Cookie Dough Bliss Is Coming to New Orleans’ Lakeview Neighborhood | Eater New Orleans

"I note that The Cookie Dough Cafe, headquartered in Illinois, has been selling cookie dough since at least 2011 by the tub online and in grocery stores." - Stephanie Carter

Google
Excellent flavors to choose from for cookie dough and ice cream. Love that there is a gluten-free option, too. We tried mudslide ice cream with oatmeal chocolate chip cookies dough....so good. Also loved the strawberry ice cream with snickerdoodle dough. Good portions.

Google
This is such an innovative concept. Cookie dough lovers paradise! As you can tell I went a little overboard for just me and my partner lol super creamy and I really enjoyed these. Get ready for a sugar rush! They have ice cream too so don’t worry about the cookie ice cream combo they will take care of it!

Amanda

Google
I had been wanting to try this for a fun dessert stop to top off the night. It’s cute and clean and the employees were helpful and friendly! While the dough is REALLY sweet, it’s pretty delicious! Our fam got 1 and two scoop options, some 2 scoops of cookie dough! My recommendation is one scoop of dough and one if ice cream. My only gripe is that they don’t have kids sizes and which makes it’s kind of expensive for kiddos.

Google
Such a cute concept and everyone was so friendly! We ordered the half and half (half cookie dough & half ice cream). The cookie dough was perfection and the vanilla ice cream paired very well. There was a small line but it moved so quickly!

Google
Edible cooke dough!! I'm an active viewer of Shark Tank so when I saw the sign, I had to give it a shot. The gals at the counter were so wonderful! They recommended the chocolate chip classic and boy did this take me back to my childhood! Highly recommend a visit if you love cookie dough, this cafe will absolutely fulfill your craving!!

Google
There's a local market here in San Diego we visit just to get a little container of Cookie Dough Cafe cookie dough. When we visited Portland, we were walking around one night and randomly walked by the Cookie Dough Cafe!!! We had no idea it was in Portland and we were so excited we had to stop. Even more delicious fresh from the cafe. We loved the team behind the counter, thank you for the stickers :)

Kira K.

Google
Really cool little cafe that has cookies, cookie dough, and ice cream. Really love to come to this place after dinner for some dessert.

Ok, so hear me out. I used to love this place. It got me through hard times during the pandemic. This was my go-to ordering spot when the world was hard and I needed something soft, gooey and overly sweet. Lately I've noticed the price increases and the slowly diminishing lack of quality. I've tried to ignore it and tried to convince myself "good things warrant selling out". I kept up the charade for longer than I should've. Tonight I thought I would indulge my guilty pleasure as my girlfriend, who despises this place (primarily for my health concerns), is out of town. I always order a "halfsie" and then a random treat I find on the menu so I can feel like I'm "discovering" something. Tonight's random treat happened to be the red velvet cupcake... Let me tell you how much this cupcake sucked. It was a paltry amount of actual red velvet topped topped by half a dixie cup of vanilla ice cream, followed by NOT cream cheese frosting and then a plop of cookie dough that looked like something you'd try to avoid stepping on. The real coup de grace was the price of $9.10 for this pile of mediocrity that I can't return because I still shoved it down my mouth. There was no photo on the menu to sway me away from ordering it. I ate it because I had to know what was in there and what I tasted was the sad longing for corporate greed of a once great dessert institution. Portland is the city where high priced treats aren't usually scoffed at, but quality and some semblance of quantity must ensue. A line must be drawn somewhere and that line starts with this nine dollar cupcake. The rest of the café will only get worse before it gets better.

Yelp
Service: 7/10 very kind! I had a lot of samples and they were very generous Ambiance: 6/10 cute and quaint Food: 5/10 it was very yummy the first couple bites but it's super rich. I'd prefer ice cream. One small scoop was too rich to finish. The flavors were good but it just gets old after a few bites

Yelp
love love love this place! I went a few years ago for the first time on a trip to portland, but had to come back a second time this year. The chocolate chip cookie dough was my favorite - both basic and delicious. The only question I had was if the recipe or formula for the oatmeal cookie dough changed? It seemed different from what I remember. But that could just be a 'me' thing!
google avatar

Nathan K.

Yelp
Stuff is delicious. You do need sweet tooth though. Easy to get free water though. :) you'll need it. Has a nice vibe and design. Would easily come back if we lived here. They could totally offer coffee though and it would have really come in handy. We walked a couple blocks away for coffee and just brought it back but seems like an opportunity.

Yelp
Very interesting to have choices of cookie dough to eat, similar to an ice cream shop - which they also have. The two employees were very friendly and let us try a couple of doughs/ice creams before we made our purchases. Delicious!

Yelp

Yelp
It's so hard to find a dessert shop open past 10pm here (that isn't a chain), so this was a great find! Located in downtown, the shop isn't super spacious inside and instead offers more of a pickup-and-go service. They have quite a diverse set of cookie dough and you can either have it with or without ice cream! The girl assisting my friend and me was so kind and very patient with us, who are indecisive haha. My friend and I ultimately ended up getting a pint to share, and it was so fun. The cookie dough tasted exactly like the "forbidden" typical egg cookie dough we aren't supposed to eat. It has the creamy, rich flavor and a nice sugary texture (the texture is always so hard to get for cookie dough!). While it is a bit sweeter than I would typically go for, I think they do an amazing job at what they provide (and at a good price). Would definitely come back if I crave cookie dough!
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
This place is great! The staff is super nice and the treats are really tasty. It's just like an ice cream shop, but there are options for scoops of cookie dough. I thought I could handle the cookie dough, but it is so rich and sweet I could barely finish my sundae. If you are a huge cookie dough person this is a must try! My husband who doesn't really like cookie dough even liked it.
google avatar

Emanuel S.

Yelp
Service was really good. We've had never tried it but it was really good. There was a few stools to enjoy the dessert.
google avatar

Guadalupe G.

Yelp
I have the world's biggest sweet tooth, and even this was too sweet for me. The amount of options was very good; I got the confetti cookie dough, and the oatmeal cookie dough. I also tried their sugar cookie for good measure. The cookie dough was good but it was honestly way too sweet for me. For the first time in years, I drank milk to level out the sugarness. It's a good concept cookie store, but I did in fact found my sweet limit after visiting here. The service was outstanding though. I loved the workers. They were so nice and charismatic. I would come back just for the service, but not the products. They didn't rush me and encouraged me to take my time. There were a wide range of selections. As for the store, it was very clean and very modern. It captured the whole cookie store feel.
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
After a night out we wanted something sweet and I didn't know what to get as it was pushing 11 pm. We looked up what was open and this is where we ended up! I am was shocked this even was a thing but I was so down!!! The staff was friendly and the place was bright/clean. I got two scoops and my finance got one. They were absolutely delicious but oh so sweet. By the end I was sweets out but so worth going again. Their cookies were also super delicious. Overall two thumbs up!
google avatar

CC M.

Yelp
I love coming into the store. Everything is fresh and soft. I made the bad mistake of ordering it to go off Postmates . The whole experience was horrible. The dough scoops looked like they have been pre-scooped and they were dried out. Don't even get me started on the rock, hard ice cream with the smashed down topping with a touch of freezer burn to go..... They need to make that fresh. This isn't 711. It's a gourmet cookie shop ffs, go the extra effort and make a freshly scooped ice cream for your delivery customers .. come on.
google avatar

Charles W.

Yelp
Omg! Walking around portland, I came across this gem and visited 3 straight days. Definitely as good as voodoo doughnuts. $4 for a large scoop. Definitely a must stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. Oreo cookie dough. 4.5 star Chocolate chip cookie dough. 5 stard Oatmeal Chocolate chip 3 stars (uses oatmeal powder instead of oatmeal)
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
I was shocked when I saw this place on Google Maps because I could have sworn I saw this concept on Shark Tank a long time ago. And I was right! Turns out they didn't end up closing the deal as it seemed on the show. The actual desserts are FANTASTIC!! We were in Portland for only 4 days and ate here for all 4 days. I loved the original cookie dough and Oreo + cookie dough flavors, paired with the cookies & cream ice cream. It wasn't busy any of the 4 times we went, so service was fast and I was able to talk to them about the history of the business. Ambiance is relaxed and seemed good for a date night. Easy parking right in front. Prices were very fair and the cup was big enough for two to enjoy. I loved it and wish it was nationwide. It could be very successful!

Yelp
Perfect spot if you LOVE Cookie Dough! Just like an ice cream shop is this Cookie Dough Cafe located in downtown Portland. It smells really good just like cookies and you can choose your cookie dough flavors and it eat just like ice cream. Workers are super friendly, lots of different options of sizes and flavors to purchase cookie dough. You can even eat the cookie dough straight from there! I don't think I paid attention or know if people actually try to bake the cookie dough with their leftovers. But a fun spot and nice sweet treat if you're looking for a pick me up! We got the birthday cake cookie dough and it was great. There are even options to get cookie dough and ice cream as well as additional toppings. There isn't much street parking but typical city parking around the shop.

Yelp
Our flight into Portland arrived late and we got to our hotel even later, so I decided to just stay in and DoorDash a couple things. This place was presented as an add-on to my main order and since it was on my list of places to try, I went ahead and ordered a couple scoops of the cookies n' cream. To put it simply, it was super good. I'm normally not a fan of cookie dough but the cookies n' cream flavor was super tasteful. I would definitely order again.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
Good selection of desserts: cookie dough, ice cream, basic cookies, and elaborate cookies. The portions here are huge though. This is a good and bad thing as you either eat way too many calories or end up throwing a lot away, especially with younger children.
google avatar

Aron S.

Yelp
Cookie dough served like ice cream! I know! I'm in! At least I thought I was in. I think they do a great job and offer a cool product... in fact it's one that I had thought I would love. Turns out... I don't really want to eat that much cookie dough. I was "Doughed Out" after a few bites. A great concept and worth a try, and for those of you who need cookie dough served with a side of more cookie dough I think you will love it. I'll give a 4 star on the unique idea but a 3 star for my pallets. For me, I'll get ice cream next time.
google avatar

Aden L.

Yelp
This place let us down. Cookie dough can be an amazing treat, but we found Cookie Dough Cafe's to be lacking in both flavor and deficient in texture, it was like eating play-doh. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place, as much as I would have liked to
google avatar

Joe N.

Yelp
Wow, talk about a sugar rush! I found this place on Uber when looking for desert for a date night at home. Two items stood out as a recommendation. We got the chocolate espresso cookie and the "Cookie Monster layered halfsies". The cookie was really good. Soft chocolate cookie with brownie type frosting. A couple of chocolate espresso beans. The Cookie Monster was good but extremely sweet. I didn't know what to expect from the pic but I was picturing something with more ice cream. There was ice cream of course. But a majority of it was sweet cookies, caramel and cookie dough. It would have been much better with more ice cream.
google avatar

Alison D.

Yelp
I ordered on DoorDash and it was just ok. I got the birthday cake halfsies. The ice cream kinda tasted fruity and the cookie dough didn't have the texture of cookie dough at all. Tasted like bread. I also got a side order of Oreos for an extra $1.30 and it looked like it was equivalent of max one Oreo crushed up. Not worth the extra expense. Wouldn't recommend

Alessandra M.

Yelp
Service was amazing!! The place was very clean and cute. Prices are good! One scoop of cookie dough is $4, so worth it. Tastes Amazing!
google avatar

Emily O.

Yelp
This place is SO good! we came here for some dessert after having lunch down the street. I got half coffee ice cream and everything cookie dough. The dough was the perfect consistency and went great with the ice cream. Big shout out to the employee who was working at the time. I unfortunately did not catch her name. She was so sweet to us, and while we were in there a homeless woman came in and was borderline harassing her, and she handled it SO well. We weren't really sure what to do, but another employee came out from the back and was there with her. Will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Wendy S.

Yelp
Went to check it out and tasted a couple. Very sweet so if you're in the mood for a sweet treat it's quite yummy.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
A small cookie shop in downtown Portland. A little too sweet but super satisfying to eat. I ordered the Doughwich and my fiancé ordered just the M&M cookie. Although not pictured, it is a sweet skinny cookie with a bunch of M&Ms for you to bite into. The Doughwich is just batter mushed into a sandwich with ice cream in the middle. The Doughwich is already premade as they keep this frozen in the back. This dessert option comes in a few flavors. You do not get to pick the ice cream flavor, only the dough sandwich part. I sadly dont remember the rest but two of the options i debated were the Brownie Batter and the M&M cookie dough. As pictured, i chose the Brownie Batter, which sandwiched a sweet and tart raspberry flavor. I will have to come back again to try the rest of the dessert options. So far the Doughwich has won my heart and will come back to try the M&M cookie dough flavor.
google avatar

Dominic D.

Yelp
Don't eat any of their stuff, Seed oils in everything. Canola and soybean. Disappointing, businesses would rather serve low quality oils instead of caring about their customers.
google avatar

Vivian P.

Yelp
It takes $0 to be nice to someone and wow this place delivered on that!! Special shout out to Ella for taking her time to get to know my friend and I, while explaining the cookie dough and ice cream selection. She also was able to recommend some nearby fried chicken places when I mentioned I love fried chicken. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! She's the sweetest and never rushed us while we made our decisions. My friend ended up deciding on ice cream while I opted for cookie dough. They have a handful of flavors each for you to choose from. The cookie dough is obviously heavier, so if you're looking for something light, I'd go with ice cream. The scoops are $3.50 each. Definitely coming back for some sweets before we leave town!
google avatar

Trinh A.

Yelp
Honestly, this just wasn't for me. I can see the appeal of this place if you're already into cookie dough, but I've realized I'm not one of those people lol. I think it's more of a texture thing for me. I can't imagine eating a whole scoop of this on its own, was definitely easier to eat with some regular ice cream together.
google avatar

MelissaAnne B.

Yelp
I'm sad that I'm not a huge cookie dough fan. But my husband is. Like LOVES it. So when I told him I found a cookie dough place for dessert after dinner, he didn't hesitate. Parking: street Service: the staff are super friendly and welcoming and they usually offer samples, but during COVID- not so much. Food: you can get cookie dough or baked cookies (which was nice because I got it baked instead of eating the dough.) oh & ice cream! I did take a bite of cookie dough itself- and it didn't feel gritty like the other cookie dough I've had in the past. It was smooth and tasted like eating the gooey center of a baked cookie. Definitely would be back to fulfill my husbands craving again haha.
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
Great place to stop by. Not too much of a fan of cookie dough but they had some icecream that was pretty tasty. Cookies were great too! A bit overpriced for what I got but it was a good way to treat myself. Icecream was very creamy and cookies were gooey in a good way.
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
Wow. Excellent. Cookie dough and ice cream mixed with cookies if you want. So good and exactly what we needed.
google avatar

Rachel V.

Yelp
Great little storefront! Very clean bathrooms! And the service is outstanding. Asking for samples does not irritate these people!! I ordered the "Best of Both" in a cup $7 which is a scoop of ice cream and a scoop of cookie dough - your choice of course. I got the Cookies n Crème cookie dough with white chocolate raspberry ribbon ice cream. It paired very well together but I found myself enjoying the ice cream more. The cookie dough is quite rich, very very sweet and dense. I also wish they had a low sugar variety cookie dough one to cut out some of that overpowering sweetness. But I'm glad I came because it was a nice treat on a hot day.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
I love cookie dough as in I will make myself a batch of cookies that results in four-ish cookies and consumption of the remaining dough. I love ice cream, like, I eat it every night. I didn't love this place. $7+ for a small scoop of ice cream and an even smaller scoop of cookie dough just isn't for me. It is for a lot of others as this place survived the pandemic and does offer several dough flavors that the staff will happily and patiently let you sample. It's worth a try, cute shop and signage, friendly staff but price point seems off. Or maybe it's bc I'm still relishing Europe gelato prices of $1.80 for a scoop?
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Yum! Such an interesting concept, and who doesn't like cookie dough!? We stopped in and tried a few different flavors - the standard chocolate chip and then the everything but the cookie. Both were delicious. The staff person (doughrista) was friendly. She also was just bringing out a bunch of warm cookies from the oven that looked amazing. I'd eat here again.
google avatar

Connie C.

Yelp
Yum! Looking for a quick dessert place on the way home from dinner downtown. Was happy to find this place still open and find friendly staff and yummy cookie dough. Everything was clean, staff was wearing masks and gloves and very friendly. The best combo we liked was one cookie dough scoop and one ice cream. Otherwise, the 2 scoop of dough was too sweet.

Scott S.

Yelp
It's cookie dough served like it's ice cream!!. What more do you want? Very tasty! (A)
google avatar

Anya R.

Yelp
What a fun place! Add this to your Portland Trip Itinerary! Ambiance: Fun and Upbeat! Brings friends here and enjoy trying the different flavors! Food: Aka Cookies and Cookie Dough! Very delicious but rather sweet. I would love a low sweet/low sugar option. It's so good though we definitely returned several times. Service: The people who work here and very nice and welcoming. It was fun chatting with them and learning about their favorites.

Samantha P.

Yelp
So Damn Good! Our server, Rex, hooked us up the with the best cookie dough ever! Chocolate Chip, Oreo, Everything but the Cookie, and Snickerdoodle. If you sneak cookie dough before baking, you have to try this place out!
google avatar

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
We passed by this while walking around downtown and were intrigued to try. They were happy to provide samples and I was surprised to find that some of the flavors weren't too sweet. We decided to get a scoop of the Oreo to share and it was a nice treat to nibble on as we continued to explore the city. I'm not sure if I would initiate getting cookie dough in the future (compared to soft serve or ice cream), but I do think this is a solid first try!
google avatar

Steven W.

Yelp
One scoop of the Cookie Dough feels like a full on meal since it's so dense and rich. I came here recently over the long weekend after eating dinner nearby since I was craving something sweet. Thought some cookie dough and ice cream weren't going to be too much to handle, but was I wrong. I ordered "The Best of Both" which comes with a scoop of cookie dough and a scoop of ice cream. The cookie dough itself was heavy which was a stark contrast to the ice cream which was light. I honestly couldn't finish all of the cookie dough since it was too rich. I would have rather preferred the ice cream with some cookie dough bites as a topping. That would have been easier to eat. I think this place is worth to try if you love cookie dough, but be warned that it is exceptionally filling.
google avatar

Beth S.

Yelp
Stopped here on work trip. The girl behind the counter is very helpful. I gotta make sure of the cookie dough and ice cream and I would definitely recommend that. Nice place to stop by.
google avatar

Kendra C.

Yelp
Holy moly this place is a gem, I want to get desert from here every night! Sampled a few items, everything was amazing! Ultimately went with the July special which is s'mores, I can never pass up s'mores. Get at least two scoops because it is very rich, & save some for later. Definitely going back before we go home!
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
I was walking by this cute shop and decided to swing in. I wasn't even hungry for a sweet but the employee was so chipper and nice I had to buy something. They have it all if you love desserts. Edible cookie dough, how can you go wrong?! It's super rich so watch out. I got one scoop with a mini scoop on top. Big scoop was Oreo flavored and the mini scoop was chocolate chip. Needed to try that for sure but I did love the Oreo more. They serve ice cream and cookies as well. Cute shop!
google avatar

Mandi R.

Yelp
Who doesn't love edible cookie dough!? They have so many collections of cookie dough, ice cream, and cookies. While the staff wasn't exactly friendly, we'll be back for the cookie dough.
google avatar

Cream F.

Yelp
This was unreal. This is the type of stuff you see on Instagram reels and you're like, thats crazy I want to try that. And then you get the opportunity and its once in a life time. i lived an instagram reel
google avatar

Cassandra D.

Yelp
Meh. Hubs got the cookie dough cookie sandwich. Unlike other reviewers, he did not report that his was too sweet. Sweet yes, not too sweet. Mine, however, I got one scoop of the only gluten free flavor they had... and boy, let me tell you... too sweet. Way. To. Sweet. As a gluten free lady, I shouldn't be shocked when sweet treats ooze with an inordinate amount of sweetness. But, I was mildly surprised that this one was. I threw much of it away. Cute spot, and neat that I saw it on Shark Tank when it aired, but I wouldn't go out of my way, and I won't go back. And I wouldn't order any from online either. 3 stars for kind staff, and the fact that my husband ate all his, despite his statement of "it didn't wow me."
google avatar

Joel M.

Yelp
Yummy treats. Nice staff. Clean store. My daughters and I all thought it was delicious.
google avatar

Takako S.

Yelp
Yes it is cookie dough. You can taste as many flavors you want and pick some scoops in your cups and add some toppings. They can do them on waffle cones, too. It is fun place for kids to stop by after shopping.
google avatar

Margaret B.

Yelp
The staff were delighted to help us right when my boyfriend and I walked in! They even asked if it was our first time which we said yes, and the staff were able to explain how the store was set up. My boyfriend ordered the cookie dough and I actually was craving more of a sorbet, so I ordered the maui wowi. I got to try a little of his cookie dough and although I am not a big fan of chocolately sweets, I liked the texture and the richness of the cookie dough. The maui wowi was not to sweet and hit the dessert spot I was craving.
google avatar

Yelp
Have gone to The Cookie Dough Cafe 2x so far. So I think it's safe to say the sweets aren't bad, but in my defense I went this second time because I think their strawberry ice cream is AMAZING and wanted to give it another try with a different cookie dough. The first time I went I got the confetti cookie dough with the strawberry ice cream. I felt the confetti dough had a weird flavor, and after taste. I generally like confetti or sprinkle sugar cookies but this dough just didn't give me what I wanted or needed. The second time I got snickerdoodle cookie dough with strawberry ice cream. That was a better experience than the first, which I may go back again because of it. BUT, maybe it's just me but as I get to the end of the cookie dough I just start to taste a weird flavor from the dough. Maybe the sweetness just wears off for me as my pallet gets used to it but I find myself not enjoying it as much especially once the ice cream is no longer there to mix with it. So, my intention of this review isn't to bash the cookie dough as it is enjoyable and a super cute thing. I just seem to struggle finding a flavor that I enjoy from start to finish.
