I stopped in for a late dinner after flying all day and what a great experience!! The young gal that was tending bar was so nice and knowledgeable. She had great recommendations and was just a sweet soul. I had the Rabbit Ragu on her recommendation and Oh Mer Gerd!!!! So Yummo!! You have to give this place a try if you’re in the area.

Was really looking forward to our visit here, but can only give the food 4 stars. It may have been an off day but the soup had an odd texture and very little flavor. The sauce and the peanut butter on the hoagie were very heavy. Fries very l were very good, as was the protein quinoa bowl. Drinks were great with some great mocktails, too, no issues there. The ambience was very nice and the servers were lovely. Would try again on another visit.

Anna is hands down the best server at the bar! From the moment we walked in, she made us feel welcome with her warm smile and great energy. She’s not just fast and efficient—she genuinely cares about her customers, making sure every drink is perfect and every order comes out just right. Even when the place was packed, she never missed a beat, checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Her positivity is contagious, and you can tell she loves what she does. If you’re lucky enough to have Anna as your server, you’re in for an amazing night. Five stars aren’t enough—she deserves ten! Can’t wait to come back and be in her section again!

Incredible ambiance and a diverse menu with a wide variety of excellent vegan and gluten-free options. The cocktails are creative and delicious, and the mocktails blew me away, plus a wide selection of local beers on tap. The staff (our server was Rylee) were efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. I had the steak sandwich and it was *so good.*

Ethan tied this whole joint together… I mean really… I can’t believe the service I received tonight. The drinks were great but Ethan sent The Daily Planet Burlington Vermont over the moon. With great drink recommendations and a dazzling charm I think I might just call it now. The greatest service I will ever receive and the best restaurant I will ever go to.

Very glad to have found this place! Came here for dinner with the fiancé, and right away we enjoyed the cozy and charming atmosphere. I got the Left on Mars, which is made with a jalapeño infused tequila that packs a nice punch without being overwhelming. For dinner, we shared the Nikki's nachos, spicy green beans, and seared cauliflower. All of it was tasty and full of flavor! The cauliflower in particular was a standout, as it had a nice char and the hummus paired with it perfectly. Would definitely come back here!

I recently dined at the Daily Planet and I have to say, Eve provided some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. From the moment we were seated, she was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making our dining experience memorable. Eve was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and made sure our drinks were always topped up without us even having to ask. She struck the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering. What truly stood out was her warm personality and professionalism. She went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect, and it made the evening so enjoyable. If you’re dining here, I hope you’re lucky enough to have Eve as your server. She’s a true gem! Highly recommend this place, thanks to her exceptional service.

Tuesdays have half price cocktails! The food is really good quality and the drinks are even better. Our server Brigitte was so sweet! My friends and I have turned this into a weekly stop.

Yelp
Burlington has good enough vegan friendly/vegan places. But my top pick is this place. I came here to dine out as most other places that interested me with veg options were casual/take out places unlike this full dine in restaurant. Their menu has plenty of vegan options. I tried vegan loaded nachos, falafel sandwich and bean fritters. My family tried some omni options. They were pleased with their food. I absolutely loved the vegan options i tried here.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This is my 3rd or 4th time dining here. To start, we got the Nikki's nachos. Split between 3 people, they go quick. They were delicious, and it came out fast. My favorite drink there is the Pom Paradise. I got the planet burger with the Parmesan truffle fries. It was very good. My only complaints are that even though there wasn't many people, our entrees took a long time. When we finally got our food, the empty appetizer plate was not taken away. The table was small, so it was very crowded with our new plates of food. Our server wasn't really engaged, and we had to wait a long time to get the check.

Dorothy H.

Yelp
Excellent evening out- had an early dinner before a show at the Flynn and didn't need reservations (it filled up as we were leaving) Amazing cocktails, the roasted veggie plate was perfect. Great service - nice evening. We will be back.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came here during our weekend get away in Burlington VT. We enjoyed our time at the daily planet! The service was great and very friendly we were able to get right in with no wait and had a nice seat by a big garage door near the bar! The atmosphere was very fun, and the food was good. We both ordered drinks that we really enjoyed, and we both ordered the steak frites. The only down side was that the steak was a little chewy with a bit more fat than I usually like. But overall it was a great experience and we would definitely come back!

Yelp
I checked out The Daily Planet while in Burlington on a business trip after reading online reviews and asking a few locals. Located downtown, there is street parking and parking in a nearby garage. It was pretty busy for a weeknight but I easily got a table for one. I can see why people like the hipster vibe that The Daily Planet exudes, especially in eclectic Burlington, Vermont. Although, the lighting was so dim in the restaurant that I could barely read the menu. I actually had to hold the menu up to the candle at my table to illuminate it so I could choose a drink. I ordered the seasonal pumpkin spice white Russian, Vermont venison meatballs, and shrimp with creamy polenta. The pumpkin spice was an interesting take on the classic white Russian, while the polenta had a balsamic glaze over the shrimp and fresh green beans. Now I grew up in Vermont eating venison and I felt that the sweet and sour sauce over the meatballs detracted from the natural flavor of the venison. The meatballs ended up tasting like just regular ground beef but for a much higher price. The Daily Planet has drink specials throughout the week so it makes sense it remains a popular place for people of all ages. I felt, overall, that it was average for a city like Burlington that offers such a range of flavors and experiences.

Yelp
Ambiance: 5 stars because the vibes were so cozy and cute! It felt like a modern, eccentric and quirky restaurant and I'm super glad we chose to eat here. The pics we took were amazing. Food: 4 stars, I enjoyed my hoagie thoroughly but wished the peanut butter was more of a sauce and not just thrown onto the bread. My friend thought her noodles were bland, and the falafel burger was good but nothing special. The truffle fries were DELICIOUS and the sauce they gave was super yummy. We also loved all of our drinks, they were perfectly balanced and exactly what we wanted. Highly recommend the pickle drink! Service: 5 stars because our waiter was great! She was super attentive and gave us great recommendations for our stay, and we felt very welcomed. The other servers were also very on top of it, and gave us extra servings of sauce without even asking!

Yelp
Came to this hip bar and restaurant in Burlington for drinks and food one evening. It actually seems more like a quiet place than a place to get crazy and party. The Daily Planet also has better than typical bar stuff. Prices are high on some things, especially entrees and the bigger items. You can get a few small things for cheap though. Busy but not too loud when we got inside. It's like it has a subtle classiness it seems. There were seats at the bar so we got some there. It's about $12 for regular price for cocktails. Ordered a few with it being happy hour. Best of these was the Time Bomb. This is Earl Grey with lemon, thyme, and vodka. As for the food we kept it cheap. It's $9 for the Spicy Tomato Dill Soup. This is vegan. It was creamier than expected. This was really good stuff. Go here for drinks and some food. It's only just a small menu but there's big flavor to it though. There's a few things okay for vegans and vegetarians.

Yelp
Good music but Small menu. For our last night in Burlington we came into The Daily Planet. We made reservations to ensure we would be able to get in within a reasonable amount of time. Like most of the Burlington restaurants it's small inside. Service was a little bit slow but it was rather crowded so that was forgivable. I had a cocktail before the meal came out. I forgot the name of it but is was essentially their take on a old fashioned but it was a little too much citrus for me. For my main course I had the steak frites. I ordered them medium well and they came With truffle fries.steak was very tender with a great flavor, not too much seasoning so you could taste the quality of the steak. The fries were just so so. Overall a slow meal and decent service. The price was 30-40 dollars per person so very affordable.

Yelp
This is a great dinner spot in Burlington! I've always loved coming here for their fantastic vegetarian and gluten free options.

Yelp
Place was cute good assortment but get their early. We got there towards the end of the night and they were out of a few things. We loved the Mac n, cheese. Decor was cute and service was good. A little pricy but not crazy.

Yelp
Nice quiet respite near the wild late evenings in Burlington. Found this after a late flight, not much is open past 11. Sam was the waiter for what appeared to be the entire restaurant and he was awesome. Didn't even bat an eye when a group walked in 10 minutes to close. The dog days vegan hot dogs were truly amazing, such good flavor and texture combinations. My basil watermelon cocktail was perfect, not too sweet and big on basil, just the right ratio of alcohol to watermelon juice. My husband's bodega sandwich was definitely a heavier choice but tasty. Good find. Very chill atmosphere.

Kenneth B.

Yelp
Went here for dinner the first time. Our server Eve was excellent! Checked on us appropriately and really helped us feel valued as a customer. The food was great, we had the butter burger and I had the venison meatballs. The Girls had cauliflower and the green beans. We all walked away very satisfied with our choices. Parked in the public parking garage which is close by.

Kate L.

Yelp
Excellent vegan options clearly labeled. Just wish they didn't add so many non vegan things to their vegetable options like asparagus and zucchini dishes. Service was attentive but they do try to take your plate away quickly before you're not quite finished eating with 1-2 bites left so it felt like we were being rushed a bit. Happened with our appetizer and entree. More vegan dessert options would be nice but the one cheese cake is good.

Gloria M.

Yelp
It was very nice inside and full of plants. There was a lot of people inside and the server was fairly present. The tofu sandwich was good however the steak with the steak frites was very subpar. Not sure it's how they cooked it I think the cut itself was just bad. Very chewy and stiff, not worth the price. May come back for something else

K A.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, and appreciate their vegan options! I've been coming here for 20+ years and love that the newer owners added more vegan options but left everything that makes the planet special- great beer, relaxed and welcoming environment, something for everyone on the menu, weekday specials, and genuinely nice and competent staff.

Sarah T.

Yelp
We ordered the venison and the maple glazed salmon. Both were excellent and large portions with generous and well-made sides of polenta with the fish and blue cheese mashed potatoes with the venison, and broccolini or asparagus alongside. Though the prices are high we felt we got a lot of food and taste for the money, so fair. Abou 5 days later we ordered the exact same thing to take away. What a disappointment. The amounts were smaller and we got a long hair with our venison I emailed the restaurant about our disappointment with the takeout experience. The manager compensated us for the disappointing takeout experience and said there were new employees in the kitchen and that standards would be discussed. We returned again for a dine-in experience. Waitstaff had a hard time seating us in an appropriate location for the service dog and a physically challenged diner (we told them in advance we'd have a service animal). The tables which had worked for us before were reserved for others--though those tables remained empty for the 1.5 hrs we were dining. With a bit of pushing we got a suitable table though we felt we had to work pretty hard for it. The food was good again. And the 4 stars reflects that though several things about this place can be hit or miss, it still is our favorite for flavors and gluten free options and would definitely dine here again.

Michael L.

Yelp
The Daily Planet was a great experience. We had 2 delicious local ciders, with a Mac and cheese appetizer. It was incredible, one of the best homemade Mac and cheese dishes I've had in a very long time. Dinner was the Salmon and Steak dishes respectively. They were delicious, cooked to perfection. We tried polenta for the first time as well with the Salmon dish and I enjoyed it! Then we had the milk chocolate creme brulee and poached pear and we were disappointed. They were fine, but they weren't the home runs everything else was for the night. That happens sometimes though, nothing appeared wrong with the desserts themselves, might just be our taste preferences. Service was wonderful and food was well spaced and paced! Enjoy!

Charles S.

Yelp
Always solid. I feel like they could use a little bit more pizazz in the food but it's never bad. Service is hit or miss at a table always solid at the bar, great cocktails and deals.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Had an amazing 21st bday dinner here! Lana was our server and was so sweet and attentive! loved the atmosphere and the staff were phenomenal!

Jay B.

Yelp
We had a great meal, beer, and mocktails. Glad we wandered a short way from Church St. a great protein bowl and burgers. Fun artwork throughout. Friendly service.

David K.

Yelp
Every time I've been here the food has been fine, even quite good depending on what you order. The service has been good too. Usually when the service and food is good, you'd think this would be the start of a high review. But in my opinion, the owners of this restaurant really need to invest in the building and the ambiance. Keep in mind that there are three different dining rooms and the feel is very different depending on which one you end up in. Just a few of the things I noticed on my last visit to the skylight and plant infused dining room: - Water dripping from the ceiling/ventilation system in several places; some landed on my head while we were waiting for a table - Old furniture that needed to be replaced when I first came here eight years ago and still looks just as drab and is borderline uncomfortable - Our table had a big tilt going back and forth; my companion's water spilled from it bouncing back and forth - This dining room feels a bit claustrophobic the way that the current furniture is arranged. The floor is kind of dirty. In the front entrance: - A hanging plugged-in wet extension cord outside that my young son dumbly put his hand in the outlet of probably almost getting electrocuted--not sure why a one-end with nothing plugged in extension cord was left hanging at waist level in the rain. - The front door has two awkward concrete steps that you'd think they would put a ramp in place of to make themselves more accessible after who knows how long in-business. Overall, the physical location just feels like it needs some serious investment and better attention to detail. It feels drab the way it is--almost like a dive bar rather than a restaurant. I don't remember this in my prior visits (maybe it was the size of our group, but probably not since we were 3 adults and 2 children) but they also now have a policy of an automatic 20% gratuity. Like most people, I usually tip that or higher anyway--but I dislike restaurants that do this because the whole point of a tip is being able to choose it myself incase the service doesn't warrant it as high as it is. Otherwise just include gratuity in the prices themselves, pay your workers out of your own pocket, and have a no tip policy, if you're not giving me a choice to go both lower and higher. Overall, I likely won't be back. The food is fine, the service is good, but unless you're drinking or looking for something particularly casual there are nicer places to go to dinner in Burlington that are in the same price range.

J G.

Yelp
I had vegan nachos and a blueberry lavender lemonade. The service was quick, and the waitress was pleasant. The nachos were soggy, piled with what looked and tasted like over-cumined chili beans and some sort of glop that was supposed to be cashew cheese. There was nothing cheesy about it. I make better cheeze at home. Was topped with jalapeños. That's it. Nothing nacho-y about it. The drink was fine, but for $7, I guess I would expect more. Save yourself $30 for one person (they charge a fee for card use, as well) and head over to Pingala which was also recommended, but I didn't try.

Yelp
Food was so good. We got the steak sandwich and mac & cheese. Super delicious! Our server Lana recommended a great bottle of wine.

James O.

Yelp
Emma was great!!! so helpful, and she even made sure the kitchen put the chorizo on the side of our nachos!!!! we will 1000% be back just to be served by emma!! thank you daily planet and thank you emma for a beautiful evening.

Claire M.

Yelp
Super awesome experience! We loved the half priced cocktails and great service from Ethan! We will be returning soon for the awesome vibes and conversation! Thanks Daily Planet : P

Teresa M.

Yelp
I ordered an apple squash soup. It took forever to come and then it was literally 5 tablespoons for $9. So many better options in BURLINGTON like the Skinny Pancake or Henry's Diner

Sam K.

Yelp
This was the first restaurant we went to when we visited Vermont, and it definitely did not disappoint. It was hard to find a place for dinner because it was a Friday night and most places had a 2 hour wait. We put our name down here, thinking it would be a long wait, but they ended up texting us to come back within 10 minutes. I was still working and had to bring my computer, but their wifi worked great! We got the bok choy to split, and then I got the mac & cheese as my entree. It was so good, and I even had some left over that I brought back and ate the next day. I was also really excited to see that they had a pickle martini on their drink menu. I'm a hugeee fan of pickles, so this was one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was a little on the strong side, but it tasted amazing. Overall, it was a really nice restaurant and the service was great.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Great find! So much vegan food on the menu! Handsome bartenders. Great food and great cocktails. 5 stars

Bruce B.

Yelp
Visiting my cousin in upstate VT we took a chance on the Daily Planet. Ordered my usual drink of choice a Belgian tea pale ale.Thoroughly enjoyed the vegan tortilla chips and salsa app. Our mains were the beyond Ragu. Which was beyond sausage, cashew cream and some other stuff. It's tasty get it. Desert was vegan mint chocolate cheesecake. Definitely recommend this place. Just a few minor items to note. $10 food tax I know I'm in a college town. Also we were charged a $7 credit card processing fee.

Sherrilynne B.

Yelp
It pains me to say this, but our experience tonight was horrible. We waited easily 45 minutes for our appetizers and had to ask for cocktails. I finally asked about our entrees after at least anther 30 minutes, before we decided we have waited too long. Despite the fact that we have had many amazing meals here, we will not be returning.

Emily S.

Yelp
Food and drinks were amazing! Our server Maddie was incredibly attentive, friendly, and personable. We love coming to the daily planet, especially for half price cocktails on Tuesdays! The filthy pickle is my fav :)

Lily T.

Yelp
Food was not good. The ambience and setting is nice, but the complete lack of customers during Saturday was surprising. Waiters were nice, unfortunately food was very underwhelming despite the expensive prices.

Beth A.

Yelp
I was here for celebration with a table for 8, It was very busy . I must admit I am not a fan of small plate big plate style restaurants , having to plow through a huge plate of one type of food, (I had the mac & cheese) ,The mac and cheese wasn't cheesy enough and only a few bread crumbs on top, I did share in some of the appetizers ,nachos which were soso. ,The steak looked good, and the ones who had it enjoyed it. I would have liked more fish options. We waited an hour for our desserts, the blueberry bread pudding which I had ,was a good size portion, and tasty but it was icebox cold where i was expecting it to be warm, and my friend had the chocolate brulee was liquid like a chocolate milk! The bathroom which has 2 stalls are very cramped with half doors, I use canes and it wasn't ADA compliant, need to make a single style room with hand rails. I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to get off the commode!

Madeline H.

Yelp
Food was delicious (especially the Mac and cheese). Lana was an amazing server and made both of my friends birthdays so special!

Esther G.

Yelp
Cool ambiance, great service! Lana was awesome! The food was a little less than perfect, but still very good.

Julia B.

Yelp
Delicious parmesan truffle fries and wonderful service by Lana!! Cool spot, never knew it was here. I love the decor!

Kimberly A.

Yelp
Food, drinks and service are all amazing! We had such a great time. Highly recommend the vegan nachos! Our server Madeline was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to our needs.

Sophie V.

Yelp
Delicious! Loved the place and the service! Loved our server Amanda, she was super sweet and made the dinner 5 stars!

Carla L.

Yelp
So thankful the Cajun restaurant next door turned us away! I had the shaved steak sandwich with blue cheese, pickled onions, arugula, garlic aioli, and the fries. I also had the Siracha ranch to dip fries in. It was delicious. Everything was fresh, hot, and fast! The server was super friendly and very attentive. If I lived here I would definitely be a regular.

Keith M.

Yelp
Sam as a host and Maddie as our server were a great combo. Such good service, great food, and amazing drinks. Would recommend 10/10!

Alexia A.

Yelp
Amazing food as always and the cocktails are always so good! Lana was so good and attentive, our drinks were never empty! Such a cute restaurant with great ambiance and excellent vibes!

Olivia P.

Yelp
Lana is the best. She's great.8 love her. she knew exactly what we wanted and she was welcoming and kind and great! The ambuance was fantastic. The birthday boy had candle shot!

Maia M.

Yelp
Had a nice meal here. Ordered the planet killer and the steak frites. Both were delicious. Our bartender Stella was very helpful, and I appreciated the plants everywhere.

Annika M.

Yelp
Great cocktails and amazing ambience! Our server Stella was super sweet and really made our night, terrific service!

Tori N.

Yelp
After a long day of driving we decided to come here for dinner. The hostess was kind enough to offer us a private little nook to dine, but informed us it was very cold in that area so we opted for somewhere else, we were also cold where we were seated as we were right by the front bays. The drinks and food were warm and yummy though! We were bummed that they had no gluten free desserts to go but the food we enjoyed while there was good!

Jim U.

Yelp
They have a limited menu mid afternoon but a solid beer list. Friendly service at the bar and a surprisingly great twist on gazpacho soup!

Kimberly G.

Yelp
The rabbit tacos and the roasted broccoli were so delicious. This was the best meal I had while I visited Burlington. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food came quickly and they didn't rush us out of the restaurant. The ambiance was really nice and I can't wait to come back.

Bella P.

Yelp
waitresses were great and so sweet! but we've eaten here twice and idk if there is a kid working the kitchen or something but it's consistently the worst food i've had at least in burlington. worst plain hot dog i've ever had. dry undercooked mac n cheese that looks nothing like the one on insta. the chopped cheese is an insult to the entire state on new york. so bland and stale all around. you really have to try to make food this bad.
