The Curb Kaimuki

I tried to stop coming here. I really did. I told myself, “I’ll make coffee at home.” At home?! With what.. my pathetic little grocery-store beans that taste like sadness and paper? Two sips of this coffee and you will be reorganizing your entire life, color coding your calendars, and forgiving your enemies. This espresso is so good and so strong it doesn’t just wake you up... It evicts sleep from your body with a court order. I don't just "grab a cup of coffee" anymore. I calibrate. I optimize. I'm basically one cortado away from becoming a startup founder or a minor superhero. The baristas have become my enabler, my dealer, my therapist, my life coach, and my emergency contact. I’m pretty sure they’d help me hide a body as long as I tipped 20%. Also try the pastries they are delicious. Five Stars. 10/10. I'm not addicted. I'm committed.

My husband takes their signature drink to go, while I try their pour overs at their table. The staff taking our order never rushes their customers even if there is a 6:30am line. After coming here a handful of times, I think I prefer their iced latte drinks over their hot lattes. We usually grab a coffee cake too! -- A solid option in the neighborhood and you can see your delicious coffee being prepared. No wifi but people still have the opportunity to read or do some writing on their laptops. The place is kept clean. It does get a little loud so find yourself a spot on the high top table.

Loved the ambience - it gets popular and I can see why. Great for working/reading at, with large windows to let in sunlight. Flat white/latte with Olympia Coffee's Sweetheart - 3.5 stars Decent medium roast but I personally prefer light roasts.

One of my all-time favorite coffee spots and one of the all around best shops I've ever been to. Not only is the coffee fantastic but everyone working is very nice and the space is authentically and effortlessly cool and welcoming. Would be my regular spot if I lived in Honolulu.

I went for coffee and a snack, and it was wonderful. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. The coffee was excellent (they have a bunch of milk and sweetener options), and my pastry was delicious and fresh (a croissant filled with a sweet calamansi purée and fun crumbles on the top). The shop itself is very clean and inviting, with little cafe tables.

Update 5/15/2025: Showed up for an early 8:30am pastry run with a whole crew to cover more ground. Can confirm we absolutely demolished the almond croissants, pandan and matcha Portuguese egg tarts, walnut chocolate mini loaf, and pistachio yuzu swirl. Not pictured but I loved my silky smooth cortado and the breakfast sandwich was delicious but would have loved for the bread to have been toasted a bit. Staff are still so lovely. Love this spot! :) Original review: Absolutely wonderful spot for a bite and caffeine. Really, really enjoyed my iced hojicha latte with blueberry syrup and oat milk. Their toast with house-made ricotta, chili crisp, poached egg and scallion was also phenomenal. The space is bright with plenty of nice shelf products, lots of yummy sounding eats, creative variety of interesting seasonal beverages, and very friendly staff. Looking forward to my future visits!

I've been a big fan of their coffee for a long time, but never actually made it to the cafe until recently. I loved the spot! It's super easy to get here walking around Kaimuki, or there's free ample parking right behind the business with a rear entrance too. It's cozy with a great bar area, small tables for conversation or work, and a wine and beer selection for evenings. On my visit I had a black iced coffee and a coffee cake; both were delicious! The staff was welcoming and friendly. Prices were reasonable for the quality. I'll definitely be back soon!

Ehhh. Meandered my way into this cafe with the homies and the people working just gave off energy like they did not fw us. And so I don't fw them back. Mean ahh baristas. Anyways the vibe is pretty tight inside, giant wine wall, good for staring at pretending you know what you're loooking at as you wait for a super mid drink. Skip.

I was in need of coffee. I had just picked up a chocolate croissant from The Local General, and coffee would be great. When I arrived there was a sign that said the coffee bar was closed. He: The wine bar is open... Why not? I ordered a glass of the bubbly. I didn't catch the name but it was light with a slight citrus finish. It was really good! The bartender was very sweet. She said she really liked this sparkling wine too. Okay, I had three glasses....LOL! But it went very well with my chocolate croissant. I was able to get some work done, and the space has a different vibe from the morning. So if you get here and you can't get coffee...the wine bar is open...

Came here for a quick coffee break after lunch but didn't get a picture of the coffee, instead got a picture of the wines on the wall lmao. great service, menu looked abundant and scrumptious. Fair value as well, cheaper and tastier than chainbucks, support local as well too. will come to grab a coffee again when in the area!

Their poi banana bread is a core memory in my life, I live in California now and wish I could get loaves of it shipped

Love this place!!! Love the clean lines and relaxed vibes here We ordered the pandan latte, almond croissant, and the passion fruit pie. I would definitely try the passionfruit pie since it has this nice balance of tangy, lightly sweet, creamy with a nice crust. Almond croissant is so delicious as well!! It has a nice all around flavor to it Staff is awesome here too!! Cheers!

I'm not sure how they do it but tea lovers, this is the spot to select. The baristas handle the steep so you don't have to worry about tea bags and it is the perfect amount and mouthfeel. This place was once my go to spot for ice matcha-canos. If you're a matcha lover, the lattes are fun too but the canos give you a chance to taste and appreciate their quality matcha pick. Don't sleep on the tea at The Clurb.

Traditional scones...drier than some bakeries/cafes...and that is fine with me. Blueberry scone is excellent. I got a Flat White...also, very good.

This is now one of my fave spots in Oahu. I was intrigued by their pandan matcha latte so I asked my travel companions to go with me. When we got here yesterday afternoon, they said they ran out of pandan so my friend and I got the lavender matcha latte. My husband got a latte with macadamia nut milk and macadamia nut syrup. We loved our drinks more than we expected! We can back this morning to see if they have the pandan syrup but they said that they're still out of it. Apparently, their owner makes the pandan syrup and they don't know when it'll be available. I will definitely have to go back to try their pandan syrup next time! They sell chocolate bars as well and the flavors and brands are so cool and unique! The space is pretty relaxed. The music is a little loud so it would be hard to work or study there but it's a good space if you want to relax or hang out with friends.

Very nice place with perfect coffee hangout ambiance! I notice a lot of people having work conversations or doing their work on laptop. I can imagine this place bringing the creative in me. We went it only because we had lunch at a place down the street which did not have restrooms. Got a mocha which was on the bitter side and absolutely loved it!

Got their pandan matcha latte which they did a good job of balancing the two flavors as to not overpower the other. Not overly sweet too. $1.25 extra for oat milk is pretty steep imo, and their menu said alternative milk ranges from 0.50-1.25 extra just fyi. Nice service and dog friendly! I'd go back to try the rest of their menu.

This coffee shop was recommended by a friend so we made sure to stop by before we left the island! It was a popular little spot, they have tables inside but we barely snagged the last one while we waited for our drinks! I ordered the Pandan Matcha and my husband got The George - both drinks were perfect for each of us. The Pandan Matcha was fragrant and the macadamia nut milk gave it extra flavor. The George was a stronger coffee flavor and the shaken aspect made it very smooth! Not a very lengthy menu of options here but you can tell they focus on quality. Their customer service was great, still had a smile despite the long lines, and I love their cute cups!

FAVORITE COFFEE AND BAKE SHOP ON OAHU! If I lived in Kaimuki rather than the Westside, I would be flat out broke and overweight lol! To be honest, Oahu has a plenty of great coffee options, some which roast their own coffee. Yet The Curb is somehow the only shop I know on island that focuses on the coffee AND the pastries. I love this place so much that whenever I have a random weekday off, as long as I don't have any morning appointment, I make the drive here. The pastries are why I bypass many other coffee shops for The Curb...and I live on the Westside! I make the trip from the Westside to Kaimuki just for The Curb, even if I have to circle around the block for free street parking, even if the seating area availability is hit or miss. Yes, I'd rather save money for high quality pastries than on parking lol. The main drawback about having to drive from the Westside to Kaimuki on my day off is by the time I arrive after sleeping in and waiting out morning traffic, most special pastries are already sold out. Even with what remains, I've never been disappointed in any pastry. I always prepare to ask for my order "to go," but if a seat opens up, bonus! Chocolate croissant? Bomb. Wild blueberries and cream cheese danish? Bomb. Pasteis de nata (Portuguese egg tart)? Bomb. Walnut financier? Bomb. Canele? Bomb. Black sesame Rice Krispie Treat? Bomb. Crispy brown butter chocolate chip cookie? Bomb! I have an idea...maybe my husband should just buy me pastries from here instead of a personal birthday cake. Jk...or am I? I definitely did treat myself to some of the remaining pastries on my birthday earlier this year. When I'm at a good coffee shop, I would love a great pastry to go with it. When I'm at a good bake shop, I'm hoping for good coffee on the side. The Curb somehow achieves both! My review may lead to even more customers taking up seating and more pastries selling out, but oh well. Can't gate-keep such a great business!

Seems to be a popular coffee spot given the crowd we saw on a rainy Wednesday morning - the line was out the door. The decaf mocha was pretty good but the banana bread was quite underwhelming especially for a cafe in Hawaii?!! The cheddar chive scone was delicious although I'd have preferred it warmed up. Overall, it's definitely a solid coffee spot where you can spend some time working/chilling (if you manage to find a table lol)

Cute hip spot! Ordered an iced latte with macadamia nut syrup and oat milk. Delicious and smooth. Heads up no WiFi. Also quite popular and can get loud especially on a weekend morning. Service was standard.

We were browsing around kaimuki on our way to lunch at pig and lady and stopped by this place for a snack. This place was popular and seems like a lot of young hip locals come by and hang out. The coffees were very good. However I thought the pastries were ok and quite expensive. They have a list of pastries at the register and a small counter but no prices are listed. We tried an early grey crossaint type pastry - it was $9! It was not especially stand out, broke the plastic knife trying to cut into it and it was on the smaller side. I would not recommend their pastries and would suggest checking out bread shop around the corner or pipeline a couple blocks away

The pandan matcha iced with oat milk was so good! Be sure to ask for pandan syrup. It paired perfectly with their chocolate almond croissant. Parking was a bit difficult since it's street parking and we weren't sure where to park. Overall, 9/10.

I always love coming to the curb whether it's to get some work done in the morning or for a little drink when their wine bar opens, it's always a nice time. The only draw back is they don't have wifi, so I usually find myself using my hotspot on my phone. The staff that work here are so friendly and inviting and I love the light that comes in through all of the windows in the front. When I come in the morning to work, I usually bring my dog and get a nice little drink, either a pandan matcha (add extra matcha) or a london vog (half sweet), those have been my two go to's, both iced. Their lattes are good as well! They also have a variety of delicious baked goods every time I go. In the afternoon when the wine bar is open is also very fun. I like to go with my friends and sit at the bar to blow off some steam. Also love that they have parking in the back when good parking in Kaimuki is so hard to come by.

I have to write a review for this place since the coffee is delicious. House made syrups here are fantastic for lattes. The matcha drinks are beyond delicious too. Service was top notch and there is plenty of seating. Apparently the venue becomes a bar at night which I learned.

I stopped by on a whim and ended up with a custom matcha pandan sparkling drink that the staff just kind of made up on the spot and it was solid. I let them get creative with it, and it turned out super refreshing and not too sweet, with that earthy matcha balancing the floral pandan perfectly. Kinda obsessed now. My friends had already tried the pandan and lavender options (both solid), but honestly the best part was the vibe inside. The place has a chill, clean interior, not too cluttered, with just enough plants and soft lighting to make you want to hang out for a bit. Everyone working there was super friendly and down to experiment with drinks, which made the whole experience feel really welcoming. I hear they have events in the evenings and even serve wine if you're into that! But if you're into matcha, floral flavors, or just want to try something new made by people who actually care, give this place a shot. Let them freestyle your drink, you might end up with something weirdly amazing too.

One of the best places to get matcha! This coffee shop is situated on 8th Ave and Waialae, and there's two entrances to the shop (one off the main road, one through the parking lot). There is a private lot where you can get your parking validated, and there is street parking available. The cafe itself has a modern industrial feel, and yet it feels cozy with music playing in the background and plenty of community flyers decorating the board on the wall when you first enter. Plenty of seating is available, but be aware there isn't free wifi here! I visited on a weekday afternoon and had to wait around 10 minutes to order, so expect it to be busy! I got the pandan matcha latte with oat milk, and I appreciated that the cashier taking my order was very friendly! My order came out pretty quickly, around ~5 minutes, despite there being quite a few people in front of me. I honestly loved my drink. It had all the components of what I love about matcha -- creamy/silky with a smooth bitterness, and the sweet pandan flavor was a perfect complement. I've only visited Curb Kaimuki once, but this is now on my list of favorite cafes in the area!

Hip vibes and good coffee. I'd wait to order till you're upfront vs online because they have specials not listed on their website. I got a guava espresso type drink and normally I'm not a super big fan of juice and espresso style drinks but guava went well with it. Great spot before going to Cromwells which is right around the corner. Also lots of space to study or work.

I was looking for a local specialty coffee shop and glad to have found this place. The staff were very nice in providing recommendations. I tried the mac nut latte. The milk was very smooth and the syrup added just enough flavor without making the drink too sweet. I enjoyed it a lot.

What a gem! I love both of their latte (light, flavorful and creamy) - macadamia nut and Pandan. The staff were very nice and help us with suggestions. Ambiance is cozy, comfortable and relaxing if you want to work here for a few hours. Highly recommended!

The curb is a Saturday morning staple in our household (and an every morning weekday stop for my honey when i forget to replace coffee beans at home). They're busy and draw a local crowd in the kaimuki neighborhood, but are quick and provide a quality drink every time. My favorites are the lavender matcha latte or pandan matcha. They also have rotating seasonal menus and delicious bites. The inside of the shop is trendy but non pretentious. There's a small parking lot at the back of the building but it's quite crowded as it shares space with other establishments.

I feel like the Lavender Matcha Latte is always a go-to for me. The lavender is subtle and blends in perfectly with the earthy taste of the matcha. The baked goods are amazingly good - the baker - Hana Quon is extremely talented and I am so glad that they offer her goods here. I always like to sample what they have to offer. Never a miss. The kitchen is also another gem. When they are open I always try to get something because they offer such good food here. The menu changes every so often but I do miss my chili toast... Interior is classy and a spot for intellectuals to gather and work on their own personal projects. There is no wifi here though... Still love coming here though because the vibe is super urban and hip.

Great neighborhood coffee shop (that also sells wine)! Unique coffees and other morning drinks to start your day. The line out the door on Christmas Eve morning was unexpected, but certainly a good sign that this place is not only really good, but also has excellent service. Friendly staff even though it was packed and they easily provide expedited check out if you are buying wine, so you don't have to stand in line. Easy to find with a parking lot in the back and one hour of free parking. I'll definitely be back just to check out their unique selection of wines.

The Curb Kaimuki is the best coffee spot in the Honolulu, Hawaii. The service is always on point. They have different seasonal coffee beans from Heart and Black & White coffee. Good Kaimuki-ish island city vibe atmosphere. Great parking to get coffee to go. This is my morning ritual when I have extra time to go get artisanal coffee in Oahu, Hawaii.

Place was super crowded and noisy. Ordering system was chaotic. I ordered a #5 Colombian Jairo Arcila Lychee pour-over coffee ($6/12 oz). I was told by the admittedly very nice register staff to listen for " (order) Number 5, but you're the second Number 5". However, my coffee was like lemon juice with light watery coffee flavor. I love coffee and happily make my own at home. I could tell these beans had potential to be good, but the extraction was beyond poor. I threw my cup's contents into the sidewalk grass further up the street. One other thing: no food available for sale a little after noon on a Saturday? Weird, what happened?

Cute little coffee shop! The baristas were nice, kind, and informative. I enjoyed the mango tart and the coffee that was ordered. Appears that a lot of locals hang out at this place. The line does get long but the coffee is good! Good AC and a nice place to hang out, study, or catch up with a friend. My order came out really fast! Would come here again

The Curb Kaimuki is on the corner of Waialae and 8th Ave. They share a private parking lot with other establishments in the building but there are limited stalls for this busy spot. If you can find street parking in the residential area then you are lucky. Make sure the read the signs! The place is bright from all the natural light but it is a relatively loud place. There is lots of tables that you can sit on. Customer service is always friendly and they serve caffeinated drinks along with wine! Two of the best things in life. I saw some food items being consumed by others but most people were there for either the wine or a cappuccino. Surprisingly, the cappuccino was the most popular order of the times I've visited. It's a good spot but they do not offer WiFi. They do have a clean restroom though so that's a plus! Cool spot in the Kaimuki area to support.

I visited Curb Kaimuki and really enjoyed it! The food was delicious, and it's definitely a great spot for brunch and wine. Staffs are friendly too.

This review is for Hana Quon sandwich and baked goods only. For every four HQ items you order, you must purchase one of The Curb's drinks. I really liked the roast beef sandwich ($18) on potato bun and the turkey bacon avo sandwich ($18) on your choice of HNL Breadshop ciabatta or sourdough. Both sandwiches were well layered, saucy, and loaded. The ciabatta bread made the sandwich a bit hard to eat as it was chewy, but did pair well otherwise. The earl grey cannele ($8) had a sweet and crispy exterior and soft eggy inside. Would love to try more!

Was looking for a spot to get some coffee and snacks before our hike at manoa falls. Stumbled upon this little spot and loved it. I got the iced pandan matcha, original egg tart and pandan egg tart. I liked the pandan one better but both were great. Nice little spot to get some pick me ups :) mahalo curb coffee!

Chill vibe. Love that there's no WiFi. Staff friendly and efficient. Delicious coffee! Feels like community inside. One hour validated parking too!!

I tried the jammer this time and it was really good! I love that it isn't overly acidic and bitter. I think the oat milk and raw sugar syrup really balanced out the taste for me! I would definitely get this again and I love the portion/size for this!

We came during a rush and the barista was so kind! She gave out good recommendations and when we did order our drinks it came out under 10min! Highly recommend if you want to grab something fast or get some assignments done.

Came here after a hike for breakfast. There's a small parking lot in the back and also plenty of street parking around. Their breakfast sando has probably been one of my favorites. Made on their delicious housemate shio pan bread, the sandwich is unique with its thick egg soufflé and the mac nut romesco really adds a great unique flavor. I also love their pandan matcha latte, a fantastic twist to the usual matcha. Also got the black sesame honey rice krispies treat as a snack to-go. Loved this place. Great people, great ambience, great food, great drinks. Especially love their creative menu options to the usual cafe fare.

Very good coffee and friendly servers but it's awfully trendy. The frat guys talking about bringing "club culture" to X spot. And influencers taking fotos of every corner. I got a flat white and it was only half to 2/3 of the way full in the cup. Not great considering the coffee prices. So the place is sort of off putting. But it's convenient for grabbing a cup while picking up bread at the Bread Store around the corner - in case you haven't already gotten a cup from Bean About Town.

I was so excited to come in and take my cousin for some great coffee on his birthday while he visits from Maui today. His girlfriend got a macadamia nut iced latte and we both got the George. I was sure to leave a good tip. Anticipating a far drive ahead on a hot day, we politely asked one of the baristas, a blonde woman, for some extra ice to fill up our cups. This seemed to upset her since she proceeded to slam down the ice scooper after she messily filled our cups and left ice scattered on the counter. Thankfully the coffee was decent, but the encounter left a bitter taste in our mouths. As someone who works in the industry, I sadly cannot recommend this place to anyone because of such a rude encounter with that barista. Hopefully they hire people who actually want to be there in the future.

I have been coming here for years and they have my favorite matcha. I'm not a coffee drinker but My friends have told me they love their coffee here as well. I love that they have a bakery too! Usually coffee places will outsource their baked goods but everything is made in house. Their chocolate chip cookies are amazing and the last time I was here they had pandan toast! It was my first time trying this and every since I've been hooked. I love that I am supporting a local business and as a bonus you can get amazing bread next door!

This place rocks. The pandan matcha and pandan lattes are sooooo good. Flat white was also solid. I came twice in the 5 days I was visiting Oahu. They also have pastries from Hana Quon, who is an absolute genius. Her laminated Wagyu hot dog was the best thing we ate in our 10 day trip. We also really enjoyed her chocolate eclair. I cannot WAIT to come back and I follow Hana Quon on Instagram to live vicariously through her lolol.

I love The Curb! Anytime I visit Hawai'i I make sure a stop at The Curb is the top of my list! All the baristas are well trained and friendly! I've been wanting to come here for a while since hearing of the baker, whom I recognized also from Boston. We got the coffee cake, Wagyu Hotdog as well as a scone, understanding that most things would be out or close to it since we arrived around 11:30am or so. The baked items were delicious, the matcha pandan was sucked down quickly. Like any place that has a solid following it was understood why there wasn't seating, it's a smaller, but quaint and has tons of things to look at. What wasn't expected was the lack of customer service and overall unwelcoming attitude that we received from the young red haired girl taking our order. My apologies, it's our first time in, there's a ton to look at and we are just making sure that we understood the menu before choosing our vices. Not cool fam.

Tried two drinks: pandan and lavender matcha. The lavender is a drink I usually make at home with a store bought syrup but their syrup was light and you can tell it's house made! I loved the flavor. Similar for the pandan, there's a lightness to it which I enjoyed as well. My husband wanted food from this place but they didn't have any available for the time being. It would have been helpful to post that somewhere. The seating is actually pretty nice with bar seats and chairs. I'd like to work here if I lived in the area. However, parking is quite challenging. We were lucky to snag a stall.
