Local Cocktail Consultants Leading Concessions at La Jolla Event Venue - Eater San Diego

"Local hospitality consultants Snake Oil Cocktail Company have scored the coveted role of managing all food and beverage at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center, downtown La Jolla’s new 49,000-square-foot, 82 million event facility that will be home to the La Jolla Music Society (LJMS) and its programming which ranges from orchestras and chamber music to jazz and cabaret performers. Opening this April with a concert by GRAMMY® Award winner Seal, the venue spans the 513-seat Baker-Baum Concert Hall, the 2,000-square-foot JAI, a contemporary performance space, and a 4,000-square-foot outdoor area comprised of the Wu Tsai QRT.yrd and the Belanich Terrace. All the spaces will also be available for rent, and able to host everything from weddings to private events." - Candice Woo

My family visited a concert hall in downtown La Jolla to see the piano concert of Nobuyuki Tsujii, who is from Japan and was touring the US. He played his melodies from memory, expressing them from his heart rather than reading from sheet music. La Jolla is a beautiful town, and I recommend setting aside an additional day for sightseeing.

Great music in La Jolla downtown. Very quaint, cozy, neighborhood event place which I loveeeeeee. Not only they have great performances of very talented musicians but also international talent too. I also appreciate the fact that they do host some free events for us. How fantastic that they care . Highly recommend for music lovers whether visitors or locals

This a great small venue (seats about 450 people). The lighting and acoustics are state-of-the-art. I saw a Mariachi performance here that was loud and energetic - it included a solo singer without a microphone that could be heard clearly throughout The Conrad. There is a very nice plaza space that is part of this site. A parking garage is one block away that is very convenient and there is valet parking . . . of course there is . . . this is La Jolla.

OMFG the thrill of Abel Selaocoe. I wept. I sang. I gasped. I moved. And yes, The Conrad; I love it because it is small and thus there are no bad seats. All seats provide an intimate connection with performers. And now, most recently, Sona Jobarteh. I wept, I sang, I gasped. We moved. And again The Conrad. Truly my favorite music venue. Always.

This is the nicest performing arts center in San Diego. It looks newly constructed. Gates are locked until the box office opens. There is a small selection of food and drinks at concessions. The auditorium has good acoustics. A cell phone ringing will sound throughout the room, even all the way up to me in the back of the balcony.

This is a remarkable venue for intimate classical music. There can't be more than just a handful of similar venues in this country. The acoustics are magnificent.

Google
What a beautiful venue, and so much easier to access than anything downtown! I attended a NatGeo Live speaker event with Brian Skerry and was impressed at how wonderful our seats were, but also that all the seats seemed like good ones. I’ll have to return to experience the perfect acoustics with some music soon.

My family and I have been here twice, the first time was great! We had our 7 month old with us, he loves live music and they bring amazing artists to San Diego! The second time they would not allow us to bring him to a show we already bought tickets to. The manager Shawn was incredibly rude to us and told our entire group(including my parents visiting from Chicago) that we are absolutely not welcome here. This is extremely inconsistent and uncalled for.

Yelp
The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Ctr Open House (04-27-19, 2 pm) I had the most wonderful time at The Conrad Open House. Some of the local businesses took part in this special celebration. - Bloomers After entering the courtyard, the staff located at the table to the left of the entrance handed attendee a long stem of either white or orange rose. What a way to be greeted by a beautiful fresh rose! - Beautiful Chiara Capobianco The harpist who played beautiful music for attendees on sunny Saturday. I chatted with her briefly and discovered she had lived in Thailand for 4 years. She spoke to me in Thai. Right away, I felt I was going to have a wonderful experience. - The Clown of Free Spirit The children enjoyed getting their face painted, balloon animals and themselves entertained with the toys provided by The Clown while waiting for her. I, myself, got a beautiful rose painted on my left cheek and carried a flower balloon for others to admire. I hope, I will keep seeing this universe through the eyes of a child for as long as I live. Another word, I hope I will never gonna grow up. Enjoyed my chat with The Clown. Her many years experience being in this business was impressived, 17. It definitely showed! - Girard Gourmet Brought their Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake. Loved it! Attendees got disappointed when they ran out. I was lucky to get the last piece. - Prep Kitchen Luke Armstrong, Todd Henderson and Chef Antonio Votta were featuring their Maine Lobster Roll. It was delicious! I definitely will go back for more. This time I would get to enjoy it at the restaurant. It is located only 5 minutes walking distance from the site. - Piazza Stefano and the team came to feature Porcketta. Presentation, served on a tiny wood boat; atopped on a bed of greens. Per Stefano, the dish was originally from Rome. Very tender and flavorful. I enjoyed it. The little pork fat was a good combination for the meat. - Youth Ballet 3 p.m. performance. Beautiful! Glad I had a chance to see it. - The Jai A group of musicians guided attendees in drumming activities. Love that I was part of the fun experience. Two hours simply flew by. Wish I could stay longer. Unfortunately, I had to head out to another event. Hoping for more memorable experience such as this one in the near future soon!

Yelp
The following are only my opinions (you may disagree), I could not have been more let down than I was recently by the acoustics of the Baker-Baum Concert Hall at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center ("The Conrad"). We were very excited to be able hear [live] two of the world's great musicians (violinist Midori, and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet); but unfortunately the notes from the piano seemed muddled to me rather than being distinct and clear. My wife and I could not have been more disappointed. This is a beautiful performance venue and perhaps there is a "sweet spot" for the sound; but it is not where we sat. An alternative venue nearby, with chamber music recitals, is the Auditorium at The Scripps Research Institute, where The Mainly Mozart Society and others sponsor musical events with world class musicians. I hope the issues [I am opining on] with the sound at The Conrad are fixed, but until that happens I recommend that you either cautiously select your seat (the sound may differ throughout the hall); or attend performances elsewhere.
