The Commons

I used the Commons for a while and it was a great experience. The price, the location, the team managing the space, overall mood and vibe of the place is nice. They do community events throughout the month and those are fun!! I highly recommend Commons.

Had a coworking membership here for about 2 months. The community managers, Keira and Savannah, were warm, helpful, and efficient from Day 1 when checking out the space. The janitorial staff were also kind and kept the space nice and tidy. Favorite thing about the membership I opted for is that I had 24/7 access. The space itself features two different floors, each offering an open coworking space along with a few private phone booths to take calls. Other highlights: coffee, water, tea, cereal, and light snacks are also included. There's also 4 monthly community events offered as well. Nothing but good things to say. Would definitely be back if in the area again.

Great, clean space with lovely staff. Lovely clean space with easy to use drop-in desks. If you're looking for a space to do some work or have a short meeting this is it. It was pretty quiet - not library quiet but very manageable. The staff (Savannah specifically) was very helpful. Coffee, tea and snacks available.

I cannot say enough great things about The Commons Co-working space on the Upper East Side. From the moment I joined, the experience was exceptional. Keira and Savannah are always so kind, courteous, friendly, and professional. They go above and beyond to create a warm, welcoming, and well-run environment. The Commons strikes the perfect balance of feeling peaceful while still being busy and bustling, giving you just the right energy to stay focused and productive. There’s a real sense of momentum and motivation in the air that makes it easy to get into a good workflow. The space is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of outlets and a variety of seating options to suit different working styles. I didn’t use the private meeting rooms, but I had only positive experiences with the other members — everyone is friendly, quiet, and respectful, really honoring the unspoken rules of shared workspaces. I chose the unlimited access membership, and it was absolutely worth it — though honestly, the 4th floor alone is incredible. There’s also a wonderful sense of community. They host regular networking events, and both activity and food centered events as well, giving you plenty of opportunities to connect with others who work from there. If you're looking for a professional, inspiring, and energizing co-working space on the UES, I can’t recommend The Commons highly enough!

I visit NYC on holidays to visit family and this week was my first time at The Commons. Since I am a 100% remote worker I am part of a co-working space in Portland that is super awesome and the Commons is like a mini version of Kiln (in Portland). I loved it. The set-up was very similar to what I'm used to. They have a cafe part where you can get free good-quality coffee, they served snacks (fresh pies in my case), they have phone rooms, skylights which provides awesome lighting, big windows with a pleasant view of the city, and very nice and friendly staff Price was decent and lower than I expected. I will definitely come back when I visit the UES.

I have worked at a few different co working spaces and this space is certainly my top ranked. - It’s clean. Always clean and tidy. - It’s bright. Lovely skylights and even in full days there is lots of natural light for a peaceful and pleasant working environment. - Clean toilets. Never had a problem. - FLAWLESS WiFi. Nuff said. - Open 24 hours a day with flawless electronic locks on the building door and office door. - Good coffee. Can’t complain about the coffee. I like my coffee strong so it suits me! - Power and USB sock ya built into all desks. Overall I love this space to work in and its conveniently located on top of 4/5/6 a way stop and close to a supermarket for snacks.

Lovely workspace, with helpful staff and everything you need for a decent day at work. However, there are a few things to take note of: • Very rigid rules in terms of where and when you’re allowed to work there: o If you’re on their Day Passes, you can only use the fourth floor, which is a nice space, however it’s open plan so gets a little loud during the day, and phonebooth space is limited. Meeting rooms are available for reservation; however, these are quite expensive. o If you’re on their PT Membership Plan, you can use the fifth floor which is much better in terms of noise levels and comfort, however the days you’re allowed there are locked down to the seven days you get with the membership, you’re not allowed to use this floor if you have paid for a PT membership but used the inclusive visits and want to pay for day passes. I found this a little disappointing. o Little to no flexibility about when you start/end work unless you’re on one their unlimited plans. • You cannot leave items there overnight, which can also be a little difficult if you have plans after work and don’t want to lug your laptop, gym clothes or (whatever else) around with you. • Be careful getting mail sent there, I had a couple of items delivered there and got hit with a $50 bill and signed up for a virtual membership (which I didn’t want). I understand there’s rules, but considering the volume of mail was low, and none of it for business purposes seemed a little inflexible. I understand all the above may be quite common for shared workspaces, however if you’re like me and not used them before it’s worth thinking about the above. I did the part time membership, which was quite good, but only saved me $50/month and so wasn’t really worth it. I’d recommend the unlimited plan if your job (like mine), requires long hours, often over multiple time zones. All in all, they’re very welcoming, helpful and there’s a lovely sense of community there. I would however recommend considering what you're looking for from a workspace before signing up.

I did a month at the Commons while digital nomading in NYC. I've used many co-working spaces, and facilities and staff wise the Commons was one of the better ones I've used. It's very well set-up, great wi-fi, coffee tea, very central and easy to access. They even have some meditation/relaxation type rooms. No music playing so the vibe is very work-focused. The Commons team are very helpful, but the people at the space are not the most outgoing so if you are looking for a place to meet people in my opinion it's not very good for that, but if you need a place to get some work done and be comfortable doing it, that isn't a big corporate chain, this is the one.
