This is a well-run club with great shows and the best classes. I go venues at least 2-3x per week as an audience member, performer, and occasional show producer, and The Comedy Arena is my top recommendation. The shows are fun! Management and staff are top notch. The food is good quality bar fare. Drinks are reasonably priced. It’s a friendly environment, and downtown McKinney is cute & vibrant with easy parking. Highly recommend!

Google
This is a stand out comedy theater. Not only do they have there own brilliant improv comedy shows they pull in great acts from stand-up to sketch! You're getting a wonderful variety of acts throughout the year. The owners of this fine venue runs a tight ship. It's a well-oiled machine. The theatre is very clean. Super friendly staff. Food and drinks are available! Love this place. Highly recommended for a great all around experience.

Google
The Comedy Arena was a great place for a date night with my husband! Last night, we attended a fun show, enjoyed delicious food, and met some amazing folks. The staff was super friendly, and the venue itself was clean and well maintained ( not always our experience at other comedy clubs). Can’t wait to return!

Google
This was my friend's & I first time here to see a comdey show but not just any show a magic comedy show with Mark Clearview. The atmosphere was great & inviting and the highlight was our server Ms. SUN. She had the best personality, super nice & great customer service. Checking on our table throughout the night & became family like a long lost cousin...LOL. If u visit this venue request ur server to be Ms SUN.

Google
Great place for fun and laughs. The downstairs is a cafe and bar. 30 minutes before the show they start letting people go upstairs to the comedy room. Each person is required to purchase a minimum of 2 items from the menu. I had bottled water but only drank half because I was laughing so hard at the comedians and was worried i'd spit it out. I also had the sopapilla ice cream that was delicious. My husband had a beer and funnel cake fries. The show was 90 minutes with the manager doing the opening act, then a local North Texas who was hilarious, then the main act . After the show the comedians were downstairs in the cafe available for autographs, souvenirs, and some chit chat. I'd recommend this place for anyone who needs a good laugh.

Google
To say the Comedy Arena was great is an understatement. We came in for the Improv Horror Show and it was an absolute blast. The actors, the atmosphere and the food were all very well balanced and not very expensive. I would definitely recommend going.

Google
Went for the first time with a friend and although I’m glad I experienced it I will more than likely not come again. Ambiance and staff are nice. The first improv show was very strange and confusing to say the least the second was much better. We ordered the spinach dip and skillet cookie, the portions are small and resemble bad bar food. Minimum of two items have to be ordered per person apart from the tickets. Spent $80 just for two people.

Google
Nice atmosphere, very good vibes, and some of the Acts were very very funny. I'm surprised they're just local. Kevin the host brought amazing energy. The bartenders are cool. Even the food was good. Definitely making it a part of my routine.

Yelp
Food: The main entrees we ordered were not good at all! I would recommend just buying drinks. We ordered the following Appetizers: 1) Meatballs: this tasted like it came out of a frozen dinner. It was not great! 2) mozzarella sticks: this might have been the best dish we ordered. It was definitely frozen mozzarella sticks, but it was good! Entree: 1) Tex Mex burger- this did not taste fresh! It had a funk to it! 2) chicken tenders: It was fine! Nothing to rave about. I wouldn't order it again! Ambiance: Weds night improv was so much fun! I would recommend buying your tickets online since the room is a bit small, and you get a discount for buying online rather than at the door!! Service: Our server was great!

Yelp
This was a really cool place where they have performances and apparently classes. We came by to watch an improv group. The drinks they have are delicious, but the variety of food could be better-- especially adding in a few gluten free options.

Yelp
I went on an improv night when the Not About Bears troupe had a show and had a blast! I had only planned to go for a short amount of time to support a friend but I ended up staying until the end. Not About Bears was so good, and everyone else who participated did a great job. I laughed so much! Everyone was so friendly and I felt very welcomed as a first timer. It's a trek for me from Carrollton but I would totally go again.

Yelp
Free parking in the garage next door, cheap tickets, decent food, lots of laughs! I came with some acquaintances to support one of the improv performers. The emcee did a fantastic job involving the audience by asking for categories that helped setup the scenes. The troupe of performers were quite entertaining and thought quickly on their feet. The waitress stopped by our table numerous times throughout the show delivering drinks and food. I had the "Surprise Me" and a vegetable flatbread. Both were quite good. The flatbread was served piping hot. Even though this place is further away than I like to drive, I would seriously consider rkknneturning to see another show.

Yelp
I took three standup comedy classes here. The instructor was professional and kind. I learned so much. My classmates were fun and encouraging. I have loved the shows I've attended and open mic night is great for trying out new material. My husband and I have enjoyed attending shows on date night. I love the flatbread and the bartenders have always been friendly to me.

Yelp
This is my go to comedy club in the Dallas area. Great classes... Open mic night on Tuesdays at 7:00.. Top notch comedians & openers. Late night Kareoke on Fridays. Full bar. Great food. Fantastic staff and owners. I always feel welcome and have a great time.

Yelp
We (two couples) went there for a Veteran's Day show on a Saturday night. All (almost) of the comedians were Vets. Fabulous cozy venue and very funny show. Drinks were spot on and the service was great. The food was reasonable and good. Will definitely return!
google avatar

Rynisha H.

Yelp
Couldn't get in the show. Sat in the bar area and not one staff member offered the menu or service. Just know racism still exists here‼

Kevin D.

Yelp
Absolutely the best place to watch and experience comedy in McKinney, Tx. Great shows and amazing staff! Best place to eat and drink!

Yelp
Great comedy, great atmosphere, great night out! If you're anywhere in McKinney and you want somewhere to go on a weekday or weekend night, you need to stop by. There is a bar downstairs and the atmosphere is super casual and welcoming. If you want to see a show on a particular night, I recommend booking online ahead of time.

Yelp
Tickets were reasonable in price, however pay attention if purchasing them in advance online because a $10 donation is automatically added to your cart. You are able to select the back button and go back to take it off. We attended comedy sports which is like an amateur Who's Line is it Anyway kind of show. Heads up there was very young children there and the show is family friendly. It had its funny moments but I think if I go again it will be for one of their stand up shows. Upstairs was a little warm and youre seated very close together. Would have been more comfortable with either better AC or some fans. Show was an hour long. There is a two drink/item minimum for each person. Limited menu and as I'm gluten free I was unable to order any food. The drinks were very reasonably priced. Wine was $8. If you order downstairs you're told you don't need to worry about closing the tab, which I found out upstairs is kind of a lie to ensure they get a 20% tip. If you don't close your tab they add 20% for their tip. While this wasn't a huge deal for me bc I was going to leave 20% anyways, I think it is wrong that I was told I didn't need to close it when I asked directly after my purchase. That coupled with the automatic $10 donation add on just makes me think there are some questionable businesses practices going on. Overall an okay evening just not a five star experience.

Yelp
Amazing venue!!! We came this evening to see Peter Antoniou. I've been to many comedy venues and the service here was amazing and such a intimate setting everyone felt part of the show! We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Great place I never knew was here. Definitely a hidden gem with the ambiance of the place. I would def recommend as it is a nice night out on the town

John D.

Yelp
Amazing local live entertainment within a 10 minute drive? Yes it's funny as hell! This is a hidden gem that is a great family friendly, handsome lights, friend group or great date place (So I have observed)! Hottest looking bartender in McKinney.! She can multitask and makes a cocktail , with a little coconut that makes you coming back for more! You'll have to ask for it secretly

Molly C.

Yelp
Bridget is awesome! She was so helpful & made great drinks. A must place to visit! The comedy is great, too!

Keely R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to the Comedy Arena last night, and Oh my God did we have a good time! I called at least three times to see if they had cancellations and they were so polite and patient. I'm so happy we got to spend our New Year's Eve celebration at the Comedy Arena! Definitely a new date night spot for us.

Brice M.

Yelp
I was at the comedy arena and Kim was extremely helpful and had awesome drink recommendations loved her!

Cammi A.

Yelp
After sitting through a mediocre comedy show (at best) for about an hour and a half, I asked my server for another drink, with the hope of making the show a bit more than just tolerable. After waiting patiently while my server disappeared for a while then came back to let everyone around me know it was last call and disappear again, I finally got up and found her to check on my drink. To which she responded, "I'm sorry, I heard you dropped a drink and you have had 3 so you are cut off." *Insert jaw drop* I dropped my first drink that I took ONE sip of when I tripped. I immediately notified staff, and we had an entire conversation about how sad it is when you spill a drink, much less your first one. I then had 2 drinks and more than half a flatbread, in an hour and a half. I should mention, the waitress that decided to cut me off was not the person that served me said dropped drink, nor had I seen her at all earlier in the night. I'm not sure when exactly the switch happened but it was definitely after the show started. I am absolutely baffled from this experience in it's entirety. It truly saddens me that a place that could be so cool is so lame and treats it's patrons in this way. Note to incompetent waitress, that probably showed up late to work in the first place, do not make someone come find you to tell them you have cut them off be an adult and have a conversation.

Yelp
It's legit cheesy, but in a very cute, family friendly way. When you first enter, you get these glowsticks that you use to vote during the show and throughout the show the audience is highly encouraged to interact with the cast member. The gist of the show is that there are three teams competing. They go through a series of challenges that are egged on and selected by the audience. I'm most impressed by how quick the cast members think on their feet. Snacks and drinks are also available for purchases. There is also an intermission should you need one. Overall, two thumbs up!

Kylie W.

Yelp
I'll keep it short and simple...I wish. I went with a group of people who were mostly under 21. The show was not 21+ so this was fine. Most of the folks I went with were accused of underage drinking by some douche at the ticket counter (who also was behind the bar....that literally none of my underage friends approached). I left a bit of a rant on google reviews so I won't dive in as much here, but this experience left my friends and I feeling embarrassed even though we were kind and respectful of the rules. Had a guy come up and ask for the drink I legally bought because he was saying someone at my table had been caught drinking it. I gave it to him, not actually knowing if this had been true or not because I had been trying to enjoy the comedy show (who would've thought?) after the fact I asked for a refund for the barely touched beer. The guy said that would be totally okay and said that I'd get a refund. Flash forward less than an hour, I get the tab and the beer is on it. I kindly asked him if it could be removed as promised when he responded by saying the owner said that wasn't going to happen. I asked him if I could speak with the owner and he said that he was going to call the police and get my license taken away. He also started yelling to my friends that I was too drunk, which, again, felt embarrassing considering I had not even had half a beer that night. Idk what kind of power trip this guy was on but wow, my night was pretty much ruined. Hope you're proud buddy! And - to the actual owner of the comedy arena - I'd love to get my side of the story out there and just maybe get that refund? Anyway, came for the comedy and ended up getting a drama.

Yelp
My wife and I went here for a date night and watched the ComedySportz improv competition. It was similar to the TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway?. We had a blast and laughed throughout the whole show. I was so impressed by how talented each of the teams were. The referee of the games was a fun host and was entertaining as well. We had the bar make us Moscow Mules to drink and they were very good! We will definitely be back!

David C.

Yelp
Fun local comedy club in downtown McKinney. My wife and I were looking for a comedy club to enjoy on a Friday night and came across this one quite close by. Figured we would give it a shot. We had a really good time at the ComedySportz show. Audience participation is highly encouraged and makes the variety pretty fun. I'll have to come back and bring the kids as well because this is a great show for the younger folk as well. The food was actually pretty nice as well. Their mini burgers ("bigger than a slider and smaller than a Buick") are just a bit larger than a slider. They aren't enough for a good meal with the chips or fries they come with, but it is enough for a light meal. If you want a nice combo, the garlic cheesy bread was a really tasty accompaniment. Most places put so little garlic on it, you can barely taste it. It was spot on for our evening.

Yelp
We went as a group of 6 last Saturday and attended the 9:30 pm show. It was very funny ad-lib comedy. Laughter is good medicine as they say and we will be back for more laughs. It is great to patronize small locally owned businesses. It is great to have this in Mckinney.
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
My husband went to watch the show and had some good laughs with the improv team. While we were there, my husband had a sudden unexplained drop in blood pressure and got sick. The staff was very compassionate and helpful and stood by us while we were trying to figure out what to do. He is better now, but we wanted to thank the team for your kindess and we love that you all brought comedy to McKinney. It is just what we need right now, to laugh and come together!
google avatar

Jenai J.

Yelp
Don't bother. I'm not sure how this place has gotten any positive reviews unless they were written by employees. The only comedy to be found was in how devastatingly horrible this whole clown show was. Don't come expecting a standup show. This act is a group of adults who compete in teams based on scenarios suggested by the audience. The premise is questionable, the execution is abysmal. The entire display of fatuity was truly cringe-worthy. We left at intermission and regret staying that long. I'm giving two stars because it's BYOB, but even that is not enough to compensate for the idiocy of the whole event. You would think a bring-your-own venue would at least have tables, right? Well, guess again. Even the venue was sorely lacking. I wonder what business will occupy this space when it inevitably goes under? Whatever it is, it will surely be a vast improvement.
google avatar

Chad C.

Yelp
Found this joint to be entertaining and the staff very friendly. BYOB in an intimate setting. They have snacks and soda for purchase as well. We chose the team show which is PC. The audience does play a key role in how the show rolls so if you sense the audience to be a little lame then jump in and spice it up a bit with unusual suggestions. For a tad more than a Cinemark ticket you can get live interactive entertainment. Great for a date night, friends, out of town guests.

Yelp
Just found this comedy club on google as we were looking for something to do after missing a hockey game ! Came here tonight for the second night in a row ! Will definitely laugh out loud !! Highly recommend

Yelp
I had a great time here. Small-venue family comedy done right. Great games by energetic talents. The competition added just the right pinch of intensity. Really fond of glow stick voting - and the drink-popcorn-candy-glowstick purchase option worked well for us. (For the future, I loaded a blue screen and a red screen onto my phone and will just vote with that guy). I love being able to see a quality show without a drive to Deep Ellum. Strong work ComedySportz - keep the laughs comin'. (8 pm 1/6). Really enjoyed Shakespeare, 4 things and was really impressed by Forward-Backward and the end show recap. Looking at taking the classes.....

Yelp
Lots of laughter on the rooftop! The owner and improv team have really made this experience work. Great job showing perseverance and thinking outside the box!

Yelp
I had so much fun at the Comedy Arena! The environment is great and fun. Plus is you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something new this is a great place to try out.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a great time. Staff was very welcoming and hospitable, and the performers were a lot of fun. Everyone did a great job of entertaining the crowd and making them feel like they were part of the show. There were a couple of social groups in the audience (some crossfit friends and also a church group). They were having the most fun out of everybody. So next time we're bringing friends. Or to quote a famous general, "We will be back, but in stronger numbers!"
google avatar

Brianna G.

Yelp
Fun, but our show was very PC. I'm going to attribute it to some other audience members, but everyone else was kind of hoping to ramp it up a little bit. A good time, but not your normal not PC comedy show.
google avatar

Jill H.

Yelp
Clean, funny and high-energy, this troupe has something for everyone! They also teach improvisational comedy and you can hire them for your corporate, holiday, or other function. For the time and location of their next performance, check out www.lockedoutcomedy.com

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of comedy sportz! So glad they opened one in Mckinney. Great location for some good eats and laughs. Keep it up blue team! I mean red team... wait they both rock!

Yelp
We had an absolute blast! Great atmosphere and awesome comedians. Will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
The Arena is a breath of fresh air for downtown McKinney. I adore that there is something entertaining to do for all ages and for a reasonable price! I have been to the club on several occasions and it never disappoints. Be prepared to have some audience participation (or at least volunteer some friends :) and laugh until perhaps you cry. Love this addition to our town!!
google avatar

Diane S.

Yelp
Mostly funny show - performers range from pleasantly entertaining to very very talented (red team at 12/23/17, 8pm show I'm lookin at you). We've been to ComedySportz in numerous locations including Manhattan and Hollywood and it's always kind of dependent on the audience. Great to have this new group in DFW and nice little location but... had to drop a star for the hard sell on red and blue glow sticks. Every other ComedySportz location we've seen urges the audience to shout which performers they like, but this one only allows the audience to "vote" by holding up a glow stick. Not as much fun and a kind of lame.
google avatar

Robin J.

Yelp
Great time at The Comedy Arena! Will definitely go again.
google avatar

Amir R.

Yelp
These guys are without a doubt pros when it comes to comedy. Been attending their shows for some time now and I can't say enough about how down to earth and genuinely funny they are. Their style of comedy is also unique: a match up between 2 teams. Try being funny within a game while competing against others. Not easy-- but FUN! Great for date nights, and family nights.

Brett F.

Yelp
Fantastic and funny shows! All the guys and gals are funny, and quick-witted!!!
google avatar

Gary P.

Yelp
Fun and Funny! Locked Out Comedy puts on a fantastic, interactive improv comedy show. The show is family-friendly and hilarious for all ages. If you've seen the TV Whose Line Is It Anyway, then you know what improv is. The people are friendly and use audience suggestions to play improv games that are live and made up on the spot. They have some very skilled people that make up their comedy team. I've gone to several shows with friends and with family and everyone always has a great time. It is a fun family or group outing where it is hard to find something that appeals to everyone. I prefer to buy my tickets from their website where tickets are only $12 per ticket, which is better than at the door for $15. For a group of 4 that's like getting a free ticket. And the concession prices are super cheap, like $1 for a soda and $1 for candy. So if you buy tickets online and some concessions you see live entertainment cheaper than a movie, where popcorn and coke costs $10 all by itself.
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
Check out Humor Games Friday nights at 10 pm. It is one of the funniest comedy shows I've ever seen. Can't wait to go back again and see one of their other shows.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Came here expecting a night of comedy. I have been to other improv shows in Fort Worth that were excellent. Unfortunately this show was not. I would like to say it was just me, but the entire audience laughed very little. If your looking for a good comedy show, I would recommend elsewhere.

Michael R.

Yelp
I went to the comedy sportz 8 pm show for the second time tonight and had a lot of fun. I brought my 11 yo and 8 yo and they loved it. The 8 pm show is totally family friendly/kid safe. It's kind of like "Who's Line is it Anyway" where they do different improvised scenes and ask for audience suggestions. I'm sure we'll be back again.
google avatar

Renée S.

Yelp
Awesome improve comedy club! All comedians are engaging and entertaining to watch and the atmosphere is intimate and cool. I've been watching these guys for a few years now at various places, and have made the drive up from Dallas on several occasions to go see the shows. I am always made to feel like a part of the show every time I go and it thrills me to no end that they now have a spot to call home! Comedy Sports Arena is DEFINITELY worth visiting again and again and again. It's worth every single star!
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
If you are looking for a place to laugh, learn, and meet other like-minded lovers of comedy, this is the place to go! The adult improv classes that ComedySportz offers teach the fundamentals and are an environment where you are challenged...and have a blast doing so! I definitely recommend taking the classes if you are looking to learn a fantastic skill and seeing the shows every weekend!

Robbin J.

Yelp
So I'm giving this a five star rating because the staff and comedians are fantastic. We are here from GA and MA attending success school for Advocare. We wanted something to do so we googled events in McKinney and this place popped up. They were having an improv evening so we really didn't know what to expect, but I must say it was so good. We had such a great time Friday we came back on Saturday and just be another one once again the staff was fantastic. When we came in Vaughn was super nice explained everything to us we told him we would be back. So we came back only to realize that Vaughn was actually the owner. So, if you're looking for a great night out do dinner and then The Comedy Arena. Oh by the way it's BYOB. Thank you Vaughn and staff for making our visit so awesome. We have already told 10 people about your place. We will be back. That's a promise

Yelp
These folks are the best! Funny and quick on their feet... it's like watching Who's Line Is It Anyway, LIVE! I took my wife to see them for a date night and we couldn't have had more fun. What a great find.

BenJamin M.

Yelp
So glad to find a place to get my funny fix in McKinney. Great location and the nicest people. Took my kids with me to a Sunday show and had a great time. The toddler laughed at all the jokes (ok, he just laughs with everyone else) and the teenager was very uncharacteristicly not teenage like in that he even laughed at the jokes. Clean and inviting location. Drop everything and go. Seriously, just drop what you are doing and go as soon as possible.
