The Best New Restaurants to Try This Fall | Bon Appétit

"Led by James Beard–nominated chef Thai Dang in collaboration with Lettuce Entertain You, this River North spot expands beyond Dang’s Vietnamese focus into broader Southeast Asian cuisine with shareable plates like sugarcane beef wrapped in betel leaves, clay pot lobster pad Thai, and crispy prawn toast served on Chinese donuts; for Dang it’s a full-circle moment after starting his career with Lettuce Entertain You." - ByKate Kassin

An excellent Thai restaurant in Paris Papaya salad was quite good despite not being Thai spicy (you can ask for some chili and fish sauce to your like) The angus beef was excellent and its dipping sauce as well. My chicken green curry was a little watery but quite tasty. All in all, tables are too close to one & another but the place is enjoyable Happy to come back and taste different food again! Too bad it misses Thai spiciness tho!

I’m Thai, and I can say the flavors are authentically Thai. However, some ingredients are a bit off—for example, Pad Thai should have garlic chives (ใบกุ่ยช่าย), not coriander (ผักชี). The service could also be improved. When paying by card, the machine prompts for a tip of 10–20%. This feels unnecessary—we’re not in the USA. At the very least, it should clearly give the option to select “No tip.” in a SMALL corner. The prices are quite expensive compared to other Thai restaurants in Paris.

The only thing crying after a lunch at Crying Tiger is you—out of joy! I had a flavorful chicken satay with a fresh coriander salad, paired with their homemade iced tea (not sugary at all, just as I like it). A perfect combo for a warm Saturday afternoon. I’m not usually a big fan of Thai food, but this was one of the best experiences I’ve had in the genre. The staff were friendly, smiling, and fast, and the mixed crowd of locals and shoppers gave the place a great vibe. We didn’t manage to get a table outside—our fault for not booking—but it hardly mattered. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in the 6th!

Love the food. Love the service. It’s my 3rd time here, Elo is amazing and really funny. Gives out good recommendation!!! And they are expat / foreign friendly.

Now I know why the tiger is crying… Had wanted to try this place for a while as often looks busy when we walk past. The food was really excellent, one of the best pad Thai I’ve had outside of Thailand, and the staff were all super friendly. However, we went Saturday lunch time so it was fairly busy, and this meant our drinks took ages to come (it turns out the order wasn’t put through), we had to ask 3 times for water, a broken glass bottle wasn’t cleaned up right away (so there were people stepping over broken glass to get in/out and I was worried about all the little dogs walking past haha!). Being fussy, the beer needed to be a fair bit colder or served in a frosty glass. That being said, all in all it’s a great location with lots of outside seating, serving top notch Thai food and just a few too many little niggles to be a 5 star experience in my book this time.

This small unassuming restaurant in the St. Germaine area was a surprise hit! Who knew that you could have authentic, perfectly seasoned Thai in the heart of Paris? We ordered Tom Yum Goong, which is my litmus test for Thai food. It was incredible. I ordered the Crying Tiger beef dish and my husband ordered the tofu sautéed with mushrooms and basil. The Tiger came with a side a sauce that I wanted to eat with a spoon. We usually eat basil noodles with tofu, so the sautéed tofu was a great option for one avoiding noodles. But the tofu was chopped a little smaller (and not fried as we are accustomed) but it did not detract from the experience at all. We finished with the mango sticky rice which was outstanding. Highly recommend for friendly service and excellent food. It was packed at 7:30 on a Sunday night so definitely make a reservation.

Food is good, not the most authentic, and also on the pricey side. The sausage appetizers are to die for though. Cocktails? Kinda needs more kick.

Fast and friendly service. The beef salad might be the best I’ve ever had! Good seasoning and plenty of meat.
