Google
Their knowledge and expertise is unmatched. The older woman who took care of our order answered all my questions about the different steak cuts, which led me to order the t-bone steak, while my hubby ordered something else. About $20/lb is about average. Delicious meat, grilled to perfection. Awesome!

Got a smoked pig from there. It was amazing. The butcher shop in general is pretty awesome.

We've been going here since the beginning of pandemic when it was hard to get chicken and meat. It's a great little shop they have very fresh poultry and meats. They have a pretty good selection of things in their freezer section. Their calf liver is excellent, really like the fact that they have mini meatloafs to cook. Highly recommend them.

Exceptional quality and service. So clean and bright. Local produce. Meats are superior.

Google
The country butcher is an amazing place to get fresh high quality meats. Their ground sirloin makes the most insane burgers I have ever had. There are so many other items in the shop that are made locally like the dill beans that are worth the trip alone.

Google
World Class service and product. These folks take pride in all that they do and what they provide and produce speaks for itself with unmatched taste and quality. I have Utilized the pig roasting rental service and with a brief instruction from the team, I was very confident in doing it myself with their rented cooker. The final result was a perfectly roasted pig that was the hit of the party. The butcher counter and smoked products are also top notch and a much higher quality and cut/trim than what your common grocery store meat counter can provide. the catering service is also excellent and reasonably priced for home made sides and fresh baked goods. The staff is accommodating and extremely knowledgeable with cooking techniques , and the quantities needed for a large gathering or party. If you are sick and tired of mediocre service and quality control which is commonplace nowadays give The Country Butcher a shot and you will be very glad you did.

Google
The Country Butcher is the best meat shop around. Their smoked hams are delightful. Their beef is very tender & tasty. Definitely try their smoked brisket.

Stood at the counter and was ignored. The butcher finished with those ahead of us and then just walked away. Left us standing there until we left. Waste of time.

Yelp
Getting excited about ordering my corned beef for St. Patty's Day So delicious! They even are flexible to accommodate my pick up schedule! Great people!

Yelp
We had Country Catering cater our memorial gathering at the Arts of Tolland. The food was perfect: as delicious as it looked and smelled! We ordered salad, brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, as well as beans and mac and cheese. It was delivered during the service and while they were discrete and quiet, everything was set up and ready at the end of the service. Our guests were complimentary of every dish. And the apple cider donuts were a big hit - perfect for dessert as well as for those who were traveling home that night. I could not have asked for better food or better service. The Boyers do a great job. Thanks so much.

Yelp
My Wife and I have been coming here since they were in Ellington. We always get our Thanksgiving turkey from them. They have the best sausages, Kielbasa, Kummelwurst, and smoked knockwurst are my favorites. The beef jerky is also very good. Their Christmas bacon is a tradition for us every year. Usually they run-out, so get it when you can! You can't go wrong with anything that they make there.

Yelp
It was weird seeing the "Christian owned & operated" sign on the wall after pulling into the parking lot blasting Morbid Angel's "Gateways to Annihilation" album. But hey, it takes all kinds. Nice place overall. As others mentioned, they don't have the most extensive selection of meats, but everything seemed very high quality. They are seasonal - I went a week before Easter and they were loaded up with legs of lamb, corned beef, and Easter kielbasa. The lamb was $12/lb (deboned). You'll want to steer clear of their sweets. They have tons of re-branded candies made from partially hydrogenated palm oil and other quasi-industrial chemicals. You're paying for the quaint packaging - not for quality. They get 4 stars but just barely. I hope they will invest in another cooler section so they don't have to devote as much shelf space to candy and cutesy jams, spreads, etc.

Yelp
Fresh cut and cleaned pork, beef, chicken, and more! The Country Butcher has a handful of assorted local cheeses, condiments (jarred from local farms) and goodies spread throughout the store. It's a small venue, but they have everything you need to stock the refrigerator or freezer for a long time. Catering/party services available, and they are able to even spice and cut any of your orders to your liking! I left with a 5-rib, bone-in pork roast that was pre-spiced and it was DELISH! Although it is a little pricey, I will be back again! They warned us when walking in to buy well before the holidays, because they are usually sold out from the locals around then, throughout the year!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! It is literally out in the middle of nowhere. I probably never would have found this place if I hadn't been exploring back road ways to get to Costco in Enfield from Willington. Luckily I was taking this journey on a Friday since they are only open on Friday and Saturday. I zoomed past it, did a double take, then made a U-ie to go check it out. The Country Butcher is a family-owned operation specializing in beef and pork, although they sell other things, too. Their beef comes from Iowa (I think) from ranchers that do not use hormones or antibiotics and pledge to humanely treat the cattle. They do their own butchering in-house, and only sell prime and the highest grade of select cuts. This is not your supermarket beef. Their pork comes from PA. In addition to steaks and roasts, they also make a huge variety of sausages fresh every week (that's what they are doing the other days of the week). Also available are a veritable plethora of canned goods (such as pickled good and jams), smoked cheese (they don't make the cheese, but they smoke it!), Bell (& something) chickens, and eggs from their own pasture raised hens. If you live in or are passing through Northeaster CT on a Friday or Saturday, I urge you to travel a couple miles north of I-84 and pay homage to The Country Butcher.

Yelp
Attended a wedding over the weekend held at The Overlook at Geer Tree Farm that was catered by Country Butcher. Great job on all the food from before dinner snackie things to all of the entrees. The beef was perfect and the smoked chicken had great flavor and was perfectly moist. The staff from Country Butcher made sure everyone's needs were met and did it while not intruding. The Overlook is an amazing venue which I think is one of Connecticut's hidden gems. Congratulations Greg and Kaillie. Thank you for allowing us to share your day.

Yelp
I decided to stop in to see what they had. There were three people working and no one said "hello". I poked around to see if I wanted anything then and also to see what they had to plan ahead to come back when I wanted something I saw another time. I didn't need any meats at the time but would have come back later. They have lots of dressings and canned items and I picked up a couple of squash. I put them down at the register and waited...was not even a knowledged by the person who was having a personal conversation with others. She finished her conversation, came around the back and then nodded to someone else working to have them ring me out. I didn't expect her to ring me out herself but if you work at, or own, a business, you don't have customers wait while you're chatting. You at least acknowledge the person and get someone else to help them. He was very nice so I added a star but I don't see going back. This place has great reviews so maybe that's not the norm but I don't think I'll bother to go back.

Yelp
Stopped by for a couple of steaks while vacationing in the area, left with ri eyes, bacon, potato & pasta salads, smoked pork chops, and ham steaks. Ribeyes were wonderful and the house smoked meat is off the HOOK good. Best ham steaks I've ever had, hands down. Beautiful smoke flavor that doesn't overwhelm the meat. If I had known they were that good I would have bought at least half a dozen and taken them home for the freezer. And that hickory smoked pepper bacon... Great place, friendly staff.

Yelp
Attended a wedding over the weekend that was catered by The Country Butcher. The food couldn't have been any better. Loved every bit from the tasty potatoes to the amazing sirloin. I would definitely recommend and use them in the future.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place! They have the best sausage I have ever had. In fact, I have no complaints about any of there products. The lady at the counter told me how to cook everything I got and it all came out perfect! I go there every week to get my meats. And if you stop in on Saturdays, be sure to get their apple cider doughnuts, they are to DIE for!

Austin B.

Yelp
I've had just about everything available at the country butcher over the past 20+ years, not much has changed besides the location! If you want to get steaks or any other cut of meat, ready to impress a crowd, look no further! They also offer some of the best jerky and hotdogs you'll find anywhere! Definitely the place to get meat for any special occasion, and dont be afraid to give them a call any day of the week if you're looking for larger orders and they'll have them ready fresh, when ever you need!

Yelp
I was at a wedding yesterday and I was very excited when I found out these guys were the caterers. I've been to many events where the food is terrible. NEVER THE CASE with THE COUNTRY BUTCHER. Not only is their food top notch, they are polite, and go the extra mile. The owner and staff were there early and stayed late. I had a taste of everything down the line: the salad was fresh, the rolls were "French style" - crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the little potatoes were a nice treat, is it possible to make bake beans taste wonderful ? - yes it is, if you are the Country Butcher (Yummm!!), and the beef was so tender I cut it with a fork, and it melted in my mouth! I had seconds along with several of my table mates. I will definitely recommend THE COUNTRY BUTCHER to family and friends - no worries there.

Yelp
6 stars if possible - If you are looking for incredibly delicious sausages & bacon as well as steaks - shop no further. I lived in Germany for several years & have such fond memories of going to the outdoor market place & getting a grilled sausage with my parents. I found this buthcher when he was in Ellington & bemoaned the fact when the store closed (BIG Y moved in jusr down the street) It was the only place I knew of to get fresh auithentic bockwursts, knockwurst & Brats of all types. Steven has competed & WON! in germany with his sausages. The bacon is like nothing you have even had before. My favorite is the black pepper bacon. & you can buy ends which are odd shaped chucks of bacon. perfect for dicing for saladm BLTs, & I use instead of salt pork in chowders. Husbad and I were thrilled they day we found them again. The store also sells speciaity items from chocolate to pickled egss. Worth the trip even if its just once ( But we know you'll be back) He also help out the hunters when vension is in season and are active in the community. Just not a store part part of the community

Yelp
rented a pig roaster this weekend! They gave great advise about what to do and what you would need. i was just really disappointed with the fact that the gauges on the equipment i rented we broken!!!!! When i got the cooker home and started my first pig roast!!! i was nervious and had a party of 60 people coming! i woke up early and started the coles and prepared the pig! Put it on only to find out the gauge on the equipment was broken.....this is a VERY IMPORTANT part of the process....TEMPERATURE! !!!!! i worked thru it stresssed out!!!!! Got it done and everything turned out fine. But when i brought this to the attention of the owner upon return......His response was all the gauges are broken. i found that to be offensive!!! Sorry but you are renting me the equipment i expect it to WORK!!!!!!! if you know the gauges are broken.....THAN FIX THEM!!!!! This is a part of renting equipment! You put me at a disadvantage out of tue gate!!!!!! i was able to over come the major problem!!! THANK GOD! !!! 60 happy people latet! i understand you prefer to cook the pig but dont cook the guy renting the equipment to do it!!! YELP 101!!!!

Yelp
I was planning a Labor Day party and wanted to do something different. I had the idea of doing a pig roast! Looking online, asking people, trying to figure out how to do it was absolutely deflating. I asked everyone I knew in town and they all recommended Tolland Country Butcher. I went down there and spoke with the owner Steve, who's family has been doing this for generations. He completely put me at ease, by saying 'I will not let you leave here until you are 110% comfortable with everything'. I ordered a 60lb pig with a brand-new tag along smoker trailer, picked it up, and followed Steve's directions to the letter. Everything came out perfect! From the sauerkraut and kielbasa stuffing inside, the golden brown skin, to every succulent marinated bite of pork, everything was delicious. They took care of it all, all I had to do was start the smoker and put the pig on, that's it! Its the easiest thing I've ever done cooking-wise, and all of my friends thought I spent all this time and preparation; I came out smelling like a rose. The price, courtesies, and knowledge completely matched their reputation. I will be doing a pig roast every year from now on.
