I like food. My weight and my doctor can both attest to the truthfulness of that statement. That being said, I always feel like I'm going to love whatever comes out of a restaurant that serves things I would eat as my only meal for the rest of my life, as well as food I wouldn't eat it if it had the antidote in it. Now with that opening line out of the way, let's get started.
The atmosphere rings as basic hole-in-the-wall pizzeria. Nothing special, noting stands out. Comes with seating, four walls, and a roof. I'm a simple man. You don't need to have fancy decoration or eclectic music playing in the background. I'm here to eat, not have a spiritual cleanse. 10/10.
For an appetizer, we ordered the Duck Fat Fries, White & Cheesy & Chorizo. The selling point for me was the fries and the cheese and the chorizo. They could be cooked in duck fat, pig fat, or Fats Domino, and I would eat them all the same. The fries were cooked in such a way that they held up to the cheese sauce, which was great because nobody wants immediate soggy fries. The serving of White & Cheesy was plenty enough to feel like I was eating fry soup. Not terrible, but I'm learning that me personally would rather have just enough sauce to cover whatever it is I'm covering, without going overboard. The chorizo was ok. A little dark and a little little. I'm also finding out that the best chorizo is moist and salty. This was really neither. 8.5/10
Now here's the skinny on my pizza. I'm picky and basic af. I'm a straight pepperoni, cheese, sausage guy. Doesn't matter if it's homemade, store bought, take out, or found in the street. However, I will try different pizza but typically only in a buffet style setting. My reasoning is as follows: I don't want to ruin my meal by getting a weird pizza I may not like. Now, because of that, we did skip over the Trust Us pizza, where they basically make you something they think you'll like. There was a little too much chance to be had with that. Instead, we settled on The #9 in the World. It had: boursin cheese, red sauce, andouille sausage, roasted red pepper, tasso ham, and cajun dust. The amount of toppings I liked overruled the amount of toppings I didn't like, so this was a safe bet. Super glad we ran with it. Perfect sized little slices, allowing the toppings to fit and spread out evenly, giving you all the flavor in every bite. This was a pizza I would certainly do all over again. 10/10.
