The Covington Restaurant

10/10 recommend grabbing dinner here if you can. I’m not one to order bolognese but it was delicious as well as the seafood fettuccine. I’ll be returning every year.

I would give The Covington more than 5 stars if I could! The decor is simple and elegant, but the food is out of this world. We shared the fish special (meant for 2-3 people) and it was perfect for two of us with big appetites. We also enjoyed the sweet and spicy cucumbers, marinated olives, halibut tartare, and the honey pie. I'm a dessert connoisseur, and this honey pie did not disappoint me!

This place was so delicious. Drink service was incredible and included a wonderful rum selection. Food was creative and delicious. No food allergy issues for me here! Accommodating.

Delicious food with fresh ingredients. We ordered the spicy cucumber salad, which beat expectations, the olive spread, and halibut. The halibut had a beautiful salty crust and was cooked perfectly. For dessert, we ordered the honey pie, which was light and not overally sweet, and was paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's definitely worth checking out.

I now have a new favorite restaurant! Covington has exceptional staff, amazing flavors and combinations, top notch freshness, and is an all-around fantastic place. We actually went back for dinner here during our four night stay because it was that good, and we wanted to try the other dishes. We shared the sweet potato rolls, squash and beans, smoked beets, garden salad, basil and walnut pesto ricotta gnocchi, and mushroom ragu. All were amazingly delicious and presented quickly and beautifully. Both evenings we dined outside at a lovely little side table. This place is hard to beat! I would give it six stars if I could.

Just wanted to leave a review saying that there are a lot of gluten free options — we were just told to stay away from the bread and one other dish. Pasta, risotto etc can be made gluten free. (I did not clarify if there’s cross-contamination, but I would recommend calling for that clarity if you need it). Altogether the food & cocktails were delicious and unique. Great decor, music, and service. Will be going back!

Wow! The food is amazing! Hard to believe but the artisan sourdough bread with the spread was indescribably delicious! The smoked beets appetizer was also a taste sensation. The halibut was tasty Some great drinks too Highly recommend!

What a good find! The food is the best I've tried on the island. Above and beyond with flavors and variety of ingredients. I had the seafood homemade pasta that was absolutely delicious. I will be back! Oh, and staff was incredibly polity and attentive, better than average. EDIT: August 2022. Food is still delicious, service was very slow.

Great meal, solid service. The cocktail menu had some nice twists, bread service was great apps/shared plates were on point. Particular shout out for three sisters "salad" which was a recommendation from server. Outstanding.. entrees were good but the apps and shared plates (smoked eggplant dip, beet salad, and 3 sisters) were the stars of the evening. Our booth table was a little tight for 4 people. An outside table would be the recommended spot if you can snag one.

This was a nice spot to grab a fancy dinner. The food was good, with standard options you'd expect. Love the ambiance and as expected service is stellar.

The menu here is eclectic - there's some pasta, some Asian inspired dishes, some southern inspired dishes, etc. We got the bread service, sweet and spicy cucumbers, three sisters, bolognese, and mushroom ragu. The cucumbers were very good. Three sisters was creative but not our favorite because it was very squash heavy and had perhaps too many sauces. Overall, the prices are simply too steep - we live in Manhattan and can get better pasta dishes for less than the price Covington is charging. Service was fine. Friendly for the most part but he definitely forgot about us once we ordered our food, as he never checked in again. It was an ok experience

Outstanding. Completely outstanding. Who would've thought that a menu item as simple as a beet could be turned into such a culinary delight. They have a smoker in the kitchen and its only job throughout the day is just to smoke beets for their incredible beet salad. Are you kidding me???? That's the kind of attention to detail that this restaurant has and that every other restaurant should strive for. Details, like the servers knowing every inch of the menu. Details, like house baked sweet potato table bread. It was insane, totally insane. A perfect way to celebrate an anniversary weekend. Our server was a Serbian all star... every other server should take notes... it was a level above

We ate there last night. The food was fantastic and our waiter was sp professional and awesome. I was very upset at the hostess though for seating us at the very back when clearly there were so many other empty tables. When o asked , she said that they're reserved for 5he 5.30 and 6.00 o'clock reservations. We sat there and left at almost 6.20 and all those tables were still vacant. I didn't like the attitude and not sure why I felt like we were being judged in some way. Fyi, the prices are very high, although having been to cape cod many times, we're used to that part, but at least have some respect for every one. Wish I knew her name. Anyway I usually dont writr bad reviews but I was pretty upset. Honestly looking back we should have left.

Fabulous meal, wonderful and professional service, great atmosphere. We were on the patio, which is alongside the sidewalk. Might not appeal to all but we enjoy the people watching, and it added to our experience. The indoor dining room was certainly buzzing, so I'm sure they all were having a good time. I had the Nova Scotia halibut--deliciously seasoned and perfectly prepared. My sweetheart had the bolognese, which she said was delicious, and her son had the potato gnocchi, he said the ye tire was amazing, the texture was so light and airy. If we lived nearby, instead of in Virginia, we'd be here on a regular basis! We certainly hope to come back the next time our travels take us to the Island.

Wait staff and manager are great, very professional. If you are a Celiac, you need to be careful. There are a lot GF options and they seem to understand the issues associated with cross contamination however.... I got very sick. I had a long talk with the waitress when ordering and was assured that everything I ordered was GF. Maybe it was a one off issue but I'm not taking a chance on that again. Sorry to say, I had very high hopes.

All around horrible experience pasta bolognese-was tasteless and meatless Service was lacking to say the least and nowhere to be found Atmosphere was non existence as seated outside in far corner with view of nothing Overpriced and worst option in Edgartown where there ate so many better choices called and emailed but no effort to comp my $40 small bowl of tasteless pasta

The food and service is unmatched. Everytime we are on the island, we go here at least once if not twice a weekend. Get yourself the bolognese, spicy cucumbers and a Katama in the Afternoon (maybe 2).

This would be a 3 star on food alone but the vibes and the service bring it up to a 4. The food felt pretty standard and nothing too special. The bread service was honestly the best part of the meal. However the restaurant was super cute with a nice garden patio area and the servers were so friendly. If you are more in it for the instagram pics rather than the food, this is the place.

Aw man- so lucky to dine at this gem. We had reservations at another MV restaurant, but the time didn't work for us, so we called an audible and cancelled. Strolling through town, we came across this place, and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather and dine outside- we had to put our names down, so some not-just-window-shopping to kill some time, but got a corner table on the patio under the lights at night- lovely! Our server was super knowledgeable and recommended some dishes we otherwise would have never tried, and man, was that a good call! Their bread service and Three Sisters (the recommended dish with squash, beans, carrots, corn, saffron, romesco *chef's kiss*) were a great start, the Mushroom Ragu was delicious, and the cocktails were terrific (including the server-recommended gin). We'd be eager to return next time we're in Edgartown!

I did not have very high expectations based off first glances at the menu, but WOW. The overall experience was amazing. All the seafood is caught the morning of, the produce has a shelf-life TAT of 3 days and all the pasta is made fresh, in-house. We had the best waitress, named Summer, who was so knowledgeable of the menu, and so sweet and friendly. The restaurant didn't seem super busy during a long weekend, which was super surprising considering how great everything was. I really enjoyed the dark and intimate ambiance. Highly recommend checking out The Covington while visiting Martha's Vineyard!

Ok. First. The chef has some exceptional skills. We dined two years apart and experienced some excellent cuisine with consistency. The atmosphere is very different from inside to outdoor. Make reservations well in advance. The outdoor is a narrow walkway along the underhand of the building with a public park just I. Earshot so do not be surprised with young families at dusk making noise. The wine selection is creative and very quality. Enjoy a special night out. Alex is the server with the best stories and friendly attitude choose him.

Tough review. I've eaten and enjoyed Covington over the years but not the recent visit. I had the seafood bucatini. The red sauce was bitter beyond belief and the seafood (lobster, clams - not sure there was much else even though it mentioned other types in the dish) were immensely dried out and tough / chewy. Okay if I was in a cheap restaurant I could hold my hands up and say I got what I deserved from a vat of this stuff, but not at $43-ish dollars. Also, the pasta was supper starchy and gooey. The bolognese was reasonable although it was a little light on flavor and meat. Most expensive plate of this I've bought $42. The kale salad starter was nice and the other started so-so. The waiter was nice - he ask how the food was, but didn't seem to get that we ate half of the seafood dish and said the bolognese was good, and the seafood was not what we expected. Smiled and walked away.

Attractive but casual looking place with food that belies the ambiance. Very innovative rich blends of flavors with every dish. We had the Three Sisters (a delightful modern twist on this ancient tradition) and the scallops for appetizers. Then the absolutely enormous halibut belly. Our server (Sarah) recommended it for two people and she was right. Simply amazing simply insane simply super intense dish. One the best fish courses I've ever had. Note the outside seating has terrible chairs so if you have a back problem ask to be placed indoors. The staff kindly moved us in after initially seating us on the patio. Thanks!

The Covington is not only one of my (now) favorite restaurants but one of my all-time favorites. There is nothing negative about it. The food, staff, and atmosphere were so good we ate there twice in three days! Summer and Trevor are amazing people and we instantly bonded with them. Trevor makes some of the best cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails, period. If you are on this island this restaurant is a must.

We had an excellent meal here and really appreciated the service very much. We asked if we were ordering too much and the server quite honestly said yes and offered great recommendations for how to be more realistic. The food was excellent. We had a spicy cucumber dish which, while simple, was one of the most interesting and unusual dishes I've seen in a while. Slightly complaint: The acoustics aren't great, making it a bit difficult for my wife and I to hear one another. But the food was well worth it -- looking forward to going back.

Based on the food experience I give it five stars! They change the menu weekly depending on the ingredients so you know the quality will be fresh. The clam chorizo bowl was rich in flavor. The pasta dish tasted like handmade pasta and all the flavors mixed well. The house made bread with garlic butter was crisp on the outside airy and soft inside. As for the service I had to give it 3.5 stars because the hostess didn't seem very eager to sit us because we had 3 kids. It was a relatively quiet week night with plenty of seating. The table service was standard. That said I will come again for the food.

We were immediately seated. The menu is organized in sequential way and clear. Very high in vegetarian options Partial favorites were the Spicy cucumber and kale salad. The entrees were good but not the highlight of the evening

Food, service, ambiance all terrific! The drinks are unique and top notch - best on the island! The food is incredible - my favorite is the Halibut, but I recommend it all! Great place highly recommend.

Stopped here after looking at a few other spots and so glad we did! Cool staff, nice atmosphere, but even better food! NY sirloin by far the best steak we've ever had. Tried to go the next day for the same meal and they were closed :( Would rate higher than 5 stars if we could! I'll be dreaming about that meal for the rest of my life...

As a tourist coming from the tri-state area (NJ/NY), The Covington was one for the books. On a busy Wednesday night in August, I was so glad our last minute walk-in worked out because a party with reservation canceled, it was meant to be. Our party of 4 were seated indoors and we felt very comfortable because there weren't many tables open for social distancing. The restaurant's ambiance was modern yet cozy. I felt kind of sad for the restaurant, unable to be used to their full capacity but safety first, of course. I could see the restaurant menu changes seasonally and was not too extended but it had a great amount of farm-to-table items, which is their specialty. From pasta, to fresh fish, to exotic salads, this place has something for everyone. There's plenty of gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options but don't let that discourage you. For starters, my partner and I shared the Island Farmstand salad. The salad was crafted with perfection with Martha Vineyard's grown produces. It was hard to recap all the ingredients composed in the salad but there were fresh corns, tomatoes, arugula in vinaigrette, cauliflower puree/crema and topped with roasted cheese bits. Whoever created this masterpiece should consider keeping this salad permanently on the menu (when in season). It took a while for our entrees to come but maybe it was because we ordered a huge roasted halibut for two. Our patience was tested especially when our appetites were opened up by a delicious salad. The roasted halibut belly and collar did not disappoint. The meat was fresh and had a right amount of tenderness. The side potatoes and corns were great pairings. The portion was large enough for two people. It was a great choice. Our couple friends ordered the mushroom ragu and shellfish brodo and they could tell how fresh the ingredients were. Mushroom ragu was their favorite. Overall, this high-end restaurant delivers fresh farm-to-table meals and the creators of the dishes know what they are doing. If you can only pick one restaurant to eat at on the island, this is the place.

If you go to dinner anywhere in Martha's Vineyard- make it The Covington! First- the ambiance was cute, cozy, and trendy. The inside was beautiful/quaint and the patio was picturesque! The four of us shared the below dishes and the standouts were the Kale Salad, Bread + Butter, Bolognese, and Mushroom Ragu, but we truly enjoyed every dish. Spicy Cucumbers Bread + Butter Kale Salad Mushroom Ragu Bolognese Halibut Honey Pie Don't forget to make a reservation as soon as they are available! We went on a Friday at 5P (right at opening) they weren't even taking walk-ins. Need to go back ASAP!!

Really wonderful restaurant in Edgartown. Social distancing policies: excellent. The wait staff all wear their masks appropriately (over nose and mouth, not over chin) and the tables are quite spaced apart. There are a few tables out front but we actually sat in a row of tables along the side of the building, which I prefer because we don't get exposed to foot traffic. Menus are in paper. Food: really wonderful, our best meal in Edgartown. We shared the cacio e pepe(interesting take using squid ink pasta, which added a nice depth to the pasta; also really spicy, but in a good way), mushroom ragu (handmade pasta with a shiitake based sauce-really added a new dimension of earthiness to the dish) and the sole (really nicely seasoned, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside; also came with some lovely snap peas). Finished off our meal with a slice of honey pie, which was their take on an almond based pecan pie- really well done! Overall we truly had nothing bad to say about this place. I would recommend making reservations to try it out if you're in the area!

After being screwed over by a restaurant nearby, we were left without food options at 9:40 PM. Most of the restaurants in the area close at 10, and kitchens close even earlier. We ended up walking to The Covington. We spoke to the host, August, and he was very understanding. August then asked the kitchen if they were willing to stay open and they very graciously did. The staff here were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. They went out of their way to sit us in the restaurant. We both had the bolognese which was delicious! But we especially enjoyed the hummus appetizer. We cannot recommend this place enough!

We had an absolutely amazing experience here! Out of our 7 day vacation, we spent 3 of our nights here at The Covington and honestly wished we could have spent more. The ambience is wonderful, the service is out of this world, and the food is mouth-watering. Trevor gave such great service, we kept on wanting to come back. His creation of wonderfully crafted cocktails, personalized recommendations, and kind-hearted personality was refreshing for us amidst the typical Martha's Vineyard crowd. We left Alchemy to do another night here and it was the best decision. If you're looking for a great time, with genuine people and excellent food, this is the place to go. Sister restaurant of Porthouse across the street. Creative drinklist that is well-executed. Must do the panzanella salad to experience island-grown produce. The peas are exceptional. Halibut special was a tad overdone and lost some of its terrific moistness. Tuna entree is well-conceived, although it could do with a bit less ruffage. Pricing is quite reasonable relative to the quality of the food.

Phenomenal! Excellent meals, excellent service. Enjoyed the server's explanation of the dishes when we asked. Enjoyed the drinks. The steak was amazing, as was the spicy cucumbers, bread, scallops and gnocchi. Would absolutely recommend.

Ties for best restaurant on Martha's Vineyard (with State Road). Excellent service and ambience. Tremendous flavor and texture for all the dishes we had. Highly recommend!

I generally liked the food, but this restaurant is way too expensive for the quality of food and, especially, the quantity. I don't like these "small plate" style places in general, but this one was unusually small. Our group of 3 paid $200 before tip for what amounted to a few tiny and unsatisfying appetizers and a few drinks. One example- The "ham," listed as a "snack," was $20 for 4 tiny pieces. The snacks I am used to getting cost $5 and actually are enough calories to stave off hunger. The "entrees" were so crazy expensive that I didn't even think about ordering them. Paying a lot of money is okay if the food is awesome and you don't leave hungry. This restaurant fails as to both. The ceviche, all 3 teaspoonfuls served, was in fact good.

Just a wonderful experience. Wait staff was extremely helpful. Bustling but comfortable small restaurant. The food was superb. Don't miss the clams and chorizo or the fresh pasta made right there

We are tough critics. The clams and chorizo had a great umami flavor and broth with bread to dip. The mushroom pasta was great and the cod was nicely prepared with a decadent salad (with a lot of superfood vegetables which include radish, watercress) and a nice snap pea farro salad. The desserts were on the smaller side so it's definitely recommended to order your own. The chocolate dessert was rich dark chocolate cake with coffee and a raspberry sauce which my boyfriend described as delicious. I loved the honey pie which is a take on pecan pie. Desserts were incredible. Execution for the fish was spot on. The Pinot Noir was unique and recommended. The best dinner we had on the vineyard.

My mom picked this place out for our last dinner in Edgartown, we had been the year before and really enjoyed it! The ambiance inside the restaurant is very nice, there are cool wood planks across the ceiling with light peeking through, and pretty glass bottle lighting (although the space overall is a little dark). We made a reservation far in advance and got a nice table by the window. I highly suggest you make a reservation, otherwise you will probably get turned away. I'm a vegetarian and got a special vegetarian menu. Note this didn't have anything different on it from the regular menu, just listed out the vegetarian options. It's a good place for those with plant based diets. We shared the Mermaid Farm Feta Panzanella, and the green harissa was a really tasty unique touch. The peaches were great to although the dish could have used more of them! My MVM Mushroom Ragu was delicious, the mushrooms were perfect and you could tell the pasta was homemade. My mom ordered the Tuna which came plated with a large arugula bed underneath, she liked it. Our favorite part was desert however - Honey Pie! Homemade ice cream on top, crunchy almonds in the pie and fresh honey drizzle, yum! I'd like to add everything I ordered was recommended by our waitress, who did a great job. If you're in Edgartown, go to the Porthunter (across the street) one night, and go here another night for sure. One note for the restaurant , please add cappuccinos to the menu for dessert! :)

This place was good but the cheese app was small and the bread and butter was good but was weird that it was an app and didn't come with the meal. The gnocchi was good and filling but a little too much pesto for me. The bolognese was amazing!

A great early dinner on a nice evening. The drinks were well crafted and the staff was very attentive. We made reservations ahead of time and had no issues being seated outdoors. The spicy cucumbers and bread as starters were fantastic and the two pasta dishes that followed hit the mark. Definitely recommend this place, we really enjoyed it

Loved the kale salad, basil walnut gnocchi and halibut a tree. Cocktails were good as well. Ambience is nice. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Definitely make reservations couple of weeks in advance. In the heart of edgartown. They have ample of seating indoor and outdoor. Lot of vegetarian options. Chocolate torte was alright.

First visit for us last week. Made a reservation and we were seated at a comfy booth inside. Our server was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the menu, so pleasant. To start we shared the baba ganoush and special cheese of the evening which was a Brie-like cheese from Grey Barn. The baba ganoush was creamy and flavorful and served with a generous side of homemade grilled pita and the cheese with an apricot jam and honey-drizzled crostini. Could've used a couple more pieces of crostini but overall it was delicious! For entrees we shared the kale salad, pesto pasta and Cuban sandwich (special of the evening). All super fresh! The homemade pasta included the sweetest tomatoes and the pesto was really yummy. Cuban was everything you'd expect: homemade baguette, pickles, cheese, mustard and mayo, served with a side of greens. And the kale salad was clean and fresh with mushrooms and cheese. Definitely our favorite meal on the island. We can't wait to go back!

We managed to grab an outdoor table on a cool September Saturday night even though reservations weren't available. There were outdoor heating lamps and plenty of space and greenery between the tables. The servers were attentive and the menu fun! We had a great meal. My negroni was tasty and the big square ice cube did its job admirably. The mojito had plenty of mint, but not sure what type of white rum they used... but it was white rum. Although we're not vegetarian, we try to eat vegetables with every meal. The menu has great options for starters, sides and mains that include plenty of veg. We will definitely stop by on our next cruise by Edgartown.

Had an early reservation in late June. They sat us outside, on the side covered porch. Not the most comfortable chair but it worked fine. Our server was delightful, described entrees in detail and noted my gluten allergy very thoroughly. You could tell each item was rung with celiac and gluten allergy as it was noted on our check. Almost every item on the menu could be customized to be gluten free. We had the cheese plate, smoked beets, farm salad, and the bolognese (with GF pasta!). The pasta dish was the standout. The smoked beets were very flavorful but definitely not an attractive dish. The cheese plate had a raw cheese from Grey Barn and it was delicious. If you have a food allergy I would definitely recommend coming here. The staff is very knowledgeable on allergies and the menu is well labeled.

Exceeded our expectations. Everything was exceptionally good. Definitely ranks at the top of our list and best on the island. Nice environment with great staff. We will be back.

Very good food. Our server was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about their gluten-free options. Only draw was it was loud. But the food was out of this world. I highly recommend.

The Covington is amazing. Go there often when we visit Martha's Vinyard. The pasta dishes are fantastic & same with desserts. Service is amazing. We just came to Visit again this week & they are closed for the season but wanted to leave a five star review as we will be back soon & will be returning customers.

So refreshing to have a chef who really cares to excel...in creating a fresh, creative, richly flavorful cuisine. Mr. Said takes a miraculous spin on a cucumber appetizer, right along to one of the most tender and interesting kale salads to the best halibut dish I've ever had. I am a sucker for craft cocktails but the two times we were there this month, the flavors were not balanced or complementary to my palate. But hats off to the chef and the attentive wait staff...Only wish you were open year-round!

Service was excellent. Caitlin the bartender made our dining experience the best. We had planned to sit outside but the rain changed our plan. The bar was the only thing available and it was fun, food delicious and drinks were great. Lots of locals dining at this restaurant.

You won't be disappointed by the food, drinks, atmosphere, or service at Covington. I look forward to visiting every year and have been a customer since they first opened. I have never been disappointed. They have a squid ink pasta dish on their menu that is crazy good and I literally have cravings for. The crudo is also a must-have. Obviously, they aren't able to open as usual this year so we opted for their take away options last week. The food was great and they were extremely friendly when we arrived for our no-contact pickup. They also had some fun music playing outside which was a nice touch. You can tell they are taking the proper precautions to keep their staff and customers safe and healthy while still providing great service. We will continue to use their take away service this summer and look forward to being regular customers in their restaurant again in the future. Thank you, Covington!
