The Comus Beer Garden

This is a fantastic local spot. Live music. Relaxing atmosphere and perfect backdrop looking at Sugar Loaf mountain!! The bartenders and staff are accommodating and there are plenty of choices for drinks. Limited food menu but expected at a beer garden.

A hidden gem close to Frederick. Food from local farms keeps things fresh and seasonal on the menu. The short rib was wonderful, tender, and full of flavor. The chicken breast with sweet potatoes was bursting with unexpected flavors that paired well together. The atmosphere is fantastic, reminiscent of a country farmhouse with gorgeous mountain views. Perfect for watching the sunset, especially in the spring and summer months when they have bands playing outside. We had a lovely time and will definitely be visiting again!

It's been a dozen years and a few owners since my last visit. Have seen a bunch of posts and had people tell me how much they enjoyed the beer garden. Which when it first opened was listed as VANISH at Commus. As a big fan of Vanish but not of the drive... I was excited to get a Midnite City with a sort commute. Drove past again and again as I was on my way to work. The guests sure looked like they were having a good time. But schedules and weather kept putting it off. Last Sunday... The stars aligned. Great weather and the wife was off too. Packed up the dogs and headed out. Arrived to see the expansive beer garden less than 1/4 full. Friendly patrons asked to pet the dogs as we looked for a seat. Found 2 chairs with a view of the mountain and shade. (Score!) Went inside to check out the offerings... "Nothing from Vanish?" Settled on a Crush and an IPA. Both were "OK" but not what I came for. The burgers from the grill were a hit and were cooked up quickly. While we enjoyed our drinks and food the band "finished up". Which led to a single performer with a guitar. Then another. Then another. "What is this? Open mic night?" The music and "vibe" kind of dropped. One slow melodic song after the next with the expectation of applause. UGG. Overall... I would give it another shot, but probably not soon. 3 drinks and a burger for $60.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at The Comus, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we pulled into the large parking lot, we weren’t sure what to expect. The building’s exterior is humble almost deceiving. But once you step inside, wow! You’re transported into a cozy blend of vintage elegance and rustic farmhouse charm. The decor feels like a tasteful nod to countryside luxury. We were warmly welcomed and taken care of by a group of kind, cheerful ladies. A special thanks to Mr. Landon Howard, who personally gave us a tour, his hospitality really stood out and added to the experience. But let’s talk about that view of Sugarloaf Mountain. Breathtaking. Surreal. Dining with a mountain in your line of sight is something out of a movie; I’d never experienced anything like it. For appetizers, we shared mussels swimming in a deeply flavorful broth, and my wife enjoyed fresh rosemary focaccia paired with a slightly sweet butter—both were an easy 10,000/10. For our mains, I had a perfectly cooked trout with cauliflower, while she went for a classic burger and fries. Everything was delicious, cooked with care, and beautifully presented. Drink-wise, she sipped on a glass of wine, while I tried a mocktail (I believe it was called a Spritz). Not really my thing—too much ice and a bit watered down—but that was the only minor detail in an otherwise flawless night. Outside, there was live music, comfortable seating, and even a few bugs flying around—just enough to remind you that you’re truly immersed in nature. It gave the whole experience an earthy, authentic charm. Next time, we’re bringing the kids. This place is a hidden gem with soul, flavor, and scenery. Highly recommend it!

2023 Was closed for wedding venue on Saturday. 2024JULY I was busy with travel and finally decided to give one last attempt to visit here. If you don’t have a reservation, you will be placed in a small quadrant of an area that only has five tables (one area had a bench seating by a window with chairs and table) that are semi tightly place as far as space. The reservation or reserved area has at least 15 or more tables. That area is very loud. And all of the seating area is in the same vicinity. The ceilings are super low. Regardless of it being a renovated old house. The noise level is super loud and you can barely hear your own party have a conversation. Our server D(not giving their full name, my choice)was polite and professional. The food was not much to choose from on the menu and over priced. You’re paying for the view of Sugarloaf Mountains. Me and my party went downstairs to Vanish (or as it is called) Vanish at the Comus Inn…being that Google Maps won’t allow a separate review for Vanish…they get ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the food and beer that we ordered was good. The service was good as well. You can access Vanish outside by the sidewalk area where there blueish sign is or from the inside of The Comus Inn. Outside there were two guys setting up on stage to play and sing live music. That was pretty cool. The property is nice. Seating in a lot of places.

I followed this restaurant on social media for a while and finally got the chance to go. We started off with the avocado toast. The taste reminded me of pepperoni, my friend said it needed salt, that it was bland. I ordered the breakfast burger, all the ingredients were fresh and my plate came out hot so I really enjoyed it. The chicken & waffle came out cold. The breading on the chicken was extremely thick, it really caught me off guard. The Buffalo sauce tasted like a pepper sauce. The fries were hot and crispy so they were good. I also ordered a pumpkin spice latte, it didn’t have any pumpkin flavor. The presentation is jaw dropping, anyone who saw this would drool. However, the taste was way off. The location is beautiful, lots of parking, great scenery. Disappointed in the brunch. I would like to come back some other time and try their actual menu and see if it’s any better. Customer service great! Waitress was extremely friendly. We arrived early before our appointment and the hostess sat us so that was great.

We enjoyed the coffee, avocado toast, blueberry pancakes, chicken and waffles, shrimp tacos and the salmon at brunch. All the food was amazing. I do wish for the pricing that the coffee would have been a bit larger but it was tasty and they had non dairy milk options. Their menu is lovely the outdoors had a band playing in the beer garden and plenty of tacos and snacks being served outside. The games for the kids and the fish pond is a plus. Lots of picnic style seating on the grass and walls of if necessary. The remodel of the Comus Inn has turned out beautifully. Highly recommend it.

They have ruined all other french fries for me!! lol, I understand how weird I am about to sound but the fries I was served were the BEST french fries I have EVER tasted anywhere. It's worth it to go just for the fries!! No dipping sauce needed!! We also had the shrimp and grits, my parents are still raving about it. The french press coffee, rosemany bread and I think rissoto or cheese balls, all delicious. We went in December so we weren't able to explore outside but from what we could see, it looks beautiful and I'm thinking I might want my wedding anniversary here! The atmosphere is so warm and quaint. Highly recomend them. :)

Took our parents to this restaurant and it was so good! The location has plenty of parking in their private big parking lot, and the inside of the restaurant is charming. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. We had the salad, steak, salmon and the roasted chicken. The roasted chicken was so tender, it fell off the bone. Would 10/10 recommend

We live just down the road from the Comus Inn and for a while it was a favorite "local" spot for us to bring our dogs and the kids and meet up with friends. We were disappointed when the former owner sold it, but hopeful that the new owners, who had more restaurant/brewery experience, might be able to iron out some of the kinks that always seemed to plague the last owner. We had the opportunity to try out the beer garden last week and we were so disappointed. The tacos were runny and falling apart. The nachos were underwhelming. The pretzel was dry and the dip for it was, and I am not exaggerating here, disgusting. There's no kids menu, no games. The entire feel was off and it made me sad. The views are still incredible and they're the only reason this isn't two stars. We've also been disappointed that there hasn't been much local music. There is so much talent right here in MoCo. I'm all for hearing new musicians, but it would be nice to have a mix of new and local. Maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe the new owners have a vision that just doesn't align with what I hoped for the place and that's ok. I plan to try out the dining room and would like to do the beer garden again, just in case it was an off day. If things pick up I'll update my review. But for now, I'm just disappointed. If I'm going to spend close to $100 for my family of 4 to eat and get a few drinks, this isn't somewhere I'd recommend.

Come for a good time, not a yummy time - at least at the spot downstairs. Super cute and incredibly Instaworthy, unfortunately not the same experience that I had upstairs years ago with the last owners. Tacos fell apart at the first bite. Seriously, EVERY SINGLE ONE. They're super small too and if they're that thin, you guys should seriously consider using a second taco shell to catch the fixins. The duck popcorn tastes like regular popcorn (which wasn't that much for the price) and my family complained that the chips seemed stale. Small amount of guac for the extra $2. Basically, for the three tacos, a drink, and the popcorn + tip $60. Plus, they're not even table servicing you. The real value you get is for the dog friendly space & beautiful views. Perhaps the upstairs area is still really good food wise but the downstairs area did not live up to my 5* review & memory from years ago.

I have been bringing a large group to this restaurant for the past few years after we hike Sugarloaf. Lunch after the hike and more specifically the BLT became part of the yearly tradition. We had heard that Comus Inn had new owners, but were hopeful that we could continue our tradition. Today we were disappointed to see the menu changes implemented by the new owners. The limited menu for the outdoor area and the discontinuation of what was quite possibly the BEST BLT sandwich in Maryland has made us reconsider our plans for next year. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel and chicken tacos, but they were underwhelming. One of our friends had to wait excessively long for her food chicken tacos with the corn tortillas. Her tacos came with cheese and some sort of sauce. The tacos I received were lacking cheese and sauce. The music and beer were good.

This review is for the Beer Garden out back. The good- the music was great! The Mountain View was beautiful and so was the weather. Plenty of seating with shade. The bad- the food. We ordered a Bavarian pretzel which was stale, crusty and dry. The cheese sauce was runny. They were also out of tortilla chips at 3 PM on a Saturday. We also waited 30 minutes for a strawberry lemonade. Definitely need to work on the food and service. We really wanted to love the place, but it was seriously lacking.

The location is lovely, as always, but ever since the change of owners... it truly is not the same. I was so excited to check out the outdoor area this week. To try out the beer garden and the food. Unfortunately, the food is not good. The pretzel is dry, the cheese sauce is gritty and the nachos are a mushy mess. I miss the crab pretzel and the lovely pizza they previously had, which was crunchy and delicious. The outdoor area has also been made bland and not fun. Before there were games and a more low key atmosphere, now it seems the new owners are trying another route. There are more setting places, but far less grassy area... more of a boring winery vibe. Beer options are ok! There's a lovely amber red.

First time with the new owners. We went Saturday night and it was crowded but there was space to sit. The beer prices were reasonable and there was a good selection. They do mixed drinks also. The food was good but pricey. Three nice tacos for $15, could have had more meat in them. But you are paying for the view and at sunset it is worth every penny. Staff is also great.

Beautiful place inside and out. You can eat, play, and listen to music inside and out all while having a view of the Mountains. The food was good...not great, the service was very good. And it's just a great place. Enough said.

This review is only for the beer garden. A friend and I came here after a weekend hike at Sugarloaf and it was busy with all outdoor tables full. We came right before brunch was ending so I was able to put in my order for a fall farro salad ($13). We waited 35-40 minutes for our food (my friend ordered an avocado toast). For the price, the portion was very small. However, I really enjoyed the salad. There are around 10 beers on draft at $10 a pour, and other options of cocktails (pitchers are available for some drinks). It is a bit pricey. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here. There's indoor and outdoor seating, with games such as shuffle board, connect 4, and ping pong. It's also dog friendly with water bowls. There's a good sized private parking lot.

The Comus Inn is beautiful and is definitely worth a trip for the views and scenery. Great place for a get together, or for a small celebration. I'd recommend getting drinks and food downstairs on the patio, rather than dining in - each time we've dined in, the food has been a little disappointing. The menu is not very extensive and the quality doesn't match the prices, with the exception of the dessert - the Smith Island cake was really good. However, the staff is very kind and the restaurant has a very cozy feel with great views both inside and outside. They also have live music a few days a week. I'll be back - but probably on the patio, or inside for some dessert.

I came across this spot around Spring 2021. I love listening to live music by local bands and it is what brought me to this spot initially. I remember my first visit as if it was yesterday. The rain had just heavily fallen one Sunday afternoon. I invited a friend to join me, and we parked, arrived, and grabbed a seat - they have bench like seats in front of the stage as well as a few chairs outdoors. There is also seating indoors as well (both upper and lower levels). On my first visit in 2021, I had ordered their Pepperoni Pizza (it was a full-sized pizza) and my friend got their Watermelon Greek salad. I had also ordered an Orange Crush as well. As we sat and enjoyed the food and drink, the music was on point - the band was Rule G, and they were really good. Sometime during the visit, we discovered they also had a bakeshop and ice cream and so we went upstairs and ordered a dessert or two. Since that very first day, my friend and I have visited this spot a few more times. We have never come on days where they have special events. You can bring your own chairs, but not your own food. Parking is free. I have enjoyed most of the food and drink items including the desserts. They have games you can play (I did the ping-pong once) and a bunch of different things going on - just check their calendar online for activities include live bands performing. What I love the most is their sunset views. Overall, great chill spot.

So sad. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Well, they broke it. Waaay overpriced for average food and very limited menu. Where are the fun games? Where are the kids and dogs? Empty on a Friday night. Pretzel was dry and overpriced. I can easily drive ten more minutes into DC and pay these prices but have a fun, lively vibe. Or....the Kentlands. They lost customers tonight who were loyal for years.

Nobody makes it here . They try to sell this as upscale at the foot of sugarloaf and they do everything to dissuade locals from coming in . Sure you can sit at a high top or at the bar without a reservation I been turned away twice last time the place was rocking was 1999 / 2000 if they stop being something their not you might make it but I highly doubt it . Was ready to spend 150.00 tonight local poolesville residents and again turned away really weird

2 stars for the beautiful view - the rest was pretty bad. The food was terrible-how do you mess up a hot pretzel & chicken tacos. The beer was mediocre at best. The staff wasn't friendly, at all. The bathrooms & tables weren't clean - I set my purse down in something that smells like grape flavored nastiness & can't get the smell out. We used to love it here. We're bummed.

The chef needs either an upgrade or changed. The food is mediocre. The menu does not make sense. They need to offer more regular options. I think I was given 4-5 new napkins every time the waitress came to the table. Creating more waste than necessary. We loved the Comus Inn with the last owners. We will not be returning.

So thankful to live so close to this place. If you want to enjoy nice weather, this is the best place to enjoy a cold beer outside and listen to some great live music. Constantly rotating selections on tap. My kids love it too (especially the ice cream and games). We always order the Detroit-style pizza, smash cheeseburger and the Nachos to split. Everything I've had on the beer garden menu has been but those are our favorites. I've also eaten inside many times without kids when I want a more upscale dining experience. Sammy D absolutely kills it. The bronzino is incredible and Italian specialty dishes are great for dinner. On Thursday in the dining room, it's half-off wine bottles and Sammy provides a complimentary charcuterie appetizer for the table. For weekend brunch, the eggs benny and chicken and waffles are always on point! Pro tip: catch the golden hour! We took our family photos here.

I used to really love this place but their holiday specials are definitely over-rated. We just had brunch here for Mother's Day and it was way too expensive for what you get. $56 per adult for some basic entrees, pastries and berries as a starter and a selection of desserts. For 3 adults and 1 kid we ended up paying almost $300 ( including drinks, tax, and tip). I've definitely had better for less. Plus it took so long to bring out our food and drinks that we all thought we were going to pass out at the table from hunger! I will say that it's a beautiful property and the live music is lovely. Just don't feel like you need to break your neck to take someone special here on a busy holiday. Stick to a weekend where you can bring a picnic blanket, your own food and have some drinks and ice cream.

Back in the day I loved this place- scenic view of Sugarloaf mountain while enjoying brunch. Old school The modernization is intriguing- not as quaint but more farm house feel with wood plank floors and the upstairs gives a nice view of the sunset. Bar and food are on 2nd level with family friendly downstairs. Last year I had an awesome butternut squash- this year not so much, butternut is in a salad but no soup- hence 4 stars. C'mon Chef its Fall overlooking trees and mountain- you need soup! On the menu. The hostess was great- although she was stumped as I was as to what "sexy salt" is, but knowledgable on everything else. Really liked the fresh lemon lime water. I settled on the crab dip- a little salty, and used the top for dipping and more bread was given to dip, crab was not lumpy. Drink was a little expensive but refreshing, sunset cosmos and they also carry Windridge wine; a local winery with good wine selections. As more people gathered it got a little noisy/loud- acoustics . Next time Ill try back upstairs- maybe try the salad with sexy salt- or smashburger; the menu changes, limited but options vary. I noted they also had craft beer on tap. $36.40 for what I had A couple shots: the view is still stunning

Best "chicken Parmesan" ever. The quotes don't mean it's some sort of fake chicken. The perfectly baked chicken with amazing burrata cheese and grilled tomato were amazing together. It was like a deconstructed chicken Parmesan-all the flavors with none of the squishy/yucky breading that usually gets in the way.

Unwelcoming hostess sat us at a two top when other couples had a four top. We asked to be moved from the table shoved against the wall and were moved to a table with the blazing sun making us both too warm. We decided to stick it out. Next up - inexperienced wait staff. Took a LONG time to come to the table. Didn't understand what "hold the onion" on the burger meant and wrote "only onion on the burger". Tried to take Scott's plate while he was putting food in his mouth. Tried to pour red wine into the same glass that white wine had been served in.... Now - the food. Farmers cheese is soft cheese in a mason jar with half loaf of toast. It wasn't awful, just poorly described on the menu. Scott's burger was well done, not medium as ordered. The five-inch black hair on my entree plate of trout definitely took the enjoyment out of the dish. We were brought the check before Scott finished eating, though we were happy to be able to leave without delay. We won't be going back. So many of us in the area had high hopes for the reopening of the Comus Inn.

Best chicken and waffles in the Montgomery County area. That's how I am starting this review because it has to be said. Chicken and Waffles in restaurants I have tried for brunch have unfortunately become lazy and switched from fried chicken to chicken tenders (Barking Mad for example, even with how good that place is) but here at The Comus Inn is different. Their fried chicken is marinated in a brine that gives it a peppery taste, and they give you three huge pieces of chicken. The portion size here for what you pay is insane. The service is also great as well, the waiters I have had overtime here always know the menu and can speak to it. They also have an outdoor area with a bar that looks over Sugar Loaf mountain, so this place is the summer is a great place to hang out with friends. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

Nestled near the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, this cozy restaurant oozes rustic charm and ambience. We stopped by here after our hike at Sugarloaf and were pleasantly surprised by the cozy interiors, which had a farm country bed and breakfast feel. The food was also high quality and tasty, and service great, but i thought it was too pricey for the portion. Seeing as how there are limited restaurants in the area, I guess they can charge a little higher than usual.

Love this place. Breathtaking views of Sugarloaf. Rustic charm meets gastronomic paradise. The brunch is fantastic. Super delicious. Prepare to be full! Their BLTA is something to behold... Dakota made the experience all the better. Will be back!

This review is of the outdoor beer garden. Nice venue. Plenty of seating at patio tables or Adirondack groupings. Really nice, peaceful views. Did not try the Inn's food. The taco truck was meh. They really need to crate a better choice. Yesterday was cloudy and slightly cool and may have contributed to a smaller crowd.

I was able to get a reservation, service was good along with the food quality and taste. It was a pretty view from the main floor dining area. Following brunch we went downstairs and got a few drinks. They had tons of local beers, the orange crush cider and frozen watermelon froze were tasty. The Bloody Mary seemed like it had horseradish in it, not my favorite.

My boyfriend and I loved stopping by this place after hiking Sugarloaf Mountain. We had pizza and beer. The view was incredible. I recommend stopping after a hike for the sunset.

We came to Comus Inn for Sunday brunch and we had a great experience. The restaurant has a nice farmhouse style decor And the food was delicious and fresh. We definitely had an enjoyable experience and would come back to try other items on the menu. The only complaint was my grandfather ordered apple juice which was $4 and was not freshly made and only was poured in half the glass and there was no free refills. Other than that, there are three different sections for seating--The full service dining, the outdoor dining, and the basement with the full bar and beer garden. It's an interesting concept and it definitely was a nice place to visit since it was able to accommodate our large party of 11. I ordered the avocado toast and it was a beautiful presentation and very delicious and fresh. Definitely "Instagram worthy" for a nice photo op and worth every bite. Our party of 11 were pleasantly surprised and everyone enjoyed their food. At our table, one person ordered the salmon Benedict, another person order the bagel and lox, another the croissant with ham and cheese, chicken and waffles. My husband had the pumpkin waffles and this was excellent as well since it came with cinnamon butter. Just perfectly cooked and crispy. The restaurant was clean and the service was prompt and friendly so bonus points from my perspective. We loved our experience at Comus Inn and will be definitely adding this to our dining rotation in the future.

Food, service, ambiance were all great. Been here a couple of times now for indoor dining. Only thing we didn't like is that we couldn't have the birthday cake our friends brought to the party. They don't allow outdoor food or drinks, which is understandable for the outdoor area, but at least birthday cakes should be allowed for indoor dining. 2nd time we went, VJ was our waiter and he was fantastic!

What a cool spot! First time here and made a reservation for dinner. They were also hosting a wedding reception, so we were able to grab a table upstairs overlooking the beautiful scenery of Sugarloaf mountain. Ordered the gnocchi to start and it was delicious. Actually the gnocchi itself was just OK, but the sauce made with various mushrooms and peas was incredible. The homemade bread and butter came in handy to soak up the sauce. For my entree, I ordered the burger and it was awesome. It's actually 2 thin patties stacked with bacon, lettuce, tomato, etc. Very flavorful juicy burger! The accompanying fries were fantastic too. Thick cut and nicely cooked, it was probably some of the best I've had. For dessert, ordered the German chocolate bundt cake and it was so good. Very moist and dense with a great coconut icing. Apparently, they also have backyard patio seating that's first come, first serve. That's where the majority of the people were and they have food and drinks available out there too. Will definitely have to return to hang outside and try their other menus which include pizzas and BBQ. Great overall meal!

Prior to our dining reservation, we stopped by their beer hall and beer garden. If you order from the bar, expect to wait awhile to order drinks. There were tables under a rose trellis, tables with umbrellas, and several sets of lawn chairs around a fire pit. It was unclear whether you had to reserve a fire pit or if it was first come first serve. It was nice that the outdoor area was dog friendly. Most tables have a QR code that you view the menu and place an order. We found a table by the koi pond. We enjoyed sipping on Orange Crush and Red Shedman Apple Pie and Ice Cream Cider and the view of the Sugarloaf Mountain. Since it was a bit chilly outside, we decided to dine in 30 minutes ahead of our reservation. The young hostess seated us at the draftiest table in the house. We asked if there were other tables available and was told that they had other tables reserved for four-person parties. Our table had three large high back chairs with arms. It was situated by the stairs leading to the beer hall, the waiting area by the hostess, and the hallway to the restrooms. It felt like we were dining in an ice box or refrigerator. We felt like that there shouldn't be a table there. It wasn't a great environment for an anniversary dinner or let alone a date. It was pretty annoying that parents let their kids running around tables and didn't do anything about it. Our server Robert G was busy between bartending and serving parties. There were times where we had to flag him down when we wanted more drinks. We enjoyed a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and a pitcher of Peach Sangria. We liked how the Peach Sangria tasted like Jameson Green Tea. They should have stirred it before they put it in the pitcher with ice. We were surprised that there was no fruit in the actual pitcher. Tonight's special was Grilled Oysters (in a white wine sauce). For starters, we shared an order of Homemade Gnocchi, which consisted of gnocchi that were larger than a tater tot pan fried with sage in a light balsamic and brown butter sauce and garnished with freshly grated parmesan reggiano. It was a melt-in-your-mouth kind of experience. For entrees, we had the Pork Braciole and Organic Scottish Salmon. The Pork Braciole consisted of a braised pork shoulder topped with gremolata in a fig reduction in a creamy polenta. The meat was tender and juicy. However, we felt that the sliced figs added a weird texture to the dish. The Organic Scottish Salmon consisted of crispy skinned salmon cooked to perfection served over undercooked roasted fingerling potatoes with creamed leeks and a sunchoke salad. After we placed our dessert, they told us that we could move tables. They didn't bother to clean the table before we moved there. There were food crumbs and straw wrappers on the table leftover from the previous party. For dessert, we shared a Toasted Almond Cake with Anglaise, which consisted of yellow cake with layers of almond ice cream and topped with toasted almonds. It was delicious and it reminded us of a Good Humor Toasted Almond Bar.

A pretty spot! The view was beautiful and on a cool breezy day very enjoyable to sit outside and enjoy the beer garden. Great for young kids and pets too. The food available when we were there was ok, not many options. Plenty of places to his from the sun in and out. Upstairs is a restaurant we didn't try but we did get yummy treats from the bakery to take home.

Came here to celebrate a birthday brunch on a Sunday in May. We were a party of 8 people. Ambience: - beautiful outdoor setting - lots of kids running around - there was a live band so it was quite loud - benches/tables were big so it was able to fit all 8 of us - indoor setup is well thought out - one line for drinks, one for food, water jugs always available and bathrooms easily accessible Food: - overall thought the quality of food was quite high, but would have loved to see more vegetarian options - I got a fried egg sandwich without ham or bacon and it was still pretty great. The bun was super fresh and tasty - bagel w/lox was solid, nothing wow but a good predictable option - tater tots were nice, as expected - awesome apple fritter pastry from their bakery upstairs. Would recommend trying some items from there.

The Comus Inn charged me a $100 reservation cancellation fee. I was forced to cancel a reservation for a party of four for Thanksgiving when a member of our party was suddenly hospitalized. His situation is serious and his wife can not leave him. I contacted Comus immediately when he was admitted. This was well over 24 hours prior to the reservation. My husband and I were traveling from out of town and canceled our trip because of the emergency. Comus refused my request for a waiver for the fee and charged my credit card within minutes. Their response was: "Please understand all that goes into a day like this and just one reservation makes all the difference. We will not be able to recover your table with other guests at this point." At the time Comus sent this message their website advertised that they were still taking reservations for Thanksgiving and gave a telephone number to call. I'm betting the table my friends and I were to have had tomorrow will be filled with other diners happily paying the $68 per person charge. My $100 cancellation charge is a bonus for them.

Food was fine. Ribs were a bit dry. The waitress only filled my glass of water once. And it wasn't even that busy. Just felt like it was poor service. We were mostly annoyed so we went outside to get the sundae rather than wait on the waitress.

What an experience. Fire pits, live music, lawn games and an overall wonderful atmosphere with fresh air and a lovely view. Staff was inviting, friendly, and very attentive. The food was also really great! The nachos were perfect for a group to snack on. The ribs were amazing! I loved the sweet bbq. The crab dip was a fav with everyone. The fish and chips were solid! The beer selection was plentiful. This is a true gem tucked away. A short drive from clarksburg.

We drove from DC to try this wonderful restaurant for brunch and I am happy to say it did not disappoint! We arrived with a reservation for 10 am (when they open) and they were ready to attend us. The view from the restaurant is beautiful and it we truly enjoyed the peaceful countryside as an escape from the city. Our server was nice and the beverages and food arrived promptly. Everyone loves their food! I highly recommended the chicken and waffles and the BLTA. The fried chicken was so wonderfully seasoned, crispy, and moist. I was so pleasantly surprised at how delicious their house made hot sauce was. I was afraid it would be vinegary but the flavors were lovely and the kick was perfect. The BLTA seemed to have an entire avocado on it and so much thick and smoky bacon! Go with an appetite because the portions are rather large! The blackberry sangria was amazing and I will get it again on our next visit! I absolutely recommend this restaurant!

The Comus Inn is spacious and has a ton of seating area, and views of Sugarloaf Mountain, plus it's family and pet friendly. They also have a good beer selection.

We waited 1.5 hrs and just got drinks and nachos.... After asking for the order multiple times. We finally left. this was the second time we have experienced poor service. This time was dinner on a Friday (did we say we reserved the table?) and last time we went for brunch on a Sunday morning. Neither of these times were connected with any holiday. Terrible. And, btw, nachos were minimal for the price and absolutely nothing special. We are not planning to go back and advise against i.

Sunday Brunch is an artery clogging menu. The noise in the Dining Room is awful, the service was terrible, if it wasn't for the incredible view they would be out of business. The food is too salty, too much cheese, bacon under cooked. The Beer Garden food is the same. At Sunday Brunch 12 PM, I could not order from a lunch menu.

We stopped by this place after hiking Sugarloaf mountain. This place is a huge open space. There are several options of outdoor games. We had Hop chocolate which was very authentic and delicious. We also had cheese pizza ( very thick crust) , philly cheese stake, and chicken sandwich. The food was very fresh and tasty. Highly recommended

The Comus Inn a overall wonderful experience. Our server was literally the BEST!!!!! We loved her! Our scenery was serene and we did not have any wait at all since we had made a reservation for brunch well in advanced on their easy to use website.

We wanted to plan a nice ladies brunch on a Saturday. I was able to make reservations that week for 5 people easily in OpenTable. The scenery is beautiful and perfect. When I arrived I checked in with the hostess and she was able to seat me immediately. We sat at a nice table downstairs which had access to an outdoor view. I ordered coffee and a drink. We ask ordered two pastry baskets for the table. It included a variety of fresh pasties, which were delicious. Our server was very pleasant, we just felt that service could have been just a bit quicker. We also had an issue at the end with the bill, but it was resolved. I ordered the sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on brioche ....it was huge! I really enjoyed it. It was fresh and tasted yummy. My sister got the chicken and waffles, which she also seemed to enjoy. Overall, it was a nice spot to try out and we had a good time. I enjoyed the area, ambiance and the food.

The good: Nice country views, patio, live music. The bad: Everything else. Insulting prices for the quality, presentation, and portion of food. We took the hour-long drive after seeing the pictures and reviewing the menu. Wow, what a disappointment, Probably the worst experience ever. Insulting. No, really. This review may read like a joke, but it's not. Let's break it down: They had "ceviche" on the menu. I love ceviche. At $16.00, I don't think I'd be wrong to expect an actual plate of ceviche. What I got was a tiny, 4oz plastic container usually reserved for a side of ketchup. Upon inspection, I saw part of a shrimp, a piece of fish, and a bit of avocado. Of course, served with stale, soggy chips. When we asked about the soggy chips, the staff answered "oh, maybe they're soggy because we put too much salt." So, we took it back and "exchanged" it for something that perhaps matched the place better, a pound of chicken wings. For that same $16.00 we got 8 wings and they were OK, but a bit chewy. We also ordered the $21.00 baby back ribs. They called the cook, "king of the smoker." They were OK, I guess, if you like dry, overcooked ribs. But that's the good part. Of course, a tiny side of fries is an additional $6.00. It was half slab and the included sides (cole slaw, pickles) were served in tiny 1oz plastic containers. See picture! We also tried the "watermelon Greek salad." Now, lots of places have their version, but this is like the frat-house version with some cubed watermelon, sliced tomatoes, feta, olives, pine nuts and dressing that wasn't Greek served in a box. No greens. OK, maybe expecting a gourmet experience at these prices is being snooty. You would think that a $16.00 burger would be their saving grace, well, they didn't disappoint. It looked like it came out of your high-school cafeteria. Of course, the tiny side of fries is an additional $6.00. So, if you come for the music, stick to the drinks and eat at Wendy's or Chick-Fil-A prior. At least their salads have greens and their platters come with fries. Oh, and did I mention you order the same way? Yeah, no service.

Went for Brunch, the ambiance is amazing. Great views of sugarloaf, live music at the Biergarten. The food was DELICIOUS, our waiter (I think his name was Vijay???) was so friendly and gave great recommendations. We tried the steak and egg hash, eggs Benedict, breakfast burger, and fried egg sandwich. Everything was fantastic! Can't wait to come back for dinner!

I haven't been to Comus Inn in years - certainly pre-Covid. The Beer Garden is a refreshing use of space. The concept is great. Self service picnic tables, walk up to the bar and order your drink. There is a small selection of craft beers and wines, as well as icee style drinks with and without alcohol. You can also order some items from the Comus Inn menu, for which they will text you when they are ready. You go back to the counter to pick it up. We had the BLT which was very good. I am not giving 5 stars because the prices were a bit high considering you are at picnic tables and everything is self serve/bus your own table. I will likely be back, after I save up some money. PS. They also had live entertainment that was very good.

Me & my friends went hiking at sugarloaf nearby and wanted to grab some lunch afterwards! It was chilly day but it was a cute place! We opted for outdoors since some of us brought dogs but there was a lot of seating both inside and outside. Definitely a cool place to check out! I do wish they served pizza at time we came though. The food options seemed limited for a Saturday morning and pizza didn't start until 2pm from what we heard. But definitely a nice place to check out if you're in the area!

Overall I'm giving the Comus 3 stars because it has a cozy ambience with a lovely view and good service, but my dinner there tonight left a lot to be desired. It started out well, we were seated in comfy leather chairs by the windows. We ordered the Caesar salad and carpaccio to start. The appetizers were excellent, both were dressed with zesty sauces. It had me expecting the rest of the dinner would be great. But it went downhill from there. I ordered the brick chicken, the presentation was nice but as soon as I took a bite it was extremely dry, too dry to eat or to warrant a $30 entree. They were apologetic and let me pick something else. So I chose the salmon. It was described on the menu as prepared in "gribiche" sauce. I asked what that was and they said an egg mustard sauce. I was expecting something like a bernaise or hollandaise sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly, medium on the inside with crispy skin. But the sauce was terrible, if you could call it a sauce, it was more like a concoction made of chunks of actual egg whites (weird) mixed with some greens, and I guess what was supposed to be butter. The plate was a well of oil that I tried to drip off my salmon with every bite. It was so heavy and salty and I did not feel good after eating it. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich which was very good, but the fries on the side were very dry. We ordered dessert- the carrot cake again was dry. I also ordered the cannolis. The filling was not the rich ricotta I am used to, it was more of a mild, bland whipped cream, and there were too many chocolate chips that were dry and flavorless. Although the view is beautiful, we were there right around 5-6 a o'clock and it got SO hot we couldn't take it, by the end of dinner we were overheating and had to get out of there. Maybe some blinds or moving the tables out away from the window a little more would help. I really want to support our local restaurant scene but I have to be transparent when we spent $150 on dinner to enjoy very little of it.

Online registration does not work. Email confirmation request does not reply. Called three times only to be put on hold for more than 10 minutes at a time. Finally spoke to the manager who said the dining room was booked but we can sit our party of 12 "downstairs" and order at the bar and receive food in take-out containers. Then he said the' e been having internet problems and Verizon were on their way in. Very frustrating!

No stars for this location due to management specially Jennifer Taft. My girlfriend and I wanted to hold our wedding ceremony here. We were given the ran around from the beginning. We sent email after email. No response, then when I call I was told she doesn't check her email on a regular. Then she told us that she would be out of town until November then when we called just a couple of days ago. Surprise surprise she was back in town. But still we have not here from her, and I even sent another email reaching out to her. If you are a gay couple and black do not go to this restaurant. They are not worth given your money to at all. Take you business somewhere else that will Appreciate you and your future wife or husband. I wish I could post this with No stars, the place doesn't deserve even the one.please don't go run away

This is not your father's Comus Inn and YAY for that! Under new ownership, this historic building has changed from Grandma's drab palor to a trendy, rustic, fun place to get some great food or just hang with friends. Gone are the tablecloths and dusty curtains, but in a nod to the rich history of the building, they've kept unusual plates and pewter cups. You can get a phenomenal meal on the main level or enjoy a lower beer garden menu. Chef Sammy creates some of the most wonderful combinations that change seasonally, and every dish is better than the last. The beer selection is all craft brews! Another YAY! Coors light drinkers, consider yourself warned. While the food/beverages call us back, the real treasure at the new Comus Inn is the amazing staff and the extraordinary view of Sugarloaf. They have free music on weekends, tons of seating, including Adirondack chairs around fire pits, and a little fish pond. Everyone is so friendly and there is never a bad sunset at Comus. It has become my go-to, happy place!
