"The Cheese Shop in Concord is known for its focus on retail, particularly cheese, but its sandwiches are also noteworthy. Options include turkey with provolone and cranberry relish on a baguette, and Rosemary’s Baby, with ham, cheese, and lettuce on a balsamic-glazed baguette. The sandwiches are priced by weight, with customizable options." - Dana Hatic

If you’re considering coming here, make sure to ask for Benny at the sandwich counter. He makes the best sandwich in this side of the Mississippi.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience! The large selection of cheeses can be overwhelming, but Josh is incredibly knowledgeable and walked us through the different families of cheeses that we were most interested in while providing great recommendations on some others that we should try! We walked away very satisfied with our experience and cheese selection :)

This visit to Concord Cheese Shop was a pleasant surprise. We met a lovely young lady who shared cheese samples with us and we took home some delicious snacks. I will definitely stop there again when I'm in the area

If I had to describe heaven on Earth, it would look pretty similar to The Concord Cheese Shop. When you walk in, there is a whole counter top and fridge full of all the types of cheeses one could ever want to sample. To the right are shelves full of wine, specialty teas, and all the snacks and accompaniments you’d want. In the back corner, there’s a deli counter with sandwiches and salami. If there’s a lot of people, the process is you take a yellow ticket and wait to be called up to get serviced. If you don’t need anything cut or portioned, you won’t need a ticket. I ended up spending about $100 for two bottles of wine ($6 each from Portugal), 6 cheeses, cashews, salami, and amazing customer service. It’s a little pricey, but you pay for the quality of the cheeses, well worth it, especially since you get to sample the cheeses before you get them. Sometimes the people at the counter will cut too much and will share some with other people. But all the staff are wicked knowledgeable on the cheeses so just share some things that you’re looking for and they’ll give you some ideas of what to get! It can be quite busy around the holidays (especially when I went 3 days before Christmas), so make sure you’re not in a rush. Parking can be tricky since it’s in Downtown Concord, but there’s a ton of street parking in the area. I hope you enjoy this shop as much as I do!

Google
very bland sandwich - not sure how they can charge $19 for it. The sandwich had no taste and the bread that came with it was raw. To charge this amount of money for a sub they really need to offer something extraordinary and this was not - wish I had gone to Subway.

Google
I recently had a sandwich prepared by Benny, and it was phenomenal. Quick and delicious, but also made with care. I will be coming back.

Today was my first time there. Outstanding service, delicious cheese, crackers, and wine. The store has a very nice ambiance and is located in my favorite town in Massachusetts!

Google
I love to get cheese from this store. The staff is a wealth of knowledge. They also have a very good wine selection thanks to the good taste of the person(s) who manage that part of the store… and cafe is excellent too. My Dad went to this shop back in the late 70s when he came here for work. They are still in business because they are the real deal! 🧀

Yelp
Nick is absolutely amazing, he's like a little cheese connoisseur. He knew information about every single cheese that was there. I absolutely hate swiss cheese and I am a cheese lover I'll eat cheese for breakfast lunch and dinner if you let me. But he suggested some swiss cheese and I took a second sample. This little shop is so cute they have like a sandwich shop, a little wine section, they have maple syrup nuts all kinds of stuff more than just cheese for sure. And obviously we can talk about the service and Nick is the reason I gave these five stars he was super kind, knowledgeable, and really just a pleasure to deal with.

Yelp
Home of THE $17 TUNA SANDWICH! Seriously? New owner. New pricing. **************************

Faith D.

Yelp
1) they were amazing regarding my celiac disease. The lovely young man making my sandwich immediately washed his hands and changed his gloves. 2) the tuna salad was delicious! The salads were excellent, and the drink options were great too. 3) the service from every person we came across was exceptional. We bought a chocolate bar from the Berkshires and maple glazed almonds that were also excellent! We will definitely be returning as often as possible!

Yelp
Super great spot to pick up some high quality cheese, meats, and more for a picnic! The staff there was super helpful with picking out some cheeses with you depending on what you're pairing it with and your preferences. They have salads and sandwiches that they make as well. I highly recommend the French Picnic sandwich and to get the three salad sampler to try a few different things. I also loved their house mix of olives and the fact that they have a great selection of wines.

Yelp
Insanely overpriced and nothing special. I've lived in Concord for 12 years... And when I got here this place was just OK. Crazy expensive for what they have. Just OK. In the ensuing 12 years, it has gradually gone downhill. First upon walking in the door, you notice the funny offputting smell. Never a good thing for a food store. Take a walk over to the deli and look at the selection of charcuterie. All of the choices are discolored, oxidized just sad. Did I mention the basic salami, nothing special, is $30 a pound? The selection of wines and aperitifs is respectable but nearly 40% more expensive than retail anywhere else. But let's cut to the chase... The cheese selection is quite respectable, the pricing, not so much. One of the best cheese stores on the East Coast is Formaggio kitchen in Huron Village in Cambridge. The prices at the Concord cheese shop are more expensive than the gold standard, but the cheese is not even remotely in the same league. A Concord institution that is resting on its laurels and getting fusty, stale and more ridiculously overpriced every year. But Concord has never had a notable food scene, maybe this as good as we get. Heck, save your money, go to Trader Joe's, and get comparable cheeses for 1/4 of the price. Or even better, take your hard earned dollars and go to Formaggio kitchen and try some truly extraordinary cheeses.

Frederick S.

Yelp
Expensive but great place to splurge with a great selection of canned seafood. The staff is also very helpful. Staff told us about the half sandwich soup combo to safe us money. Thank You!

Robert P.

Yelp
The excellent cheeses and a lot of wine options also. Very friendly staff. Still has the quaint village look and feel.

Elisa S.

Yelp
Lovely lovely shop! So many wines, cheeses, charcuterie. Everything you need for a great party... with a very warm welcome:)) definitely recommend!!

Timothy A.

Yelp
The cheese shop has knowledgeable staff and great cheeses along with great wine choices! They will order anything you want as well!

Yelp
Salmon cake was delicious. Comes with homemade tarter sauce. Beet salad and a chick pea salad made for a terrific dinner.

Yuk L.

Yelp
This cheese shop is the bomb. Great selection of cheeses, spreads and crackers. There is a wine section with many great choices and very reasonably priced. A prepared counter in the back has some amazing sandwiches. The special part of this shop is how friendly and helpful their staff has always been to me and my friends.

lee k.

Yelp
We went in to browse and the wine person (possibly the owner) was so knowledgeable about wine. I'm kind of stuck in my ways when it comes to wine that I drink. He definitely pushed me and my friend out of our comfort zone. My friend wanted a fruity but not sweet sparkling wine and he suggested a Slovenian wine. Totally exactly what she asked for. The guy at the cheese counter was very patient with us while we made up our minds on cheeses. Perfect dinner. I'm down for whatever is suggested next. I just found my new wine stop.

Shine B.

Yelp
I bought a soft cheese here and when I got home I saw that the expiration date was a few days prior to the day I bought it. Not a problem if the cheese is good. When I opened there was ammonia smell but it was edible. We had some. The next day the cheese tasted like ammonia and was inedible for us. I'm disappointed and I feel ripped off. They sold me old food at a high price. I did email them via their website system but never heard back.

Matt S.

Yelp
Cabot's maxes out the sophistication of my cheese palette but the deli food & sandwiches are absolutely fantastic. They no longer have any seating (thank you, Covid) but a great food option if you're open to take-out.

J H.

Yelp
Great service and very informative regarding cheeses and wine. Yummy sandwiches too!!

John D.

Yelp
Love love love the Cheese Shop! Always fun to discover new cheeses, and their deli counter is hard to beat.

BD M.

Yelp
Wow !!! Come for the cheese -- stay for the sandwiches!! Loved this shop since I was a little girl and my parents would stop In. Bit of nostalgia but also love the quaint atmosphere. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. In addition to cheese, today I picked up Some Deli items BROCCOLI SALAD - old school, broccoli salad, delicious with smoked almonds and bacon and purple onions as well. Addictive. WORDS OF WISDOM---buy more than you think you want. ROSEMARYS BABY Absolutely blown away and delighted by this fan favorite. The most delicious ciabatta with succulent prosciutto ham, and Piave cheese. Then drizzled with an exquisite balsamic vinegar. Make sure you order this. BLACK STALLION this roast beef sandwich comes on a baguette with horseradish. My husband enjoyed it, but said he'd like even more horseradish. My husband points out not to be misled by the name, the meat comes from a cow. SPECIAL OF DAY PHIL'S PHABULOUS. I met people in line, who drove in from Boston and western Massachusetts when they read that this was the special of the day. Everybody was ordering this, so I added this to our order ----what a winning combination of layered deliciousness. A combination of salamis and cheeses, pickles and roasted red peppers on the most delicate focaccia you can imagine. it was absolutely layered to perfection. Must order the next time it's on the menu. Also, some stranger whom I met in line, told me that it's good the next day. So buy extra!

Ryan B.

Yelp
Quality cheese monger and high-end grocer with a broad selection of cheeses, meats and prepared foods. We selected 5 cheeses, 3 meats with a lot of help from the counter staff. A+ experience for selections and kindness of the staff!

Courtney S.

Yelp
Today I was able to visit from San Francisco! My husband's family is from Waltham so we make it to Boston a few times a year. I have been wanting to come for years and it was everything I expected! The cheese case had a wide variety and was nicely displayed and organized! Lots of imported and local choices including the seasonal Black Betty Gouda from Holland! Only 40 wheels came to the USA this year so I was so happy they had some. Love the variety of other pairing items like breads, jams, candies, wines, etc The deli sandwiches looked delicious and fresh and I will try one next time. The staff was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. When I walked in, was greeted with a warm smile, offered samples and informed about a few of the seasonal cheeses just in. They did not rush me and waited while I looked, tasted and picked the cheeses i wanted. I love the relationship building the cheesemongers were doing. Inviting me back for the cheese parade next week (i so wish we were here for it, but I will be back in San Francisco by then). I will be making a trip here every time I come to Boston. I am one happy customer!!!

Yelp
GREAT cheese, GREAT wine. Mike in the wine shop is such a great recommender of wine! This place is such a little gem.

Andrew T.

Yelp
This place is a vibe, unique, and everything you want in a cheese shop. The staff was great at explaining the questions I had. I forget the name of my sandwich, but it had roast beef, bacon and a cheddar beer spread that was phenomenal. 10/10

Dale A.

Yelp
Went to buy some Left Over food to support the program and a piece of cheese for my boyfriend . Waited in long line. Was met with dismissive, disrespect-able attitude. Treated as if the purchase wasn't worth their time. Good cheese, bad people!

Dave C.

Yelp
What in the world is the buzz about this place? Sure, if you're a cheese snob this place is probably your Mecca, but the sandwich prices were ridiculous. They have some weight formula that charges you more per sandwich, and the quality was sub par. Sorry locals, but I'm not a fan and won't return....which I'm sure won't impact their bottom line in anyway as they make bank.

Payam Z.

Yelp
This really is a special spot which I wish was a bit closer to me. I last visited on a beautiful sunny day where they were making grilled cheese sandwiches using their secret cheese blend on a special grill outside. I'm no grilled cheese connoisseur, but this was probably the best I've ever had. If they're serving it when you visit, don't hesitate! there's also a sandwich counter inside which seems quite popular but the wait during my visit was too long. The real attraction was the cheese selection. I picked up a slice of their truffle pecorino that really reminded me of what I had tried in Tuscany. The staff were nice and knowledgeable and aside from having to wait for the goods, I had a great experience. In brief, this is one of the best places for cheese in MA. Worth a visit if you're nearby.

Yelp
Love Love Love The Best Cheese Shop in the world. Today, though, It was not the warm, happy, welcoming store of the past. I think, if the owners are super scared about having people in their store, keep it closed. Or continue with curbside only. Being treated like a Leper, upon entry, does not make for good customer experience. Anyways, sandwich, cookie, chips and drink were delicious! The lady who helped me was helpful and friendly! I didn't even notice the cheese section or the usual wafting delicious smells. Just wanted to get out of there. Let's get back to normal soon!

Anna M.

Yelp
Friendly helpful and well informed service, can be a bit crowded but if you go during non-touristy times it is a very cute place and the food is delicious. Staff will take your needs into consideration when recommending cheeses, wines crackers and more to customize your picnic, charcuterie board, and more.

Yelp
The beautiful town of Concord is known for the birthplace of the American revolution and other amazing tidbits of Americana but, did you know that it also has an epic little cheese store too?! I was lucky enough to stop into this shop this week because a friend of mine loves it. Not only does this place carry an extraordinary amount of cheese from all over the world but, the wine selection and sandwiches are legit too! The staff is super helpful and is strongly recommend asking them for suggestions as cheese and wine can be a bit overwhelming. If you're in the area make sure to swing by for a visit. They have complimentary wine & cheese tastings on Friday's and Saturday's. Support local!!!

David S.

Yelp
A true cheese shop with people passionate, and knowledgeable, about their cheeses from around the world. They also have a selection of other items to go with your cheeseboard; wines, meats, olives, crackers and more. If you love good cheese and want something more interesting than you will find at the local market, stop by.

Betty R.

Yelp
Although there were many cheeses to pick from, and some of the staff seem familiar with the flavor and texture of each, they seem impatient with people choosing from the selection. When we wore a mask, every time we touch our face, they jumped in front of us and gave us hand sanitizer, and told us we could not touch our mask while we were there! I saw some of the crackers there at the local supermarket for almost a dollar less, and a decent selection of imported cheeses as well, so I think I will stick with the supermarket

Alix T.

Yelp
The selection of cheese is super. Also lots of crackers and nibbles. Sandwiches are very good. They are great about letting you taste a cheese before buying. But it's hard not to buy too more than you can use.

Douglas S.

Yelp
We love the Concord cheese shop. It is a special place to visit in Concord. You can get just about any kind of cheese that is in existence there. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Perhaps it is a little expensive but they measure it is well worth It for all the service that you can get there. I would highly recommend the shop have a good time when you visit.

Christina K.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches! Quality ingredients. Quick service. Lots of fun to look around the rest of the store, too!

Mai Linh N.

Yelp
I Was looking at all the cute little shops in town and this one caught my eye... it was amazing. Fantastic gourmet cheese monger! Incredible array of cheese, crackers, vinegar, lots of options and things to buy for any foodie.

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
This place is a local gem. Fantastic cheeses, wines and dry goods along with a great sandwich menu.

Julie H.

Yelp
I love everything about The Concord Cheese Shop. Delicious cheese to make your charcuterie board. Amazing wines. Sandwiches made to order at the deli are our favorites.

Pete M.

Yelp
Amazing place, they have it all, knowledgeable staff too. Ummm, where have you hidden the check out? Will anyone I ask tell me? Oh, too busy. Also they close at 5:30 (5:20ish) so working class riffraff like you and me can't get there on weekdays. Closed on Tuesday's? Must be tune up day for the Rover (Rovers need lots of TLC). So many wine and cheese choices locally (Whole Foods, Concord Market, Walden Liquors, even Crosby's!) Closing at 5pm-ish-ness really says a lot.

Joseph V.

Yelp
Great place. Good food, excellent wine selection, and friendly, helpful staff. A Concord MA establishment that you should absolutely take time to visit if you like wine, cheese, or sandwiches.

Mass A.

Yelp
Honestly some of these reviews are just so silly, complaining about the smell. Hello, it's a cheese shop. It smells like cheese! We've been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. The selection of cheese is wonderful and the staff is knowledgeable, which is so important. They are also very friendly and accommodating even when the store is busy. They also have a great sandwich deli made from the freshest breads, meats, and cheeses. I've had them at lunch many times and have always been satisfied. There are a host of other goodies here as well, cookies, teas, biscuits, crackers, etc The prices are on par for the area which is to say a little on the high side, but they're not unreasonably so. We love coming here. If you're in the area I suggest you stop by.

James E.

Yelp
Went by in the midst of Covid19. Wife and I had on blue surgical gloves and masks. Was met at the door by the owner who insisted we use the gloves he provided. Ok, no problem. Then I notice he has no gloves nor do 3 of 4 employees. I ask why he insists on gloves for us but none for himself and he replies, "because I'm not handling cheese." Whereupon he handles and prepares several orders of cheese for pick up as do his gloveless employees. So protection *from* the customers but none *for* them? Won't be risking that again. I'll get my cheese elsewhere thanks.

LaiSun K.

Yelp
I really like the deli food they sell here and I think the staff make the experience pleasant and fun. For light lunches, I usually go for two salads combo or half a sandwich. The staff are obliging and fast so you don't have to wait too long get your order. They also post riddles on the board to keep your mind engaged if you have to wait in line to be served. Remember to take a number when if you want counter service as it can get busy here at lunch.

Kimberly R.

Yelp
This place is perfection. Their cheese selections are incredible, and the cheese mongers are always patient and make great suggestions. A nice variety of crackers and imported foods, alcohol, and a deli (which has gluten free bread options!) make this a place I love to visit repeatedly.

Ron E.

Yelp
This is where you get the good stuff. You know it's good the minute your inside and you fill your lungs with that delicious aroma.

William C.

Yelp
The best cheese selection in the Greater Boston region. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended if you are looking for the best cheese from around the world. A must for cheese fanatics.

Jeff D.

Yelp
This store smells great, so long as you like cheese. They have an excellent wine and smaller but well thought out beer collection as well as a deli that makes sandwiches and doles out pre-made side dishes. Well worth a visit before planning a picnic at Walden Pond.

Mike G.

Yelp
We stopped by yesterday for a quick bite to eat. Immediately upon entering the store we could smell an aroma of all sorts of cheeses. The deli counter is near the back of the shop, and there were several people in line. We ordered the French Picnic sandwich along with a bag of chips and two cans of seltzer. The total price was reasonable. The employees were quick, helpful and friendly. After a few minutes in line we realized they use a number system for the next customer. Fortunately, a very nice customer recognized my mistake of not taking a number and gave me his number. We walked around the corner to the War Memorial, sat on a bench and ate our lunch. The baguette had a perfect texture, and the mixture of meat, brie and green apple slices was fantastic!

Mariya H.

Yelp
Right in the heart of Concord, this shop has to be the go to place for every resident or visitor! I found myself feeling as if I was in an international delicacy shop out of the country. From the moment you step in you are brought into the world of international fine dining and eatery. My experience here was extremely positive. We stepped in an walked in on an employee hosting a mini wine tasting! We were quick to join in and experience the fine wines of the Republic of Georgia & Spain! The hostess was extremely friendly, knowledgable and I have to say I was impressed with her knowledge about the history of wine and wine making! We found ourselves happier than usual after our free wine tasting and headed over to the cheese section! We were met by a warm elderly woman who was happy to help teach us about different cheese from around the world and let us try some. We settled on Australian feta (superb!) and Swedish cheese (1/4 of a pound which we finished in 15 minutes)! I can't wait to plan my next trip to Concord just to head into this little gem and buy more cheese and wine! They had a huge selection of international foods to choose from, I felt like I could have spent hours there!

Deanna B.

Yelp
The sandwiches are good, but their customer service stinks! I went with my son and a friend who had her daughter. My son and I got 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and a package of candy. That came to $21.97. My friend got basically the same thing and was charged $53. She didn't notice it right away. But when she called the Cheese Shop, they said they can't verify receipts, so... This is unacceptable! She paid over $30 extra due to their error, and are just going to keep it, because they don't keep track of their sales.

Jeremy G.

Yelp
We could tell from our very first email from the folks at The Concord Cheese Shop that they were excited to work with us on our wedding. That's why we chose them to supply our wedding's cheese "cake," and why our guests are still commenting on us having the most beautiful - and delicious - wedding cake they've ever enjoyed. My wife and I are cheese people. We just don't have much of a palette for sugar, and we wanted our wedding cake to reflect that. The problem? Cheese ain't cheap, we had no idea how much to buy, and the stinktastic cheeses we tend to favor are hardly crowd-pleasers. The owner, Peter, responded to our inquiry very quickly, and immediately invited us in for a tasting. He came out, shook our hand, and brought out a bunch cheeses for us to try. It was clear that he, and his employee Brie, were excited to help us, listened to our preferences and concerns, and made thoughtful choices regarding our personal tastes, the tastes of our guests, aesthetics and budget. They even showed us some images they had researched to give us an idea of what the cheeses would look like stacked. The price they offered us was very fair - around what a wedding cake would cost, maybe a little less. We didn't stop there. We shopped around a bit in Boston, and while we found some other cheeses we liked and the people were friendly, none could match the enthusiasm and attention to our preferences that Peter and Brie had. We're so happy we trusted them with our wedding "cake," and we encourage anyone thinking of doing something similar to give them a visit. They're delightful people with a real talent for what they do - and have a delicious supply to match!
