and salad and whatever you want. Basically, you can practically stay here ALL day long. I hated how i had to leave for example Spyhouse every time I am hungry. Here, you got everything you need. If the cake choices aren't good enough, cross the street to a bakery and get something to eat and come back. 3. Open mic/Live music Usually on Sundays they have open mic. I saw it twice and loved it. So cozy, people are intimate and nice and music is awesome. 4. Parking Tons of free street parking up to 90 mins and it is free after 6 pm. Never had issue with parking here. 5. Excellent lightning When you are trying to actually get work done, it is great here. They have excellent lightning that won't hurt your eyes. Key reason why I am choosing to come here over any other coffee house/study spots. 6. Standing table I do read about the health related articles and I am choosing to stand while working instead of sitting. Here they have only 2 seats that are like that. But still it is better than none. 7. Two unisex restrooms It is smart they don't divide it into mens and women's. As we all know women's room always have a line. It is best to have them unisex in places like these. They never have line, which I like on top of it being clean. 8. Working A/C I have been to a few coffee shops following Yelp's good reviews and was shocked when I found out they didn't have AC in summer. I am happy to report that here the AC works perfectly! All in all, they have everything you can hope for. Large study tables for group of 10 or so, to small wooden chair/table if you like it hard or soft cushion ones if you like being cozy, standing and/or bar stools/table available. Whatever gets you productive you got it here and it is bright not a dark dungeon like set up most coffee shops are going these days. Simply put, THE BEST. I did have some selfish thought before posting it... They have few reviews and most people don't come here and I like it is not too crowded. But hey, if some place is doing a good job, it is only right to share it. Being a good Yelper here.

John S.

Yelp
About time I updated this review and for the better. I'm not sure why I gave them 4 stars previously but we'll up to 5 now that I've had a closer look. There is fresh home baked creative pastries including Zucchini Bread and other harder to find items. There were five air pots of coffee, which the barrista controls, starting with the lightest to the darkest brew which was an Italian Roast, another hard to find blend. A full board of menu items and open an amazing 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. 7 days a week. The place is still packed and there is a back room with more tables.

Monique H.

Yelp
This coffee shop has kind of become my go-to when I'm looking to just sit and read. I can typically block out noise around me if I'm stuck in a good book, but as far as studying goes the noise level here could be a bit much. I've never tried any meals here, but the baked goods I have sampled are decent. They're not exemplary by any means, but I hang out here for the coffee and the atmosphere. It's a fairly spacious shop/cafe with friendly, almost jovial staff. They have an array of events like open mic nights, live music, and readings. I've missed having a regular coffee shop spot and this place comes close to fulfilling that need.

Kevin E.

Yelp
woke up early on Sunday and wanted a breakfast sandwich - unfortunately Hazel's wasn't open yet but the Coffee Shop was and they coffee and breakast is excellent. I went too early as the bagels (from Brueggers) weren't there yet but I was able to get a breakfast wrap and it was very large and good. I also got a fresh, hot scone and even though I'm trying to cut out pastries and a lot of carbs, it was worth it! I'll be back and recommend this place to anyone o'er nordeast on Johnson

Kara D.

Yelp
I have been to The Coffee Shop NE a few times and don't have one qualm about it! First of all, their bathroom features a framed collage of cat photos. It's straight up obnoxious and f'ing I LOVE it. There's also local art on the walls. I appreciate that there are two rooms here - a sunny space in the front of the cafe and an extended dining room that is more appropriate for meetings or working. The service is always quick and perky, even when there's a line. I've enjoyed their Classic CP: maple-soy cold press and they have a list of the classic caffeine staples, plus a few specials too. Their daily quiche menu features about 5 different egg pies, and their Eggel (egg sammie on a bagel) comes STACKED. Other tips/tidbits: - Bring a sweatshirt, it's usually pretty chilly in the back dining area - Park at the free Johnson Street Merchants lot - $4 minimum on cards - If you're going to tip on the card, let them know as they ring you up - When you order food, you'll receive a number and they'll bring it to your table - Drink orders are called for self-pickup at the counter - One unisex bathroom - Free wifi

Yelp
Gentrification completed. Not a single poc in the place, at least not visible as worker or guest. Reinforced by the fact that i showed up w my wyt boyfriend and was completely overlooked while he ordered. No smile, no welcome, no return visit from me. Unimpressive for a city as diverse as Minneapolis. Go to South Minneapolis for real community coffee.

Maggie H.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Sunday morning because the place across the street was too busy. I would have rather just gone home. My partner got a cheesy egg bowl for around $4. The bowl was about the size that you would get a side order of cole slaw with-tiny! We could have gone to the store and bought over a dozen eggs for that! I ordered a wrap and it was decent but was misled by the "veggie cream cheese" that was advertised. (This may be obvious but the wrap was made with real cream cheese and cheese shreds as well). They have fruit for sides but it is your typical sad fruit bowl. Drinks were so-so. I had a special iced maple something-or-other and my partner had the coffee. Over-priced and the atmosphere emulates a church basement but the local artwork almost made up for that.. almost Also a little disappointed that they don't compost. I know you can't have it all but hey! It's NE!

Susie A.

Yelp
This is a really neat neighborhood coffee shop that you can tell the locals use. Quiet. People chatting with friends or working on a laptop. Very friendly staff. Lots of treats that aren't listed on their website menu are piled on the counter wrapped in cellophane (breads & bars), in the deli/sandwich case in plastic boxes (cake & pie slices), or under a large glass cake dome (muffins & croissants).... Serious eye candy for the tummy! You know what I mean. These items are all brought in from area bakers. The food they make on site is also good. I had a terrific salad with pistachios, cranberries, apples and feta. My girlfriend had a chicken salad on a croissant and enjoyed it. We both had coffee and chocolate cake, which was a monster piece of rich dark goodness.... Heaven.

Kaylen L.

Yelp
I have been coming here since before it was owned by the current owners, and I wanted to say that it's been done justice. I love the menu, they have really delicious small dishes and snacks. The baristas are always amazing at their job and prepare the drinks spectacularly. They try to host and support many local persons, including having open mics and hanging local art on the walls for sale. It's also got a great parlor for doing homework in. Great place, I will continue coming for a while now

Tammy M.

Yelp
Great coffee shop with awesome selection of sandwiches and goodies. Vegetarian and vegan friendly too!

Emma P.

Yelp
amaris 10/10 amazing service and a great attitude! helped me with all of my caffeinated needs and cravings! so humble and cool!

Yelp
This review reminds me of Alison C's list, Here I Am ("Places so good I am actually there now.") because GUESS WHAT---I'm here. The scene: The Coffee Shop NE (where Audubon used to be). Fresh paint on the walls and modern, cork-like fixtures make it a nice update to the neighborhood. The colors are as warm as the people behind the counter. There are a few sidewalk tables and a counter that looks out onto the street. Best of all, lots and lots and LOTS of power outlets. And whatever you do, you must go to the bathroom here. Do it. Squeeze one out if only to experience what it's like to be watched and photographically judged by the gawking Coffee Shop NE lady on the wall. Then you can order your coffee from that lady and it will be awkward. Don't worry though---she'll know why. The cast: A medley of characters from the neighborhood that are working on their computers (like me); a couple of quiet gentlemen reading on the two armchairs in back; three younger guys taking a breather from the construction work they are doing nearby; the manager of Amici Pizza; and the stylin' manager of Rewind (her son in tow). Uh...wow... that was surprising. When I look up from my computer, it turns out I recognize a lot of people here! Excuse me while I go say hi... OK, I'm back. The props: Small cold press with soy and maple ($3.50). It's one of the specialties. It's very sweet, but it is perfect if you're looking for something creamy and dessert-like. It also was NOT very small, so I don't know what the large looks like. I think I'd like to try one of their iced teas next time (I overhear rhubarb is one of the flavors!). They also have a small menu of sandwiches, pastries and snacks. All in all, it's an as-good-as-it-gets showing for this renewed coffee shop on Johnson! Encore!

Rachel R.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous for studying and getting some work done! Open until 10PM. :) They have a very spacious back room with a variety of setting. The drip coffee was quite tasty as well. When I was there they were serving three different brews, plus a decaf. I had the coconut flavored that was VERY coconut flavored. Yum! I also enjoyed a Greek salad, minestrone soup and risk crispy bar. I will be returning.

Amir S.

Yelp
Do you agree that the "coffee shop" part of The Coffee Shop NE's name is to some extent misleading -- in a good way? You could find items on their menu that you don't usually expect to see on a coffee shop's menu. It's still a coffee shop, of course. But it is a coffee shop where you could "build your own sandwich." I like coffee shops whose non-beverage menus are diverse and this business is an exemplar of such coffee shops. It's what I like the most about here. What I don't like is that it is more noisy than most coffee shops. This place is not very big (they are expanding the seating area, though) and the amount of noise especially when it's crowded is a little high for a place of this size which makes it a not-very-suitable place for studying/working. It's unfortunate! Because in addition to ample parking, there are literally tens of electrical outlets (the highest per-capita outlets in the Twin Cities, I believe!) that could have made it an ideal place for studying/working. The diverse menu and more-than-enough outlets and parking spots aside, the highlight of this place is the restroom on whose walls half a dozen of the barista's (or the owner's?) framed pictures with different gestures are hung. How do you feel when the barista, the same person who took your order a while ago, looks at you when you're doing your #2?! Doesn't really matter. Because depending on at which picture you're looking, you could see how she feels! Someone please remind me to create my "businesses with most interesting restrooms" list!

Sara W.

Yelp
I have passed this place multiple times on my frequent adventures to Rewind Vintage, yet have never stopped in. I decided I needed a new place to study and this shop immediately came to mind. This place is fantastic! Locals gather here, and the managers know everyone by name. New goal for the week: I want to be remembered by name too, and that won't be difficult to go back, as their food & coffee is delicious! I opted to try their Field Greens Salad, which is a delight mixture of greens, beets, onions, pistachios, apples, crasins, feta, & vinaigrette. Now that's what I call a salad. The space is not very big, yet roomy enough to come for a quick bite to eat with friends, or come to study at a table. However, it appeared as I was one of the only lingering ones here, as most people sat down with their coffee, read the paper, and then exited shortly after. They have a bunch of "specialty drink" options as well, and I can't wait to return to try out the Killer Chai (Chai tea + almond + chocolate). Enough said. As others have mentioned, omg OUTLETS! Can I tell you how difficult it has been to find a study venue with great food AND more than 2 outlets within a 6 ft square? Well ladies & gentlemen, this is the spot to go. Also, had to check out the restroom as Annie D. made me curious for more. There are four scattered mustaches on the mirror along with a hilarious photo stream of funny pictures. I loved every second of it. Can't wait to make this a routine place after my Rewind splurges. Next time the cheese place & killer chai are on the agenda!

Abigail B.

Yelp
Literally the coziest, cutest, ma & pa -like coffee shop EVER. best food, mediocre brewed coffee but great cold brew & espresso. fantastic place to do homework (which I do here weekly!) and also has a huge back room with a table available to rent out. Pretty busy on weekend mornings but because of ample seating, you're destined to find at least a seat at the counter!

Jonathan B.

Yelp
This is my favorite little coffee shop NE...! Great coffee and EXCELLENT cold brew. The shop has an array of snacks and treats that are delicious. The monster cookie is a must have! Soup, sandwiches, and pasta salads are made in house. Always a good selection. All of this bundled up with good service in a cute and cozy environment. If you're like me, I enjoy supporting my local community and local businesses.

Katie H.

Yelp
MY FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP and I'll tell you why- the most wonderful staff that are fast, so nice, and genuine wonderful people. The food and drink are top notch ingredients. The hours are fantastic. And SO MUCH seating. I can always count on a spot to do my homework. There is a parking lot next door. I even moved 20 mins away and continue coming here. The people, service, environment. 10/10! Community environment.

Mira S.

Yelp
After finding the wait at hazels too long, went across the street to this place. No regrets. Lots of coffee choices, and non-coffee. The maple soy coldpress was very sweet, but the coffee flavor was excellent. Plenty of street parking. A decent selection of breakfast and lunch stuff in the case. Friendly staff. It's very spacious inside, with lots of seating. The back room is really cute, and perfect except for the lack of windows. A sign said they have a live music series, which is cool for a little coffee place.

H W.

Yelp
A lovely local coffee shop. It is a great place to spend a few minutes or a few hours. I love their blueberry fields black iced tea and the cherry oatmeal bars. Their cold press is strong and tasty too. I love going here. The staff are super friendly folks.

Kara K.

Yelp
We walked in, and there was a horrible smell in the air. The desserts looked good so we got cookies, but they tasted a few days old. We both ordered a bagel egg sandwich with turkey; the bagel was cold and rubbery and the turkey was just a slice of deli meat so you couldn't taste it over all of the egg. Wouldn't recommend.

Illy G.

Yelp
Very friendly to new customers like myself. Good size menu on food, breakfast and dessert Very clean good energy and staff very attentive to their customers /experience I totally recommend!!!!

Jen J.

Yelp
Coffee is delicious, isn't that the most important party? Staff is friendly, and the food looked really good.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Super amazing gluten free and vegetarian options, very flexible and so friendly! The staff here is so sweet and helpful.

Adela J.

Yelp
Just came by to check out the place and have some sweets. Red Velvet Cake - Mediocre. Egg Nog Scone - Mediocre. Didn't taste like egg nog. The desserts weren't worth it, but honestly, it was a nice looking place. There's wooden tables and chairs in the front, and a nice couch lounge area in the back.

Meredith M.

Yelp
There's no denying the cute factor of this coffee shop...nice artwork, cozy booths, decorative lighting, and bright happy colors. I came here on a Saturday morning and a lot of people were eating quiche and salad so that's a good sign that it must be good! I appreciate the option for recycling, but this is Minneapolis and it's required, but still. Good to see. On the other hand, for a coffee shop where a lot of people come to do work or study, I would have preferred not to hold up the line to ask for the wifi password since it isn't posted anywhere. They have a good selection of drip coffee, toasted almond was goooood. As I was looking around though at the crowded place, I was disappointed that we were the only ones drinking from ceramic mugs and that is only because we asked. When will it become the trend to get rid of the paper cups for people who are staying? Also, there were a ton of plastic cups and straws which drives me crazy. However, I should mention that you get significantly less coffee in their mugs, $2 and then $1 for refills? Call me stingy I guess, but I think especially for using the small mugs, maybe free refills or 50 cents? On another note, the morning that we went, I noticed that right when we walked in there was a little bit of a peculiar smell. Haha I think I'm sensitive to odors but I got used to it. Anyway, this is undoubtedly a nice place but could perhaps be a bit improved here and there and then it'd be a treasure!

Kara L.

Yelp
An always busy and bustling shop with all the neighborhood locals. Yes, the coffee is good and there is a small food menu with a nice variety of fare. Sandwiches, soups, salads (green and pasta), fruit, chips, and baked goods. I've never fallen off my chair over the food in a good or bad way but it all seems fresh and homemade. I don't recommend this as a place for a quiet corner to study as it's usually very loud and more conducive to a gathering of friends. There are some local goods for sale and a board where residents can post about events or other interests like goods and services. Even if you spend a few minutes in the shop you will smell like roasted beans. It permeates your clothes and hair in seconds! This coffee shop is a little hub for the neighborhood that is reflective of those of us who live here. All are welcome and can congregate, sit in solitude, or watch Johnson Street's activity.

Yelp
Kicking off a month of writing (see: NaNoWriMo, "crazy writer people') tonight at this lovely little spot. Much more space than I realized, their back room is made for both big and small group meet ups. Lots of happy chatting going on as I approached the counter to order. The lady who rung up my order was very friendly and helpfully explained the four coffee pots on the counter. I ordered the Florentine which is a hot cocoa made with drip coffee. It was very good and did not last long. Ended up getting a refill ($1 flat for a medium cup). All in all a pleasant experience. Will definitely be returning here!

Yelp
This is by far the best coffee shop in the area- the coffee's great, the baked goods are delish, and the the space is amazing. I love that they have a really big but basic coffee menu (though they do have seasonal specials), but you can customize your drink in almost any way without any up-charges. But...if you're not a coffee DIY-er, they will also make great recommendations. They have the biggest and most well-maintained space of any coffee shop in the area. Cool artwork, comfortable seating, and some limited outdoor seating too. If you are looking for a coffee shop that has great coffee, but is also friendly and comfortable without any pretentious air, this is the spot!

Yelp
Such a great spot so convenient to the bus!! They're usually pretty busy, but drip coffee and cold brew come out right away! I've been here several times and have always been pleased with my orders. They offer a variety of baked goods and have salads in a cooler case to see what you get before you order. Sandwiches here are great too!
