This cute, bright little cafe seemed like a good choice for lunch so I stopped in and ordered a few sandwiches. Evidently they were out of the usual brioche, so rosemary focaccia was the alternative. (I somehow refrained from spitting in the man's face, most likely because he was very nice, and because I'm a big rosemary focaccia fan.)
I couldn't decide between the pork and the chicken, so I got both. After paying, I sat down to wait and watched as one guy on his laptop was given a slice of lemon glaze cake on the house. Where is my slice of lemon glaze cake? I tipped you and this is how you repay me? Is it because his shirt has buttons on it? That's racist.
But really, I'm betting he's a regular, and that's nice of The Commons.
My sandwiches were solid. Shockingly, I actually preferred the chicken. The pulled pork didn't have as much pulled pork as one might've hoped on a $10 sandwich (or maybe I just really love pork, and always want more). The habanero mayo didn't really come through, but I did enjoy the pickled vegetables. To be fair, the chicken actually did have pork on it as well; the bacon and egg combo makes everything better, especially when combined with a garlic vinaigrette.
I think I'd do it again if I found myself on 7th, and maybe if I do it often enough I'll finally get a slice of cake.
