"Home to one of east London’s biggest and best pub gardens, The Crooked Billet is an always buzzing pub in Clapton. Thankfully, the garden has plenty of different areas and booths." - jake missing

Stopped by for a quick drink. Really nice old building,I imagine it has lots of history, with a friendly old pub vibe to the place. Located at the start of the main road through Leigh-on-Sea. Friendly, welcoming and helpful service. Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices. Food menu available but we didn't stay to eat. Small beer garden at the side and a large beer garden in front of the pub across the road (gets very busy on sunny days). This is a solid 5 star pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Nice pub, lovely and warm in the bar area with an open fire. Then I ordered the Nicholson fish n chips and went through to the restaurant side which was barely luke warm with a small gas flame fire giving off barely any heat. The food came which didn't look overly appealing upon presentation, then I removed the batter to reveal brown tinged so called haddock. While it had no bad taste it was either past it's best or was some cheap alternative. I would have complained if anyone came to check how the meal was but too busy gossiping behind the bar. Will not return for food.

Waterside pub by the sea. Interesting vintage atmosphere and extensive outdoor seating area. The fish and chips is excellent as are their pies. Good selection of beers and spirits.

Traditional, very welcoming pub in Old Leigh with a clientele that varies depending on the time of the year. I have been a regular for over fifteen years as one of a group of old school pals who meet there every week to enjoy the beer, the atmosphere and a conversation with old and new friends. The staff are brilliant, but a special shout in particular goes to Liv and Kelly, whose smiles and welcome make it absolutely worth a visit for that alone!

Lovely pub to stop and have a few pints and some food in. Service was very good. Food-wise, we ordered the fish pie... it was alright... Nothing to write home about (which was a bit of a shame considering how well known the area is for seafood). The burgers looked very good though. I'd suggest opting for getting a few pots of seafood from the establishment next door instead.

We popped in just for a quick drink to go with our seafood. It was very busy so service was a little slow but still very good and moved along quickly.

Came here at the conclusion of a long walk with friends- hands down best fish and chips I've ever had.

Yelp
There are two types of 80s theme pubs; the neon frenzied space invader polkadot discotheque and the traditional shabby wooden panelled free house complete with original carpet. This pub falls in to the latter category - and is the better for it. It is a house of the old mould; a meeting spot for the local community, complete with noticeboard, pool table and sign proclaiming 'Paying too much for your beer? BLAME THE CHANCELLOR!' Inspired! Quid-a-shot flavoured vodka makes for an easy kicker. However, paying £3.05 for a pint is really annoying. Not expensive. Annoying in a jangly pocket full of change/kryptonite type fashion. Music mix oscillates between power ballad and dance music titles you'd likely hear only on the local radio station these days (think 'Horny, horny, horny' and 'The Tamperer'). A welcome slice of nostalgia!
