I went to my first comedy show here featuring Nore Davis and it was fantastic. We loved all of the crass humor right off the bat and all the staff was super fun. I sat in the VIP section and I obviously got talked to about what I was allowed and not allowed to say loudly in the room, so in future, I will know a little better. Watch your talking during the event: But overall amazing !!! Highly recommend going!

I want to update my previous review below to reflect the way Creek and Cave handled our initial experience. After posting about the issues we had during our visit to see TJ Miller—particularly with the VIP process and service—they personally reached out to us and offered complimentary tickets to another show as a gesture of goodwill. We accepted their generous offer and attended the Zoltan Kaszas’ show last night. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish, our server was Yoel. The service was much improved, the atmosphere was just as fun and welcoming, and the team truly went above and beyond to make things right. Their proactive outreach and sincere effort to correct a past misstep says a lot about their integrity and how much they value their guests. I genuinely appreciate their hospitality and the way they respected our concerns. Prior review: Great Comedy, Poor Service Experience We visited Creek and Cave Comedy Club in Austin last weekend to see TJ Miller, and the comedy lineup absolutely delivered—hilarious acts all night, and the venue itself is fun, cozy, and full of potential. However, our experience with the VIP ticket process and service left a lot to be desired. We paid for VIP entry, yet waited in line for over 15 minutes before being called inside, only to then stand in the lobby for another 15+ minutes. Meanwhile, general admission guests were already seated inside. That was confusing, but we stayed patient. Once seated (front row, center stage—right under the mic), it took nearly 50 minutes to receive our first round of drinks, and only after we proactively approached someone twice. I asked if we could order, and was told—somewhat sarcastically—“You have table service.” Except… no one ever came. By the time my husband followed up at the bar, we had already missed service through five full comedians, while tables around us were enjoying their second or third round. We didn’t even have water. The comedy show itself was fantastic, and the atmosphere was great, but the service model for VIP guests needs serious attention. If you’re going to offer “table service only,” it should be executed properly—especially when patrons are paying extra for it. We’d love to come back because the talent and vibe are great, but we hope the service structure improves.

1st time visiting for a comedy show. Great prices and food. The show was great. All the comedians were funny. Will be back.

Had a wonderful time at the Monday shows! The staff was great, especially at the door. Matt, the bouncer, made us feel at home right off the bat! My husband and I have been to the venue a few times, and it was nice to finally see some representation in the staff! Beautiful night!

Google
The Creek is my favorite club. Great venue, great shows, and an amazing food truck. A great choice any day of the week.

Google
As a true connoisseur of comedy, I can confidently say The Creek and The Cave is one of the best venues in Austin. You never know who might drop in—major headliners often pop into local shows, creating unforgettable, spontaneous moments. I've been to every comedy spot in the city, and this place stands out not only for its incredible atmosphere but also for its food—easily the best among comedy venues and even holds its own against some of Austin’s top food trucks. With shows every night of the week, you get to witness rising talent in action—and it’s amazing to see a newer comic working out material one year, then returning to absolutely crush it the next. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience.

Google
Great Comedy Club! One of my favorite spots in Austin. If you like comedy, you have to check this place out. The shows are always fun, and the food is really good too!

Google
Loved this place! Cozy with an atmosphere. They serve nice drinks and snacks also. Loved the comedians. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
The Creek and The Cave is the heart of the Austin comedy scene. This is where the finest local talent comes to perform. Nationally touring comedians will drop in to try new jokes for the first time. The club is home to some of the most fun and creative weekly shows in the city (shout-out Absolute Show and Banana Phone). The vibe is everything a comedy club should be. The food is always delicious--I love the wings! Table and bar service is always great. The door guys are always friendly and super welcoming. The whole staff has been nothing but pleasant to me, and I would NEVER leave a negative review of this place.

Yelp
Very nice place for a light night out with some drinks and some good/bad jokes. I like the concept - you submit questions and can post your responses for the comedians to read and commentate. The short lady wearing the fur coat was not very fun and she seemed to only picked dirty questions which limited the fun and their abilities to showcase humor without talking dirty. The rest of the comedians were quite hilarious!

Molly M.

Yelp
My favorite experience at Creek and the Cave was at the open mic where I got to hear comedians raise awareness about LGBT and Autism. Mainly it was a bunch of autistic guys calling each other gay all evening, but it was stunning and brave nonetheless.

Yelp
We went for a special performer on my husband's birthday. Entry was smooth, the chairs are arranged wide around the stage so nearly everyone has a good view (unless you're stuck behind a pillar). The service is slow and we could only get one round of drink requests in. But the place is clean. Experience widely varies based on who you see perform but the venue is good for shows.

Yelp
This is a special shout out to the baldheaded doorman who was super super pleasant to me last night. I wanted to get into the 7 o'clock SOLD OUT show and he let me wait and he kept me updated. There ended up being no seating so I came back for the 9 o'clock show. I waited for Hannah Einbinder to come out after the show and asked a few of the staff about it, everyone was very polite, and although I didn't get to meet her, my experience here was above outstanding and I will surely come back. I was extra excited that there was not a drink minimum and I did want a cup of coffee and I was very happy that the coffee was delicious. This is always a bonus at a bar. Bald headed doorman--KEEP BEING YOU!!! ---great menu with great non-alcohol options ----I did not like the chairs but maybe the "lean back" was the point

Yelp
Came to see a comedy show and was surprised to find out how the Creek and the Cave was more welcoming and comfortable than the outside. Small tables where you can order food and drinks from the table, and a private bar in the back if you want to show up beforehand for a drink. Each show has about 15-20 comedians that give about 5 minutes of jokes. Good, but also challenging to remember everyone's names and their jokes after the show. Our bachelorette group had a difficult time trying to reminisce on the show haha.

Yelp
Really neat club. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Saw 2 great comics and 1 that was just ok(I may not have been target audience) Will definitely go back next time in Austin.

Taylor G.

Yelp
It's the Monday before election night so obviously very tough crowd, everyone on stage felt the energy too and called us out (fair). But I have to say, those chairs were horrendous and maybe that's why everyone was so quiet-- we were in pain. I could not sit comfortably for the hour and a half I was there and I am 25 and a perfectly healthy girl. Also if you're questioning taking an uber or walking from your first destination to here... you definitely should call that car. Pretty much impossible to walk to unless you're a giant man or are comfy with walking past 30+ cracked out or homeless peoole collapsed on the sidewalk or screaming at you :)
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
It was our first visit to this venue and we loved the comedians we were able to see. Easy to find location on 7th street but we decided to Uber because of the parking situation. I'm not comfortable with street parking but there are some spots to try that. Highly recommend the salsa- we learned the menu was curated and designed by the chef. This salsa has a cucumber/tomato base. It's got tons of flavor and tastes really fresh. The servers here were quick and before the show had some time to answer questions. This comedy club has something going on 7 days a week- we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Went here last week for a comedy show, had a good time but shit did the seats there suck, small and flimsy plastic chairs with no back support. I hate complaining like a old man but sitting there for an hour and a half was painful

Yelp
The creek rules. We come here all the time. Great shows. Great vibes. Food and drinks are awesome too.

Brian N.

Yelp
*Based off of only one show (the therapy one)* Pro: Friendly staff and a variety of food options. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the comedians, especially the minority performers (woman + black guy), were funny and weren't trying to say anything offensive Con: The show had a frat bro vibe, with subtle sexist and racist undertones from the predominantly white male lineup. The audience and one comic gave off Trumpian vibes, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Despite some talented performers, the overall culture of that night's questions were off-putting. Wouldn't return for that specific show. Want to re-emphasize how friendly and welcoming staff and comics were, and the comedians were never mean spirited.

Yelp
Great show, saw Casey Rocket! Always a home Run with Casey. We all Loved the Whisky Business. Great prompt service.

Yelp
We randomly had an opportunity for a kid free date night on a Friday and wanted to do something fun. In our pre-kid days, we loved going to Cap City Comedy Club (the location that unfortunately closed during the pandemic). We looked to yelp. We found this place and bought 2 tickets to see Brent Morin this past Friday night. The tickets were $25 each, but worked out to ~$64 after they added taxes and fees. The Velveeta Room had $10pp tickets for the same night, so we felt that the difference in price may have been indicative that we would get what we paid for. We ponied up for these tickets at more than twice the price. Upon arrival, we were thinking we would be placed in the very back, since doors had opened 30 minutes before. We were surprised by the very low turn out. We were placed in the front row, directly under the microphone. Including ourselves, there ended up being 25-30 people total in the audience. They seat 200. The last comedian even joked about the number of empty seats and how the white seats were glaringly bright white from the stage. The first act was just not funny. She was raunchy, but her jokes fell pretty flat. The 2nd act was somewhat funny, but not what I would expect based on the ticket price. Brent Morin (main act) was definitely good, but on par with an opening act at the old Cap City. He went a little too long with the same joke and his act just did not live up to the ticket price that we paid. All in all, we still had fun. We just felt they overpriced the show, based on the talent that we saw. If we had paid $15 a ticket, we would have felt it had been worth it. Side note: they have table service available. The waitress was both friendly and prompt. We ordered beer, fish and chips and disco fries. The beer was cold and crisp. The fish was very tasty and fresh. It comes with a delicious remoulade as well. The fries with that entrée were overcooked, semi-overly salty, but not terrible. Just not great. The disco fries were much better, but this was because the cheese and toppings drowned out the fact that they were also brown and overcooked. At my request, they added jalapenos to them, so that was a plus. I would order those again, but I don't think we will be back. It just wasn't worth what we paid.

Yelp
Love this intimate, cozy comedy club in downtown Austin! Have been going here for 2 years now, since I moved to Austin from Chicago. Having lived in Chicago for ~10 years in my adulthood, and being an avid comedy lover, I have seen many, many a comedy show & comedians from Dave Chapelle to fresh newbies and personally appreciate many different types of humor. That all being said, the Creek and the Cave has been my consistent go-to for comedy shows in downtown Austin that delivers the laughs more often than not. You can go here for a decent show really any day of the week - they typically have a fair number of shows offered on both weekdays & weeknights. I most recently came here the other night for their "Litty Titty Tuesdays" Gong Show with a friend, and we had a blast! Basically, the Gong Show consists of the cool & funny host, Allison Wojtowecz, handing out several of these long styrofoam tube-thingys (that light up with different colors & lights that flash when you switch them on) to random audience members who want one. The show consists of several comedians lined up in the queue. The outline goes that, after the first 90 seconds of a comedian's set, if you want that comedian to stop because you don't like their jokes or don't find them funny, you're then allowed to turn on your styrofoam thingy (if you have one) in the audience to vote them off the stage. I believe it's after you get two more people in the audience to also vote the comedian off-stage by turning on their styrofoam thingys, they're kicked off and then the next comedian comes on to start their set. Long story long, while i did end up eventually getting (subtly) told to not participate or engage as much in response to the comedians' audience-directed questions, the Gong Show was interactive, a helluva lot of fun, & we had some hearty ol' laughs! I had "The Callback" cocktail ($14) the other night, and it was deelightful & refreshing, made with gin, lavender, lemon & mint. I've also indulged in their "Chuckle Fucker" (I'd be remiss here not to s/o TSLOCG + Mindy Kaling #IYKYK ;)) - i see what u did there, Creek N the Cave;) cocktail ($14), and while on the sweeter side, I'd still recommend it because of its watermelon-infused vodka & sugary rim. They offer a few snacks, including Reese's Pieces or Sour Patch Kids for $5 each, a bag of Zapp's Voodoo or BBQ chips for $3, or a protein bar made with crickets(!), banana & chocolate for $5 - lol since apparently we're all trying to get our daily protein in at comedy shows on the reg?? They also offer Delta 9 Gummies ($10/2 pack or $30 for 10 ct) and non-alcoholic drinks like Rambler and cold brew. They do offer weekly food & drink specials Sunday - Thursday ! The other night, on Litty Titty Tuesday, they had a chef's special of chicken fajita & veggie tacos, as well as a $7 Specialty Shots drink special. I'm not sure what their parking sitch is like, as I have always ubered here since i like to have a drink or two during the show. Regardless, the ubers to/fro have always been worth it, as the Creek and the Cave has been a steady and true comedy joint for me here in Austin to find & deliver both in-advance and last-minute, quality comedy shows! ProTip: get on their email distro!

Jessica L.

Yelp
I am convinced they picked the comedians off of dirty 6th street hours before the show and asked if they could get on stage to tell some "jokes." Their idea of telling jokes were to aggressively offend the audience. If that sounds like something worth spending your money on, go. I will not step foot in that place ever again.

Susette D.

Yelp
Comedy club! One with some food and drinks. Staff great! Competent and they get the show going. This place is clean and safe. Saw Michael Ian Black. Hooray!
google avatar

Yelp
Super, super small venue with not very comfortable seats and tiny tables. Space is quite intimate, so whoever is performing will definitely see everything you're doing. No space is safe if you're here for a comedian! Though they offer a food menu, I wouldn't bother as it's pretty basic and no where to properly eat... unless you want to invade the only shared tiny table you have next to other patrons. DON'T BE THAT PERSON.
google avatar

Krissy K.

Yelp
I purchased VIP tickets online, which guaranteed the first 2 rows and (I thought) a meet and greet, seeing as how there was no meet and greet option online while purchasing tickets. So when we got there and were sat in the 4th row, I didn't really mind. Well... after the show, we line up and were told by a staff member that he had to purchase a different ticket. Pretty upsetting to pay almost $100 for guaranteed seats only, just to not get them... Seems they sold more vip seating than what they actually had space for, because we weren't the only ones this happened to. Other than that frustrating situation and the freezing venue, the staff was pretty attentive and the show was great! Can't attest to the food, as I couldn't eat any of it due to my dietary restrictions. Would come again, just maybe with a jacket and a general admission ticket only.

Alex D.

Yelp
Wonderful cocktail from the bar tonight. We came early for the 8 PM show and Zach told us to try their weekly headliner, a pomegranate martini (but not too strong). It was superb. Coming back hungry so i can try the food next time.

Molly V.

Yelp
I love this club so much. Great shows and amazing staff. Special shoutout to Aiden and Staci...amazing bartenders

Yelp
My partner and I went to see TJ Miller. The servers were pretty on top of everything and checked on you, so it was easy to get a drink and snack. Table were close together but it still felt like you had room. Enjoyed the venue :)

Yelp
This place was awesome! I went here to see Josh Johnson - so first off, they're awesome for hosting Josh Johnson. The host was wonderful, I'm glad they discourage hecklers because that's just not cool and annoying AF. The wait staff were attentive. The fish and chips were awesome! My little sis and I decided to share a plate and we got whole fillets of rainbow trout with the skin on! I was happy as I came in hungry. The room was nice and the chairs were hard, but molded so they were comfortable. Though I didn't didn't stay too long to mingle in the outdoor lounge in back, it was quaint - seating was spaced out nicely. There wasn't a massive crowd standing around so it didn't seem cramped. Great venue!

Yelp
Friday, sep 13 at 11:50 Tried to order food from the outside bar, the bartender had a nasty attitude, and would not take my order, took orders from everyone around me despite me being there before them. I found this ridiculous as a fellow service industry professional, also saw a roach flying behind the bar. Great club needs better staff.

Don H.

Yelp
We went to a kind of Chippendales with cowboys. We thought it was a variety show. The staff were very friendly and drinks were reasonably priced.

Yelp
Had a great time seeing Joe Rogan last week at the Creek and the Cave. Tickets were $35, and the venue only tacked on like $3 for a ticketing fee. No issues getting in, and I got a great spot at a table near the stage. Was rolling solo, so I decided to treat myself to a cocktail. Matthew was my server and he was great, and I was shocked that an Old Fashioned was only priced at $8.25. Even more shockingly, it was delicious! I had a second drink, the Honey Cave, which I didn't enjoy quite as much but was still good. My only issue was he brought me the check and walked away and I had a touchless payment option... except they took our phones away so I had no way to pay. They added a 25% gratuity to the card I gave when I arrived, which is fine, except that's less than I would have tipped Matthew. All in all a fun night and I can't wait to see another show there.

Yelp
This is my first ever comedy club here in Austin, Texas and it truly was an experience! My partner and I we saw Jon Dore and he was truly hysterical! I've seen him on a few shows before haha. The creek and the cave has both an outdoor and indoor venue for different shows we only got to be in the inside portion which was completely fine. The service was outstanding the servers and bartenders are on top of all the guests before, during, and after the performance. Really famous comedians perform here at this comedy club and we highly recommend this one for sure ^.^ P.S - Parking is a little hectic due to the street parking so I suggest taking a Lyft or an Uber.

The T.

Yelp
A fun comedy club blocks from The Mothership. They have great new talent, friendly staff, a fun laid back place to hear comedy or try out your set. The owner is also very nice.

Yelp
I had the sliders for dinner. Very good. Service was expedient and continuous. The club is dark inside but the stage is pretty lit. Seating is tight but reasonable.

Yelp
been planning to go to a show here for weeks. got to town, invited friends, got there a couple hours early so I went next door for drinks. I come back and the price is $5 extra per person. Nowhere on the website did it say $10 advance / $15 at the door. I was literally at a bar next door as the price raised for all of us. I was pumped to promote local comedy here, it's not about the money - it's the fact that nowhere did it say they would change the price and I could have easily bought my ticket that I intended to, when I was here early. literal false advertising, website advertising $10 show and you get here and it's $15. shady. anyway, they could stand to lower the prices as it's a Monday night and the place is empty. no surprise why.

Yelp
I've never been one to frequent comedy clubs, but I do love a good comedy show. Here in Austin, the comedy scene is popping! The creek and the cave has proven to be an excellent choice for a show. I've taken all my friends and multiple dates here. I must admit the shows can be hit or miss (MOSTLY HIT), but I signed up for their emails so almost all my tickets were free!!! It has never been a problem getting a good seat, I've almost always been front row actually. The drinks are a little pricy, I'm cheap, but they taste great. The Service has always been good, and the outdoor area in the back is super chill. Seriously one of my favorite spots to go in Austin. Worth a visit.

Yelp
My husband and I had bought tickets earlier in the week to see TJ Miller. I received an email the next day saying that unfortunately TJ cancelled and rescheduled for the end of March. Boo! The creek and cave said they would give a promo code for free tickets to see Bill Dawes for this weekend and we still get the rescheduled tickets to TJ in March. Okay, not bad at all. The show on Saturday for Bill Dawes started at 7. We arrived around 630ish and were seated by the stage. We ordered a mule and old fashion to start. They had food but we had eaten prior to the show. The drinks were decent. We ordered another round before closing out. If you don't close your tab you will automatically be charged 25% for a tip. The show itself was pretty good. There was about three other people who perform before Bill. Overall I will be back again.

Jared P.

Yelp
Purchased tickets for "The Most Expensive Joke" show. The talent was atrocious alongside the host of the show. Prior to the show, we were reminded of no heckling. By the end of the show, my family and I were called out four times by the comics and the host as their attempts at punch lines of jokes. Every comic and the host were bombing so badly that instead of focusing more effort on creating better material, they took the easy way out by focusing their incompetencies on the crowd for their jokes. I'm all for having fun, that's why one attends a comedy show, but the lack of talent and even poorer execution of last minute attempts to poke fun at the crowd is the reason to definitely pass on this comedy club. The show was being filmed and we were asked multiple times to sit in the first two rows of seating because they couldn't sell enough tickets for the show to have the venue appear to have a full audience. What a waste of money and even more so our time.

Jordan M.

Yelp
It was a great vibe there was awesome! The service was amazing. We went to the filthy show and were laughing our asses off! The drinks were super yummy, and offer really good non alcoholic beverages that I really enjoyed!
google avatar

Nathan S.

Yelp
Really enjoyed seeing Mike Vecchione here. The seats were comfortable, the beer was cold, and the service was stellar. I hope this club sticks around, as I fear the comedy market is being flooded in Austin.

Joe M.

Yelp
Zach was my bartender. He was extremely attentive the entire night during the sold out shows. I'd give 6 stars if it was an option. Can't recommend Zach or this venue enough.

Dillon K.

Yelp
Terrible seats no back support for somewhere you're forced to sit. The comedy is good though.

Yelp
Anyone who knows Long Island City Comedy will know her name. For 14 years Rebecca Trent ran the Creek & the Cave in NYC. Recently re-opened here in Austin this club is quickly becoming the place to see amazing comics from all over the country. The talent range is amazing a perfect combination of local talent and comics from all over. Saturday afternoon was a playful event called TwoBrokeBitches hosted by Colton and Aira, this show included drag queens interviews and fun local comics. Sundays they host an open mic starting at 4pm. I was back on Tuesday for The Filthy Show which reminded me of late 80's early 90's comedy (NSFW). Last night (Thursday) was an amazing set of comics with the headliner Jessica Kirson who had me crying. If you are lucky enough Joe Rogan has been doing some amazing shows as well. They are new so there are some growing pains most specifically the website. Sometimes the show will say free, but if you scroll down you will find the actual price. If you have a problem you can always get a ticket at the door, or send them an email: help@creekandcave.com. The staff are super friendly and extremely efficient. - Its a great time and super fun place. I will be back on a regular basis. - Great work!

Yelp
bartenders were nice and the comedy was good. Zach, the bartender, was wearing pants that emphasized his bulge. 5/5. recommended

Patrick D.

Yelp
Amazing performers, I saw famous people that were really funny. The drinks were well priced and got me drunk and tasted great while doing so. I would say overall being here this is one of the greatest experiences I've ever had in life.

BB B.

Yelp
Definitely recommend this place! The comedy was great but also the staff was nice, from the person at the door to our waiter. The drinks were good and the pricing was common for the Austin downtown area. Honestly, the staff made the experience awesome, will definitely go again and recommend!

Trent P.

Yelp
Very intimate venue to see comedians, good food, good drinks. Staff was friendly and helpful. I wish the seating was a little bit better as you have four chairs at a small round table which leaves two seats with their back to the table during the show.

Yelp
We come out for comedy shows at least once a month and love this spot! The service is awesome and Aidan makes it so much fun!! We love him and he is the best!

Yelp
I was there with my friend who had a birthday as guests of someone else at the early 8pm show. There were approximately 14 people at best on a Wednesday night. The comedians did not have much of an audience. I am 77 years old there to see the son of a friend from UTAH. The first comedian up picked me out probably because I was on the front row and he =ask questions and I responded. In addition I blurted out we were celebrating a birthday of my friend sitting next to me. As this comedian was ending his act he said his name was Colton and I yelled out Colton Colton Colton, The management tapped me on the shoulder from the back so I did not see them and he said they did not allow yelling at the performers indicated I should shut up or be kicked out. At least that is what is felt like. He could have said "sometimes the audience members, drunks yell at the performers so we wanted you to sorta watch it, know you were doing it all in fun." I felt like the entire audience behind me watched me getting corrected and disciplined. I had nothing to drink. I don't drink. It was 6 minutes into the first comedian who engaged me up front. I just didn't get it. It is a stand up comedy place who needs an audience. If I had throw things, called him names, interrupted over and over I would expect to be kicked out. I was quiet the rest of the show. So was everyone else and last performer who got the warmed up crowd was embarrassed at the lack of attention/response. I won't go back. I spoke with them as I left, one heavier set guy at front check in desk dismissed me and later a younger guy with dark hair listened and apologized. Very sweet about it. No one seemed to know who it was that got onto me. I won't go back.

Yelp
I've been waiting for a comedy space like this since I moved to Austin in 2008. While Cap City has its perks, the intimacy and low key atmosphere of this spot alone is worth checking out. While I primarily only go when there's an act I'm familiar with, I also super appreciate the overall diversity. They have a wonderful staff and are rocking it with rad giveaways on their mailing list, which i recommend signing up for.

Yelp
Super fun venue!! The comedy was great and the service was decent. You aren't able to grab drinks at the bar, it's only table service. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
We were at The Most Expensive Joke last night and loved it! Amy was such a phenomenal host and so friendly, and the comics were hilarious! Definitely not a family show. I can't wait for the next one! And the bartendar, Brandon, makes delicious drinks and is so friendly.
