I visited this café last week to try it out, and overall, my experience started off well. However, when I went to order my coffee, I encountered an issue with the barista. She was somewhat rude to me, which I initially dismissed as her having a bad day. However, I noticed that she was exceptionally polite to other customers, making it clear that I was the only one receiving this treatment.
Aside from this, the café itself was decent, though I found the coffee to be overpriced for the portion size (Starbucks offers larger cups). Unfortunately, I can't fairly assess the taste of the coffee, as it was not brewed correctly, which resulted in a poor experience.
While I don’t want to make any assumptions, a coworker who was with me observed the situation and mentioned that it seemed as though I was being singled out. Given that I have brown skin and the other customers, including my coworkers, were white, I couldn’t help but feel that her behavior may have been racially motivated. That said, I do not believe the establishment itself is at fault, but I do hope that all staff members, including this particular barista, strive to treat every customer with the same level of respect and kindness.
