Where To Eat & Drink In St. Louis - The Infatuation

"With its dark lighting, pinball machines, and rotating beer specials, the Crow’s Nest in Maplewood is the perfect place to go on a first date, or to just stop by with your friend who moved here for college and never left. Play some arcade games over a few beers, and if talking about your job and your favorite constellation develops into an actual connection, you can get a burger and some chili cheese fries to share. But if instead your date can’t stop talking about his or her podcast about their cat, hope that the bar turns on the large projector they use to play old movies so the two of you can take a break from talking." - jen maylack

Google
Stumbled across this late night food spot after a baseball game. It’s on the main drag of Manchester, with a good amount of street parking late at night, right across from the Schnucks grocery store. Walking in, it kind of gives a heavy metal/grunge feel, but the service and the people are very friendly. They have a game room next-door with two bars so you can get your drink really quick. We ordered the hot honey, chicken sandwich, and the burger, which were both good, and we enjoyed quick fast service. Just thrilled that they have a late night spot like this with a pretty expansive menu and a quick service. Would love to go back to the heavy metal brunch here soon and check out what that is all about. Definitely one of the good late night eat spots in a very limited St. Louis market.

Google
This is one of those rare spots that perfectly blends character, comfort, and creativity. The atmosphere is dark and cozy with a quirky, rock-and-roll edge — from pinball machines to retro movie projections — making it feel both unique and welcoming. The menu takes bar food to the next level, with standouts like the pulled pork, deep-fried deviled eggs, and burgers. Their beer list is packed with local craft favorites, and the cocktails are just as thoughtfully crafted. On top of it all, the service is friendly and genuine, adding to the laid-back vibe. Whether you’re there for brunch, dinner, or just a drink.

Google
As a vegetarian metalhead, this is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis. I have a great meal and experience every time I go. There are multiple options on the menu for me, I feel comfortable no matter where I'm seated, but I really dig the deck outback (heaters in colder weather). Definitely a staple for me. Never leave us, Crows Nest!

Google
We had a family brunch on Christmas Eve 2025 at 11:30 am. None of us (11 total) had been there before. We’re a bit eclectic group. ALL of us had a fantastic time. Food, service, atmosphere was all fantastic. Menus are actual vintage album covers. We also learned that one of my nieces is pregnant!!! Yay, Maddy and Trey Launius!!!

Google
As always a great time and great food! Went recently for brunch and got the Eggs Beni with the side of hash brown casserole. Brunch, lunch, or dinner you'll never be disappointed.

Google
Great bar with a great beer selection and great food. Today I had the Wisconsin burger and just like their other burgers, it was outstanding. My husband had the fried tomato sandwich and loved it. I strongly recommend the place for brunch. Their slinger is so good. There is a nice big patio out back that's covered and heated. However, people do smoke on the patio so if that bothers you, you're better off eating inside.

Google
The grilled salmon BLT and seasoned waffle fries were absolutely incredible! The music and movie-themed vibes spoke directly to me! My server/bartender was great! My first time visiting and I’ll definitely be back!

Google
On the weekends they do a Heavy Metal Brunch. So if you're tired of all the hoity-toity brunches with mimosas and stuck-up people, come check out The Crow's Nest on the weekends. The food is delicious, the vibe is rockin' and the staff is friendly. We started with their deep fried deviled eggs. They were crunchy and full of layers of flavors and textures. I ordered the Slinger which was a generous portion of beef, chili and a perfectly cooked egg on top of a pile of potatoes. My friend ordered the Bowl of Slop. It wasn't the prettiest of dishes however the taste was amazing! We got there right at open and the place was packed within 30 minutes. They have very limited hours for their brunch so check the website before you come.

Yelp
I've never been dissappointed with Crow's Nest; their food, service and ambiance is amazing every time. This place is a Maplewood staple ‍

Yelp
I met friends for drinks on their heated patio on a cold Tuesday evening. There was lots of space and seating on the patio. Plenty of free parking nearby. I did not see any staff members come out to the patio. Loud metal music was piped into the patio area - I thought it was too loud but that's kind of their thing. They have food but I did not eat this visit.

Yelp
Cute drinks! Small hole in the wall pub. Cute pics on the wall. Full menu. Cute drink list . Reasonable prices. Bar staff friendly. Street parking available but it's easier to park across the street on the Schnucks lot and walk across the street. I only ordered a drink called Drop a Bitch which consisted of Deep Eddy Lemon , Raspberry Liqueur and lemonade. It tastes like a snow cone . I hoped it would have been bigger .

Yelp
Breakfast metal brunch.... Don't get the burger. Absolutely no taste. I had two bites and took it home to my son who eats everything....he took a bite and said, "why is there no taste." Needless to say - $20 in the trash. I feel guilty.

Yelp
This is nifty hidden gem! The vibe is cool with the menus being on album covers and the overall theme being semi rock and roll/grunge in my opinion. Food is fantastic and the drinks are good! The staff I'm here is very kind and helpful as I can never make a decision. I have only been a few times but will be back!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour with coworkers to decompress and chill. The vibes in this place were low key and laid back. There is plenty of parking across the street as well as some parking directly in front, but limited to 2 hours. We sat at the bar. There are also some booths you can sit at. Our server was polite and took care of us right away.I ordered a drop-a-b**** cocktail. It was smooth and gave me a spiked iced tea vibe. I also ordered the honey hot mac and cheese. The chicken was juicy, and delicious, with a crunchy crust. The hot honey was absolutely amazing. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and flavourful. I'm not a fan of blue cheese so i could've done without it, but if you like it, then go for it. There are so many cool little Knick knacks around this place, and they are expanding to the unit next door so they will have some video games. Nice hidden gem in Maplewood!

Yelp
I went here with a friend last night for drinks. The bar area did not have seats for two people so me and my friend sat at the table. We both got the same type of drinks each. The first drink we got was the drop a B drink, which consists of the sugar rim drink. The second drink was the hedgehog. Which is fruitier than the first thing and tasted lighter in alcohol content. I got the frisco melt sandwich with waffle fries for entree. My friend got their burgers and waffle fries. The food was good here.

Yelp
This was my first time trying this place and the food was good! Based on what I read from the menu I thought this meal was going to be more on the basic side but I was definitely wrong, there was nothing basic about this dish. Theac and cheese had a deeper flavor profile than other Mac and cheese dishes I've tried. Also the hot honey chicken was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy with a crispy outer layer. The inside of the bar was pretty small and narrow, so it was a bit of a tight squeeze getting to a seat.

Yelp
Authentically St. Louis. Littered with pop culture, punk rock, and St. Louis flare this divey haunt serves up some solid eats. When you walk in, the walls are inundated with artwork and an old school movie is on the projector. Menus are printed in old record books. We got some cheese curds and fried pickles to start. The fried pickles are chunked up spears which is amazing. i love fried pickle spears. They were crispy, salty, and still super juicy. Plus, the sauce was wonderful. The cheese curds were just as great. Please, dip them in the tomato jam! It is sweet, savory, and acidic. Absolutely beautiful. The steak sandwich was great as well. A nice ciabatta roll with crispy onions, medium rare steak sliced thin, and some jalapeno cheese sauce. Absolutely wonderful. All of the workers were wonderful. I am not sure if they all share roles, but we did not have just 1 server. Every server would periodically check in, give refills, take orders, etc. Not sure if that is the norm but I thought it was a cool concept to have communal serving. All in all, an amazing spot. Not upscale, not stuffy. Just a welcoming eatery for any and all to enjoy some wonderfully executed bar fare!

Yelp
We were looking for a brunch spot on a rainy Saturday and ended up on the covered patio at the Crow's Nest for their "Metal Brunch". I had an Irish Coffee to warm me up, and it was standard but hit the spot. I had the Eggs Beni which were just alright. The breaded and fried poached eggs were a bit too much for me, and the fried capers made the dish too salty for my taste, so I ended up trying to avoid them. The hashbrown casserole was good but a much tinier serving than expected, so I wouldn't say they are worth the upcharge. My bf liked his Breakfast Sandwich, and the Brunch Burger sounds good, so we may be back to try it out again at some point.

Yelp
I love sitting and eating at the bar here. All sorts of old school decor around the bar/restaurant. It's a lil' dark on the inside and they do have outdoor seating outback. Good music playing usually, too. They have great food, been here a number of times and never disappointed with food or service. Give this place a try - it's worth it!

Yelp
Great bar. Great atmosphere. Good beer selection. I was there just for beers with a friend. Service was a bit spotty: at times attentive but at other times not at all.
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, loud music and great food. The weather was wonderful so we sat on the patio. We got the fried pickles and cheeseburgers with fries. So good! Service is always impeccable. If you are lucky you might even get a visit from Carl the resident cat.

Yelp
Nice spot to go w friends, at least I did anyway. Service was cool and fast. Their signature drinks are good and they accompany the food well. I got a burger that was cooked nicely and it was juicy. The loudness is expected and the clientele and staff seem to blend well together. Felt nostalgic and new at the same time which is kinda cool.

Yelp
On a Saturday night we arrived at 6 pm... What was weird- Sign stating "Seat Yourself" However signs on the side tables say "Reserved for Diners" The place looks like a rock-and-roll shotgun bar, but the food is great. Monica (the waitress ) quickly came to my table to get my order... I asked for 2 menus and an unsweet "no ice" tea. The menu's outsides resembles album covers. For $20- I missed a side that was included with the salmon BLT. A quick decision of black beans and rice was a good decision. The salmon BLT had long bacon coming out the sides of the sandwich. Personally, I prefer crisper bacon, but the salmon was cooked great. All were put on a toasted roll. My friend ordered and received a steak salad and said it was good. This is more of a restaurant by food and location, but visually and set-up... they are trying to be a bar. Know the attitude is side-stepping the ambiance and the bar plus the "Seat Yourself" sign. Arrive early and grab a side booth- order some of this great food. (My friend said he had come here before and the had musicians then, but there was none on this Saturday.

Yelp
This is a unique, creative, vibe-inducing, teetering-towards-divey, bar and restaurant with great service, elevated bar food, and nicely executed cocktails. Joined a group of people after an evening fundraiser event. Enjoyed some local beer and yummy appetizers. Our server was very attentive and super friendly. What we had: - Fried Deviled Eggs: (4.5/5) GET THIS. So many layers of flavors and textures in one bite! - cheese curds: (3.75/5) Decent and as expected - pork poutine: (4/5) good stuff! A bit of spice in the sauce, which I liked! Waffle fries were surprising to me. - chili cheese fries (4.25/5) I liked these better than the pountine. Very tasty!

Yelp
This place is not trying to be anything but a great place to come hang out at with your friends and eat some well prepared chow. Everything I have eaten here has been absolutely three napkin, chin wiping delicious and the waffle fries! They are not only the support to the Sammie's I've had but also 'the meal,' na'mean?! Dayum.
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning so it was very slow service. We chose to sit on their patio which I had no idea until we were already seated that it allowed smoking. Bleh! We were seated at 10:39am. Our waiter came to us 20 mins later so by then we knew what we wanted to eat and drink. We asked for water too. We received our alcoholic drinks at 11:05am but not any water. Our food arrived at 11:16am. I know this may sound strange but I really loved that they grill the breakfast patties. It had a smokey taste to it. There were dried cranberries in the berry mix on top of the french toast I ordered so definitely an interesting take. There was plenty of custard sauce too. Maybe too much because my toast was waterboarding in it!

Yelp
I went to the Crow's Nest for dinner earlier this week and met a friend there around 7:30. Since neither of us had been before, we did not know what to expect. When I walked in, they had a "seat yourself" sign, but there were not any tables available inside so I made my way to the back patio area where they had it covered and heated. My only complaint is that smoking is allowed out there on the patio so it was not the best atmosphere for dinner, but it was too late, we were already there and seated. The server brought us a cocktail menu and some food menus. This is typical bar for in my opinion, but the cocktail list was nice and they had some good options for cocktails. Our server took our drink orders and gave us time to look at the menu. Once the drinks were delivered, my cocktail was tasty, but my friend said his margarita was just too sour so while we had hoped for the server to come over, she was missing for about 10 minutes as she was slammed with other tables and running food and drinks all over the place. When she did come to the table to check in, my friend asked for them to add something to the margarita so that it wasn't so sour. She also took our food order at that time. I asked for the macaroni and cheese since it was the only think on the menu that I wanted to eat. Other menu items were okay looking, but nothing really caught my attention. Once the drink was remade it was brought back over by the server and my friends said that it tasted better. And then a few minutes later our food arrived and we ate our meals. His sandwich was the turkey club which he enjoyed, but made a comment that the truly and cheese were cold while the bread was toasted so he wanted to take it home for lunch the next day to reheat it and toast it properly. Overall, this was a decent place for drinks. But I don't think I would go again for the food.

Yelp
Super great spot in Maplewood shopping area. Outdoor seating & heavy metal themed bar area. Restrooms are gender neutral! But could use a baby changing station. Brunch was stellar-- cocktail & drink menu was extensive and included several mocktail options! I really wish they had a few more gluten free options. Server was extremely busy and kitchen was backed up, but we expected this for the time (noon, Sunday of Memorial wkd) and with a large group.

Eva G.

Yelp
Awful vibes. Went to have fun but if you are not metal you are not welcome. We wasted $20+ for them to skip everything that we chose.

Yelp
Service is not Worth the food- So not one chance -not two -but THREE chances given and because of this one single factor I will not return and I have told everyone about my experience S - it's the same little man with his angry little glare and ridiculous mustache and his trendy little beanie EVERY SINGLE TIME - the rudest - unprofessional -a judge mental little jerk - I mean how dare I come in for lunch?! And how dare I sit at his dirty unkept bar. My boss can easily spend 200 bucks here for our lunches for the three of us - but because of little dude attitude we will no longer be spending money at this establishment - there are plenty of Ither wonderful delicious restaurants with cordial and pleasing service. You know who are dude - all these reviews are about you and I see a common theme.
google avatar

Joseph G.

Yelp
Food took forever, random dude started talking to me about new orleans mardi gras and now i have to go to this random mexican restaurant i cant with ts
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
I was impressed. Didn't know what to expect. This is an "American fare" restaurant with appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, entrees and several eclectic cocktails with creative names such "Tequila Montoya" from the movie Princess Bride. Yet, it is NOT greasy pub fare. There's an entire section on vegetarian sandwiches. I actually got a turkey reuben in that I like reubens but corned beef is a bit fatty usually - so the turkey option is standard on the menu. There are seats both inside and on a back patio. Inside probably only seats about 40 people - which can be crowded - but service is fast and great. There's a few TV screens and some heavy metal atmosphere/ambiance to it.
google avatar

Yelp
This little gem of an establishment is located in Maplewood. Interestingly decorated with a kitschy nostalgic take. The service is very good and the food is very well prepared. On a recent visit, I had the chicken Philly and a side house salad. My dinner date had the same but with waffle fries. My friend Bryan had a smash burger and fries. We were all quite satisfied. The foods quality was quite good for a bar and grill type of place. The chicken Philly were flavorful and the salad was delicious. Priced very nicely in the under 20 pee entre range.i highly recommend the crows nest.
google avatar

Ali L.

Yelp
I had the grilled cheese and the drink called "Go Buck Yourself." The grilled cheese was very unique, and that it had slices of green apple and tomato paste on it. It was extra cheesy and very yummy. The drink included in the description that it had lemon - it was very tart and great for anyone who likes sour candy. It can get really busy at night, but the service was quick and very accommodating. It has a fun dive bar feel. Will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Colton F.

Yelp
Great dive bar located right off Manchester in Maplewood. Great beer selection and great area for outdoor seating. The place offers a good selection of vegetarian options as well. The service was quick and friendly. They offered their food recommendations to which they did not disappoint. Ended up getting the portobello Reuben which was delicious and filling. Parked in the street though not sure about an additional parking lot. Would recommend for a casual lunch spot in Maplewood
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Crazy good food in a fun, retro dive-bar atmosphere. Super-friendly service and easy parking and access from the public lot in back. Note that music is loud, and typically punk or metal, so if you don't want to eat around that, probably not your place. Note that there is a covered back deck that isn't as loud, but it's not always open. Great place!!
google avatar

Renee I.

Yelp
With so many dining options in Maplewood you might be tempted to walk in by this place as it looks like a dive bar- but don't! They have some great food and inventive cocktails (don't make me cuke as an example). Several beer options but only Chardonnay or Cab for wine. Food options are mostly sandwiches and burgers but they do have salads soup etc. Menus are cleverly housed in old album covers. I ordered bacon BLT with a side salad. The sandwich was delicious although the salmon was probably a tad overcooked. The salad was great- lots of cheese and with the Worcestershire vinaigrette I was impressed. There were 5 of us and everyone seemed happy with their food. Seating options are limited: either small booths or tables with backless stools. Our waitress was good.
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
Dive bar, with super fun deco...but wait! Here comes the food. I had the hot honey chicken sandwich and my friend had the fish and chips. It was great, staff was courteous. Definitely will be back
google avatar

RR T.

Yelp
Yep. Great pick for our day in saint Louis. The ambiance is retro 80's/90's. There's a projector playing old film in one wall. Everything we ordered was delicious. The vegetarian selections were diverse and plentiful. The staff was friendly. Couldn't ask for anything more. This place will hit all your spots. The only thing we didn't order was alcohol but I'm sure that would have been a banger too.
google avatar

Agnieszka B.

Yelp
I got some sort of patty melt and tried my friend's Mac and cheese. It was excellent. Such a fantastic spot. I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in STL

Abby B.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING. We went for dinner on a Sunday night and had an amazing experience. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The Frisco melt was 10/10. The Salmon BLT was also very tasty and it came with a whole salmon filet on it. The Hot Honey Mac was 10/10 as well. We will be returning!!! We will definitely will be recommending this place to others.
google avatar

Margaret S.

Yelp
Recently ate lunch at the crow's nest on a gorgeous September afternoon. The food was good but the service was a bit spotty. So often I feel like people who eat outside are forgotten about. The cheeseburger was good, but the fries were cold by the time they got out to us. Would absolutely come back though - it's a great spot in Maplewood.
google avatar

Güneş Ö.

Yelp
I ordered Chili Cheese fries, was ok. My partner ordered a steak sandwich and there was very little steak in it. + Civil Life American Brown always good! We were here for meeting Game Devs, was such great time!
google avatar

Audrey B.

Yelp
Went for heavy metal brunch!! Starting with the food.... it was great. A bit pricey for such a casual place, but it was very good. As a vegetarian, I'm always thrilled to have multiple options especially when they're dishes I can't normally have like the biscuits and gravy. I also loved the walnut pesto eggs. They were unique and very green. I was interested in the French toast dish but didn't want to spend more so maybe next time. Service was good, prompt. We enjoyed the heavy metal playing but it was a little too loud. Had to really raise our voices to have a conversation.
google avatar

Hannah M.

Yelp
Oh my god, where to begin. Everything we tried was amazing. For an appetizer we ordered cheese curds. They were phenomenal - crispy, cheesy, gooey, and tasted really fresh. They come with ranch and tomato jam for dipping. The ranch is top notch, not sure what it was that makes it SO good but I could have drank it with a straw. For mains I got the Salmon BLT and my partner got the Wisconsin Burger. The Salmon BLT had a lot going on but it all came together in the best way. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The walnut pesto mayo made sure the sandwich wasn't dry and added an awesome herby flavor. I love capers because they add such a nice saltiness to anything they're in, and frying them just kicks that up a notch and makes them even better. And of course bacon, everything is better with bacon. The Wisconsin Burger was also incredible. As I said we loved the cheese curds, and topping a burger with them is genius. It added a perfect gooey, cheesy layer. The atmosphere of this place is really cool. I love that their menu is inside different record covers! We will be back for sure
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
Awesome music, good foot and great atmosphere. Overboard was playing on the projector with French subtitles. It was a great brunch experience - metal brunch!!

Tom H.

Yelp
We just had a snack. That was ok. Service could have been significantly better. Good view of river.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Excellent food! The pork poutine is a must have appetizer. The best. I had the salmon BLT which was fantastic with the green beans which were just so-so. Hubby had the green chili burger and fries and loved it. The decor is... unique. I'll leave it at that. But it was a real enjoyable lunch.
google avatar

Suzane C.

Yelp
Noise is the reason I gave this only a rating of two. I visited this restaurant twice during the supper hours and the noise was so overwhelming that I resorted to texting my companion who was just a few feet away from me across the table. The place had good food and a good selection of items. I even tried a few things there that I never have tasted. The feel is primarily that of a pub that serves food. There is an outdoor dining area that if you go, I highly suggest you consider being seated at. I like to go to a restaurant that offers both good food and a good environment to enjoy it. This location only has good food.
google avatar

Phillip A.

Yelp
It's a confusing place, It's a place that is hipster, has the whole look, but whereas most places that are hipster have cheap fare, The Crow's Nest isn't really cheap. The average sandwich is between $16/17, as someone who eats ALOT of sandwiches, I can say that's pretty high up there on the sandwich scale. I will say that the food they have is very good. The decor is very hipster, down to the dirty bathroom. So all in all, it's a hipster bar with non-hipster prices and better than your average hipster bar food.
google avatar

Bob P.

Yelp
Talk about eclectic!! Your menu comes in an old album cover. It spews 'local bar' with emphasis on local! Understand, we're old, but, can't wait to bring the kids back for their 'metal brunch'!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Came in right after they opened for Saturday metal brunch and it was packed. Food was great. I had the veggie huevos rancheros. We sat on the heated patio, which was super warm and cozy. Will definitely return next time we're in STL.
google avatar

Kelly P.

Yelp
Great bar, food, local beer list and patio! I have been to The Crow's Nest several times and had wonderful experiences each time! My most recent visit was to check out the new patio. What a great patio! Covered, heaters, lounge areas and dog friendly! We went on the Sunday metal brunch and the food was delicious! I had the savory, green eggs and ham sandwich with waffle fries....so good! The eggs were cooked perfectly with pesto inside. I love their waffle fries! I have also had food off of their regular menu as well and enjoyed that as well. They have an extensive local craft beer menu and a unique signature cocktail list. The Crow's nest is the place to go for a night out to have drinks and dinner or on a weekend afternoon for drinks or the metal brunch. If all of that isn't enough, the staff are also friendly and welcoming! I am looking forward to spending more time on their patio!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite places for a drink, brunch or a good meal. Walking into the bar feels like walking back into my old college room, replete with posters, oddities and cult classics playing on the large screen. The food always slaps, especially the hot honey chicken. I tried the stuffed mushrooms for the first time last night and they were covered in cheesy goodness and cooked to perfection. The menus are all on old record covers and the Heavy Metal Brunch on Sundays is the perfect hangover cure. Check it out the next time you're in Maplewood! The specials are always a good option, as well.

Eric A.

Yelp
Encountered the laziest, most incompetent, and aloof waitress I have ever seen. So sorry I chose to visit your establishment and bother you while you were sitting around not doing much of anything. Thought you might want the business so your employer could continue to pay you, but I suppose that is the least of your worries. I lost my desire to ever return to this place.....just like you lost your tip..Do better.
