Strolled in at 9 am on Saturday. I justified my visit to get donuts just for myself, because I just gave blood - and needed sugar to prevent myself from passing out (at least this is what I'm telling myself, and my nutritionist).
I had heard rumors of a filled Crueller, which I felt I just needed to try. It's covered in chocolate, and filled with custard (I would prefer kreme filling instead). This donut was just OK, I definitely think it would be better with a kreme filling. But my eyes locked on the Samoa donut, covered with coconut, chocolate (and maybe caramel) - and I just had to try this one too. The Samoa was by far the better of the 2 donuts, and the donut I would get again - not the filled Crueller - unless they filled one w/ Kreme....hint,hint.
There were some other odd ball flavors I haven't seen like a jelly stick, lemon stick, strawberry moonrock, and a dipper donut w/ a handle so you can dip it into your milk or coffee - nice.
$1.25/donut is more expensive than I've seen, as is $12/dozen - and I don't even think that's a bakers dozen. Oh well, not bad if you only get donuts every 6 months or so for your work peeps.
I overheard the server giving a donut hole to a mother who had a child in her arms, waiting to be served, saying "here, for the child. Children and dogs get free samples". I said I would have to bring my Flash up here, and the owner gave me one to take home to him. He enjoyed his as well.
Well, now that my blood sugar is up, and the risk of fainting has passed, due to my 2 donuts, I will be sure to make it back there every now and then. Gotta try that strawberry moonrock!
