The Corner Pub - Review - Wilton Manors - Miami - The Infatuation

"The Corner Pub has 75-cent games of pool and two-for-one undies nights every Wednesday and Saturday. That means drinks at the gay bar are two for one if you’re in your underwear, and many regulars partake. The pool table is also completely free every Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. So, consider this dark strip mall bar your stop if you’re looking for cheap drinks, pool, and friendly conversations with strangers in their underwear." - Ryan Pfeffer

New to area and just trying to find a lil neighborhood pub to grab a drink in the afternoon before going home and stumbled upon this place and so I first called to see if dog friendly and they Def are. So, we stopped and were immediately greeted by Matty and he had water for mo my dog in hand. We went in. First impressions are it's Def a neighborhood type place so that's great. The few peeps I met were nice. My dog got tons of attention. So, I tried to order my go to drink of an espresso martini but the bar is so neighborhood they do not make them. Top shelf liquor is very limited which is a challenge but ?? The drinks were fine and strong. What made it fun and a place I will Def go back to is the bartender Matty. He's so welcoming and was very friendly and I'm finding that to be rare in WM bars. My dog had a ball. She refused to get in car leaving. It's a no smoking bar. I guess that's new and as a long time reformed smoker I'm appreciative. Smoking right out front is fine. Another nice thing is parking is free unlike most places. So, overall it's a nice lil bar. Just limited in a few things.

Amazing, chill, laid-back bar. Two pool tables are free on Tuesday and dont remember what other days. Great specials at any time really. It is not your clicky crowd from wilton Drive. Everyone will treat you like family. If you just want a place to relax and be cool, then go here. Enjoy. Ps, this bar was know for smoking inside, now they dont allow it. As a smoker I support this, as no one wants to go home smelling like an ashtray.

This is the perfect gay dive bar. It’s dark, smoky, unglamorous, worn and dated—what more could you ask for? Cheap drinks! And they got those, too! Friendly and attentive bartenders—check! Pool tables and a juke box playing the hits of yesteryear make it complete. I didn’t give it a “5” because, well, it’s a dive bar after all. Bonus: this is the anti-wilton manors crowd here. As real as it gets. Check it out—you’ll love it.

You can still smoke in some Florida bars - who knew? Coming from LA this was .... special. The smoking crowd reminded me of those bad boys in high school who you wonder where they would be in ten years... I think I found them. And life has not been too kind. This bar is probably not for everyone, but it appears to have some loyal followers especially if you are a smoker. There are some redeeming qualities like decent pool tables and cheap drinks. My friends drank and played some pool. When we left we had picked up a new cologne call “Ode de Smoke” circa 1980.

Been here now several times and the atmosphere is always amazing. No matter the time of day/night the bartenders are always friendly and the drinks are always good. Love that I can control the music and the happy hour is very nice. Once you start going here you keep coming back.

Yelp
Stopped here for a drink while in Wilton Manors area. Did not care for the fact that only seating is surrounding the bar (there's seating towards the back with slot machines). Glenn was the bartender on duty and he was a sweetheart and provided excellent service constantly checking on us. Smoke inhalation wasn't as bad as Mona's nearby, but still not my thing.

Yelp
Why so much hate on Yelp??? The Corner Pub isn't a disco, nightclub, martini bar, strip club, or leather bar. The Corner Pub is just a really fun, friendly, dive bar on the edge of Wilton Manors. What makes Corner Pub so special is that there isn't that much special about it. Walking in the front door puts you two steps away from the bar where the drinks are cheap, the beer is cold and the bartender probably doesn't have a shirt on. Almost every night of the week is "take your shirt off" or "take your pants off" for 2-4-1 drinks. (Yes, you will see lots of guys drinking or playing pool in their undies on Mon, Wed, and Sat nights.... yeah for freedom!) The bar itself is a bit dark and a bit smokey (It's a smoking bar - which doesn't bother me - and I am an ex-smoker) and typically decorated for the season. There is a pair of pool tables behind the bar, with a damn good jukebox right behind them. The crowd is very eclectic. On any given night you will see the regulars who tend to be a little older, hospitality workers who tend to be a lot younger, tourists who tend to be touristy, and pool players of all levels. Everyone gets along well partially due to the friendly, professional bartenders who work there. What's really impressive is the amount of Charity work the owners do for the community - they are almost always promoting a cause like Children in Distress, etc, and doing specials and theme nights to help support the community! The owners, Shanon and Anthony, should be commended for their efforts - especially since they are both young men. As I said, the Corner Pub is a great neighborhood dive bar... go there knowing what it is, have a great time, and leave a great review. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews - they are from the people who expect prime rib for the price of Big Mac or they just don't have any sense of adventure... I feel bad for them...

Yelp
Well... it's a place. The drinks are well priced. The bartender was nice. The establishment itself was very dark. Not clean. Music wasn't all that great either.

Yelp
Corner Pub, also known as Shannon and Anthony's Corner Pub, is a neighborhood (Wilton Manor) gay bar tucked in at the end of an elderly, and it really does show its age, little strip mall on the west side of Andrews Avenue. Corner Pub is a rather generic type of gay neighborhood bar with nothing particularly special about it. It has the usual pool table, juke box type music containing tunes, mostly older, left over from the disco era, patrons who are mostly late thirty something on up, all very friendly mostly engaging in typical bar room conversation. They have pool (as in pool table) and dart meets, leagues, tourneys or whatever they may call them, provide a home bar site for the Stonewall Knights, which is a gay motorcycle club for gay aficionados of motorcycle riding, with all of the members who actual do have and ride motorcycles for their own fun as well as in neighborhood gay day parades and other social events. Being a neighborhood bar, the bar in Corner Pub serves as a social center for community talk, discussion and is active in things related to the gay community. Though well lighted inside, most everything is dark or painted black including the suspended ceiling tiles so typical to strip mall locations. There is a large rectangular bar with extremely friendly, competent bartenders serving very reasonably priced drinks. The pool table, juke box, a rack of local flyers and magazines plus a clutter of old boxes (I don't know why) are located near the rear. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall lot for the size of the crowd Corner Pub attracts, and with Island City Pizza next door, there is no problem in having your food order delivered to you right at the bar. It's clear that Corner Pub is meant to be and is a general gay neighborhood meeting bar, not into the frolic of or meant to be a gay tourist or wild life fun attractive place. It serves its community and the community in turn patronizes it. I wouldn't recommend it for tourists, those out seeking fun times, dancing, entertainment or out on the town nights because you'll probably get bored to tears, but if you just want a good drink, play a game of pool or catch up on local events, Corner Pub is an OK place to do that.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar away from the main strip. Always open to their true hours. Open 365 days a year. Friendly bartenders and patrons

Thom L.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood bar. Great bar staff. Only problem is they allow smoking inside and at times can be a bit over whelming and your eyes burn from all the smoke.

Yelp
So I travel all around the country and this place is a great dive bar with all the trappings. You've got a couple of pool tables, video gambling, TouchTunes jukebox and you can smoke inside! Not many places in this country still allow that so it's unique. Typical of Fort Lauderdale, it has an older clientele. Inexpensive drinks, friendly people. It's not Alibi, not Gym Bar so if that's the experience you want then go there. If you want a great smoky old school dive bar, then come here.

Yelp
I love this Bar & the owners couldn't be more caring & Lovable!! They care about the Community and help out.

Yelp
Only been in here during a weekday while driving by. 2 nice pool tables, a couple video games, and a jukebox. Big circular bar so lots of places for tired/retired men. Only locals here , they hang out and bring in lunch from the outside and commune. Yawn Can't beat all day happy hour during the week. 2.25 corona bottle. They definitely cater to the fixed income crowd. Not sure about the tacky storage shelf of junk toward the back. Sort of like my dad opened a bar in his den.

Yelp
I was told from a gay friend from CA to come here and I was NOT looking for Cubby Chaser Men, Leather Studs, Femal guys Type, YUCK! I date ONLY Badboys scraff type muscler hairy studs who is VERY buff and this place does NOT have it! This place is TOOOOOOOOOOO damm far from my home in Pembroke Pines Location! Plus, I am NOT a drinker at all! They did had a Juke box for music but did not care for BOARDING doctor music sorry to say! I like hip hop or really shaking you body not to go to sleep in! This place is good for Chubby Chaser, Leather and Femal men!

Yelp
This place is like home. It's small and the aren't a lot of frills, but it is comfortable, inexpensive, and friendly. The bartenders are welcoming and will remember you when you come back. The owners are charitable and host many events to give back to the community - and encourage the patrons to get involved which I think is great. They allow you to order food and have it delivered from next door, but don't be surprised if the owner brings you a plate of homemade cookies. They build community and treat you like family. Go with some friends; meet some new ones. Talk to the people sitting next to you, play a game of pool, play some music on the jukebox, and don't be surprised if someone sings along with you.

Yelp
If you're looking for I candy this isn't the bar for you. If you're looking for a bar that you can actually have a conversation with others instead of seeing the top of their head while they're on their phones talking to other people then this is the bar for you ! The bar itself is not something out of bar but the staff and the owners more than made up for it. The prices are extremely reasonable, somebody mentioned in the previousand it was good for people on a fixed income. That indeed is true but perhaps fixed income or not 15 dollars for a top shelf martini on the Drive didn't make me excited even with I candy . This most impressive qualities of this bar are the staff , the owners and the commodore that shines with the regulars. A hidden gem if you go to bars to have a drink and good conversation with a new person .

Great neighborhood watering hole and good part of community. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff. A must stop to check it out

Yelp
So today I went in here for the first time Ever. What a terrible decision. I just moved in down the street so I thought I'd check it out. My friend and I ordered drinks from the nice older bartender. We started to play Photo Hunt on the computer game screen. I tried to swipe my card to continue play, but it said it only accepted cash. My friend and I only had cards, so we asked people for a dollar. It's not the classiest move, but it was worth a shot. When I went to pee, I found myself surrounded by two men who accused me of being a hustler and shouting that I was just looking for money. I replied, they have my credit card, so what are you talking about?? I was then run off the property by the crazy, disgusting owner. I just moved here from NY and will never step foot in this establishment again. I will tell as many people as possible to avoid this dive. Shame on you. You're despicable business owners.

Yelp
Victor, the bartender, is awesome. If you get tired of the attitude at Ramrod or Alibi, come here for some kind words and inexpensive drinks. Coffee next door.

Yelp
This place is an absolute dive. I'm not one to just complain about a dive bar because they can be fun an enjoyable but not this place. They overcharge for their drinks and under pour on them. They are not ADA complient so if your in a wheel chair this isn't the place for you to go. I refuse to ever go back to this place.

Yelp
I live in wilton manors and have been to the corner pub many times. It has usually been a pleasurable and fun experience. Last Saturday was different. I felt threatened by another patron when he stated that he didn't like that I and my friends were standing at the bar behind him. I immediately left the area when he said "that's a black eye". I felt threatened and got as far away as I could without leaving the bar. I did not know if he would follow me and attack. I am not a young man. I reported this to the bartender. I was told by others that he was a "regular" and spends a lot of money there. Nothing was done and he was allowed to stay. I had planned to stay much longer but left with my friends. In my judgment the bar failed the safety test for me. I no longer feel safe there and will likely not return. I regret having this experience because I once liked this bar very much.

Yelp
Don't waste your time here...the staff is nice enough, but that's really where it ends. It's a total dive bar, and not in the fun way...however, if you're looking to feel better about yourself, based on your surroundings...stop in.

Robert Q.

Yelp
Hey, These guys care about the people in the community. I am so glad I met them.!! Thanks Guys!!!! Bob

Yelp
Whenever I visit my best friend in Wilton Manors we usually end out nights out having a few last drinks at The Corner Pub. The drinks are good and strong and the clientele is friendly. My other friend sucked a dick high on Tina right there at the bar, but I think that was atypical and probably not encouraged.

Yelp
I always feel there is no better feeling than having a local watering hole that helps when it comes to grabbing a quick drink and being close to home. I often frequent the Corner Pub and felt it was time to let the Yelpers know how much good this establishment does for the community. Anthony and Shannon are two of the most giving owners who have and continue to do good for the community and not only the gay community. Their efforts in raising money for the for various charities this Christmas went above and beyond while also giving back to the patrons in appreciation for their donations For some this bar may not have all the bells and whistles but for those who are regulars continue to come back because of the service, the employees and the fact that we can appreciate a place that welcomes you and also gives back to the community. Thank you very much Corner Pub.

Yelp
This bar is what it is and doesn't pretend to be something else. It's a favorite local hangout of many. It's not a Wilton Manor's twink bar, it's not a pretentious bar. It's a bar for having fun, good conversation, and a place where you can actually talk to people. I would much rather hang out here and have great conversation with the very nice bartenders, customers and owners, then spend a dime on Wilton Drive with pretentious bartenders and customers. This is a regular Joe's bar for sure. Besides being a great bar to actually have a conversation, play pool, video games, or Golf (yes they have a golf game), one of the things that impresses me most is the owners' dedication to giving back to the community. If there's a charitable event or a charity looking for help, these guys are in 1,000%. This is a neighborhood bar, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. It does very good doing what it's designed to be. No complaints here, and you won't find a nicer bartending staff anywhere in town.

Yelp
I updated this review - 5 stars because every time I come in here I meet the most friendly people. Drinks are excellent and reasonably priced.

Doug P.

Yelp
Friends and I have been to Corner Pub several times and have always enjoyed it. Its a neighborhood bar and must people are very friendly. Adrian is our favorite bartender. He's friendly and a great bartender. Last night we had a very bad experience. It was one of the patrons that is apparently a regular customer that spends a lot of money there. There were 4 of us and we were looking for a place to sit together at the bar. The regular patron was sitting in the corner and when we walked by trying to figure out where to sit said something about he didn't like people standing behind him and said that someone's eyes were going to be blackened. It made us all feel very uncomfortable. The bartenders heard the threat and asked the guy to never say that again. The bartenders boss talked to the guy but they never asked the guy to leave. We find this very unacceptable that an establishment would allow someone to threaten other patrons apparently because he spends a lot of money there. We had planned to stay longer but since the guy was not asked to leave they lost our business. It seemed apparent other people also heard what was going on and left as well. There are lots of bars in the area where you can go and feel safe. I hope the high dollar customer makes up for lost business for others.
