The Commodore

The commodore is a cool spot and oozes speakeasy. From it’s secret entrance to it’s dim litigating, great addition to Fountain Square! The old fashion was strong and flavorful, nice citrus mix. The food was great, strongly recommend the curly fries. The bar tenders were great, would definitely recommend for a nice date night.

Commodore is one of those “secret” gems that never disappoints. The dim lighting and rotating themes always make for a fun and immersive experience. On my last visit, the spooky theme was in full effect, complete with smoky vapor swirling around, and the drinks and ambience matched the vibe perfectly. Tyler, along with all the bartenders, is a true master of the trade. They consistently deliver exceptional cocktails with precision and creativity. After years of coming here, I can confidently say I’ve never had a bad experience. Whether you’re in the mood for something classic or experimental, Commodore is always a prime spot to indulge in a great night out.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Commodore, and I must say, it is hands down the best speakeasy I've ever been to. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped back in time to the days of Prohibition. One of the things that stood out to me was the amazing selection of cocktails. The Old Fashioned and White Russian were both exceptional, perfectly crafted with just the right amount of ingredients to create a rich, full-bodied taste. I highly recommend trying both if you get the chance. Another unique feature of The Commodore is its hidden entryway. It adds an air of mystery and excitement to the experience, and makes it all the more special. Once you find the entrance, you'll be transported to a whole new world, one where the rules of society are a little looser and anything seems possible. I should also note that if you want to enjoy The Commodore, it's best to get there before 8 pm. After that, the crowds start to pour in and it can get quite busy. But trust me, it's worth the effort to make it there early. Overall, The Commodore is a true gem of a speakeasy. From the delicious drinks to the hidden entrance, it has everything you could want in a bar. If you're a fan of classic cocktails and a unique, vintage atmosphere, then The Commodore is definitely the place for you.

This a super ducked off chill spot. I no longer consume alcohol and the bartender was very kind and patient offering different mock tails. The DJ there was lit. This is a great spot to take a date or catch a vibe on a solo mission.

Justin was our bar tender, drinks were great he was funny and nice (everyone was nice). We don’t frequent around fountain square but me and my bestie have claimed this as our new favorite spot! Thanks Justin! See ya again

Found this bar after a show at Hi-Fi, it was fantastic! The bar tender was awesome as was the other clientele.

Cool speakeasy style spot. There was a jazz band when we went which was a nice touch. Nothing life changing but cocktails were decent. I was a little disappointed to see how small their menu was- I’m aware they have a full bar, but there was only around 5 house cocktails and the riff cocktails weren’t very exciting. Pricing is expensive for the experience you get, and charging $14 for tater tots with ketchup is embarrassing. There was one bartender for the entire spot, she kept up well with the cocktails but more staff would be desirable. Service is essentially nonexistent and there wasn’t an ounce of friendliness. I tipped 20% but I didn’t want to.

The best cocktail bar in all of Indianapolis. I started coming here when only those who knew someone knew about that place. Now it’s pretty well know to be the best. The interior has a relaxed but upbeat mood to it and the bartenders are second to none at their craft. I doubt you’ll find a better drink anywhere in Indiana! If you don’t see what you like on the menu, just let them know what you’re into and they will give you the best they have!
