The Crossvines is an event space with a golf course, and an on-site restaurant in Poolesville just opened today. They do not take reservations larger than four, but they were able to accommodate my party of 7. My friends and I gathered to celebrate my engagement. The service was as expected on opening day, but the food and drinks were worth the wait.
For drinks, my party enjoyed various glasses of wine (including Prosecco, Front Porch White, and more), beer (especially Crooked Drive), $20 flight of
Celebration Rose, Front Porch White, and Barn Door Red, and various cocktails (including CV Transfusion, Summer Peach Ginger Mash, Summer Sunrise Sangria, and The Emerald).
For appetizers, my party enjoyed the Crossvines Cheese and Charcuterie, which consisted of local cheeses (including Blue Cheese, Manchego), preserved meats (including Prosciutto and Salami), sesame breadsticks, honeycomb, roasted marcona almonds, and whole grain mustard, and the Beet and Beef Tartare, which consisted of pickled beets and beef tartare (with strong mustard taste) served with a crispy thin sheet of rice paper. The Crispy Chicken Wings were tasty, but I'm not sure why it came with the Dijon Dill Aioli instead of a Cool Ranch Dipping Sauce. The wings were made in-house, and the meat fell off the bone.
For entrees, my party enjoyed Badger Flame Beet Salad, King Salmon, Wild Chesapeake Bay Rockfish, Crispy Murray's Chicken, and Steak Frites. All of the Sea and Pasture dishes were cooked to perfection and tender. The hand cut fries that accompanied the Steak Frites were crinkle cut, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and had the right amount of seasoning (salt, garlic, and parsley).
