An Eater’s Guide to Prince Edward Island, Canada’s Seafood Destination | Eater

"As the country's premier culinary school located on the island, the institute trains aspiring chefs, pastry artists, and hospitality managers and feeds talent and innovation into the local dining scene; its student‑run dining room offers professionally plated seasonal dishes—examples include seared sea scallops with miso glaze and celeriac purée—served with water views." - Amanda Gabriele

A beautiful location overlooking the bay and the pathway along the shore. We enjoyed the chefs choice salad followed by salmon for lunch. The cappuccino with the lemon tart was a perfect ending. I enjoy school restaurants very much and this did not disappoint.

Excellent service with good food! Definitely a hidden gem in this city! Will visit again for sure! My personal highlight: 1. Coffee cream brûlée The coffee flavor is so rich and it is very smooth! 2. Pan roasted Salmon fillet I hate overcooked salmon which makes the fish dry and chewy. But the salmon served tonight was in excellent condition, with crispy skin being the highlight 😘. It matched well with the dill pesto cream

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience with friends at the Culinary Institute last night. We arrived a few minutes early so we elected to stay in the bar for cocktails while our table was prepped. The drinks were well presented and tasteful. The students and instructors were professionally mindful and engaging without providing a sense of intrusion. We hadn't finished our drinks when we were ushered to our waiting table overlooking the scenic harbour. The table-wait students and instructors extended the display of professionally trained service and hospitality, making the entire experience welcoming and pleasant. The food was perfect in every regard of presentation, texture and taste. Describing savory mouthfuls requires a creative talent beyond my capabilities, but the chorus repeatedly overheard at our table always included the words 'absolutely delicious'. At the evening's conclusion, I reminded myself that this is an educational institution; a classroom for students learning and honing hospitality and culinary arts under the eye of obviously talented instructors. We were well-served and I suspect many others will as well.

This is a hidden gem. The dining room has a stunning view overlooking the mouth of the harbour. The food is fantastic. I always enjoy the fresh pasta dishes. The servers are mostly international students... always interesting to chat with them.

I live on the Island, and my sister visits from Ontario each summer; for years we have been hearing positive reviews of the Institute from friends and finally got around to visiting you last night. As a vegetarian, I was particularly impressed by your willingness to accommodate my needs. Your staff were delightful, professional, and most welcoming. However, our overall experience was a little mixed. First of all, the house-made bread and house-cultured butter were to die for! We started with an attractive garden salad and were both impressed by the quality and variety of the greens, but we found the vinaigrette overly tart and overwhelming. As a vegetarian, I ordered a vegetable strudel with a squash puree which, when it arrived, was a truly beautiful plate, but the strudel itself was rather dry. My sister ordered the tenderloin which, again, was beautifully presented but lacked adequate seasoning. The deserts were a similar experience. Perhaps you had an off day? We'll certainly try again.

awesome! We enjoyed the service and food, every course was perfect. The server asked if we had any food allergies and I am allergic to gluten. my entire meal was based around that, they had gluten free bread to start, usually I just do without so it was a nice touch. The service was the best, the staff made us feel like royalty, so thank you for that. We will be back!!!

Ample parking. Beautiful location right on the water. Very clean inside and out. Met promptly upon arrival. Menus had a lot of choice of innovative dishes, including local products and beverages. Servers very helpful and informative. Food arrived for all six at the same time. Beautiful presentation, temperature good, taste delicious. Wine was chilled and served correctly. I would return here, and I would recommend this establishment to my friends

Google
Simply the difference between eating and dining. Fantastic table service and incredible choices on the menu. Menu changes as chefs create weekly menus. Superb texture flavor and presentation... :-) You will not find anything here prepared with indifference or apathy. Gr8 dining experience, reservations suggested for dining room. For those in a hurry there is a cafeteria style below the dining room. Will be back...

Yelp
Absolutely adore the culinary institute! We are so lucky to have this downtown Charlottetown and it is such a treat to visit! It is fine dining at a great price point and it is always lovely to see what the students are up to. We went for our anniversary dinner and they went above and beyond to make it special with some extra confetti. Everything is always delicious so I can't even begin to recommend things but the complimentary bread basket was absolutely delightful full. We followed it with duck wontons, crispy salty flavourful delight. Mains were brisket over smoked Gouda polenta cake and tomatoes and then a delightful crispy skinned salmon with Parisian potato's over an amazing dill pesto cream sauce. Happy bellies were topped off with an amazing opera cake that came with coffee icecream. Absolutely recommend!!

This a beautiful location with beautiful view of Charlottetown harbour looking out to Victoria Park They served us a beautiful pate hors d'oeuvres. For an appetizer my daughter and I shared oysters in half shells . The main course I have Osso Bucco my wife and daughter had the Crispy Buttermilk Chicken . The service and meal is just wonderful . For Dessserts I had the S, mores Baked Alaska my wife had the coconut creme-brûlée tart and my daughter the strawberry shortcake. I highly recommend people to come to this place.

Yelp
A nice restaurant and worth making a reservation for a window seat overlooking the water. The food was good, but sometimes obvious that students made it... over seasoned, etc.
