"Catch the wonderful aroma of fresh dough, cheese, and stewed tomatoes when approaching the Coop Pizza in the Palms. Owners Mike and Christina Fransen met at the Coop decades ago and now own the popular pizza spot together. A deeply satisfying New York-style cheese slice rings in at $3.50 or 75 cents more for a topping of pepperoni." - Rebecca Roland, Eater Staff

As a Chicagoan, this NY style pizza is GOOD! I get a medium, easy extra sauce, pepperoni and sausage. Ran me about $17, which isn’t too bad. The lovely lady taking the orders is super sweet and so is the gentlemen making the food. Cash only and you can get a slice for $3.50. They also have Italian dinners for a reasonable price. Love them💚

We've walked and driven by this place countless times before finally trying Coop Pizza. Boy, oh boy - were we in for a treat! TLDR: This is our new neighborhood pizza joint with some legit pizza. Initially, we had very low expectations. The somewhat run-down exterior didn't suggest five-star quality pizza. Despite driving by multiple times, we never ventured in. This was truly a case of looks being deceiving. After hearing people rave about Coop Pizza - some even driving out of their way for a slice - our curiosity grew. Could it really be that good? One night, we spontaneously ordered an XL for pickup, and Coop Pizza instantly became our new favorite spot. The size was perfect for two adults with plenty of leftovers. The reviews are genuine. The people are fantastic. The pizza is delicious. No frills whatsoever. The owners, Christina and her husband Mike, are absolute gems who pour their whole hearts into their craft, and it shows. They were very kind, patient and super personable. Heads up: this place is cash only - make sure to bring extra for tip!

Google
This review is long overdue, best pizza I've found in LA keep coming back here even after moving further away, worth the drive! Just wish they would take credit cards ( gladly pay a cc fee ) but getting cash first isn't that big of a deal the food is worth the extra hassle. Don't let the exterior and or location fool you! Go in and get some pizza you won't regret it!

Dimitri

Google
The pizza was excellent. This place does deserve the high rating. Just call ahead because parking is limited and there is very little room inside to wait, obviously this drags the atmosphere rating down but that's not why you come here anyway. For best experience, I recommend getting a whole fresh pizza instead of slices.

Google
Absolutely perfect pizza joint. Friendly, fast, fresh and great dough. Cash only. Owner run. Since 1968!? 400+ reviews and basically 5 stars. The people that didn’t leave 5 stars are probably miserable people wherever they go and whatever they do.

Google
We grabbed pizza from here based on reading that it had good New York style slices. Well, they had GREAT New York pizza. Probably one of the best of its kind in Los Angeles that we've had. We got a large pepperoni and a medium mushroom. The shrooms were fresh and plentiful and the pepperoni was a typical amount, meaning we wish there had been more of it. But the crust and cheese and sauce were just right. We also got an antipasto salad that was served crammed in a Chinese takeout box. Definitely needed more meat and dressing. It was just alright. So was the garlic bread, but I guess for the price you sure did get a lot. We will be back and we will get enough pizza for friends. Heads up! it is hard to find as it is a hole in the wall around the corner from the Indian restaurant. No seating that I could see, so be prepared to eat on the go. Oh, and cash only so bring dem bills.

Google
This place is legit. One of the best pizza places in LA! Also know you're supporting a local mom and pop shop with fantastic pizza, and that alone is worth every penny. (updating this review after seeing prices at other places and DAMN you get great pizza for a great price here. Enjoy!)

Google
Best pizza I’ve had in Los Angeles. In addition to the fantastic pizza the two owners that make the food our two of the nicest, kindest people I’ve ever met.

Bobbie R.

Yelp
Best. Pizza. cash only, but totally worth it. Phone line can get busy, so call in early. No complaints though, i'm glad they're busy! Well deserved.

scott l.

Yelp
Cash only?? Really? Not even a venmo or zelle option. Not everyone carries cash! Drove all the way down and dealt w/ very limited parking, too. Ugh... I was advised there's a 3rd party ATM next door but if I went that route I'd be paying like $10/slice! And the slices are pretty darn small. SMH.

Yelp
Coop is my new go to spot. I had seen it a lot, but it's a bit further away than the others in the area. I've tried all the rest, and finally went to Coop... I'm so mad at myself. I could have avoided some bad pizza and only had great pizza if I had just come here first. It's hands down the best pizza in the area. It's made with a passion for good pizza and you can taste it. I'm a sausage and pepperoni person and they nail it each time. It's the only pizza I'm ordering anymore. I'm done with the other spots. The place is very small, so you won't be spending a ton of time in there, but it's not a sit down spot so you shouldn't be expecting to. The owners are super nice and friendly. They're people you can talk to. The place has a friendly infectious feeling and it sticks with you. Go check it out. It's worth it.

Yelp
Mom and pop type pizzeria that feels east coast. Pretty small space so most conducive for take out. The couple running the place are the sweetest people. This was also first meal at my apartment in the area a bunch of years ago. We ordered a pepperoni pizza for take out and enjoyed it with some of my beers from my stash. I'm a big fan of their pizza! I thought it was really tasty and it always seems to hit the spot. Great for slices as well as they are conveniently located right before you get on the freeway or right when you get off the freeway. Also, they're located right across the street from the Palms train station so it's almost perfect for a grab and go meal. They also have some other items on the menu like the lasagna meal combo that comes with some garlic bread and a salad. Honestly, maybe I might be biased, but just a great spot located close by and always has great food at reasonable prices especially when you want that grab and go slice. Parking is okay - you can park around the neighborhood for street parking or there is a small that it shares with a couple of other businesses. Since it's located in a big apartments area of Palms, it's walking distance for many.

Yelp
Tried to put in an order to go, they put me on hold for 5 minutes (I had no problem with that), and then the lady on the phone that answered was unbelievably rude. I was so taken back, I hung up & did not order. Maybe they were just having a hard day, but I've never experienced that level of senseless disrespect from a business. Disappointing.

Ashley H.

Yelp
This place was great! There's a small side parking lot. This business is CASH ONLY!! The pizza is delicious and NY style this crust. One slice is $3.80 with tax. Cheese was delicious and Mike heated it up perfectly! Service was quick and polite. No seating inside or outside so really just takeout only.

Yelp
FINALLY - the Mom-and-Pop pizza joint at Mom-and-Pop prices I've been searching for in LA. Mike and Christina - thank you SO much for the delicious Meatball/Onion pizza. I decided to check this place out after it was recommended in a local neighborhood group. I, like the original poster, have been searching for actually good, not fancy, not expensive pizza in LA for the past 6 years. I finally found it. I'm an Italian-American from NJ - I KNOW good pizza. This place tastes just like my local pizza joint back home. It's New York-style pizza - not too thin, not too thick, crispy bottom, neutral-sweet sauce, generous cheese and toppings. Where can you get a Large Pizza for $14 these days??? Tip generously folks - these hard-working folks deserve it and we need to keep this place around! I order at 4:55 on a Saturday night and it was about a 40-minute wait - get your order in early, and bring cash - it's cash only!

Yelp
Fantastic Pizza, really great submarine sandwiches. I haven't had anything on their menu that I did not like.

Eric S.

Yelp
Visiting from Texas and we wanted some pizza. We searched nearby pizza spots and luckily came across Coop Pizza. Great pizza and very nice staff. Both Chris and Mike were extremely welcoming and accommodating. We will be back!

Jenny E.

Yelp
It's not NY pizza but it was still good. Good place to stop by grab a slice..good prices. Hope in wall pizza joint. Needed some good, love pizza...this place was around the corner.

C M.

Yelp
Fabulous pizza The people there are sooo nice! We will be back!! Parking in back. Bob's Market next door for some nice wines.

Jamie B.

Yelp
STOP EVERTHING AND ORDER A COOP PIZZA!!! If you are looking for a true NY Style pie, THIS IS IT!!! (the only thing missing is actually being in NYC.) The owners are incredible. The nicest people ever. This is what a real neighborhood take out pizza place should be. I've not had a better pie in Los Angeles. (and I love pizza.) Thank you COOP!!!

Maria A.

Yelp
Very delicious, NY style pizza. Note they're cash only and closed on odd days, but worth the effort!

Jose E.

Yelp
I've been here three times already and everytime I come I forget to take pictures This is probably my favorite spot in LA to get pizza. Highly recommend trying it and bring cash!

Erik H.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area and was pleasantly surprised of locating this little mom/pop pizza shop. That being said, make sure you call ahead to place your order.

Rebecca T.

Yelp
I pass by The Coop every day, and it's wild I haven't tried their pizza until now! I ordered their pizza-by-the-slice to go: two OG cheese and one with mushroom (extra 75 cents per topping). It's cash only, so don't be a fool and try using your credit card like I did! The pizzas really hit the spot: crispy crust outside followed by a chewy, tender inside. Cheese and mushrooms were fresh, greasy, and decadent...certainly a guilty pleasure! Even more incredible that it's a reasonable $3/slice (given inflation in LA...). If I ever have another pizza craving, I'll know where to go next time!

Hannah S.

Yelp
The pizza here is one of the best in West LA if you are looking for something that comes close to NY or East coast style pizza. The staff is friendly and it's a family run business, so even though the prices are higher than the chains, you are getting quality pizza made by a family who really cares about their business!

Adriana M.

Yelp
Some real solid NY-style pies are served up here at The Coop Pizza. We got a large sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, and roasted garlic pizza as well as an order of chicken parm. They were ready within 30 minutes for pickup. The pie itself was big and tasty and priced very reasonably. Thin, foldable, (not too) greasy NY slices. Simple and delicious. The chicken Parmesan was good. Not as good as the pizza, but still solid with a big hunk of breaded white meat. Served with spaghetti. I would definitely come here again next time I'm yearning for a New York style slice.

Ryan G.

Yelp
I can see why there are so many good reviews on this place. Definitely top 3 pizzas i've had in LA. I've lived 2 blocks away from this place for over a year and can't believe I never stopped by. SLEPT ON. I got the mushroom, sausage, pepperoni and my boyfriend got pepperoni with garlic. We both loved them. Also the couple working there are so sweet it makes me want to come back even more.

Sakol M.

Yelp
I finally decided to come here because it's been around Culver City for so long and there's not a lot of good NY style pizza in this city. Even stores around here have come and gone. Yet, the original 50's signage can barely be seen from Palms Blvd. First off, good luck finding parking. Their small lot is always full. Secondly, don't expect a romantic dine-in experience, unless you want to eat standing up. Lastly, don't expect your order to be done quickly. It takes time to make good Italian cuisine. Not fancy cuisine...the good homemade kinda cuisine. Fresh made baked Ziti, lasagna, penne pasta, meatball sandwich...capeesh? Their pizza by the slice that's on display is the only thing I wouldn't order. Instead, order a whole pizza and it will be made fresh. Luckily for me, it's a ten minute drive home and the food was still piping hot. Bellisimo!!!

Oscar A.

Yelp
Fresh tasty fantastic pizza hidden away but worth searching out. Cash only AMEN! Don't miss trying their extraordinary menu and stellar service.

Leigh P.

Yelp
Best pizza. Best salad. Nicest owners. Love them. Everyone I know loves them. Go there.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Love the food here. Love the owners Mike and Christine: genuinely nice people running a small pizza joint. Are they crazy busy? Yes! Do they get harried? Yes! Do they still deliver amazing pizza every time? Yes! The crust is delicious. The sauce is delicious. The toppings are delicious. Do I eagerly wait 30-45 minutes for my order? Yes! Do I burn my mouth because I can't wait to eat it hot and fresh? Yes! Do I have them on a regular Sat night pick-up order? Yes! It's pizza: done well and done right, by owners who want to provide pizza done well and done right.

Cara E.

Yelp
Best local pizza! It has the New York style thinner crust that's got the perfect amount of char. Fav by far

Molly F.

Yelp
Great!! Real New york pizza!! Friendly and fast. Fresh ingredients. Amazing pizza. Our kids are happy too.

Doreen M.

Yelp
I've gotten food from here a handful of times. Good solid food. I've had their pizza, pasta, salads, apps, etc. Shocked I have never reviewed this place. You can buy a slice or a whole pie. I should eat from here more often.

Tom K.

Yelp
Terrific NY style pizza at this mom and pop shop. My go-to place in Palms when I feel like pizza. Remember to bring cash (no credit cards) and call 1-2 hours ahead, because it is small and they have limited oven capacity.

Li L.

Yelp
Pizza is pretty good. Wish they would take credit card though. Parking is a little hectic.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Been coming to Coops for years. We walked inside and ordered 2 large pizzas. 1 large Pepperoni Pizza, and 1 large Sauage pizza with drinks. Pizza is absolutely delicious. Made from the oven with 25 to 30 minutes. All of the pepperonis and cheese falling off of the plate. I was really hungry. Nice servers, pretty friendly. It really made my day.

Alex O.

Yelp
Soooooo much better ! It's a mom and pop place . They are always so polite and inviting here . This is the shop with the " I Love Lucy " special where Lucy tosses the pizza dough and it lands on her head !!!! . Wel the pizza here is delicious . Just like old time hand tossed. Soft flavorful crust, tasty sauce with Italian spices makes your lips pucker and the cheese is right in there withe buttery flavor and stretchy consistency I'm a happy camper .

Cecille V.

Yelp
I love their pizza and the owners! I used to live down the street and got their pizza often. Now, I make sure to stop by when I am in the vicinity. Highly recommend!!

Vette H.

Yelp
I revisited this place after many years of absence. I moved to a different side of town so I rarely get a chance to go back. It still has the same small register and interior set up as before. It much had changed. Anyway, I remembered this place having the best pizza I had ever tasted. Everything was always so fresh and delicious. The service was the same, the husband and wife team who own the place were lovely. It's a small pick up pizza joint, so don't expect to sit, instead just order, pick up, and go. When I initially opened the pizza at the register, it looked and smelled the same as I remembered. However, by the time I got home, it had cooled down and when I bit into it, it lacked the flavors I remembered. The oregano, basil, garlic, sauce not seasoned well, I'm not sure what was missing. The cheese wasn't even that cheesy anymore. I had a pepperoni and meatball, and neither seemed as fresh and tasty as memory served. Keep in mind this had been about a decade ago. So, maybe it is me and my tastebuds that have changed. I've eaten a lot of pizza from all over the world. The local spot is always good for a quick bite and friends over, but it's not pizza from Italy. If you ask me if I would order again? Nope. But if you're in the area and it's your local spot, you for sure should go in for a slice or order a whole pie to try it out. It may be the best pizza you have ever had until it's not.

David A.

Yelp
Cash only! It definitely doesn't look like much passing by it but I will forever stop to try a new pizza place. First thought was it was literally a hole in the wall type place. You order to go! I ordered 2 cheese slices. The service was good. The pizza itself was good. I asked for it extra crispy. The sauce was okay. Not sweet nor tomato-ish. The cheese was perfect. The crust was dough-y, crunchy and soft(inside). Totally recommend if you're close by.

Charles V.

Yelp
I visited again And this time I ordered my usual Pepperoni, sausage and jalapeño pizza and an Antipasto salad which turned out to be really good, I like the Italian dressing that they use.

Lenna K.

Yelp
Best pizza place on the westside. I'm Probably the pickiest pizza eater, i cannot do most chain pizza places because they are gross. But The Coop is it! Cash only. Call it in and then pick up. This isn't some huge chain pizza place. It's a family owned small business so if you're not patient or appreciative that these local small businesses exist - there's a dominos somewhere close by. If you want excellent pizza for a great price that is supporting a family owned local business - the coop is it. They are always lovely over the phone. A pleasure in shop. And the food is always good. There's no place to eat inside so be prepared to pick up and take it to go. You can also get it by the slice.

Ruby K.

Yelp
I haven't written a review in a long time but I had to after I tried Coops recently. Their pizza was that good! The best part is that the pizza was just as amazing when you reheat it. Their dough and crust was so soft, cheese was so good, ugh.. I am so mad at myself for not trying this place before. The only complaint I have that it is cash only. But their pizza is so good that its worth going to get cash for

Chris M.

Yelp
I know I usually do the in-depth reviews, but we just moved to Culver City and are still unpacking, keeping me more than busy... That said... We found this gem literally just down the street from us and Mike was mellow and pleasant to talk to. They ARE cash-only, but I came prepared... We got a Lg. Pepperoni and Mushroom, "well done". SO GOOD! And it's just the "proper" kind of pizza you want, not uber crispy (though the crust was great, well-done) and not uber-greasy. Got a Tiramisu for my wife and apparently it did not disappoint. Going to try calzones and sandwiches, next! ;-)

Derf N.

Yelp
The people are as good as as the pizza, which is the best in town. Consistently excellent service

Kimberly H.

Yelp
The Coop pizza is an absolutely amazing place to come in and grab pizza. They sell cheesy, well made New York style pizzas which leave you wanting more after each bite. The people who run this place are such kind hearted people who really seem to care about the integrity of their food and about their customers (new and usuals) alike. When I was there I chuckled as the woman kept trying to convince customers to let her wrap their pizza slices to go so they wouldn't get cold and they said no because it was such a small distance but she persisted because she knows cold pizza is not the way to go. The only downside to this place is that there isn't anywhere to sit, but nevertheless you can always enjoy your pizza or other delicious items on their menu in your car. In my opinion, The Coop has some of the best prices that you can't beat. I always look forward to eating here.

Ashley C.

Yelp
Honestly, the best pizza I've had in a long time!!!! A true mom and pop shop with pizza made to order. We had an extra large with half to his liking the other to mine and couldn't be happier to have leftovers!!! I assume it was the owners, they were super kind and truly made pizza with great care and love. So so good! Will def be back!

Kyle W.

Yelp
Really solid spot, and based on how good the slices are, I'd assume full menu is delicious. Thin slices, tangy sauce, good cheese/sauce ratio, overall really tasty and done how Pizza should be done. It's a no frills spot - one guy working, no visible fridge, no seating room and CASH ONLY. You walk in, order, and walk out. Pizza is what I came here for and the pizza was best Ive had in west LA. Highly recommend.

Nafees Z.

Yelp
Best pizza in LA. Excellent dough. Simple toppings. No BS. Not chasing insta hype. Just great pizza.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
This tiny little hole-in-the-wall place advertises itself as New York style pizza, which always gets my East Coast pizza snob eyeballs rolling to the back of my head. But we were searching for a new local place and decided to give it a try. The woman who answered the phone when I called in to place, the order was sweet, but quite rushed and exasperated-sounding. She said they were very busy and that the pizza could take an hour. I said that was fine, even though I was hoping for something a bit faster. My boyfriend decided to go pick up the pizza and bring it home, given that I am still recovering from major foot surgery. Of course, pizza isn't going to be as good eating at home as it is fresh and hot out of the oven at the restaurant, so I figured that in because it was barely warm when he got it back. We ordered an XL sausage and mushroom pizza because we like to have leftovers for the day after. It was a very large pie, and quite inexpensive. The sausage was good, and the mushrooms were fresh and not canned. But that's about all the pizza had going for it. It was fairly bland and it had too much cheese and not enough sauce for me. My main complaint, however, is that the crust was very underdone. It didn't have that crunch or the chew I look for in a good pizza. (I did mention I am a pizza snob.) It definitely wasn't the worst pizza I've ever had. But it was far from the best. I don't think we'll be doing a repeat performance. There are too many other choices out there.

Maureen L.

Yelp
I've been having a craving for pizza recently and have searching for a pizza place close to where I live. I'm so glad to have found The Coop Pizza. The medium sized thin crust pizza with marinara sauce which I ordered was absolutely delicious and their customer service is great as well. I will be ordering pizza from them again soon.

bob k.

Yelp
Mike and Christina are the heart and soul of The Coop. I have been a regular for more years than I wish to say, and during that time it has and remains one my favorite places. The food is great and the owners are the best in the world. Thanks to the Coop crew.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Best pizza in west LA/culver but cash only. If you live in the west side then you know about the coop. If you don't then consider this your education. I'm a huge fan of New York style pizza and they do it just right. If you're looking to get a massive pizza to serve a party you cannot go wrong with the coop. I recently got a medium which is their individual sized I would say. I could've only eaten half of it but it was just too good Pizzas are all made to order and they have slices available as well. There isn't any indoor or outdoor dining but when you see people standing outside eating slices you know it's good. The dough is chewy throughout and has a nice baked crisp along the crust. The only reason I couldn't give this place 5 stars is because they are cash only. This place is in a small strip mall that looks a bit sketch but I mean it's 2022. No credit card or other payment options? What're you trying to do, launder money? Come for the pizza it's some of the best in LA.

Ashima K.

Yelp
I walked in here extra grumpy to pick up pizzas for a night in, and within 10 minutes, the lovely owners here had called me 3 different terms of endearment - sweetie, honey, darling. INSTANTLY made my whole day and turned the ship around. Lovely people have the best way of spreading joy. We got 2 medium pies - pepperoni with jalapeño, and my flavor of choice, sausage with mushroom. So delicious! Crust was crispy yet chewy and hand-stretched. I enjoyed the cheese to sauce ratio and was impressed that the mushrooms weren't out of a can. Definitely my new go-to pizza spot in the neighbourhood, and very reasonably priced! Check out the old-school menu. Nothing like an old-timey, hole in the wall spot to pledge your loyalty to. Quick note: I'd call ahead to order in pies, as they get busy and bring cash!

M. R.

Yelp
Best New York style thin crust pizza in area ! Great value ! This is a mom and Pop family owned business. That's been here for a very long time. I've come here with my boys when they were little. Went there the other day with my grandson to get a large pie just to take back home. It was amazing. I highly suggest this hole in the wall gem next to the transit and next to a little market.. easy parking .
