A New Silver Spring Chef Feeds Nearby Residents Displaced by an Explosion | Eater DC

"Owned by Silver Spring restaurateur Jerry Hollinger, The Daily Dish kitchen stepped in to help handle meal prep after the explosion, supporting Mike Ellis as he got up at 3 a.m. to start making lunch; together they prepared the first 50 meals for displaced residents and will assist in producing anywhere from 50 to 500 meals a day on and off for the next three weeks." - Tierney Plumb

I took my mom here while she was visiting me. The food was *incredible* and our waitress was very helpful. It was little loud inside (it has "diner" vibes, even though it has pretty high-end food), and the tables are extremely close together. The food makes up for the loudness, if that kind of thing bothers you. Everything we got was delicious. I will definitely be going back!

Manager is really kind. We find some mistakes at the bill and he trying to solve it immediately. Food was good(I think poke and duck is very good, beef wellington is hard to cut)

Google
The lunch I had was beef tacos. The beef was very tough and fatty and had very little flavor to it. I had a side of coleslaw and the coleslaw was just shaved cabbage with very little seasoning on it in very poor preparation. The wait staff was abrupt and I did not feel as if it was welcoming environment

I went here and was welcomed with good energy and quick service. This bistro has a nice menu and offers a bar with many options. There is seating both indoors and outdoors. I chose to sit indoors as the live jazz band was setting up for Sunday afternoon. The pizza was perfect and freshly made. My only advice would be to stay clear of placing your back to the walkway area. Everything else was absolutely wonderful. 💯

Delicious! The pork belly appetizer was the perfect size for a small entree, and the burger got rave reviews. The dessert was a little small for the price, but probably for the best. Enjoy!

Google
The food was delicious (we had salmon and halibut). However, the portions were so small. Even after dessert we still had to eat more when we got back home. We were both normal size people and this is is the first time I am experiencing this at a restaurant. Usually I cannot finish my food.

Playing tonight at the Daily Dish. I was amazed. Watch the posts from Daily Dish or better still, please contact the Daily Dish and ask when The Dwayne Adell trio is playing next. You will not regret going to see this group play. The food was delicious, every item I enjoyed had unique flavors and was hot and made from fresh ingredients. The owner and staff were very personable and available. Dwayne Adell himself and the band were gracious, complementary to their audience and encouraged all of us to be present, aware and enjoy the beauty. What a night.

Google
The food here is amazing! We went today for brunch and all 3 of us of got the specials: soft shell crab benedict, short rib hash, and stuffed french toast with Nutella and strawberries. All three were delicious and unparalleled. However we do have issue with our servers. One of the dishes was incorrect and the server didn't take care of it and we had to get the manager involved. The manager handle the beautifully although she only gave us 15% off and not the dish for free.

Yelp
We wanted to try out a new (to us) local brunch spot and The Daily Dish met our preliminary checkboxes... mainly outdoor seating for dogs. ;) The restaurant is located in a small shopping center with a cute outdoor set up. We dropped by on an early Sunday (around 10/11 am), and fortunately there was no wait. However, it might be advisable to make a reservation because the outdoor area seemed to fill up a bit while we were dining. For brunch, The Daily Dish has a nice mix of egg, sweet and savory menu items. Since I was in a sweet mode, I decided to go with the Challah French Toast, which was served with strawberries and smoked bacon. Overall, I thought the French toast was very filling and delicious. Extra points awarded because the French toast was not too sweet. The brunch dishes' prices were pretty standard ($15-20ish) compared to other brunch spots in the area. Same goes for the adult cocktails. Overall, the environment was pretty chill, and I thought service was pretty good. Since the restaurant is located in a small shopping center, the restaurant has free and accessible parking Looking forward to keeping The Daily Dish on our brunch rolodex.

Yelp
Cute neighborhood spot. Selection of drinks and oven fired pizza. The happy hour was vast with a cute list of specialty drinks. We came to catch up but I wasn't impressed with the menu. Definitely, a lot of vegan or trendy dishes but nothing popped out. She settled on the Beet Salad with Salmon and I a chicken sandwich with home fries. She liked her salad but I wasn't impressed with my selection. It was indeed a hearty portion but did have much flavor. The spicy Aoil is what gave it elevation. The fries were very oily and didn't have any salt. I only ate the bottom half with toppings and 1 fry. The Witches Brew was strong but needed to be microwaved. I wouldn't come back but I hear it's a neighborhood watering hole. Maybe the weekend brunch or pizza offering is better.

Yelp
Brunch is my favorite meal of the day... but, at restaurants , it's often limited to Saturdays and Sundays, which makes it even more special. At brunch, you can have a cocktail before noon (reprehensible!) or have a little lobster with your eggs (lavish!). Hence I'm always looking for good brunch places, and I'm happy to say that I've found another one! The Daily Dish on Grubb Road in Silver Spring, Maryland often stays unnoticed for years and years by fans of the fabulous Parkway Deli, located in the same little strip mall. Until today, I was in that category... Parkway's gravitational pull is SO strong that the only way I got around it was to promise myself I could go in after brunch for a few takeaway items from the deli (the city's best whitefish salad or chocolate babka, anyone?). The Daily Dish has everything I could want from a brunch place: good cocktails, an interesting menu of both sweet and savory dishes, and delightful service. My Steak and Eggs plate featured the best over-easy eggs I've ever tasted outside of Spain (were these also shallow-fried in olive oil to give them such lacy, crispy edges?) and a tender, perfectly cooked mini steak with browned onion-studded home fries. Three simple foods, but all so well executed. The cocktail, a lemony lavender-scented Spring Forward, was from the regular (non-brunch) cocktail menu. Order it "up" in a martini glass for the best results... when served long with ice, it is too diluted to make its delicate statement. Reasons to go to The Daily Dish instead of its wonderful sister restaurant J.D. Hollinger's Waterman's Chop House in downtown Silver Spring? 1) It's easier to get a reservation, and 2) It's easier to get a parking place. Both restaurants have Jerry Hollinger's Pennsylvania Mennonite touch: absolute insistence on the freshest ingredients. But the fact that I don't have to worry about paid parking, and can still be true to my first love by stopping by Parkway Deli on my way out, makes The Daily Dish an exciting new love.

Yelp
I came to the Daily Dish for Restaurant Week, and sat at the bar. Ordered the caesar salad, pizza, and dessert. The food arrived quickly, and it was pretty standard. No complaints at all.

Yelp
Came here to catch up with coworkers over drinks and dinner and it was a nice time! Love that there is an open lot right in front of the establishment so you're not having to stress over garage or street parking. I got a glass of white wine and fish tacos - the tacos were okay but nothing to write home about. Very chill and relaxed environment, and our waiter was great.

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise on all levels. We were looking for a quick but delicious classy meal and that what's we got. I was late to meet my friend as Google maps took me all over the place on the bike trails. Yes I was riding my bike and I didn't know my way around. Not only was there a rail to lock my bike, covered outdoor patio to dine in but the service was prompt and pleasant. The scallions and salmon were devoured with not a morsel left on our plates. Food was tastefully prepared, delicious and prompt. What more could anyone want from a neighborhood restaurant. A real find in an everyday strip mall.

Yelp
Went here and loved the good vibes and quick service. Nice menu, full bar, and indoor/outdoor seating. I sat inside with the live jazz, perfect atmosphere. The pizza was fresh and delicious. Only tip: avoid sitting with your back to the walkway. Otherwise, amazing spot!

Yelp
I thought if I went at 3:00 on a Monday I'd have no problem finding a seat at the bar. I was wrong. Actually, there were two seats available at the very far end, but the one on the end had a lot of junk in front of it. That was ok because I was alone. It's the last week Of school so I wanted to celebrate with Daily Dish's 15th anniversary special happy hour. I started with a lemon drop martini which was perfect! I could drink a pitcher of these! The happy hour taco of the day special was fish tacos (2), my favorite! The chef uses three types of fish, but mine were mostly salmon. They had great seasonings and the cabbage was fresh. The sauce complimented the tacos well. I hope these will be on the regular menu, and maybe shrimp too! Service was attentive for how busy the bar was. No one was seated outside or at the "floating bar" as they call it. I'll have to gather my friends next time.

Yelp
A great Sunday brunch spot with friends! The waffles were delectable. I also had a virgin Bloody Mary that was good, but a bit watered down. Our wait staff were super attentive and constantly checking on us and removing empty plates and drinks. Big groups are hard to take care of (I know as I was a waitress for a good chunk of my early 20s), but they made it look easy! Great job Daily Dish Team!

Yelp
I have been here more than once and it's been bad! The Service is very bad and it takes too long! They also give you a nasty attitude! It took more than 30 minutes for a side dish! The porch and inside are too crowded and felt unpleasant! My mother made a reservation two days in advance and they lost it.When she asked they had no clue what she was talking about! So dam RUDE! I will never come here for all that plus the park-side deli is 10 times better than this place!

Yelp
This is an absolute hidden gem. Located in a neighborhood strip mall, but the quality of food and service were amazing.

Yelp
Pretty abysmal and less than underwhelming. All around substandard. Was invited to restaurant week lunch by friends. Didn't enjoy anything about the experience. Server spacey, not customer friendly and lacking follow through. He knew nothing about any of the food and when asked his response was repeatedly "it looks good." He left midway and someone else showed up to finish serving us. He seemed good. The country music was blaring so loud that I literally could not hear my dining companions sitting across the table from me. Caesar salad was lack luster and borderline wilted (see photo), pot pie bland, burnt on top, doughy, not served hot and lacked flavor. A Marie Callendar frozen pot pie would have been more satisfying unfortunately. My son said his pizza sauce was "runny" so he was forced to eat it with a fork and knife to avoid spilling the sauce on himself. He ordered the bread pudding which was dry, tiny and had no caramel as described. The key lime pie was acceptable. So disappointing. I couldn't wait for the experience to end. I will not be returning here. Ever. To add: I will be checking health code violations before going to restaurants moving forward. The last one here was on 1/8/2024.

Yelp
First, let me begin by saying I've been coming here off and on for quite some time and am always pleased w my meals. However, a friend invited me out and I suggested here and was pleased it was Winter Restaurant Week. I shared that we love this place and all of the food has been delicious regardless of the meal. We both had the radish salad, fresh, nothing special. My friend had the pizza which was excellent! I ordered the blackened MahiMahi and it was sub par, huge flavorless bun, the pieces of fish were barely there....and I only tasted the seasoning came w potato wedges that I was told were baked but they were over cooked and seemed fried. Didn't eat those. For the price, I really could have done better eating at home. The chocolate mousse dessert w berries was fantastic. I've never had a complaint about any entree I've gotten there but I wasn't as pleased w my lunch this last time. With prices increasing , I would be hard pressed to come back any time soon. I still enjoy this neighborhood place bc it's not fast food, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is laid back.

Yelp
We decided to try this restaurant for lunch on Saturday after seeing a long line at the Parkway Deli. The place has outside seating with a roof and a low-key vibe and offers various meals and alcohol. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated at a table right away. There were several groups already sitting and waiting for food before 11:30. On the menu, I didn't see many vegetarian/vegan options which I prefer if I can. The drinks were definitely overpriced. A single cup of orange juice for $4 and a lukewarm watery latte for $5.75. were disappointing. I've never seen a latte coming with a spoon already in a cup. Starbucks offers decent and cheaper coffee for sure. The meals were average. Waffles were super airy and crispy, but didn't give much flavor or satisfaction. Both bacon and waffles were literally cold as well. On the other hand, the omelet was fresh and better. The toppings were stuffed into a big omelet, and the eggs themselves were aggressively seasoned. Side potatoes were okay, but a little greasy. Overall, I would rather expect decent meals, drinks, and service for this price so I will look for another place next time...

Yelp
I've eaten here twice and have enjoyed this restaurant both times. It is unpretentious and has a nice atmosphere. The food is comforting and good. I had the lamb shanks, and they were great. It's also nice to be able to park easily. I'm sure I'll be back to try other things on the menu.

Dan W.

Yelp
The food was good, service was fine. One big problem: The live electric piano was so loud that it made conversation nearly impossible, even though we were outside. We moved to a table further from the music, but it was still too loud. Do electric pianos have volume buttons? If so, turn down the volume. A lot.

Yelp
Taking time with my daughter to explore our own area. We came across The Daily Dish. We had a delightful time on a hot day to share a glass of wine, fresh and crispy Peach Salad with creamy goat cheese, and a flavorful charcuterie board. The staff was friendly and attentitive, even during a very busy lunch rush. We can't wait to come back to our new discovery.

Yelp
Well, that was delicious. Honestly, I didn't know the Daily Dish existed until today - an out of town friend googled "brunch spots" and here we are. I think he made an awesome choice. I had the brown sugar latte while perusing the menu and waiting for my friend to show - really nicely done. Sweet but not overpoweringly so, enough coffee flavor for happiness, etc. My friend got the lobster Benedict and I did the make your own omelette. We both got the breakfast potatoes. So let me just tell you now - get the breakfast potatoes. They were dynamite! And my omelette was delicious - tons of bacon, super fresh mushrooms, and gouda packed this massive, massive omelette. Honestly, I should have stopped eating - it's two hours later and I'm still super full. I'm so excited to find a nice place to go out for breakfast or brunch.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
The food is outstanding. I had the best burger of my life followed by an amazing chocolate torte. My new favorite restaurant.

Patrick B.

Yelp
This joint has become our de facto family restaurant. Our young boys have their favorite dishes from the kids menu and my wife and I always find something good to eat (the menu rotates with seasons). Service is fine: depends who we get as a server (everyone is friendly, just some faster than others) but overall, this is a great family local place. I'm surprised it has such low star ratings as it's a heck a lot better than some higher-end and much more expensive places in Bethesda (in terms of ambiance). Last time we went was jazz night: and was a surprise treat for my mother. So all good and would recommend this to others.

Hiral D.

Yelp
I'm glad things are starting to open as people are started to get vaccinated. We came here at 10:00 am with brunch reservations. It was very busy! We sat outside in the beautiful patio. The food was good but my create your own omelette definitely needed some pepper and hot sauce to give it more flavor. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food so I'm giving four stars for their experience. I think they must have been very overwhelmed with all the patrons because they got a couple of orders wrong (vegetable frittata instead of bacon frittata), and I had to remind the waitress to add breakfast potatoes to my order. It also took a while to get her attention to ask for that hot sauce. It was very busy so one of my friends was okay with the bacon being sprinkled on top of the vegetable frittata. Overall, I would love to go back since it's nice to have a brunch spot in Silver Spring.

Yelp
Love the pint noir, the salmon with a side salad and their fries! The server was excellent

Yelp
Looking at the kitchen floor and the lack of gloves used in preparation. Simultaneously with the same gloves cleaning the floor . I expect the kitchen to be spotless !

Yelp
They had me at lobster and arugula and added avocado and white cheddar, wrapped it gently in Challah bread and grilled it to a crispy perfection. This lobster grilled cheese served up with a cup of roasted pumpkin soup couldn't have been more perfect on this dreary, rainy day. Three for three and daughter still raves about her French Toast from the Sister restaurant (The Dish & Dram). Update (7/20/20): I got an email and notification about a Jamaican Popup at "The Dish". Work schedule caused me to get there later than I wanted but it was worth the trip. I feel very comfortable dining at The Dish in their expanded outdoor seating area. They are conscientious about social distancing and doing business in a manner that protects their staff and their customers. The music was great and the food, though less spicy than I expected, was delish!! I was skeptical about the goat curry as I've only had unapologetically greasy goat curry. Not sure how he managed it but the chef's preparation of the curry resulted in a lighter presentation without sacrificing flavor. I ended my meal with soursop sorbet provided by Ruby Scoops. It was a perfect and refreshing ending to the meal and beginning to my week.

Yelp
Favorite go to local spot! You can tell everyone who works there has customer experience as top priority. Great food and better atmosphere. If you're looking for an intimate neighborhood bar where the staff know you by name this is the place to be!

Yelp
Visited today with a group and I will NOT go again. The food lacked flavor and the staff are rude and uninviting. We had a reservation for 10 and upon arrival they appeared annoyed and irritated with the size of the party. They crammed us into a small area with barely enough space on the table for all of us to dine comfortably with elbow room. I received a Bloody Mary that was water down and also flavorless. My server was agitated that I asked for it to be corrected. Later, when he was refilling water glasses he inadvertently poured water into my cocktail. I waiting for him to acknowledge or apologize and he did neither. A bit later we brought it to his attention and his response was "yes, a little water spilled in your drink". He said nothing else. He didn't offer to refresh the drink, remake the drink or remove it from the bill. NOTHING. When I later asked for it to be moved from the check, he snatched the drink off the table and stormed away. Later when our server came by the table I was quite surprised the when he saw that a couple of us had barely eaten 10% of our meal, he never asked if we needed anything or if the food was ok. He simply cleared the table with near full plates. Here comes the kicker. When we were done eating our server brought our check. We waited for him to come back to process the card to no avail. After more than 15 minutes passed some of our group that needed to leave began to disperse. By the 20 mark I was alone and awaiting assistance. Since no one came, I proceeded to ask a server that was not occupied if she could process my card for the tables payment. She said she would but I would have to wait. I informed her of my 20 minutes and counting wait and that I would have to leave soon. Her response was "if you leave I'm going to call the police" . Instead of her going to process my card, she proceeded to go and get a telephone and began calling the police. I have never experienced such a display of clear bias and bigotry that this restaurant displayed. Needless to say, I will never return

Yelp
So good! Although my family lives nearby and have patronized "the deli" and Red Maple (located in the same plaza) for YEARS, yesterday was our fist time visiting The Daily Dish. To be honest, it was the availability of outdoor seating that pulled us in, but the food and service will be bringing us back often! The fried oysters were plump, fresh, perfectly, seasoned, and perfectly cook! And the remoulade that accompanies them is addictive! The heirloom tomato salad (with mozz, basil, and balsamic glaze) was simple but the flavors were anything but! It was so incredibly fresh and delicious! The steak in the beef tenderloin salad was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked! The house Chardonnay is delicious and Suzy offers a nice pour (which sooo matters! LOL) And the service was top tier! Suzy and Tania really went above and beyond to ensure that our first visit was great--and it truly was! The only miss (and reason for the missing 5th star) was the entree. Unfortunately, it was a pretty big one. My mom and I both ordered the soft shell crabs. As true crab people (both hard and soft shell) we love a great crab! These weren't great by a long shot. We think they were picked too long after they'd molted. The parts that were supposed to be easy to chew were not quite so. There were parts that were weirdly chewy and crunchy in an unappetizing way --not yet shells, but close. Disappointing because the actual crab meat was super sweet. But the texture totally ruined it. The potatoes were undercooked-- although the outside looked golden brown, once we cut into them, it was apparent that they needed more time and the taste reflected that as well-- they were hard and we didn't eat them. And the big pile of not-so-flavorful slaw on the plate seemed more like a space filler than an offering made with taste in mind. The asparagus was good tho. lol So, yeah...that part was a bummer, especially at $35! But the rest was terrific! Suzy and Tania, thanks for a great time!

Yelp
Classic eggs benedict w/ breakfast potatoes and extra sauce and side sausage -- 25.60 Above average and gets the job done though i couldn't finish my homefries as they were over salted --same with the hollandaise which also had too much air and fucked up the consistency. Poached eggs were incredibly fire perfectly cooked and the english muffin was an english muffin. The meat on the benedict had the consistency of crispy leather --not necessarily a negative on a mostly soft dish. Hostess was super sweet and clearly working hard, as was the kitchen staff sweating it out for a full indoor and outdoor brunch seating (i would have dropped dead i only saw 5/6 cooks in that small little bar kitchen that extends into the dining room which seems like its own special version of hell i hope there's more kitchen and more chefs i couldn't see). I got my food to go so! who knows! maybe it's better as a seating. Also when it comes to homefries i'm looking for equally crispy and soft which i think they achieved but the red onion wasn't a comparable level of cooked which could be an artistic choice but i def got a few bites of straight up raw onion which understandably threw me. Side Sausage had good flavor but came chopped up? Overall I'd say it isn't worth 25 bucks, I'm sure it's only that much bc of inflation but ya never again sorry y'all

Yelp
Food was so bad I sent it back. . Sad to see previous owners gone. I used to like this place but no more

Yelp
Our favorite eating place near home, a pleasure in many ways. Low-key ambiance with neighborhood feel, medium prices. Food usually tasty: good salads, soups, pizza, crabcakes, burgers, plus classier entrees above $20. Watermelon gaspacho a great idea! Also includes a well-attended bar with quiet sportcasts and patrons. Gentle, unintrusive service. Site between Silver Spring and Bethesda, off East-West Hwy. Front wall of windows rolls away in summer. During Covid, Daily Dish has served meals in a series of tents (heated when needed) in the front parking lot of not-busy local shopping center, also the home of the beloved Parkway Deli.

Yelp
Arrived late evening on a weekend - and this place was still hopping with business and happy customers. It was a lovely late spring night, and we had our choice of seating - inside (where there is restaurant style seating or classic bar seating with large screen tv ), outside (under a canopy shelter to protect from sun or rain), or even a mix of both as the store front can literally open to the sidewalk during food weather (wow!). We toasted to this lovely ambience with a nice Cabernet. And then enjoyed the house salad with a light sherry vinaigrette (a generous pile of greens with a light dressing), the petit steak salad (well seasoned), and the mushroom cap filled with roasted veggies (warm variety of veggies with crispy goat cheese). Everything was absolutely delicious, and well-portioned. Already looking forward to the next visit, and trying more items on the extensive menu - with everything from apps and salads to entrees of meats and seafoods to pizzas and sandwiches... and yes, beer and wine and spirits - many of them locally sourced. Highly recommend folks giving The Daily Dish a try!

Yelp
I have nothing positive to say about my meal here. The staff barely knows what they are serving, and the food was average at best - except the fish, which was so salty I could barely eat it. When I left the fish on my plate, the server didn't seem to care even though I said it was "too salty to finish" when he asked if we "enjoyed" our meal. We tried the bread pudding and it was so dry (isn't there supposed to be some kind of caramel) and the key lime pie seemed old. The filling was coming away from the crust. We were seated near where the staff congregates, but no one seemed to look over or care that we barely ate our food. And if you're going to make "classic cocktails" have a bartender/server who at least knows what bourbons they serve.

Yelp
I was excited to give this place a try but today was a bust. I sat and waited while waitstaff ignored me for 20 minutes. I left and walked on down to Parkway deli. I may give them another try because maybe they were understaffed but it was a waste of time today.

Yelp
Surprised by some of the negative reviews. Have never had a bad meal or substandard service here, and Mother's Day brunch was no exception! Much better variety than sister location Dish & Dram (also great, but menu a little limited). All of us loved our selections. Chesapeake Eggs Benedict was divine. Server was super attentive. It had been awhile since we'd been there, and we are definitely going to put it back into regular rotation!

Yelp
Great Neighborhood Spot, family friendly with amazingly nice people that work there. Menu changes frequently with very good specials. Highly recommend

Yelp
Not too crowded for a Sunday afternoon so my mom and I were seated quickly. I ordered the Create Your Own Omelette with caramelized onions, spinach and Gouda cheese. 3 Stars because the lack of cheese and the fact I found someone's hair inside of it. I ordered a BLET which was good (4 stars) I'm going to order it with more remoulade sauce next time. My mom ordered the two eggs with bacon and home fries. She left nothing on her plate so I'm guessing she loved it! (5 stars) I will definitely come back to try something else!

Yelp
We always have a great time at DD. Steven our waiter was awesome and we were even able to sit outside with our dog Maddie. Fried oysters were so good any crispy with the tasty sauce and the short ribs were on point.

Yelp
I used to come here often for their brunches to scarf down on their wonderful challah french toast or various omelettes chased with their excellent bloody mary bar. However, this place has been a gift of the gods during the pandemic times. They have opened up the parking area, increasing their patio area while also having the interior of their restaurant aired out by rolling up their huge windows. They have a fine menu of rotating items while maintaining classic items, such as the burger, and their hearth oven pizzas are always a solid choice. To top it all off, they always keep a solid wine selection and keep good local beer in their taps.

Yelp
To be fair, their pizza is very good. On the other hand, I got one of the angus beef burgers today & it was basically raw on the inside. The nice lady on the phone asked how I wanted my patty to be cooked to which I replied medium well. All the toppings were there & it looked good from the outside so I trusted the cooks. I was watching a show while eating, unaware of the raw meat. By the time I looked down, I realized the inside of the patty was red & pink. Long story short, I started vomiting about 1.5 hours later & haven't been able to stop since. (Give or take 3 hours) I am not one to leave negative reviews, but this could kill someone. All the staff are very nice & friendly, but whoever cooked this burger needs help.

Yelp
This review is for Sunday brunch. Wait staff are perfectly fine. But here are the negatives from today: Accordion playing guy is TOO EFFING LOUD. Shrimp and Grits runny and too liquidity (and why are mushrooms there?). Mainly came here to say: WIPE AND WASH AND DRY YOUR TABLES BETWEEN CUSTOMERS. Ours was wet, sticky, grimy, gross. Had to go get paper towels from bathroom to clean it ourselves and it was STILL sticky.

Yelp
I am writing from the midst of COVID-19 shutdown and stay at home orders. I was craving a good meal, and the Daily Dish was recommended by a neighbor (and I heard they did cocktail deliveries too!). My partner and I decided to give it a shot. We scheduled our order for delivery a few hours out, which was super helpful for us, and I imagine to the restaurant as well as most places are not used to operating in this take out/delivery mode. The food was delicious, fresh, and just what I was craving. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My man-of-few words partner had the shrimp fettuccine and also said it was delicious. I did order a Basil Moscow Mule, and it was damn good! I highly recommend this place. New go-to spot!

Yelp
Two years ago a friend brought me here and I just recently went back over the weekend. I'm all about self-compassion but I'm stupid to 1) have not reviewed this place and 2) not come here every week. The Daily Dish is fine-dining-quality in a local neighborhood. Situated in a strip mall, with outdoor and indoor (well-ventilated) seating during the COVID-19 pandemic, the place fills up at dinner time with locals. And I'm not surprised! The first time I came, I ordered what I thought would be a simple salad. Nope! It had duck and was the best salad I've ever eaten. This time around, I was seeking comfort in the osso bucco (veal) over mashed potatoes and carrots ($29). I couldn't put the fork down. Literally. My friend ordered the flounder in a light broth with broccolini. The dishes were picturesque! I had to end with the tres leches dessert ($8) which was on the menu. My favorite dessert in the area. The slice was HUGE, but I ate it all. It was delicious. The service is kind, attentive, and reliable. The menu rotates weekly which is why I'm kicking myself for waiting so long I'm between visits... then again, the price isn't cheap. But wow. If you live in the area, stop in. You will find something to love and leave happy, even grateful you did.

Yelp
I've been frequenting an adjacent restaurant for my breakfast needs for years now and don't know why I haven't stopped before? I love the outdoor seating and the garage door concept and their "farm to fork" business model. Although I wanted to try the poached egg portobello (2 eggs over portobello mushrooms, crispy pancetta, breakfast potatoes in port wine sauce), I decided order on the safe side this first time around and tried the florentine eggs benedict. My dish did not disappoint and was a well made benedict. I also liked that their breakfast menu had innovative breakfast items that you wouldn't find at any other restaurants and will be returning to try more items. As for their service, I thought that the server was attentive, more so than most other restaurants.

Yelp
I adore the daily dish for brunch and lunch and need to go for dinner. The food is always delicious, the ambiance is always relaxed, the service always good. One of my absolute faves.

Yelp
We had high hopes given the recommendation someone gave us. The pizza and wine (a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand) were excellent. Sadly, we were mostly disappointed. Firstly, we saw a mouse crawling up the wall, to which the managers responded "oh that little guy keeps coming back." Secondly, I ordered a medium hamburger, and instead got a medium well hamburger with a bun that was as crunchy as a saltine cracker. Lastly, though we were not expecting a freebie or discount, when we thought about it (after paying full price and tipping well- because service fine) - I realized we are just used to good service recovery (maybe comp one drink..?).

Yelp
Today we went to The Daily Dish for lunch. Usually, we are very loyal to our Parkway Deli but today they were swamped so we decided to give this place a try! The food was very tasty! We all got burgers and mixed and matched some different toppings. I was a big fan of thief potato wedges!

Yelp
Delicious food, pleasant outdoor seating, plenty of parking, but spotty service. I'll be back.
