Northside’s late-night mainstay pairs a deep beer list and strong pours with live music and famed burritos. CityBeat’s Burritofest underscores its role as a grassroots arts hub as much as an essential neighborhood bar.

We frequented Comet when visiting my sister. Sunday brunch was absolutely delightful. Staff is friendly. We also went on Monday evenings for tacos and margaritas - just delicious. I miss Comet… can’t find any similar experience where I live.

Google
Always a good vibe to be had at the Comet. The drinks are always great, the food slaps all day every day, and the music and is always electric. The atmosphere at the Comet is untouched and there is always a great time to be had regardless of the night.

I came for Sunday brunch. Service and atmosphere are excellent. I got the biscuits and gravy. In hindsight, I'd have been better off ordering a biscuit and gravy ala carte. The gravy is good but not great. Other items the kitchen sent out looked amazing. I look forward to coming back for an event, and to try other food.

Came in for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed the atmosphere — warm, welcoming, and great service all around. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. While the gravy was decent, it wasn’t quite as flavorful as I’d hoped. In hindsight, I probably would’ve been better off ordering it à la carte. That said, everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I’m definitely planning to come back for an event and to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Plenty of potential here!

COMET in Northside is definitely a hidden gem for brunch. One of the best brunch I have had in Cincinnati. The price is so affordable and the food is top quality. Ordered crepe cake, chicken waffles and Spanish stew, all of them are so good! Extra points for funny and friendly bar tenders and chef!

Google
Great casual spot for tacos, burritos, chips and salsa. A nice selection of canned craft beer as well as some good options on tap. Tuesday is bike night and it’s a decent sized crowd but don’t let that scare you away, it’s a great crowd and a great mix of bikes and people. Think cars and coffee, not Rabbit Hash. We didn’t have any issues with wait times getting drinks at the bar or getting food from the kitchen. Will definitely be back!

Google
The employees are nice but I actually cried real tears after I ate there bc the food was that terrible and it cost so much money. $14 dollars for a bowl of just BOILED chicken, canned beans, rice, and onions. And nothing is seasoned. I did not finish even half of it. Just go to chipotle please😭😭😭

The comet is a nice pub with an eclectic vibe. There's a patio in back with live music on Sat night. We went for the Bomb's Away comedy set. We were met with a warm welcome, they explained where to get food and drinks and where the rest room was. We ordered queso, chips and some drinks and sat out on the patio. The food was good, but I want to try the tacos next time. What a great evening! We'll be back. We smelled the pleasant aroma of a fire, so we explored and saw they were grilling under the deck. The host, Wayne was pretty funny -- loved the algorithm bit. Some of the warm up acts were funny and one of the headliners was really good. The other was...well, Bomb's Away.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place because it's his favorite brunch in the city and it was fun! He was familiar with the setup, where you order food and drinks at the bar then drop off the ticket to the kitchen counter in the other room. Don't forget to close out your tab when you leave! My shrimp and grits were okay but my friend ordered a crepe cake for the table and that was excellent!

Yelp
This place is an eclectic hole in the wall. Do you love a wise variety of beers, a great juke box, different genres of music, delicious burritos the size of your head? Then you will love this place. Be careful the hot sauce on the burritos are seriously hot! They don't mess around. I usually go on Sunday nights fir bluegrass night and it is always packed make sure you get there early to see the comet bluegrass all-stars. Pro-tip always tip the kitchen to get your burrito a little quicker than others. Ps they also have quite the delicious brunch on sat and Sunday's. You should def go check it out! Net Fun 5 stars Hole in the wallness 5 stars Food 5 stars Cleanliness 3.5 stars Service 4 stars Total 5 stars. Get there!

Yelp
I've lived on the Westside for so many years. I hung out in College Hill in the late 80s. I've been through Northside a million times, yet this was my first visit to The Comet. My son invited me, and he has a real history with The Comet. The food was awesome. The crepe cake was like nothing I've had before. I couldn't figure out what it would taste like by the description, but it was highly recommended by several patrons. It was not overly sweet. The fruit , sauce, and pistachio were perfect compliments, in my opinion. The service was fine. I see other reviews where people are complaining. It is a bar, small staff doing what they do. It's a laid-back vibe. The humans who are doing their best can get overwhelmed. It's not a 5 star James Beard joint. It is a neighborhood bar, serving a good brunch.

Yelp
We were looking for some late night vegan eats after the Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings concert. We were craving a Comet burrito and decided to swing on by. We had about 20 mins until the kitchen closed so I grabbed a yummy winter ale and we destroyed those burritos. Also recommend the salsa platter if you want to fill up on chips and try everything from delicious to pretty hot. Always love the vibe of this place. Great Sunday brunch and amazing people. Always a favorite spot especially when there's live music.

Yelp
We went last night for a comedy show- it was so fun! Loved the charm of a local neighborhood bar, but with surprising good burritos. We had the jerk tofu and it was delicious. Service was good and delivery of food was prompt.

Yelp
Im writing this review because this place is great and I want them to do better. Been going here for almost a decade. In the last two years things have gone downhill (just food) EVERY time I order a burrito here theses days the order is wrong. Missing items such as lettuce, onions, cheese. Even though they were ordered. I come here less and less due to this issue. We keep coming back because we have so much love for such a great part of our community. Something has to change. great service and drink selection and amazing local music to make up for the absurdity that is the kitchen.

Yelp
Drank some tequila in a tiny glass and smashed on some tacos and nachos as a cool band played thursday night. Ended up kissing this hot vegetarian right outside the venue. Tacos 5/5. The band 5/5. Beer selection 5/5. Nachos 3/5. Veggie friendly 5/5. The vibe 5/5. And a bonus pool table.

Yelp
A cincinnati icon. This place always has a good brunch with friendly service, some yummy choices including vegetarian options, and lots of great beer to try. It's quite unlike anywhere else. The best jukebox.

Yelp
What a great, friendly little place. Good food. Friendly staff. Awesome vibe. Professional level burritos seal the deal for me. I always try to check out the funky vintage store next door-perfect 70's pink polyester suit displayed today.

Yelp
A fun place to listen to local and visiting comics! Enjoyed a reasonably priced drink and a fun space.

Yelp
A guide to eating at The Comet: Step One: Order at the bar. Step Two: Pay at the bar. They will give you a ticket. Step Three: Take your ticket to the food window. Step Four: Wait for the delicious food to arrive at your table. We came during their brunch menu and I ordered the carnitas tacos (though next time I'm going to have to try that Elote! The service seemed friendly enough and we were able to snag a table. The food was pretty decent, though I don't think I would order what I did again. The watermelon salad that it came with was interesting too! It had really great flavor, and the cilantro really made the dish. I also tasted the biscuits and gravy. The peppery gravy was truly delicious. If I was feeling like more of a lush, I definitely would have ordered it. One small frustration with the business model is asking for a tip a non full service restaurant. I don't mind busing my own table/etc., but I think that's something they should consider (I know it's different too if you're tipping for a mixed drink/bar service too). I definitely want to come back on bluegrass night to have that experience. All in all, this is a pretty cool dive-y spot with a cult following. I'll be back to check it out again.

Yelp
The tacos are an insult to Mexican food. I am not Mexican, but I have loved Mexican food for years and have lived in California and Chicago for several years, two places that have lots of real Mexican food on offer. These are tacos for people who are afraid of going to an actual Mexican restaurant. The bar is fine. The beer selection is good. I've heard good music there (no, I'm not talking about the bluegrass. Usually, when I hear that stuff, I'm worried that someone has a rope and I'm probably nervous for my safety.) It's just that the tacos are so offensively bad. It's even more appalling when there are better ones just up the road.
google avatar

Yelp
They have AMAZING tacos. The chicken and the beef are crazy good, and if you go during their happy hour they're only $2! Their queso is also really good! They had a really big beer selection! Their ordering system is a little odd to me as everything is ordered at the bar, you then take your ticket to a window and are given a number (if they're slow they don't give you a number). Parking is on the street but is not too hard to find nearby!

Yelp
A sweet little spot with good vibes, good food and great prices. Open a little later than some places, music and eclectic mix of patrons

Yelp
This is one of those places I've heard everyone talk about but haven't gone in the 10+ years I've lived in Cincinnati. I finally crossed off an iconic Cincy location off my to do list! The first thoughts we had as we headed in with a group of about 8 on a Sunday was "I'm eating Mexican, in a dice bar, listening to Blue Grass." And that kinda sums up the eclecticness of the place and the neighborhood! It's dark which makes it look dingy, but I love me a good dive lookin place. This is perfect. There's not a ton of seating, but we did snag the nice round booth, unfortunately the table is a little too small for the booth. You place your order at the bar. They have a few taps and a generous supply of liquor. Check their board for both food and drink specials. There's also about 3 refrigerator cases with canned and bottled beer you can purchase. (Fun fact, Little Kings is normally 2 for $5.) The food is sort of build your own ala carte. You can any meat/tofu, and veggies to orders. Hubby and I got the quesadillas and an order of nachos with queso. And there was plenty of food! The entrees normally.come with chips and your choice of salsa. The mild was definitely flavorful! The medium lacked the flavor but had a slight bit of heat, but not overpowering. The food was delicious and was very generous portions for what you paid for. The live band wasn't overly loud for the smallish space either. They also have a nice patio out back with about 6-8 tables as well if you like dining outside. I wished I had stumbled upon this place sooner! Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
The Comet has an amazing beer selection and they always have great shows going on. Two main reasons why most people go to The Comet. The third reason is that they have the most badass burritos and quesadillas. Their burritos are the best in Cincinnati. They are gigantic and you get a ton of food for what you pay. Not only do you get a burrito packed to the point of it possibly exploding, you get really great tortilla chips with it. I always get a side of amazing guacamole to eat with the chips. I love the atmosphere of The Comet. We usually go earlier in the day during the week to grab dinner here. Around five or six. It's usually not packed at all. Sometimes we're the only people sitting in the dining area. The main reason we go around this time is so we avoid a band playing. It's really loud and you can't hear yourself think when a band is playing. Great for when you are there seeing a show, not so great when you just want to sit and eat some food and talk to friends. If you are coming here to order food, make sure you go to the bar to order your food and look at a menu. After you order your food the bartender will give you a piece of paper to take into the dinning area and take it back to the kitchen window where the cook will trade you the piece of paper for a table marker and will bring your food out for you when you are done. People seemed to be confused by this in other reviews. They also have an amazing jukebox I would check out. Awesome song selection and albums to pick from. I have yet to make it out to Comet to try their brunch that everyone raves about, but I'm defiantly going to make it happen sometime.

Yelp
We tried this place on a Tuesday night around 7p. We found a place to park across the street with no problem. Upon entering and not being greater, we realized that we could seat ourselves. But just before sitting down we happened to notice a sign saying to place your order at the bar. When I approached the bar, the bar tender immediately asked me what I would like. This gave me the impression that most people are regulars who don't need to see a menu. But it was my first time. I proceeded to order Rice and Beans (basically, it's a burrito bowl). I let her know up front that I had a very annoying request - I wanted the rice and beans in one bowl and everything else in a separate bowl. She totally understood and then asked me what all we wanted in our bowl. I took her suggestion and tried the mixed beans (pinto and black) and the chicken (instead of beef). I also ordered guac, salsa, onions, shredded cheese, sour cream and lettuce. The annoying thing about this? The guac, salsa, cheese, sour cream and meat are all extra and you are charged separately. Who on earth would order a burrito and not want this things?? I wish they'd just charge the rate they want and make it flat. Paying for "extras" makes me feel like they're nickel and dime-ing. After placing our order, she asked if we'd like to open a tab or pay immediately. We left a card with her to open a tab. Then she explained that we'd need to walk our order receipt to the kitchen window which was in the next room. We ended up sitting in the second room because it was entirely empty. And not having any high chairs, I wanted my thirteen month old to be able to exist and not annoy fellow customers. (The first room had a few tables that were full and the patio had a set of steep stairs leading down the hill). There was another family with kids who were playing pool, so this place obviously attracts all ages. Our food probably took about fifteen minutes to come out. And when it did, we saw that they actually put EVERYTHING "on the side". Lol. One bowl for every topping. We each made our own bowls with what we wanted. Looking back, I wouldn't bother getting the onion because they're raw. The chicken is pulled and seasoned, but not very flavorful or juicy. But the salsa of the month was good (roasted garlic salsa). The guac probably isn't made in house and is meh. But I really appreciated the large portion of sour cream. In fact, the whole thing was a large portion and super share-able. So that's nice! Once you're done you pick up after yourself. There's a place for your empty trays and glasses right next to the kitchen window. I wasn't really blown away by my experience here. But I've heard such great things about they're brunch? Maybe I'd try it some weekend if I could get there without the kiddo.

Yelp
This review is purely on their brunch because I LOVE a good brunch I mean look at this crepe cake. It was amazing!!! Good definitely sells out later in the day. Had a guy come up and say they sold out just about a hour after I ordered. They are still a full bar so there's options of mimosas, blood Mary's, etc, all the brunch drink goodness. You order at the bar and take your ticket to the kitchen so if you want a sit down restaurant that serves you, look elsewhere. If you've ever been to the comet, you know parking is rough. There's limited places to park which is why I don't go to the comet very often. Even the side streets are pretty packed. It's a gem of a place though, great atmosphere whether for brunch or in the evening for a show. I have yet to try their queso which I've heard is killer. I'll be back comet!

Yelp
I took a vegan date here because she had heard good things about their tacos, and wanted to give them a shot. I'm always on board for a good burrito, and felt like this location offered something to appease both of us, and a good $2 beer special. All the beer specials were basic cheap domestics in cans, but that's no big surprise. The food does actually Weiwei, and as dumb as that sounds to go to a little dive bar to hope for a good meal reviews have said that I should expect that here I don't really know what was wrong with those reviews though. What are you up getting was a giant burrito full of decent food, none of it was really that great. And the accompanying chips that were offered pretty stale and just tasted like old bed to chips as for the real reason we went in the first place, I date thought the tofu had a decent spice to it, but needed a lot more seasoning, and probably should've been pressed longer to get the fluid out . So it was okay. The staff were nice, and it was comfortable enough, and I think they have live music most evenings, so might give them another shot... Just don't really anticipate that happening anytime soon
google avatar

Yelp
I mean, cheap gigantic delicious spicy fresh and delicious burritos and punk rock? More of both please.

Yelp
Cool place. We always go on Sunday nights for the bluegrass. Decent craft beer selection and bar. Great burritos! You won't leave hungry. Seating is limited so get there early. Overall a great experience. Highly recommend for a Sunday night or any night out.

Yelp
The Comet has been a mainstay in Cincinnati and my life for as long as I can remember. It's a bar, concert venue, gallery of sorts, and restaurant. This is the first time I've had something other than drinks or a burrito. The experience falls into the "where have you been all my life" category. All of the dishes were delightful... especially the dessert. That was amazing. Depending on when you go, the only potential caveat is the noise and that other patrons tend to be younger and hipsters. This may be a pro or con, depending on your perspective. There are often people of all ages and walks of life there, which I appreciate. Overall, my experiences at the Comet have been positive. I love it.

Yelp
The food is 4 stars but the service is 3. It had snowed the night before so I called to see if they were open. It was an after thought because we were pulling up, but my husband was concerned they were closed. The lady at the bar answers the phone. I say hello, I was just calling.. in mid sentence she cuts me off and says yes, were open with an annoyed attitude. I was like hmm, ok. I said thank you and hung up. When you walk in the way they have you place your orders is weird. There is not really a server, you place your order at the bar, get a ticket and take it to a window on the other side of the restaurant. Then you go sit down and then someone brings you your food. The line was slightly long. It was my first time here and there were no directions to tell you what to do, so after a few minutes I asked the people in front of me who told me what to do. You seat yourself and order at the bar. I finally get to the counter and it's the rude lady. I was nice to her and she was somewhat decent. However I didn't tip her because she was rude and she didnt realize I was the girl who called and she cut me off mid sentence. I order my food and take the ticket to the window and realize I forgot to order my crepe cake. I go back to the front and tell the lady (I posted a picture of her) I forgot my cake. Yallll..... she literally rolled her eyes, turns to the system to enter my order and then says.."I need your signature and this time a total" and circles the tip and total lines. Mind you I gave a total for my first ticket I just didn't tip her because she was rude and had a bad attitude. After this she definitely didn't get a tip the second time around. However, the men working the kitchen (where you drop your order ticket off) were nice. By this time I was already aggregated and annoyed, but I still managed to be nice because they didn't do anything. Also, I'm not sure why she was tripping over a tip when she had a bad attitude because not one person ever came to help us after our food was delivered. I saw one guy randomly walking around but he didn't seem to really be helping anyone. There wasn't any service after the food was brought to the table so what was anybody doing for a tip? I don't mind tipping at all but once you get an attitude or act unpleasant, you can hang it up with me! A tip is a reward or way to acknowledge the person giving you good service to say thanks and is not in any way an obligation. For brunch we ordered the Hot Mess, Buttermilk Biscuits & Gravy, and Crepe Cake. Their food was really good. All of the dishes were good and seasoned well. Their hash browns that come with the biscuits & gravy were very very good. Seasoned perfect and cooked well! The Hot Mess was different but I liked it. It consisted of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, jack cheese, potatoes, sour cream, scallions, and sriracha hot sauce. It was very tasty! The biscuits & gravy were also yummy! The biscuits had a slightly crispy edge with a crumbly tender middle. The Gravy was seasoned well and added the cherry on top! The 20 layer Crepe Cake was amazing! It was orange crepes, pastry cream, toffee sauce, lemon cream, nuts and strawberries. It was so good! The flavors went together well and the crepes were perfect! If you like sweet brunch dishes this is definitely for you. We enjoyed this! I also tried their homemade ginger ale. It wasn't good. It tasted like ginger but had a weird taste. It started out ok when you first sip it and then the after taste flat lined. It was a quick pop of fizz and then whomp, whomp, whomp. It also tasted weak or flat after the initial burst of ginger taste when you first sip it. Overall, the food here is amazing but the service and people skills suck!

Yelp
Very peaceful bar for a weekday. Calm 50s, 60s, and folk melodies play on the radio as the dim lights and dingy tables set the ambiance. Two backlit glass front coolers full of craft beer allow for choices that are welcome in such a place. The bartender and patrons are grungy yet somehow beautiful. I see they have a food menus, but that experiment must wait for a future visit, and oh I will be back.

Yelp
Local bar with lots of room. Had brunch. Hot mess. Very good grapefruit Brûlée. Décor is kitch and hipster inspired

Jacob B.

Yelp
Looked in the kitchen and the cook had us hand in his pants.. skinny white dude. Needless to say I kept an eye and he was handling food. I told him I don't want our chips and salsa for obvious reasons and he hid from us. DONT GO HERE for any food. First yell review. Great bartender though

Yelp
Delicious Mexican food can be found in this dive bar but Sunday brunch? Yes! The Eggs Benedict is the best I've ever had. I also tasted my fiance's dish called "hot mess" & it was great! I didn't care for the pickled vegetables on the pork carnitas tacos but the steak tacos I had during Happy Hour (M-F 4-7) were amazing! Don't leave the brunch w/o a slice of the 20 layer crepe cake - it was to die for!

Yelp
We're regulars at the Comet. Here's the deal: you have to know the rules: - Order food at the counter and take the ticket back to the kitchen yourself. No one will explain this or take pity on you for not knowing. - Sunday nights are the Bluegrass Comet Allstars. The wait for food is longer; you're competing with a cult following. - Sunday brunch - awesome... but expect lots of Northside "outsiders." They're not sure how to order, sit, function, etc... also, the Comet always has a unique weekly brunch entree - sometimes it's awesome- and sometimes - it just sucks... read the menu and risk it... if you dare. - weekend nights... omg... the live music can be eclectic and interesting or literally the worst bullshit you've ever heard. Check that out before you plan a whole evening there. We love the Comet. Prep for not-so-friendly bartenders and a set of odd behavioral expectations. Be brave. You might not regret it.

Yelp
The Comet is pretty cool. We came here looking for a good brunch spot and were not let down. The Comet is very unique located in the Northside and serves many purposes. Walk in and order your food and drinks from behind the bar. There is bar seating and booths on the left half of the bar. This is divided by a wall that has a few window cutouts that keep the spaces together and separate at the same time. The right half of the bar/restaurant has unique seating arrangements, booths, small tables, etc. This is the side that has a little kitchen window. Seat yourself and grab a cup and water from the jug in the front if you so choose. I had the hot mess. This was a plate full of eggs and other breakfast mixtures ( I don't know how else to describe it). It was good. I also had a bloody mary and a mimosa which were satisfying. This may be considered a hipster area or a rougher area, but don't let that deter you from trying out something different.
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
So, if the Comet were some snooty hipster bar, I would not belong. Thankfully, it is not a snooty hipster bar. The Comet is a hipster dive bar with wonderful late night tex mex eats & a kickass beer selection. My days to go to the Comet are Mondays and Tuesdays when they're playing live music and Paul the bartender is working, simply because Paul is cool AF. Their beer selection is on point; if you want a Bud or a Miller, I wouldn't recommend coming here. But if you enjoy local crafts and seasonals from around the nation, this is the place for you. My complaint about most bars is that they don't offer food - period. Do you know what drunk me wants more than anything? FOOD. And White Castle mozzarella sticks can only hold a drunk girl over for so long. The Comet understands that, and serves quesadillas, nachos, tacos, and they have a salsa of the month. December's roasted garlic salsa = on point. Their brunch is amazing too, and the coffee and mimosas are free flowing. My only gripe is that they don't offer goetta anywhere on the brunch menu. I do enjoy the goetta. This place is dark, btw. If you can't handle barely being able to see or if you're just plain afraid of it, this is probably not the place for you. But it is the place for me, and I'll hope to see Monday or Tuesday.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
The Comet is a pretty cool place. I went there on a random Tuesday and the food was really good. I got a lemonade which was home made, man oh man was that good. Then the food came and it was basic tacos/nachos, type food. They make their own salsa which is pretty cool. The nachos I got were a huge portion and I could not eat all of them. The friends I went with had quesadillas and queso. They all liked the different food that they got. This place seems very artsy. From the friends who live in town, I learned that this location is often a venue for musicians. They also have art on the walls. The building itself is dark has a hole-in-the-wall feel. If I'm ever in Cincinnati again, I would eat here if I was in a pinch, but it's no non-negotiable.

Avery B.

Yelp
I usually order from the comet when I've had a long night and just want something to settle the stomach. They always deliver. The pizzas is very good and the boneless wings are sizable. They come in a variety of sauces.

Yelp
Walk in and first impression was intimidating. We got there right after the opened so it was slow, and is just your regular dive. What is great about it are their specials and their north side pride. They have two dollar beers all the time and three dollar 16 oz bell's as well. Susie made sure we knew how their restaurant worked and directed us to the kitchen window after ordering just $1.50 tacos!! We also tried their salsa sampler and that is great if you are with a group. A ton of chips!!! Susie told us a little about the comet and informed us that they are the place to be for brunch. She always told us a little about the owner who opened the bar at just 20 years old! He lives right up the street and often pops in the see how this are running and also to get to know his customers. I left invited to come back while leaving and they truly appreciated our business.

Yelp
**This review is for the brunch only** First off, it you are not a local or a regular, no one points you in the right direction here, so here's a tip: order food at the bar then bring your ticket to the kitchen window in the other room for a number. The Comet is a staple dive bar in Cincinnati, and part of Northsides bar district. There is nothing fancy here. What you see is what you get. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and the eggs benedict. The biscuits and gravy actually had maple in it, which I should have noticed before I ordered because I was not a huge fan of the savory and sweetness together. The biscuits were giant and I would definitely splitting this dish. The bf got the eggs benedict which was great. I had a bite and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection, the sauce was also perfect, great flavor. We would order this again. Each dish also comes with a side of potatoes. These seem like they are in a giant bin somewhere in the back and they throw them in a skillet for warmth. Ours were stale, and cold. Not very appealing, but our table agreed that this would be the perfect hangover brunch spot. Not the best brunch I've ever had, but worth checking out.

Yelp
I come here for the bluegrass on Sunday nights, and it's always a great time! Expansive and unique drink selection, and delicious burritos, quesadillas, nachos, etc!! They have an amazing brunch on Sunday mornings, too. And, there's various live music here almost every night!

Yelp
Best Feature: Great drink selection + VERY unique! Good food, too! Worst Feature: Live music can be a bit overwhelming. I had never even heard of The Comet until I went there with my boyfriend many months ago. We've stopped in several times and each time I have a great time! The first thing I discovered that I loved about it was the drink selection - what a great variety! A lot of common and also unusual beers to choose from. I love the interior - very cozy and intimate with interesting decor. They have live music from time to time and a jukebox you can always choose music from - the live music has occasionally been a bit too loud for my taste when I am trying to have conversation, but I LOVE the ambiance and the option to have real bands and musicians play! The food is also good - I had never tried anything until my boyfriend highly recommended the burrito. Dear god - a packed burrito that is quite delicious! I absolutely enjoyed very bite and will gladly order it again! I love this place - it's a bit of a drive from our current location but it is totally worth it!! :-) Lot of great times and great food/drink!

Yelp
The Comet is a Northside tradition. Catering to hipsters, beer nerds, music-lovers, vegetarians and everyone in between. You'll find young and old at any time of the day. Major drawls: awesome jukebox, giant burritos, mile-high nachos and GREAT beers on tap and in their cooler (admire, but don't self-seve). The most distinguishing factor of the Comet is the fact that everyone lines up to order from the corner of the bar, so make sure you queue up so you look like a regular. Favorite times to come: every Sunday for the Comet Bluegrass AllStars; a rag-tag group of men and an awesome woman who make some fabulous music!! The second Saturday of every month you can find reggae in the charming basement that feels like any old basement that has been decorated with Christmas lights to feel more festive. The music is piped out of two turn tables from two real groovy folks who dance as they look thru their many boxes of records.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best burritos in Cincinnati. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. If you like it spicy, they have one of the spiciest salsas, rich with flavor. I highly suggest ordering a side of guac to accompany the perfectly salted chips that come with your burrito. I prefer to come in the afternoons when the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Later in the evening can become loud and and hectic. If you've never eaten here before, you need to go to the bar to order your food and then take your ticket back to the kitchen window.

Yelp
My friends and I had the queso which was really good and had a nice kick to it. I ordered a chicken burrito with the hot salsa. The salsa is definitely hot and I really enjoy all that is spicy. My friend had the happy hour tacos for $2 each! You can't beat that price. She ordered beef and protein of the month (mushroom chorizo). The protein of the month was "eh". My other friend got a chicken burrito like me, but hers was a little soggy, which I assume is because she got salsa in her burrito while I asked for mine on the side. Overall, the food was great and the ambience was casual/divey.

Yelp
One of my favorite bars/burrito joints in the city. Casual atmosphere with an extensive beer selection and absolutely fabulous burritos (which, as mentioned, are the size of your head). Unlike other bars where ordering can be a grueling exercise in trying to get the bartender's attention, at the Comet customers simply queue up at the end of the bar to order their food and drinks. Bands play here almost nightly and it can get kinda loud as control of the sound seems to be left up to the band.

Yelp
We came here for #Sundaybrunchday to check it out as we are always looking for new & local places to try...especially if they serve alcohol for a boozy brunch. Be prepared when you come here not to sit and wait for someone to come to your table. The process is that you come in and go to the bar. The menu is above the bar which is also where you order your food with your drinks. They will give you a ticket to take to the kitchen window where they will trade it for number for your table so that they can find you when your food is ready. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with side of over easy eggs - he said they were OK, but that the eggs were well done. He would have sent them back, but he was pretty hungry. Biscuits were fluffy and also came with a side of potatoes. I ordered the hot mess which was potatoes (lots of them), eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheese. It was pretty good, but lots of potatoes that kept me from tasting all the other goodies that were included. I also ordered a Mimosa (duh, of course) and it was quite delicious and served not in a normal champagne flute - so good that I had another :)

Yelp
This place is always a good time. We have been coming here for over 15years and it has always delivered! We miss Bones as the cook, he was amazing. The cooks now are keeping up the legacy and putting out great food and unique salsa and combinations. The beer fridge used to be one of the few places to get craft beers in the city. It still has a good selection but now has local craft beers as well. This place is good for everyone. I bring my 3 kids now and we still enjoy it as much if not more than I did coming here solo!

Yelp
Great beer selection. Wait, let me correct myself --- GREAT beer selection!!!! I ordered the jerked tofu burrito and it was to die for. The flavors were great and it was so well-constructed, unlike the fast-food versions at Qdoba or Chipotle. I ate until I couldn't any more (which was about 2/3 of the burrito) and had a pint of beer following it. Talk about satisfying! A few games of pool following it concluded the night perfectly. I'd recommend this to anybody coming to the Cincinnati area, even if the drive there is a little creepy at night.

Yelp
Brunch at The Comet is outstanding. When I've been there, each plate of freshly-prepared food is $9 or less. Yes, the wait is substantial (we waited over an hour for our food), but my God, is it ever worth it. Open a tab at the bar, grab some Mimosas, and enjoy the eclectic playlist spun by the resident DJ while you wait. And meet your friends here...good company makes the food even better. Seating is FCFS, so don't be surprised if you have to split a party (alleviate this by getting here early). For this review, I had the Buttermilk Biscuits & Black Pepper Gravy and the Vanilla Peach Bread Pudding. Both came with home fries, and were incredibly, incredibly delicious. The biscuits are thick and moist, and the fresh gravy (no separation) is infused with maple syrup. The bread pudding is moist, as well, but not mushy, and the peach drizzle is very sweet, perfectly complementing it. Parking is a bit tricky, so get there well before it opens at 11 am on Sundays.

Yelp
This review is for brunch only. Went there last Sunday for brunch. The reviews are right, you have to get there within 10 minutes of opening or the wait is forever! Luckily we got there just as it started filling up and didn't have to wait in line at all. I had the eggs Benedict and a screwdriver. Note: make sure to stir your drink because I didn't and it tasted like OJ for the first half and then BOY was it strong. The benny was amazing! It came with a massive side of potatoes that made the meal highlight tiny in comparison. My bf order the crepe cake and holy smokes, I can see why this is a standard on their brunch menu. If they removed I can imagine them having a riot on their hands. My mom had the hot mess which honestly was probably the most disappointing item we ordered. She had it without the siracha so it was bit dry until we managed to snag a side of salsa, even still it was not unique and easily replicated at home- a factor that reduces the draw of going out for brunch.. at least for me. Regardless, it was amazing and I will be back. Love the ever changing menu and for that reason (and amazing crepe cake/eggs benny) I will be back!

Yelp
One of my favorite places in town, you can't go wrong with their beer, burritos and best jukebox in town

Yelp
Sunday night is bluegrass night! Caught the house band playing bluegrass just last night. The band typically plays two sets which include some country classics and some not-so country classics. I happened to catch a Bob Marley tune as well as some John Denver. If you need to get your banjo and fiddle levels up, Sunday night at the Comet is the place to be. This place can fill up in a hurry so get there well ahead of the performance time. Last night was set for 7:30. My date and I arrived a half hour early only to find that every booth, stool, and seat were occupied. We were lucky enough that the folks that frequent The Comet are some of the best on the planet. A couple had a big booth in the quieter bar area and offered up the unused half, so we made some new friends. The bar area is a great place to play some pool and have some casual banter while the band is playing. The Comet is a great place for making friends, largely because of the seating situation. Later in the night we decided to move into the significantly louder performance space (don't expect to carry on a lot of conversations here). A couple of elderly gentlemen let us take the spare two seats at their table, so again we made new friends. One gentlemen spouted off request after request for the band and they kindly obliged even though many of the suggestions were not in the bluegrass genre. We watched as the house band performed every one of them with their own unique style. Excellent entertainment, particularly for a Sunday night! The Comet has a great selection of craft bottles and the cost was very reasonable. This place does have a bit of a dive-y quality, particularly if you are using the restrooms. Be warned, the bar area restrooms do not have proper locks and are consequently a great place to get caught with your pants down.

Yelp
I have been here more than a few times as my old house in Northside was right down the street and within perfect walking distance. One of my favorite drinks is made here called the Irish Ass, amazing trust me. The Comet also has one of the best selections of bottled beers and beers period with great prices. The food has always been very good especially the burritos.

Yelp
We came to the Comet on Sunday for brunch! We tried several things. The biscuit and gravy with potatoes. We really liked the biscuit and gravy and I'm from West Virginia so gravy's got to be good LOL there just wasn't enough gravy to eat both biscuits. Bummer! The potatoes were good with a Tex-Mex kind of flavor. We got the hot mess. No complaints there! We also got the Monte Cristo that was ham and cheese stuffed French toast with a strawberry dipping sauce. It was OK. The mimosas were excellent! Probably the best I've ever had. The service was amazing! Everyone was friendly warm and welcoming!! Sidenote... Do not call Dave the owner sir! He finds it offensive. i'm a southern girl... So if you're working and I'm not your ma'am or sir out of respect. All in all it was a great experience and will definitely be back! I'll leave my manners at home though. Ha ha
