It was fabulous! Easy to follow and Chef Burgess is an excellent instructor. We learned so much in such a short time. She busted all sorts of old cooking myths we had. She also spoke of nutrition and antioxidants and where to source the best ingredients. Finally, she showed us how to prepare a quick meal without cooking all of the nutrition out of our food. Amazing! We would love to come to a class with her on food and nutrition or plant-based cooking. She is well-read and phenomenal!

Fantastic class with Chef Richard McPeake! He is an excellent instructor. The food was delicious. It was a feast! Got a lot of yummy food and a great experience! My friends and I loved it! We got hands on experience and Chef Richard was very friendly and interesting. He came around and got to know us all a little and gave some personal instruction when we looked like we could use some help. Well worth it! Highly recommend. We’ll come back for more!

My daughter (age 10) did the international baking camp and she absolutely loved it! Everything she brought home was delicious and mostly made from scratch. She loved that a demonstration was given and then she was free to make the recipes on her own. We will definitely do more classes / camps at the Culinary Center of KC!

We had an amazing time learning from Chef Gary & would recommend his instruction, and his recipes! A wonderful experience & memory made.

Chef Catie was fun and knowledgeable. Excellent instructor. It was my first time in your kitchen and I brought my dad who is a foodie but has never been in a cooking class. He’s ready to go back. 😁. I picked this class and he’s going to pick the next one! Kudos!

Google
The Culinary Center of Kansas City offers amazing classes that are so fun to participate in! The staff is superiorly kind, knowledgeable, and will help guide you through everything with ease. The ingredients they provide are top notch, and the drinks keep everything flowing with fun! It's a refreshing and new experience to try for date night. You will not be disappointed!

Been to several classes but fabulous breed making was my absolute favorite. I try to take one or two classes a year and great for date night, girls night , and gifts!

Google
Heather and the team at The Culinary Center were fantastic to work with. They coordinated a last min cooking event for us and group of travel agents as a unique dinner experience, and we have heard nothing but exceptional feedback from our group - the "best event of the year" was thrown around quite a bit. Thank you so much for everything!

Yelp
We've done 4 of the interactive cooking classes. You can choose between differing levels of 'hands on' and they've got a lot of variety. We attended the Cast Iron Cuisine class where you learn the basics of coq au vin, sauté and searing steaks in a cast iron pan. Very engaging instructors and high quality food in a 2+ hour event - great date night idea!

Yelp
First timers here and Martha almost killed it for us. We were first greeted by "Martha" who either seemingly hated her life or just hated kids, which caused me to question if she was the instructor as I would have had a HUGE problem with that, (this was a KIDS cooking class). She tried to block me from entering the classroom area TWICE on the first day, only to reveal there were SEVERAL other parents waiting with their kids! She even offered US a St Patty's headband, and when my son rejected her offer- I figured he would regret that later- so I took one for him WHICH SHE TOOK OUT OF MY HANDS! Once I was able to get past her everyone else seemed nice and welcoming. The second day Martha kept trying to chat with me, repeatedly asking how I was doing today, but with a funky kinda evil looking smirk, which reminded me to not engage again. The first encounter was yet another insufferable attempt to display her "power" (lol) as she told me to sit down and wait in the waiting area. Then she kept a fixed glare at me as I was TRYING to shop in the retail area, with others around that she could have easily attended to, so when she got distracted-we headed back to find plenty of other attendees and their parents seated around the tables. (I'm wondering if the owners have A/V, because I have a feeling they might care, as her attitude is super creepy and front facing customers is not a good fit for her) The Class- my kid was happy and learned a few things! He also cut himself, which was no biggie- but the lack of communication about it from the staff seemed strange. I mean-were budding chefs here, so a little more feedback with the parents would have been nice. Something. Anything! I mean we're working with sharp things, ya know? Regardless at least she had a warmth about her that I appreciated, so that was nice. In all, I am glad my kid had a decent experience- but overall I feel that we can find better classes elsewhere, and certainly without the insufferable Martha lingering like an evil stepmother, I think that factor was certainly the grossest.

Yelp
Fun experience for couples, GNO, or team building. The Culinary staff was super fun and provided directions for every level of expertise in cooking.

Yelp
Enjoyed mixology class. This is fun, we had a group & are ready to up our home entertainment bar offerings. Should be fun to return for other classes.

Yelp
My friend and I took the fabulous bread making class with Katie. It was very well organized and the breads we made were delicious.

Yelp
Always an amazing experience here. We did the "Spanish Tapas" class and it was super informative and helpful. Our instructor was Chef Melissa Houston who was very hands on. The chorizo stuffed dates literally melted in my mouth and I never had imagined they would be that good. They gave many good tips on things from preparing meatballs, cutting ingredients, and general cooking. The place was set up very clean, professional, and efficient. The Gazpacho wasn't my favorite but I've never liked one so that's just me. The flan we didn't make but they explained how.

Yelp
It is always a fun experience taking a cooking class at the Culinary Center. They greeted us at the door and took us back to our classroom. They had salsa and chips next to our name tags. They offered us a cranberry mojito to get started. Bruce was our instructor. He provided easy to follow recipes, helpful tips and tips on using tools in the kitchen. We received plenty of food for a tasting class. After the class, we felt like we could go home and make these recipes. We will definitely continue taking class from the Culinary Center.

Yelp
We took a class here with chef Lisa burgess and it was the most stressful experience ever. I wish I could say it was positive like my friends who recommended it but we paid $218 (including two glasses of wine and class cost) and the whole experience was rushed, supplies were missing and the timing was so off the whole experience was absolute chaos.

Yelp
My first time ever taking a class at The Culinary Center of KC and it did not disappoint! My best friend signed us up for an Italian Vegan class as a Christmas gift and we had a blast. Firstly, the space itself is so fun with the huge industrial kitchen in the back and the other stations along the walls. The staff were SO good and efficient in helping the head chef and us as we went through the menu. I particularly enjoyed how we got to get our hands dirty but also try a few dishes that we didn't have to make ourselves. It was a nice break from time to time and definitely left us feeling nice and full. In regard to the dishes, we started by being served a tuscan white bean soup that was very flavorful and delicious. We then prepped a vinegar cucumber/tomato/onion salad and then moved on to the pasta primavera. Making the pasta was quite fun. All we had to do was chop and saute the veggies, roll out the dough and cook it in the water. We were also served grilled polenta with a tomato sauce and the salad we made was really quite amazing! We were all surprised by how much we liked it for it having only three or four ingredients. The polenta was pretty flavorless, but another nice break and something we weren't as familiar with, so nice to learn something new. Ultimately our pasta was great. It was very filling, to the point where none of us felt 100% by the end because we ate so much! But very fresh and flavorful. The zucchini bread to finish was yummy but a bit gooey and not really in the good way. Flavors all there though! Loved the lemon glaze. We were offered a complimentary glass of wine which we accepted and then we paid the $35 corkage fee for a bottle we brought. The fee seems a little high in my opinion, but we sucked it up. I will definitely be coming back for another class! I loved how interactive they made it and our chef Bruce was great!

Yelp
The food is good. I enjoyed the presentation. We attended an event here tonight. I think they oversold the place. There was no place to sit. The lines were incredibly long, there was only one small food table, with plates on one side for a group of over 120. They claim to do events all the time but I would suggest if you are planning an event here you limit it to 40ppl or less. They were just not prepared to handle this size crowd. There's different rooms, but you can only see the presentation from the main room. You can't even tell it's happening when you're in other rooms. Long story short I would avoid using this place for large events.

Yelp
I came here to take a cookie decorating class. This place is pretty big! You wouldn't think that from the outside. The instructor, Lisa, was great! She was very informative and showed us everything. I'm a baker and I have a hard time with icing cookies so I don't make them. Her cookie and icing recipe was super simple unlike mine. My recipes are complicated it would appear. Hers, are short and still give you excellent results. I had fun icing the cookies even though I'm horrible at it. She made me feel confident that I could do this with a little practice. The table of ladies I sat with were great as well. Everyone had fun! I'm going to look up more classes that they have and see what I can do. Maybe drag my hubs or my 13 year old to one. I highly recommend taking a class here. The picture I added is of the cookies we decorated. These were the examples that Lisa did. Definitely not mine. Lol

Yelp
We have been focusing on gifting "experiences" rather than material things for special occasions. For Mother's Day, we gave our mom a night at the Culinary Center of KC and it was such a wonderful evening. The class we chose was "Mediterranean Meals in a Bowl" and I am thrilled with the recipes. Chef Gary Hild was our instructor and he was knowledgeable and interesting. When you arrive, you can grab a glass of wine or beer and sit down with your party. The class is very interactive and relaxed. The chef started off with a Chickpea Soup, which was flavorful and a touch spicy. We watched him prepare each dish and then got to try them all. The soup was followed by a warm sweet potato dish with cumin and ginger, and then a toasted farro power bowl with seared salmon. I personally loved this demonstration because I am a big "farro fan" but haven't yet found a great recipe to make at home. This will become a regular in my kitchen now. Lastly, Chef Gary finished with a demonstration of a quinoa breakfast bowl, which we then got to make with our group. It was fun to try our hands at making the quinoa and poaching perfect eggs, while Chef Gary walked around and gave everyone tips. Overall, we loved the experience. It's a great way to spend quality time with one another, meet new people, and try new things. I highly recommend it if you're interested in trying something different!

Yelp
I have taken two of the classes they offer here now. Learned how to make pasta from scratch as well as sausage from scratch. Both classes were a great load of knowledge and hands on learning. Will definitely be looking into more classes.

Yelp
This is probably our 5th class but 1st during Covid. Very strict safety precautions and smaller classes. We did still get to cook at dedicated stations. Typically each person has a drink ticket and they can buy additional beverages. This class was full and lots of fun!

Yelp
I loved this place! We took a cooking class there tonight - Up Your Vegetable Game? Vegetarian For Life? Something about vegetables... Chef Gary, as well as our host/director, had great personalities. They made us feel very welcome, anticipating all of our needs, plus just making the class super fun and a very comfortable learning environment. Chef Gary answered all of our questions, whether they were related to the recipe at hand or not. He was a great wealth of knowledge for ya aspiring home cooks. He really helped us understand where to invest in your cooking, your pantry and your ingredients to get the biggest bang for your buck. I'd absolutely LOVE to go back with friends, my sister and for more date nights! How fun to learn all about food together. **I am glad we came after having a small appetizer because while the food was great, it might not be enough if it was your only dinner.

Yelp
Pop that cork!! I attended a Wine 101 class with friends at the Culinary Center. Neither of us had been here before so we were not sure what to expect. We left totally WOWED by this quaint little shop. You walk through the small kitchen supply store and enter the large class room area. They have the full set up- oven, stoves, refrigerator, large presentation area and perfect lighting. There are tables and chairs for the attendees. Everything is nicely arranged so that attendees will be able to talk with each other. The staff at our event was exceptional. They filled our glasses, answered our questions very patiently and thoroughly. They made sure we had everything we needed. I was very impressed with the staff and how attentive they were. The wine class was led by Sommelier Brent Grider. Grider is very knowledgeable and has spent decades in the wine business. His advice is practical and in language suited for the average person. I appreciated his presentation. He was eager to answer questions from the audience and he was very diplomatic in his approach. I was very impressed. This was a two hour course but it went longer because people asked questions and Grider wanted to thoroughly explain the materials. I had no problems with him giving longer instruction. Parking was plentiful, registration was easy and the entire evening was seamless. Quite an enjoyable and educational evening. I will definitely take more classes here. It's all Top Rate. When you attend a class, you get a 10% discount on kitchen products. One more perk!

Yelp
Such a fun place to go and learn about cooking. Whether you want to learn basic knife skills, how to make Paella, or Mexican tamales, or even Cajun cooking. This is the place to go. Everyone is super friendly and super helpful. Last night they had a visiting chef from New Orleans that taught us some boudin, pastalaya, and a super yummy creole ice cream recipe that uses cream cheese. Everything was clean and separated using the county's distancing guidelines. Even so, you can still go up and watch the instructor and ask all the questions you may have. They will even sharpen your knives for you. Their kitchen essentials shop is filled to the brim with great utensils and you can also purchase quality knives here too.

Yelp
What a fun date night learning about making homemade pizzas! Very interactive with great tips! They make everything so easy.

Yelp
Signed up for their "Let's Nail it" event on Halloween. It was a great experience. I had watched the show on Netflix so I was excited to channel my inner creative side & do something fun for a date. They provide all the ingredients, (even a 1 drink -alcohol or not-coupon). People are spread out evenly. Instructors wear mask. It's a fun environment. The hour we had to make our cake goes by fast. I will no longer judge the contestants on the show. I will look for more classes to take here. Highly recommend!! Great for date night, girls night, corporates/team/retreat event.

Yelp
Went to Sushi 101 for a birthday present for my girlfriend. The place was clean, and large to accommodate a group without bumping elbows. The little culinary shop was cute and stocked with fun things to purchase. The staff was excellent! The chefs were very educated and thorough! They gave great instructions and made sure even beginners were comfortable. Had such a fun time learning how to make different styles of sushi and learning the ins and outs of quality, ingredients, and tips/tricks. Thank you for a great experience!

Yelp
This review is only for their knife sharpening services. I took in over a dozen knives and scissors. One knife was clearly dull when I brought it home. Another knife and a pair of scissors were unusable within a few weeks. I will soon have to have all these knives sharpened again somewhere else. I haven't had this experience for 10 years. Since then, I've been to 4 knife shops and never had this problem. I think they have a wonderful shop and great service. Since they are dedicated to educating the public about cooking, one of the most important lessons should be appreciation of sharp knives. I hope they will improve their sharpening skills. By the way, if my knives were unusually dull, I would have had no problem paying more. I just don't think it makes sense to bring home knives that don't seem any better off than when I took them in.

Yelp
My husband and I and a good friend attended a "Wine 101" Class at the Culinary Center of Kansas City last evening. It was a blast! Sommelier Brent Grider led the class, assisted by CCKC staff. In addition to being a long-time member of the Kansas City area restaurant industry, Brent also is an instructor at CCKC. First the facility -- it's in that wonderful, quaint area of old Overland Park (Santa Fe Drive). There's a terrific cooking/baking store in the front with lots of cool offerings for those of us who just can't have enough kitchen gadgets. Walk through the shop and you come to the area where we had the Wine 101 event, which is their "Tuscan Kitchen." Is it wrong that, during the break, I just wanted to oogle all of the amazing, Viking appliances in that space? It's a gorgeous space, designed for cooking and other food/wine demos that they do. Go through a large set of double doors and you will find yet another classroom area. Last night a group of intrepid foodies was learning Knife Skills 101 (and yes, I do plan to take that class) in that space. That class also looked inviting and filled with good information and instruction. Back to Wine 101 -- every participant was seated with a generous plate of nibblies to pair with the various wines as we proceeded through the tasting. Four wines were sampled (I say sampled -- the staff poured generously, and often, Bless them...). Brent's information was detailed and delivered in a fun, jovial atmosphere. He took time to answer all questions and made it not just a fun, but very educational evening. I would recommend this or any other offerings from the CCKC if you're into food and wine and learning. It's wonderful!

Yelp
Well what can you do for fun on a cold blustery day in February? You can take a class at the Culinary Center! So for my friends B-day her daughters thought it would be great to learn to make cannoli! We ventured out arriving at the C.C. you walk through their small retail area. Our class was in the back class room & they had another going on in the front classroom. The classroom areas are nicely decorated & the seating is spacious. The instructor started her demo & was very informative, giving great detail & answering all questions. I love that there is a screen that you can look at to see everything that the instructor is doing. All of our ingredients are all ready pre measured & out on the steel prep tables. This area within the same room but is kind of bunched together. You were given the recipe to follow & now it's your time. We began mixing our ingredients & having a great time. The instructor walks area to make sure there aren't any questions & to help if needed. We were able to sample some bread in the beginning as well as a cake while our food was cooking. The cake & our cannoli recipes were provided for us to take home in a small 'book'. Overall, it was a great experience. The down side to this place is the cost of the class. The pricing is just to expensive! They have quite a bit to offer & I would drive the 35 mins for the class BUT that price is a major deterrent.

Yelp
Horrible experience. They offer cooking classes but do not have enough parking to accommodate a Tuesdays evening class. I would expect the owners to know about the parking issue and ensure parking is available.

Yelp
My elderly father was excited to attend the artisian French baguette class with my mother this past weekend when he took a fall down a flight of stairs breaking several bones in his body. When I called a week prior to the class to reschedule to another class I was coldly advised of the cancellation/refund policy. Zero consideration of them attending another class in the future (this class was already paid for)when my dad is better and out of the hospital. So, not to waste the money, my already stressed out mom luckily was able to find a neighbor to go in their place. Owning a small business myself I understand how difficult it can be to handle no shows / cancellations, etc but come on... the class was paid for and was merely asking to choose another class to attend. I believe this was the 3rd class my family has purchased, but never again. Think twice when booking your class with this company.

Tracy A.

Yelp
Finally was able to schedule a class after have gift certificate for almost year because all the classes are on waitlist constantly. I unfortunately broke foot two days before class, on non weight baring orders from doctor. They refuse to work with you on rescheduling class and you lose your money. That is horrible customer service. I didn't plan on breaking my foot.

Yelp
We came in for their Tuesday lunch. I didn't take a class or shop their store, but I'm not saying that we wouldn't do that (shop their store) sometime in the future. Once you pay, you pick out a place to sit, get your drink and the food is sitting on the table for you. It's a set menu, so you get what you get. Drink and dessert are included for $12. The food was really quite good. It could have been warmer, but I guess maybe they have everything pre-plated. We were there about 30 minutes after they opened, so I'm guessing it had been sitting there at least that long. Besides that, there's a lot of seating options; it's a huge place. Some kids kept parading through with coolers for a class that was starting that afternoon, but since you're mostly at your seat eating, that wasn't a huge big deal. The bathrooms are kind of right in the back dining area, so if space allowed it would be nice to have a little more separation between the table and the toilet, but now I'm just being picky. I'd recommend giving it a shot if you have a free Tuesday, which I rarely do.

Leeann J.

Yelp
I attended the Foodie Film Fest Breaking Bread at the Culinary Center of Kansas City. The venue was delightful with great lighting, beautifully laid out tables and good services. Passover Matzo Ball Soup, Arab Israeli Salad, Maqluba, and Malabi. Each with an explanation, recipes and wine. Followed by movie Breaking Bread that provided more background on food and people. Next one is May 17, I am sorry I can't go but strongly recommend you go.

Yelp
Had a heartbreaking experience here. My boyfriend was diagnosed with cancer a month ago. He made reservations at Culinary Kitchen for a fun date night BEFORE the diagnosis. By the time it rolled around, we were still dealing with some of the aftermath of the disease. We told Culinary Kitchen we would not be able to attend the night of the reservation. Despite hearing our personal story, they would NOT let us move our reservation. I was NOT asking for a refund...only if we could come another night. I thought it would be a simple request. The woman I spoke to, Marty, said they do not make any exceptions and in the past she has rejected people wanting to reschedule for FUNERALS. I told them how much it would mean to us to have a special date night there after a long and stressful time in our lives...and they still wouldn't help us. After the last month, losing this $200 gift certificate was salt in the wound. There is a right and wrong in this situation. Ask yourself: is this a business you want to support? Still hoping they will make the situation right. I'll update when/if we hear back. ------------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE: (response to her comment) Hi Marti, I called and also spoke with a staff member on Sunday morning. We never wanted our money back... only to transfer to another class which would have meant the WORLD to us after our battle with CANCER. I was told our only option was for someone else to drop $130+ dollars to fill our seats in the vegetarian cooking class. I completely understand your policy... but not making an exception for a cancer patient... or someone attending a loved ones funeral (as I was told on the phone) is incredibly hurtful and wrong. Was it really too much to ask to help someone with cancer? Is it really too much to ask to help out someone dealing with a funeral? I can't believe I even need to ask this...

Yelp
I was visiting Overland Park from another state and bought several sets of non seasonal coasters at this shop in mid October. I changed my mind about 3 of the coasters (valued at $14) and called to ask if I could return them in late November when I'd be visiting again. The return policy States 30 days and my return would have been at the 40-day mark. The woman answering the phone put me on hold and then came back and said, "no absolutely not. We just cannot do that." We are talking about new, unused, still in the package items. We are talking 10 days after the time limit. Is really so good (bad?) That a poor customer experience is worth Culinary Center of KC's $14? What a disheartening experience.

Yelp
My husband surprised me for the Advanced Sushi making class as my Christmas gift and it did not disappoint! It was such a fun evening. The instructor was very knowledgeable about sushi, its ingredients, and the technique to making decent sushi at home. During the class we made 4 different types of sushi: sushi roll, nigiri, uramaki (rice on the outside), and maki (rice on the inside). The class was almost 3 hours long and we ate so much sushi! It was a blast to make our sushi together and get tips from the instructor as we went along. I would definitely recommend this class and I'm already looking for another one to take!

Yelp
We had the best time at Sushi 101 class tonight! This is a great event for a small group of friends, date night, or they even offer corporate events! The perfect amount of hands on and informative information on sushi making to take home. The finished product was very tasty and left very full getting to make 2-3 rolls per person! Would definitely consider coming back! Also a great idea for gifts!!

Yelp
I did my first class ever: homemade ravioli with sauces. We did a basic ravioli recipe w/ chicken, goat-cheese and mushroom filling and alfredo sauce. We also did a spinach ravioli with a vegan filling and chunky red sauce. Finally, we did a chocolate ravioli (actual chocolate in dough) with ricotta filling and raspberry/strawberry sauce. Most of the cooking was completed for us. We added eggs to a pre-made dough mix. We did our own rolling, cutting, and placed pre-made filling into the ravioli. We cooked it, ate it and went back to work for the second recipe and so-on. We have left-over dough which we will store in our fridge or freezer Our instructor, Jim Tinkham was great. He is a good speaker and explained cooking tips well. He even came over to our table and fixed our sauce for us! (a little over-cooked alfredo..oops!) 10% off store merchandise when in a cooking class (not counting freezer foods) 1 free alcoholic drink (wine, beer) was complementary + open a tab is optional ;)

Yelp
What a fantastic location! I was tasked with planning a fun event for a meeting I was running and happened upon this location. Thank god I did. We had an absolutely wonderful time and the team couldn't have been happier. Heck, they even figured out how to get me to make edible food. I highly recommend this place for your next event!

Yelp
I love food and love to cook so this place is a match made in heaven for me. The cooks and staff are uber personable. I attended a Wounded Warriors Mexican themed event and had a ball! I would come again for another class and recommend for date night or just family fun! If hands-on learning is your deal, do check them out!

Yelp
We took a class here tonight and not only had a good time but learned how to make some authentic Mexican cuisine. A full meal and two drinks each was included. It is kind of pricey but perfect for a special occasion!

Yelp
When I first walked in Culinary Center, I thought they were a "Pryde's wannabe!" Soon after, I realized how much of an idiot I can be. The shop isn't even really a kitchen shop, it's a teacher of kitchen skills and an event space. Oops. The Center offers up a 6500 square foot space to get your cooking on with teaching kitchens and dining areas to host some serious events. Apparently, food is so therapeutic ( I do agree), they use this a means for offering team-building activities and leadership workshops. Who knew foodies can offer up some great consulting services? I toured the rest of the space and was pretty excited about rolling up my sleeves to get my chef on. If you would rather not get your chef on and taste some of their chefs creations, they offer up their "Dinners on Demand" program - dishes that are packaged with instructions for preparation. Sounds a little too "TV-Dinner" for me but I won't knock it until I get my teeth into it. If you're ready to step your game up in the kitchen arena, their classes seem top-notch so check them out.

Yelp
I wanted to update my last review. After our disappointing experience, the owner reached out to me with the offer to come back and try another class. She was very generous and apologetic, which I appreciated. My husband and I did the Rustic Italian course and it was a big improvement from the French class! We were absolutely stuffed by the end of the class, and everything we made was delicious. This chef was much more knowledgeable and skilled at teaching, and we were able to cook several parts of the meal. I appreciate the owner's offer to let us try another class. We had a great time!

Yelp
Even with COVID restrictions, the Culinary Center of Kansas City is hosting safe, social, practical classes for kids who want to cook. We are looking forward to taking more classes. Thank you!

Yelp
We did our annual office holiday party "All Hands for Hunger" event last night with our doctors and staff. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves...the food was delicious and it was so heartwarming to provide nourishing meals to the families helped by the Rose Brooks Center. Everyone loves the fact that we can have fun together and bless our community with our efforts!! We love the Culinary Center of Kansas City!! Johnson County OBGYN

Yelp
The first I came here was for a Yelp Elite Event and I didn't review this place because that YEE doesn't reflect what they would normally do. My most recent visit here was a food photography class. I believe that wast he first photography class here, but I could be wrong. Usually, the classes taught at this place were some kind of cooking class. There was a small store in the front which led to the kitchen. I'm not sure how many kitchens this place had but it wasn't big. I didn't look at the store so I'm not sure what they sold there. It was pretty small, too. The kitchen would probably comfortably fit probably 20 to 30 people. Their website had a calendar with all of the classes that are offered and the prices per class varies depending on the class. I thought this was a good but small facility for cooking classes or even food photography classes. I might be back depending on what classes will be offered.

Yelp
Came here for a "Cooking for Wine-o's" class and had a FANTASTIC evening. I learned how to make various things that I would normally be a little freaked out about messing up and also got to experiment with other recipes that I wouldn't have thought about making in the first place. Chef Gary was great and knows his stuff. Plus, just hearing him talk about his travels and recommendations on places to go makes you want to go there. Highly recommend taking a class here! (And it's a PERFECT date night)

Yelp
This is a pretty cool place for foodies of all stripes. First, they offer really fun classes. I took one once with a bunch of friends and loved it. If I had one complaint about the classes, it's the price. I would take more if they were just a tad bit less expensive. The front of the place is filled with all sorts of fun kitchen gadgets and doodads. It's the kind of place where you find things you had no idea you needed, but discover you cannot live without. It's also a great place to grab stocking stuffers for the chef in your family at Christmas. One of my hubby's favorite things is their frozen meals. He's not much of a cook himself and I'm not always up for cooking, so grabbing a frozen crockpot meal can make him a happy fellow indeed. They're really tasty and easy to throw together plus, despite being a huge eater, he can get 5-6 servings out of each of them.

Yelp
I was, guessing from the storefront, entering a min Sur Le Table. Wrong. Had I read the Yelps before heading in I would have known, but I was just wandering on errands. Some interesting little gadgety stuff, but nothing I was really interested in buying, which is stunning when you call yourself the "Culinary Center of KC." I'm intrigued by all the (mostly) good reviews about classes here and I will look into it and when I take one or two, I'll update my review. For now, if you need kitchen tools, make the drive to Sur Le Table. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Taking cooking classes here is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do. So for Christmas I signed up my husband and me up for a class. We took "The Art of Smokology, Smoking Meat 101". It was a 4 hour class taught by Chef Richard McPeake, creator of Rib Stars award winning bbq rubs. At first my husband was skeptical, but since he loves to smoke meat and more importantly eat bbq, he decided to try it. He was pleased when we showed up and then class was about 85% men. The class covered a wide variety of valuable information equipment, how to buy and prepare meat, how to smoke brisket, burnt ends, ribs, pork butt chicken, and sausage. They included a book of recipes for sauces, rubs, appetizers and all the need to know smoking temps for meats. The class was an incredibly thorough. And at the end we got to sample all the food, YUM! We left with happy tummies, lots of useful knowledge and now can't wait to bust out smoker...once the weather warms up. This was my fifth class here and I've enjoyed every one. They are worth the money, especially if you love to cook. There's know need to know what you're doing going in. They will teach you all you need to know.

Yelp
Confession: I only ever visit this center for their pop-up lunches every month, but I never leave disappointed. The lunches are VERY affordable (around $14 w/tax), the portions are hearty, and the food itself is creative yet have a feel of being homemade. The lunches also come with a homemade desert, which varies. If you actually eat inside the center, they have plenty of seating, and will even offer complimentary bread and (sometimes) a glass of wine at their wine tasting. The service is also friendly and accommodating. It's worth visiting, if for nothing else the lunches!

Yelp
The Culinary Center of Kansas City is an unassuming store front nestled in old OP but inside there is some pretty awesome things going on. I cannot recommended if you love to cook or are running out good date ideas, check out their website and find something you love. The class are we priced for the time and effort that goes on it. The instructors are knowledgeable and kind. They are always willing to answer questions and take time to work one on one with you if possible. We did the bread making class and it was fantastic. We left with plenty of bread and also a great booklet with recipes and tips and tricks which are useful as I continue to hone my bread making prowess. Highly recommended doing several classes here and I hope to see you there as well.

Yelp
I have been there many times for classes and private events. Last night my husband and I were signed up for the sushi class. I was so sick that day I called to see if I could reschedule. I was told they have a 5 days advance Cancellation policy because the food is bought and readied for the class and the instructor would not be paid. I do understand this part but sometimes in retail you just loose a little to do the right thing for your customers. I would also make sure that when someone buys a class or gift certificate that the extent of this 5 day policy is really covered well in the instructions with a much more detailed explanation. A follow up to this on Jan 29, 2019. I found out from a friend that their class was cancelled last week due to bad weather. I think that is a double standard. Food would have been bought 5 days before so I guess since they are in charge they can make the call when they decide. Not happy at all with their customer service. The manager even told me if someone died they wouldn't get a refund. I was also disappointed to see that another reviewer was given an opportunity to attend another class which is all that I wanted. I acknowledge the response from the culinary staff but honestly I will never go back there again.
