The Courtyard Grill

Tried to book a reservation for Friday night and place was all book up. Showed up anyway and we sat at the bar. Eric our bartender/waiter provided excellent service. Food was delicious! If you're going make a reservation.

Open 7 years on Flagler Ave and I’ve never heard of them. Now I know why. I should have known bc there were no customers besides us there at 6:30 pm. First we ordered a bottle of Alexander Valley Chardonnay which I am familiar with. Before I even realized the screw top bottle was opened and poured into 2 glasses and the waitress is asking if I need a chiller. No wine bucket, no making sure we saw her opening it, no taste first. As soon as I tasted it I felt like I was drinking a cheap Pinot Grigio from a box. I asked her if she could bring a new bottle and let us watch and listen to her open it. She suggested the house Chardonnay saying it was a more buttery Chard. We acquiesced. We ordered mussels in white wine, garlic with spinach, bacon and goat cheese. My girlfriend immediately said they were over boiled which is what is done when they won’t open. Sure enough there were 4 unopened dead mussels at the bottom of the plate. We then ordered their famous sticky ribs. The first one I bit into was cold and the second one warmer and so on. Very clearly reheated in a microwave causing hotspots. Finally, gluttons for punishment we ordered the porterhouse pork chop. She asked us what temp we wanted it which is weird for pork. She said “medium ok?” We said ok. When we cut into it it was raw. We couldn’t chance eating it. She then came over and said “you’re not satisfied with this either when she saw me taking pics of it. We said we were not willing to chance getting sick. So she said they would cook it more. 5 minutes later it was back and still raw. This restaurant is really playing with fire serving old mussels and raw pork to people. I don’t know how they haven’t killed anyone but after I really searched the reviews I saw someone write that they were sick for days. The waitress took the pork chop off the bill but it was still a complete waste of $70. The myriad of 5 star reviews are bought and payed for in my opinion. Stay away!!!

Good food , 7/10 marinara sauce like all other taste from Can :) sour and strong Service 7/10 the service as are server was great . Unfortunately on front desk or hosted was no body , lot of people came to be attended but no body there :( Atmosphere 7/10 , it is nice small cozy place like it

Our favorite restaurant in NSB! Staff is always friendly and attentive. (Yay Tabitha & Melanie) The food is always so delicious! Chef Glen is an artist! Our #1 choice for dinner is their 20 oz. pork chop & fries. I don’t know what kind of magic he uses but it’s always satisfying and scrumptious! Also, be to also order a BOWL, not a cup, of their clam chowder! You’ll thank me for that tip.

We stopped in on our last night in NSB for the season. Read the reviews and had to try. We are so happy we did! The staff and chef were so friendly and welcoming. Our dinner was delicious…starting with sticky ribs (pictured), seriously best clam chowder ever, and yummy pasta dinner. All in all…great dinner and even better people. Can’t wait to return.

Place with charming and gentle atmosphere. Preparation of our meal did take some time but it was worth it. Make sure to try sweet potato puffs, I was pleasantly surprised with the taste! Loved the location, outdoor seating without wind&street sounds. Our waiter Jess was great! Would absolutely come back!

I had the special, crispy duck and lamb chops. It came with a sauce on the side. My wife had the scallops. They were huge, cooked correctly and the portion size of 6 was a great value. All of the food was cooked perfectly, service was excellent and the live entertainment was amazing. NSB has a lot of great dining options and The Courtyard Grill deserves a place with the best of them. We will definitely do it again.

Needed to try courtyard again and it didn't disappoint. Small quaint restaurant with a small but quality menu. Andrea ordered the shrimp scampi and I had the big pork chop. Excellent... I score a 7.8774. Don't miss this hidden place.

This is a really charming restaurant with seating in the courtyard of their building (the name really matches the description)! It was a Saturday evening so the restaurant was faily busy! We were promptly greeted and seated ! we definitely enjoyed our seats close to the steel drum playing musician !!! we started off with a nice cabrenet bottle and then tried the muscles with delicious baked bread! Also the scallops were just about perfect! Overall the prices were so reasonable too! I would highly recommend this locally owned spot for a delicious meal and ambiance!!!

The best Saturday night, dining experience, food, and entertainment beyond was amazing. Food was great. You must go there DANIEL the entertainer should be in New York City establishment, entertaining famous people.

Great service! They have the best Courtyard Musssels in a feta, lemon and a wine garlic sauce. I tried their clam chowder(loaded with clams) and Caesar salad with Garlic butter pasta with cherry tomatoes, shrimp and sirloin tips. My husband had their chicken florentine with green beans in a garlic sauce. We finished with a take home piece of carrot cheese cake. Great ambience with a jazz singer on Friday nights.

Food was outstanding, and the service was great. Nice spot on Flagler. Mussels, chowder and the swordfish steak made for a terrific meal

Tried this place for the first time and it's in a really cute little courtyard (hence the name). They also had live music playing which made for a nice touch. Before I get started on the food I will talk about their COVID protections. They are using paper one time use menus and distancing the tables. However they are not requiring masks and NONE of their employees wear masks. This was very concerning and made me super uncomfortable considering Florida's high numbers. Perhaps people in NSB don't care about COVID but visitors from other counties and states might so they should consider this. Moving on to the food. I tried the special which was the duck and lamb. This was very delicious. For the side I got the sweet potato puffs which are basically tots and comes with a cinnamon sugar butter- wonderful! I chose the soup as my appetizer and it wasn't my favorite. I'm not a fan of oregano or rosemary and it definitely had at least one of those seasonings in it making it taste more of an Italian clam chowder. However my mom loved it, so it depends on your tastes. My dad got the Caesar salad and he enjoyed it.

Courtyard does it right! Best clam chowder ever. Main menu & specials are really good. Great service with an outside feel. Stop in and check them out.

Learned that the previous owners had sold the business. It was reflected in the menu, pricing and overall service. It worries me when a chef takes ownership, so many times things go wrong and this sale did not escape that hurdle. Prices are up, portions are down, menu changed too much. Ambiance is still great when it's cool outside for seating. Great guitarist tonight, easily eclipsed the food. Very disappointed with overall experience tonight. I do not think we will be coming back, well at least not with guests.. One more try in the future. But this is not the place Ray and Ivanka created. Miss the friendliness and menu.

The best value in New Smyrna Beach, the veal chip was perfectly cooked. My wife's sea scallops were fresh and tasty. We both enjoyed our sides (clam chowder and ceasar salad). We enjoyed our wines (a Chardonnay and a Cabernet).

Ate here on a Friday night and the singer saxophonist is amazing! The best dish I have ever had in Volusia County is the Shrimp Fra Diavalo here. If you love spicy Italian food it is the best I've ever had. Their clam chowder is also excellent. Service is spot on- Thank you Tabitha. Only wish they had a full liquor bar rather than just wine and beer.

During a weekend getaway in New Smyrna Beach, we came upon this little place. We where walking on the Main Street and heard some amazing live music. We followed it to find a great musician and a charming courtyard restaurant. We decided to get a table and we were so glad we did! The fair is Italian, large portions and deliciously authentic We will definitely be back...Maybe tomorrow night because they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. LOL

We were headed to the Garlic for dinner. When we got there we found that everyone else on the coast was already there. A quick look at Yelp and the Courtyard grill popped up. It was just what we wanted. This little gem is hidden away but worth the effort to find it. I am sorry to say it is for locals only (Joking). We sat at the bar and met David, he greeted us and told us about the menu, specials, and then served us dinner. I had the Strip steak, she had the pork chop. I have to say it was perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and tasty. The Porterhouse Pork Chop was great too and dinner for two all by itself. We sat inside where there is 3 smaller tables and the bar, most tables are outside in a covered courtyard. They were setting up for music as we left. This is a wine and beer restaurant with some choices of wine based drinks. I am happy to give the Courtyard 5 stars and we will be back again.

If my review was based off the level of service, the amazing staff, and the wonderful flavors here, this place deserved a 5 star review for sure. The NY Strip was incredible. The mashed potatoes were perfect. The sauce for my Duck Duck Lamb was unbelievably good. The only hiccup was that my lambchops were extra tough and chewy. Hard to eat them honestly. But dang it, the chef and our waitress were freaking amazing.

Stumbled upon this little gem. Food is amazing. Service is top notch and the Saxophone player is excellent. Went back a second time a week later and was not disappointed. Again everything we ordered was fresh and service was great. It's an intimate little setting in a courtyard with great food and entertainment.

AWESOMENESS on a plate!!!! My hubby and I are sooo happy we took a chance and pop in for a meal while out on our HD.

A wonderful evening celebrating a birthday. The food was fantastic. Service was great and the music was wonderful. My first time there and it was perfect. Everyone should try it out.

My review is long overdue. It was my first time in New Smyrna Beach and this was my favorite restaurant while we were there (7 days) during Spring Break 2022. We ate here twice and I found the seafood / sausage pasta to be epic and the owner came out and enjoyed a beverage with us during one of our visits. Everything cooked to order with love and an intimate dining experience that left a big impact.

We had wine while we listened to some great live music. The swordfish special was great - the buttery lemony peppery sauce was incredible. Usually the green beans are hard to get right but they totally delivered on tender crisp and buttery. The shrimp appetizer was also fabulous, with bread that you dip into the broth that came with it. We had a great meal and wine and music. Great place to be on a Friday night.

Asked to seat a party of 4, Hostess indicated it would be an hour wait. Hostess did not write our names down and when we inquired about it, she noted that we did not need to leave our names and she would remember us. We said that'd be fine, and came back in 55 minutes. When we returned we were informed that a table was not available because she had seated several walk ins, and that it would be an additional 30 minute wait. Left without having dinner. Could not trust this establishment. Recommend checking out any of the other great dining options on the island before trying to deal with this restaurant.

Today is my birthday and I felt safe and very welcoming we are in a shut down now but our outdoor restaurants and restaurants with outdoor seating are allowed to be open

Good for groups but not for duo dinners. Absolutely the worse dining experience of my life. Seated next to a window between courtyard and inner room. No one in inner room by window when seated. Didn't know there was a table there. Then while dining, a couple was seated in the window. Absolutely bizarre! There is a shade but manager explained they don't like to pull it because it affects the ambiance of those seated in the inner room (who apparently like to peer out on other diners). There was zero compassion for the diners already in the courtyard but on the other side of the window. The waitress admitted it was a problem and has been a point of concern. The shade is there. Just pull it down and let people dine in peace. Glad it wasn't more expensive because I didn't eat my meal. I normally don't suffer from anxiety, but this was an anxiety inducing experience. So disappointed!

The environment is very clean and elegant. Literally in a courtyard, Courtyard Grill has a central location in a street-side strip. The seating is very limited but it's necessary, as the venue is pretty tiny to start. I dined here with a group of friends (9) after our initial choice had a one hour wait. We called Courtyard Grill ahead and made our choice to eat here because there was no wait. Little did we know... The waitress took 10 minutes to take our drink order and another 15 minutes to actually get our drinks. After sitting for nearly 30 minutes we finally ordered our food. It only took another HOUR to get our food. So after and hour and half of sitting we finally get to eat, realizing that going to our first choice would've been much more beneficial (and cheaper). If the restaurant was busy I would partially understand the wait, but only two other tables were sat the entire time. The food was good and elegant. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi with a cup of Clam Chowder. I felt overcharged for it, as the portion size was pretty small. On a different note, the menu was pretty large but the restaurant was out of a lot. Only two New York Strips were in stock, and bubbly water and Baguettes were out. Apart from the incredible wait for food that ended up feeling overpriced, our waitress was pretty attentive with drinks and offered us small pieces of bread and fries to make up for the Baguette that was supposed to come with the food. I am disappointed in the efficiency and organization of this restaurant, and expected much more from such a pricey and classy place.

3/2/19 We arrived right before 8pm, atmosphere at on point. Live music performer was amazing !! unfortunately the service & food was not so great. After waiting over 40++ mins for our food, everything came out cold. My steak that I ordered medium' came out well done etc. our server was not attentive at all. Only saw him twice, when he took our orders & when he came to bring us the check. The food runner was very nice as he dropped off our food & asked if we needed anything else, before he left, we might give this place another try since we really did enjoy the atmosphere & live music.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. Wonderful ambience, outstanding menu and beautiful music. A "must go" place when you're in New Smyrna Beach!

We came here for dinner on a Friday! Awesome love music and wonderful service from Madison. I had the award winning clam chowder which was delicious! My husband ordered the grilled grouper which was the special, and it was phenomenal! I had the shrimp scampi which was also very good! We will definitely be adding Courtyard Grill to our list of restaurants to return to when visiting New Smyrna Beach!

Amazing! Left a message earlier in the day stating that we were interested in reservations for that evening. Received a very prompt callback made a reservation, and the food was amazing. The service was great. And the entertainment was awesome. We highly recommend this restaurant!

I have loved this outdoor restaurant in the past. Last night none of there wait staff was wearin a mask and the food was horrible. I wouldn't recommend going anymore.

The food was so bad - don't waste your money. What a disappointment. It's no wonder that there was hardly anyone eating there.

Good atmosphere and great food and service. Started out with the mussels which were insanely delicious and a great portion. Tried the clam chowder, of course, which was also fabulous. I could have stopped there but I wanted to also try the lamb lollipops. Again worth it. My husband got the shrimp scampi pasta which was great. We will be coming back!

Had a delightful Mother's Day dinner here. The salad was not skipping on the parmesan and it added the right amount of saltiness for a great meal start. The seafood Bisque was more like a chowder. It was thick, rich and filled with many pieces of assorted seafood delights. We had the lobster tails special and also one with steak. The lobster was cooked perfectly and seasoned with care. The sweetness of the lobster meat was deliciously paired with a salty herb butter. The steak was exactly how I like it and was juicy and tender. I don't know who is doing the cooking here, but I think you should hide the salt and pepper shakers at the table because you are seasoning foods to perfection. The service, may be a bit quirky but had tons of local charm and it seemed everyone dining there were completely relaxed and having a nice time. I know this is a family business and you are all doing something very special here. A true hidden gem in this beach town. Well worth the trip and I can't wait to come back again this week.

We had no idea there was this hidden little gem tucked off of Flagler. It is an open dining concept with tables and a nice breeze. The wine list is awesome and the house wine was solid. My dad said he's been here a bunch of times and nothing disappoints but he doesn't want everyone to know and then he won't be able to get a table lol. I ordered the scallops and they were perfect, and it came with sautéed Brussels which were the vegetable of the day and fantastic.

Sometimes you find a local restaurant that hasn't fully established itself yet, but after spending a relaxing evening here with friends and chatting with the owner it was oblivious that this place has all the elements to become a local favorite. The owners of this recently opened Wine Bar & Cafe have created a casual eatery that combines a cozy inside bar with a beautifully designed covered courtyard This is the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a wide variety of wines or a few premium ice cold beers all while snacking on a few items off the creative menu, that promises to never disappoint. The cheese and meat platters are very nicely done and the flat breads are nothing less than incredible, add in some local live entertainment and there's no doubt your time here will be memorable.

Gave it a shot, and it paid off. I had the best pork chop I have had, and my wife had amazing mussels. The bonus was really excellent music to accompany it.

Food was amazing. Impecible presentation. The last time I had a piece of swordfish as good was over 30 years ago in Rhode Island. Staff is friendly. Prices reasonable. The restaurant has been open only 5 months. We just happened upon it while strolling Flagler after diner. A couple just leaving raved about it so we made plans to try it another evening.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Hidden treasure. It's one of the best restaurants in NSB. And one of the few restaurants that takes reservations.

This gem is in a courtyard on Flagler Avenue that always called my attention. We walked by on a Friday night and the sound of a saxophone and piano drew us in. We stayed to hear the sweet sounds of Daniel "Saxman" Fuqua and J Music Carson and have the delicious New England clam chowder filled with clams! We came back the next day for dinner and had the southwestern pork shoulder soup which was delicious with the right amount of spice. The sliced portobello mushrooms stuffed with crab meat were delicious! My partner had the Porterhouse pork chop with shredded sautéed brussel sprouts. I liked the doneness of it but my partner would have liked it a little more rare which I didn't think so. The house salad was a nice bed of field greens with cherry tomatoes and red onions with blue cheese dressing on the side which I appreciated, served with a warm delicious baguette. I had the lollipop lamb chops which were perfectly cooked with balsamic based sauce. The bread pudding was homemade with fresh flavors. Owners Ray and Yvonne were very attentive and helpful as was the rest of the staff. Looking forward to returning and trying the chicken Florentine!

I took my daughter and a party of 5 here for my daughters birthday. We were at this place for over three hours and never got to eat our food. We got appetizers and salads, the croutons were hard as rocks ive never had anything so stale and the lettuce tasted like rot, I didnt eat it and warned everyone else. THey ended up putting our dinners in boxes to take home because they were closing. We never got to eat them at home either because three out of five of our party become violently ill from food poisoning. I called the owner to tell him what happened. He could not have cared less. He said the food ''takes a long time on purpose so people can enjoy their drinks''. He could not care less that i was sick for three weeks and could have died. I havent gone out to eat in this area since, and will never again. I am sick and tired of being ripped of by scumbags. He is lucky i didnt sue him and when he kills someone that will be the end of it.

Stopped at n to have a glass of wine & thanks to joejoe stayed for dinner. Awesome service & shave the special of 1 1/2 lb porterhouse with house veggies & salad. Outdoor seating & great food would definitely return. Bread was fantastic.

Food is always fresh and creative. Sangria is excellent. Music and atmosphere are relaxing and enjoyable.

We heard wonderful reviews about the Courtyard Grill so we had to try it. Hidden off the busy street of Flagler Ave you will find this gem in its quiet courtyard. We were greeted promptly by there friendly staff who went over the daily specials. We decided on Clam Chowder, Sticky Ribs, Surf N Turf, Caesar Salad and the Chicken Florentine. Even the Chef came out to say hello. Everything was fabulous and we will certainly be back

Eight of us had dinner and we had ribs, scallops, pork chops, and a massive hamburger. Everyone of us had nothing to say except everything we had was awesome. Will definitely come back again. We sat front and center next to the fireplace, which was an unexpected pleasure.

Definitely a diamond in the rough. We went for an early dinner. The service was top notch and very friendly. The musician/piano player was awesome. We felt like family from the time we arrived. The food was beyond delicious all of us absolutely loved our meal. We will definitely be going back!

Not great but not bad. Had shrimp and pasta which was ok. You guys need to learn how to make tea. I was served basically water with a bit of brown color, wtf? If you get the tea wrong I'm wondering what's up on the kitchen. Service was a lifesaver thus the 3 stars.

Great atmosphere great FANS outside so your not HOT!! JAZZ band was awesome people we're great mimosa's we're drinkable and nice and the bloody Mary's we're bloody!!! Yasssssss SSS!!!!!!!
