Chef Tim Ma Revamps a Crystal City Cafe With Lemongrass Pork Spaghetti | Eater DC

"I found that the team behind Michelin-starred Maydan and Compass Rose is turning their pandemic pivot Tawle into a brick-and-mortar in Fairfax this summer and opening a second location in Arlington at The Crossing Clarendon (2832 Wilson Boulevard); overseen by executive chef Omar Hegazi, Tawle will be a casual, communal Middle Eastern restaurant focused on kebabs served family-style, prix-fixe, or a la carte, and the Arlington outpost will include what the owners call “a really stunning rooftop bar.”" - Tierney Plumb

We visited from out of town. An amazing shopping center. Quaint mall with parking access leading to Clarendon. The lights and ambiance is beautiful. There is a nice playground and sitting area in the middle and a Whole Foods across the street.

Google
Upscale shopping district that includes Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Whole Foods. There are several dining options including Starbucks and ice cream. There is underground parking in a parking garage. Whole Foods has their own small parking lot. There is very limited paid street parking and this area is best accessed by public transit or by foot.

Google
This open air shopping center in Clarendon has gone thru some changes to find it's niche. The Apple store and Crate and Barrel get good business but most of the stores are struggling (Barnes&Noble, Williams Sonoma/Pottery Barn) or closed, The commercial area is subsidized by the surrounding condos. There is a nice playground and sitting area in the middle and a Whole Foods across the street.

Good location to visit with plenty of nice sidewalks

Google
Absolutely love taking my kiddos to this area. The water fall and the park is super neat. Kids enjoy the park. I love that it is fake grass - so no allergies. Barnes and Nobles is right at the center of it all.

Google
This place has remodel the whole courtyard with a beautiful new playground. The general contractor and design team have done a great job. Lots of new stores.

Google
Town square. Not to be missed. Minimal car and truck noise. Safer for young people. More malls need to let people sit instead of cars park.

Irene W.

Google
A strip mall or just stores along the street with places to eat and shop. There's a little playground and seating, and food trucks sometimes .

Yelp
Fun spot in Clarendon that houses tons of different stores. There's plenty to do here and it even features a playground. The parking lot is pretty good and is honestly useful for all of Clarendon if you're willing to pay.

Yelp
This shopping center is handy. There are restaurants, retail stores and even an escape room. Metered parking is limited. There is a garage by the shops. My favorite store is the Container Store.

Yelp
Decent. Barnes and Noble fiction selection could be better, but nice place. I appreciate the lights in the winter time.

Yelp
Came out from DC to visit the Apple store and grab something that was in stock. While there, I also visited the Barnes and Noble and bought several books. When I returned to my vehicle, I had a ticket on the window! I paid via the ParkMobile app, and whoever ticketed me I guess didn't bother to check? Now, I'm going through the hassle of "appealing" the ticket. Seriously regretting coming to this shopping center, will take my money elsewhere next time. Colonial Parking here was not good.

Yelp
Colonial parking is the worse ever. Be careful if you pay with the Mobile app. I got a ticket with a remaining time. I ask the guy why? and he said is the system. The system of what? To pay three times the parking

Yelp
If you have to drive to access this shopping center - forget about it. The parking situation is a mess. In the time it took me to find parking, find the store I was looking for from the parking lot, purchase my item (the least time consuming part of my trip), and find a way to get BACK into the parking lot (at which several doors were locked, requiring me to go to the next street over to get back in the building), I could've driven to Tysons and back - with FREE parking. I should add, the majority of chain stores here are easily accessible at Tysons, Pentagon City, or other nearby locations that are significantly easier to access. I really can't stand this place.

Yelp
I second the other comments about the parking harassment by Colonial Parking. Went for a quick pickup at one of the stores and fed the meter for 20 minutes. Came back to the car in no more than 24 minutes to find a "Violation" notice issued by Colonial Parking. I may have been about 4 minutes into "unpaid" stay, but that does not give a private company the right to impersonate a law enforcement officer "Officer Colonial 560" as stated on the parking notice and to issue a "violation" or "fine". It very much resembles a scam. Unpaid dues to a private company, without a signed contract, should not be characterized as "violation" or "fine", as this seems to be an impersonation of a government-issued document. Feeling trapped.

Yelp
Great shops but be warned of deceptive and predatory towing at the metered parking spaces. CBRE is the property owner and manager for Market Commons and maintains what look like city parking meters around the U shaped drive around the stores. This is deceptive since they are private meters and CBRE enforces parking restrictions through a contract with Advanced Towing. If you are even a minute late they will tow your car and charge $125. If you look at Advanced Towing on Yelp, you'll see the reputation this company has. http://www.yelp.com/biz/... Barnes & Noble staff told us that cars are regularly dropped from Advanced's tow trucks and damaged. CBRE is aware of Advanced Towing's deceptive and predatory practices but continues to use them and ignore complaints. A great way to drive away business. Contact listed for CBRE office is heather.summers@cbre.com

Yelp
Poor customer service - poorly run store - staff needs education. Did not help with an easy exchange issue -- Will not be going back here... I have shopped at the Loft for many years. I am currently pregnant and it is hard for me to find clothes I like and don't feel horrible wearing. The "lounge collection" Loft offers is really nice. My mother took me to this store and graciously bought me a few sweaters. She was in from out of town and bought a few things for herself - so she kept the receipt. When I got home, I noticed there was a hole on the side of the sweater that we didn't notice when purchasing it. I took it back to exchange for the exact same sweater and they were sold out. The girl at the register (who actually said "I remember you from yesterday") said she had to return it and then buy it again in order to ship me the right size. I said it was a gift and my mother really doesn't like to give her credit card over the phone. I also did not want to bother my mom and try to explain all this ridiculous story, confusing her. But of course, it was the only way to get the sweater replaced, so I called her from the store. She was a bit confused and agreed it was ridiculous. She didn't feel comfortable doing an entire additional confusing transaction so I left with no help what so ever from the staff. A manager came over briefly, but did absolutely nothing. The girl was overly sarcastic and rude to me... Meanwhile, there were 4 other staff members on the floor folding clothing while a line of 8 people piled up (before my transaction and after) and many people had to wait. You would think if there is was line and several other people working in a store, they could put another person on a register. But that would make too much sense. I know it's just clothes and I shouldn't be so annoyed -- and I did not have my receipt. But I have to say, it should not have been that big of a deal and I am sure there was another way around it -- without having to be so ridiculous. Either way, I will just write the central office and try to return / exchange it by mail.

Yelp
Formerly Harry's Tap Room - now a steak house, Not a successful transition. First, you have a huge open door onto the kitchen that pours out fluorescent light toward certain seats (not many - but mine). If most of your menu is $30 steaks you should do better. I got a chopped salad that was the crunchiest I ever encountered - so heavy on carrot and radish pieces that I ate less than half. I got the short bib meat hamburger medium - supposedly some pink in the middle. It was overdone, dry, and tasteless. Returning it would have meant spending much more of the evening there. My wife had salmon - it was fine but if you're going to be paying these prices there are much more interesting salmon dishes around town. Maybe the steaks are really good but I'll leave it to others to find out.

Yelp
Watch out for Colonial Parking ticketing. I got one a few days ago 5 minutes after I'd gotten the confirmation from Parkmobile that I was legal. I think there is a quota they have to make and it doesn't matter if you've paid for Parkmobile or not.

Catalina S.

Yelp
I just walked by the famous Market Common Clarendon and the place is infested with roaches in the night. This is so disgusting. I am not sure wjo to talk to about this.

Yelp
The garage is now "completely automated" and no longer accepts validation from the shops in the shopping center. It was $6 for the first hour of parking on a Saturday. We were in the Apple store for about 20 minutes and paid $6 to get out of the garage. Forget it.

Shaunica P.

Yelp
I'm going to second the dismay at the loop parking rules -- with a car2go (that generally has free on-street parking), I ran into Barnes & Noble to pick up a book that was on hold at the checkout, grabbed an iced coffee, neither of which had a line, and the whole of which took maybe four minutes total. By the time I got back to my car, surprise! An $18 ticket. This is how you chase away customers for good. I'll never go back if I can help it, which is a shame, because I used to really like going there when I worked nearby.

Adrienne N.

Yelp
We love the Indian place there, Zaika. But the "on street" parking in the circle changed their rules and we got an $18 ticket from colonial parking. Can a company give you a ticket? - 9PM on SUNDAY. parking enforced 7 days a week until 11pm. no clear posted signs. you have to read the meter and it is different rules from the rest of Arlington. BUYER BEWARE. we aren't going back

Yelp
BEWARE! To save money, they just installed unmanned parking garage booths at all garage exits. The machine ate my ticket and no answered the phone number. I spent 30 minutes looking for someone to let me out. What a stupid system!

Laura R.

Yelp
The actual shopping here is nice. I love the Container Store. Their staff are always nice. There are lots of great places to eat nearby like Nicecream and Cheesecake Factory. Whole Foods is there too. Unfortunately, I only go there if I must. The metro is near, but I have to drive. Parking is tight. The center has a garage, but it is over-priced and poorly managed.
