Steve Irwin's Family Just Opened a Luxury Lodge at the Australia Zoo to Honor His Legacy — Take a Look Inside

"The Irwins have come up with an even more meaningful way to honor Steve Irwin's legacy by opening The Crocodile Hunter Lodge in Beerwah, Queensland — about 60 miles north of Brisbane — on June 22. Featuring eight family-friendly cabins, a two-room accessible cabin, and a habitat for kangaroos, emus, and koalas, the lodge also includes a new home for the zoo's southern koalas, victims of the 2020 bushfires. The property offers guests a welcome gift, free breakfast, unlimited entry to the Australia Zoo, shuttle service, entry to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, and exclusive use of the 82-foot-long infinity pool called The Billabong." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We did not want to leave. It was amazing. We had a spacious two bedroom "cabin" that overlooked a waterfall and lagoon filled with crocodiles. Absolutely fabulous! The accommodations were beautiful, with full patio furniture outside, our own dip pool and a full kitchen. What a gorgeous resort. You are welcomed as you drive in with free roaming kangaroos that live there, lounging on the grass in front of the lobby. The staff was fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Once you arrive, you don't have to walk any distance to get to the lobby, as they have a buggy to pick you up at your room and bring you back to the restaurant/lobby. The restaurant was delicious and very convenient to the rooms. They have a small gift area if you want to purchase anything in the lobby. They also include entrance fees and transportation to the zoo, which is really convenient. I hope we have the opportunity to stay here again and for much longer next time. It was definitely worth every penny - so unique, so well done and so amazing.

5* accommodation, service food and facility. No aspect of this stay disappointed. We stayed in a 2 bedroom VIP cabin and it was brand new, absolute tranquility and comfort. Restaurant served up excellent food both in the morning and the evening, amazingly friendly and efficient service. I really would like to offer some constructive criticism but I simply can’t. Outstanding.

I can’t recommend this experience enough, from the second we arrived til the moment we left it was 100/10 service! The lodge itself is beautifully done from the interior details and the scene overlooking the crocodiles. Myself and my partner were wowed and didn’t want to leave! |We had a view of at least 6 crocodiles throughout our stay and witnessed some very active movement from them. The complimentary brownies in the fridge were amazing, best brownies I’ve ever tasted! The bed was super comfortable, best nights sleep I’ve had in a while! The restaurant on site was super tasty, highly recommend dining here. All staff were friendly and greeted us with a warm welcome. This experience maybe expensive to some but it’s well worth it and we will definetly return in the future to experience it all over again! Thank you very much for the amazing experience !

It was the best experience, the cabin was amazing, so clean with a gorgeous deep bath and beautiful products to use, the bed was so comfy, and the food was absolutely divine, in the Warrior Resturant the staff were so accommodating with a free shuttle to and from Australia Zoo and to and from the Warrior restaurant for Breakfast and Dinner. Absolutely worth the money with all the little extras you receive as gifts. Highly recommend.

We were blessed to spend one night here on our recent trip to Australia and New Zealand and were blown away by the experience at Crocodile Hunter Lodge. Even in that short time, we experienced true Aussie hospitality that went above and beyond. The cabin accommodations were top-notch, and every thing was sparkling clean. We very much appreciated the free laundry facilities, and to our surprise, as we exited that facility, we saw a koala in a tree...amazing! The infinity pool with a view of the kangaroos was a welcome relief after a morning at the Australia Zoo. The dinner at the Warrior Restaurant was exceptional, and our server was a true gem. Breakfast the following morning blew us away...house made juice beverages with flower accents? Yes, please! And the food was incredible and a great send off after our too-short stay at your lodge. Looking forward to a return trip hopefully sooner rather than later!

I'm not sure where to start, I've just spent two nights and three days staying at this truly amazing lodge, and I can safely say that out of every single place I have stayed around the world, this is by far the the best. From the second we arrived and walked into reception we were made to feel like we were the most special and most welcome people on the planet. |The Lodge itself was just perfect, every single item in it was top quality, even down to the kettle, which had multiple program's for every type of hot drink imaginable. The place was spotlessly clean, and I really do mean spotless. The furnishings and the beds were so comfortable, the wife and I both said we could happily live there, it was that good.||The surroundings were just stunning, beautifully laid out with an abundance of trees and plants. For me, the best part was getting up in the morning, and finding a wild Kangaroo sat literally at the bottom of the steps. I'm a smoker, your not allowed to smoke on any part of the grounds, but that didn't bother me in the slightest, the walk down to the gate was amazing, the different types of birds and animal life was just amazing. The area behind the reception and restaurant has a large infinity pool that overlooks a large paddock with Emu's, Kangaroo's and Koala's in it.||On both nights, and both breakfasts, we chose to eat in the "Warrior" restaurant, which is attached to reception and just off the terrace from the infinity pool. The food was just out of this world! I rarely eat in hotels or lodges, but the menu and quality of the food is absolutely top notch, and I can highly recommend that you eat here if you decide to stay here.||Now I come to the real jewel in the crown of this property.... it's staff. From the management to the cleaner, I have never come across such friendly, professional and welcoming people, they truly made you feel like part of the family and I truly can't thank each and every one of them for everything they did for us.||Overall, I can't recommend this stunning Lodge enough, if you get a chance, then staying here is an absolute MUST.||Thank you "Crocodile hunter Lodge " for memories that will life with us both forever.|

An easy 50 min drive from Brisbane Aiport took us to the first port of call for our holiday - Arrived to smiling friendly staff, easily booked in we made sure we arrived at 9 a.m. Which gave us immediate access to the zoo for the day. A nice touch was a welcome gift of a beautiful print, magazines from the lodge, postcards of Steve Irwin a mini torch to see around the paths at night, and a lovely canvas bag.|The lodge is lovely and we were blessed to be in a lodge/cabin with two bedrooms overlooking a large green area where each evening and morning kangaroos and wallabies came to feed right outside the door. The 'lodge' consisted of 1 double room and 1 room with smaller double bed and large single, a lovely lounge with large screen TV, I don't think this is needed but some may watch it. A galley style well equiped kitchen area and large bathroom, downside there not enough room to hang all the towels, flannels, etc. Tea/coffee milk was provided. A short walk through lovely grounds took us the reception and restuarant and pool. Breakfast is provided when you stay there and it is very good. We ate there in the evenings, being in the middle of nowwhere, the menu is limited 2 meat eaters had great meals, can't say it was as good for vegetarians. The staff are friendly throught the whole of the complex.|There is an on demand shuttle that takes guests to and from the zoo and tickets for the stay are included. On first impression in looks expensive but when you get 2+ days into the zoo, breakfast and beautiful accomodation, etc. included it worked out well. |If you get a chance do stay there they noise from the insects and frogs at night is worth it !! Thanks everyone for a great stay.

We stayed for one night, and what an experience! Friendly and helpful staff, luxury accommodation, delicious food, and a unique infinity pool are some of our highlights. The trip almost took a wonky turn - a flat battery just as we're about to check out and head to the zoo. Thanks to Kyren from security and Nicole from reception, our car was jumpstarted in no time and we even made it to the Tiger show! 🙏 Everything has a uniquely Crocodile Hunter touch. The infinity pool looks over a kangaroo and emu enclosure. It is heated, and we watched kangaroos feed at 5pm while playing at the pool, what an experience. There were kangaroos at the front of the lodge, and the reception has a snake and lizard enclosure which all added to the wildlife feel. We enjoyed our dinner very much - the wine was smooth, entree / main / dessert were impressive and locally inspired and sourced. Breakfast was just as good - freshly squeezed juices, and breakfast options that were tasty but also had a healthy aspect. The accommodation was very comfortable and fitted with sophisticated items. Samsung TV / digital frame, T2 tea bags, water kettle with specific water temps, Dyson hairdryer. We wished we stayed an extra night, will definitely be back.
