The 22 Best Turkish Restaurants In London

"The Counter serves Turkish food with exciting twists that work: babaganoush has white chocolate in it and tzatziki has a nice tang from pickles. The starters and small plates are the best part so bring a date to this low-lit Notting Hill spot—one who’s down to split sweet and salty clotted cream and the sensational pide bread starter." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing

The 19 Best Restaurants In Notting Hill

"The Counter, a low-lit, moody spot, does Turkish food with exciting twists that work, like white chocolate babaganoush and tzatziki with tangy pickles. While dishes like the dry-aged beef sirloin are perfectly cooked, we think the starters and small plates are the best part. So bring a date who’s down to split a bunch of quirky dishes, or a couple of close friends. Despite the restaurant's name, we’re fans of the lower seating where it feels like you’re part of the action without it being chaotic." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

The Counter - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"At this low-lit Notting Hill spot, being the first to arrive is a good thing. It means you get the whole romantic restaurant to yourselves; time to peruse the menu before it gets too rowdy to discuss it; and the chance to have a moment of silence for the sensational sweet and salty clotted cream and pide bread starter. The Counter serves Turkish food with exciting twists that work: babaganoush has white chocolate in it and tzatziki has a nice tang from pickles. While dishes like the dry-aged beef sirloin are perfectly cooked, we think the starters and small plates are the best part. So bring a date who’s down to split a bunch of quirky dishes, or a couple of close friends and order the clotted cream, pickled tzatziki, and cheese saganaki. And despite the restaurant's name, we’re fans of the lower seating where it feels like you’re part of the action without it being chaotic. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Rianne Shlebak

Party of 4, went for Brunch on Sunday. The service was great, the waitress went through the menu and suggested some popular dishes. The food was delicious, my favourite being the aubergine. The other guests enjoyed the chicken and lamb dish. It would have been nice if the bread was fresh. The price point is quite steep for the portion size. The Turkish coffee was tasty.

Fabulous Saturday night dinner. The food was delicious. The menu is Middle Eastern fusion with a twist. We shared four starters. I would highly recommend white chocolate babagaboush, pistachio muhammara and vine leaf bulgur. The hummus was ok but not as good as other dishes. For mains we had the Levantine chicken thigh, which was great, Adana kebab and liver skewers. The sides of almond pilaf rice and chopped salad were very good. We washed it all down with a bottle of good Portuguese wine. The service was fast and attentive. Can’t wait to go back.

Service lovely, atmosphere nice however the food, whilst well presented, was disappointing. I really regretted spending the money :( Chips were actually crisps - some very crispy rather than soft and very very salty with a very dominant tarragon (I think) flavour I didn’t enjoy. Adana meat skewer wrap - too much water in the wrap so bread was soggy, not spiced very well, salad in wrap was flavourless, no sauce in wrap. I suspect that those who like the food here don’t eat this cuisine often so may not have a point of comparison with what great Turkish food is like. London has outstanding Turkish / eastern fusion restaurants which are also cheaper - the counter simply cannot compete.

The service, food and ambiance were incredible ! We were warm welcomed, and the menu is original, great quantity. Best restaurant of our stay in London so far.

The riffs on Turkish food are fun and well executed, but also overdone. Every dish I tried had at least once unnecessary element that made it feel confused, chaotic: the zataar tasted too rough in the lush truffle honey; the dill oil was a pretty green colour but jarred with the smoothness of the white-chocolate-aubergine dip and tasted wilted; the fresh pomegranate on the lamb tartare was lost in the punchy nar sauce. In trying to be modern, it seems the cooks lost track of what makes Turkish cuisine so remarkable: punchy flavours and clarity of purpose.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I've found so far. Very good selection of wines, even Armenian and Turkish of course. The food was very delicious. Amazing taste and flavour. You can feel the love from the kitchen! Service absolutely perfect. We felt at home. Standing ovation.

Every single dish we ordered was super delicious. The quality of food and the experience that it offers definitely deserves a Michelin. We ordered vine leaf, houmous with pastrami, saganaki, adana, lamb chops and quince as the dessert. Also, we seated at the counter and had an opportunity to watch Chef Kamil and Chef Kemal - they are working very hard and are super diligent with their work! You can try having a quick chat about the food if you are sitting at the counter, of course not during peak times though! :) 10/10

It’s a small restaurant- cosy atmosphere. The food was average to be honest - the chips were more like potato sticks but were ok. The two stars rating is due to the fact that they asked us about three times to vacate as the table was booked for another party. You don’t spend over £360 to get thrown out. I shan’t be back thank you.
