The Coffee Shop

Stopped in while riding HMT trails, the owner and staff were so incredibly nice and friendly. I felt like I gained family over lunch. Food is spot on as well. Highly recommend for that old school diner feel and food!

Well I came to the quiet little town of war seeking relief from a very stressful situation. The only relief that I had found here was the morning I stepped into the side nook known as the Coffee Shop. Not only was the hospitality I encountered but the delicious brown gravy breakfast platter served up hot-n-fresh with just the right touch of southern love the most delightful experience I must say I had. MUST GO!,just dont stay!

Home cooking at it's best. Momma has been running the place for 51 years. Super sweet people, great food. Roast beef special and homemade cheesecake were amazing and the best sweet tea I've ever had. A must stop if ur in town or riding the trails!

Folks have been cooking homemade dishes for decades! The fresh biscuits and gravy are TO DIE FOR. Hear stories from the mountain, sip hot coffee, and enjoy a step back into time with the old counters with stationary vinyl topped metal wrapped bar stools. If you want classic War, WV needs nostalgic diner....this is it.

Great food and service. Real food made in a tiny kitchen by a wonderful lady. The locals made us feel right at home and shared stories of the town and offered up info on the local Outlaw trails.

Had a great breakfast and met great people today when we rode our rental atv (sxs) into the town and ate here. But bring cash. No charge cards accepted. There is a atm in a store a few doors up

The little lady that runs this place is a sweet heart.....Eating here is like going to grandma's house.....she makes some huge pancakes snd loads you down with bacon. ......A must stop if Goin threw this small southern town.....

This was seriously the best biscuit and gravy I have ever had. Great, friendly service in putting up with our huge group of hungry college kids. I am so glad Father Harry from Christ the King Catholic Church treated us to brunch here. It was a pleasure visiting War and the rest of McDowell County!
