Stopped by for a quick drink. Really nice old building,I imagine it has lots of history, with a friendly old pub vibe to the place. Located at the start of the main road through Leigh-on-Sea. Friendly, welcoming and helpful service. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Food menu available but we didn't stay to eat. Small beer garden at the side and a large beer garden in front of the pub across the road (gets very busy on sunny days). This is a solid 5 star pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Waterside pub by the sea. Interesting vintage atmosphere and extensive outdoor seating area. The fish and chips is excellent as are their pies. Good selection of beers and spirits.

We popped in just for a quick drink to go with our seafood. It was very busy so service was a little slow but still very good and moved along quickly.

Met friends here last Sunday, beautiful quaint pub with lots of outside space, we all had lovely meals inside, steak pie a winner !! Then sat outside, by the estuary, with live music. Worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed.

Came for a meal for my nan and grandads anniversary. There was a big group of us and everyone’s food was delicious no complaints. Their staff are so friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and cosy and the veggie sausages were delicious

Nothing crooked about this fabulous establishment. A delight in the sunshine. The ambience takes some beating. Lovely vibe, terrific beer, friendly staff and punters. Loved it. A billet is a living quarters for soldiers. As a former schoolboy cadet I really should've carried on my military career. Damn, I could have lived here.

Credit where credit due. Myself with a friend and her son needed a drink, myself a cup of tea (such a British thing to do). We had just walked 9 miles to Benfleet and Back via the estuary and Hadleigh Castle routes. We had also taken a did in the sea to cool down as it was Sunday and extremely hot. We went in and the person in the room saw us and instantly knew we were struggling in the heat and looked worn and fatigued. Joe was the member of staffs name and he was the ultimate professional from start to finish. We ordered some drinks and he kindly gave us some iced water as well, absolutely brilliant. We were not going to eat there but my friend and her son were a bit peckish and had stuff to eat. Joe also brought over a jug of iced water for us which was well needed. My two colleagues loved their food and more so the service. For me, being old school, it's all about the service. Plates clean and well and truly hydrated we made our departure. I have already been telling people I know about the place because of the service alone. I cannot thank Joe enough for his attendance and professional manner. It was the highlight of the day. The only recommendation is that the pub had an alternative milks available as my tea would have been super nice. Thanks for rounding our day off with a positive experience. Andi

Came here at the conclusion of a long walk with friends- hands down best fish and chips I've ever had.

Yelp
There are two types of 80s theme pubs; the neon frenzied space invader polkadot discotheque and the traditional shabby wooden panelled free house complete with original carpet. This pub falls in to the latter category - and is the better for it. It is a house of the old mould; a meeting spot for the local community, complete with noticeboard, pool table and sign proclaiming 'Paying too much for your beer? BLAME THE CHANCELLOR!' Inspired! Quid-a-shot flavoured vodka makes for an easy kicker. However, paying £3.05 for a pint is really annoying. Not expensive. Annoying in a jangly pocket full of change/kryptonite type fashion. Music mix oscillates between power ballad and dance music titles you'd likely hear only on the local radio station these days (think 'Horny, horny, horny' and 'The Tamperer'). A welcome slice of nostalgia!
