The 22 Best Turkish Restaurants In London

"The Counter serves Turkish food with exciting twists that work: babaganoush has white chocolate in it and tzatziki has a nice tang from pickles. The starters and small plates are the best part so bring a date to this low-lit Notting Hill spot—one who’s down to split sweet and salty clotted cream and the sensational pide bread starter." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing

The 19 Best Restaurants In Notting Hill

"The Counter, a low-lit, moody spot, does Turkish food with exciting twists that work, like white chocolate babaganoush and tzatziki with tangy pickles. While dishes like the dry-aged beef sirloin are perfectly cooked, we think the starters and small plates are the best part. So bring a date who’s down to split a bunch of quirky dishes, or a couple of close friends. Despite the restaurant's name, we’re fans of the lower seating where it feels like you’re part of the action without it being chaotic." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

The Counter - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"At this low-lit Notting Hill spot, being the first to arrive is a good thing. It means you get the whole romantic restaurant to yourselves; time to peruse the menu before it gets too rowdy to discuss it; and the chance to have a moment of silence for the sensational sweet and salty clotted cream and pide bread starter. The Counter serves Turkish food with exciting twists that work: babaganoush has white chocolate in it and tzatziki has a nice tang from pickles. While dishes like the dry-aged beef sirloin are perfectly cooked, we think the starters and small plates are the best part. So bring a date who’s down to split a bunch of quirky dishes, or a couple of close friends and order the clotted cream, pickled tzatziki, and cheese saganaki. And despite the restaurant's name, we’re fans of the lower seating where it feels like you’re part of the action without it being chaotic. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute" - Rianne Shlebak

Absolutely loved this restaurant for dinner this past Friday night. It was not crowded and I don't know why. Atmosphere is lovely. Service is great. Food is exceptional. We had flatbread, bone marrow, rice pilaf, kibbeh, cheese saganaki, olives, pickles and then pistachio baklava & rice pudding for dessert. It was fantastic food and I would definitely return if I return to London! Highly recommend!

This was our second time here after more than a year, and it was a memorable experience. Traditional meze dishes were elevated to next level with unique touches. We very much enjoyed white chocolate baba ganoush and cacik. For mains, we got Adana and Kofte and both dishes were incredible. Service is also 100/10. Would highly recommend visiting!

We had a pleasure of finding this place as last minute plan. Great food and excellent service. A must try Turkish place in heart of Notting Hill London. Rich in flavours and very authentic taste. I prefer this restaurant over Cantene across the road. People at The counter are much more hospitable and very accommodating even when they are extremely busy. Loved every bite and my favourite was sea bass. A must go place

Great place that we found by chance. Group of 4 and we chose different plates. All were presented well and tasted good. Service was very good.

I have eaten in many places around portobello and london in general and none of them have an amalgamation of class, cool, excelling service and phenomenal culinary innovation as portobello s ‘the Counter’. Our waiter took us through the menu to which we followed his suggestions and every piece a unique take on turkish cuisine that i challenge anyone not to enjoy.

Party of 4, went for Brunch on Sunday. The service was great, the waitress went through the menu and suggested some popular dishes. The food was delicious, my favourite being the aubergine. The other guests enjoyed the chicken and lamb dish. It would have been nice if the bread was fresh. The price point is quite steep for the portion size. The Turkish coffee was tasty.

Sitting at the bar, right next to the open kitchen, gave us a front-row seat to the chefs’ impressive skills and dedication. Watching them work with such passion and precision truly added a special touch to our evening. Congrats to the kitchen amazing team! The service was equally outstanding. The staff was attentive and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. The food itself was exceptional—beautifully presented, bursting with flavors, and clearly crafted with care. The chefs’ hard work truly paid off in every dish. If you’re looking for a place that celebrates culinary artistry with an open kitchen experience, an absolute must-visit!
