Inside El Rey, Navy Yard’s Hottest New Waterfront Oasis | Eater DC

"A 40,000-square-foot, cabana-covered beach bar along the same scenic stretch featured yard games, bucket swings, a DJ pavilion, and multiple bars and opened to much acclaim in summer 2023. Per a statement from B Social Hospitality: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Cove’s short-term lease may come to an early close,” adding an exact date has not been announced. The closure appears to be partially induced by a fast-moving residential takeover of its prime real estate that formerly housed Bardo Brewing. B Social, the nightlife group behind other local projects, hopes to “reimagine and reintroduce The Cove in a new space in the future” and will “share more details as plans develop.”" - Tierney Plumb

I heard about this place and I couldn’t wait to try it out. One of our friends lives in the neighborhood and she really recommended it. I invited some of my coworkers over and we had a blast. The outside had a real nice feel. It almost feels like we were down the ocean. The food was very delicious and the service was great. We will definitely come back.

Tried this place on a Friday early evening. Food was good, tried a few things, the wings were very good, baked/dry rub type thing(ordered hot), calamari was good, crispy, a little plain, but with sauce was better; bang bang shrimp was nice, sauce is great, also got Maryland crab soup which was pretty good but missing a little more flavor, needs old bay for a good kick, also noticed that it had no potatoes, so if you like it without potatoes there it is. Overall nice atmosphere, like the decor, there’s an outdoor space in the sand going out to the water. They have life music on certain days so definitely worth checking out.

I feel like this may be the next it place in the area. Lots of good vibes with plenty of space outside and inside. The service was exceptional and homely if that makes sense. I got the grilled octopus app and chicken ceaser sandwich as an entree. The octopus was delicious perfect but a bit overcooked. The sandwich was perfect and a perfect portion. I will definitely be back! This was on a slow Wednesday night. They do have a stage for live music so I'm sure if that's your vibe you'd also enjoy this.

Very nice place. Drinks were good, great bartender. The drink prices were good for the area. We didn't order food, what we saw coming out of the kitchen looked great, especially the burgers. But the food was a little pricey, so we skipped the meal this time. But we'd definitely go back.

The Cove recently opened near our home on Millers Island so we have been excited to check it out! Our first try was a couple of Wednesdays ago since it is “Locals Night” but unfortunately was a bust; they were closed! So bummed. We ended up heading there rather late on a Saturday night in early June. Knowing that the restaurant only recently opened, we were prepared to experience a few hiccups. We love the decor: a large wall behind the stage area features a huge mural of the Francis Scott Key bridge which was infamously knocked down by a container ship in March of 2024, making it very near and dear to the hearts of Baltimoreans near and far. The vibe is comfortable and relaxed featuring mood lighting, some industrial lighting (paying homage to the area’s history of once being the location of Bethlehem Steel, perhaps?) and warm wood accents. There a large indoor dining area where the large bar is located, as well as outdoor seating on the water. Our server seemed new ( disorganized and forgetful) but very nice. Everything was slow: service, drinks and food. Two of us tried the $12 oranges crush buckets which did not disappoint. A glass of resulting and a beer rounded out the drinks. We started with 2 orders of wings. They were crispy, as requested, but they seemed to be heavily spiced and floured, which the buffalo sauce was then poured over. Not my favorite way for them to be prepared but still tasty. My entree was Bang Bang shrimp which we very good but could have come with a lot more lettuce if they were trying to replicate the original dish. My husband got their double cheese burger which seemed to be a frozen patty on a fresh roll with typical fixings. It came with fries which were just ok. The other couple ordered the crab cake sandwich. They found it to have a nice flavor but there was a lot of filler. We are looking forward returning again in the near future, during the day to see how this new business is faring. Can’t wait to try out Locals Day specials (15% off up to $30) or Happy Hour. There isn’t any access by boat yet. There are plans to get the cove area dredged and the pier repaired sometime next year which will definitely allow more patrons to visit.

This was our first time. Great staff. Food was great, great turn around. I could complain about the crush, but most bars seem to elect to go with syrup as opposed to actual crushed fruit. I'm sure it's cheaper, I just miss the traditional crush. It's Maryland. We gotta get crushes right don't we? Looking forward to going back for some live music

A new local restaurant opened up between Dundalk/Edgemere; "The Cove." We had off work early and went. The food was delish!!! We were both surprised to find great queso and fresh chips. We live close enough we might just go grab that as a snack sometimes 😁 They have a big stage for a band, so I presume there's live music there sometimes, but I don't know when. I think I saw a sign that said something about karaoke.

My wife and I were excited to try The Cove for the first time, and while the atmosphere was great, the experience overall fell short. We grabbed seats at the bar where the bartender was excellent—friendly, attentive, and clearly doing their best despite being overwhelmed. After a drink, we moved outside hoping to order food, but despite waiting 30 minutes, a staff member never came by. It was clear the staff was stretched too thin and trying their best, and we weren’t the only ones affected—several tables appeared to be in the same situation, with guests leaving or still waiting on food. All this is to say, The Cove could be a great spot, but the lack of staffing and slow service makes it feel as though it opened before it was fully ready.

Yelp
Waitress was nice but service was so slow. 45 mins for a beer. Wings were great. Jambalaya was horrible. 6.00 for a can of beer???? Ridiculous. I wish them well, beautiful building but not worth the price.

Yelp
Went to the opening night and the kitchen was closed. We didn't get there late. Didn't see a menu. House wine was really expensive. $8 for a half pour. The service didn't stand out. Ambiance was okay. As a regular in Edgemere I feel as if it is too expensive for the area. I suppose they are trying to attract another type of clientele. The location is great. Was hoping for something more affordable.
