11 New Restaurants and Bars to Check Out in Ann Arbor

"Head over to downtown Ypsilanti for Deep End Café, a place that’s equal parts coffee shop and gallery space featuring works from local artists, poets, and writers. In addition to art, the spot features food and drink options courtesy of Detroit-based The Squeeze Station, which specializes in smoothies, fresh pressed juices, breakfast items, sandwiches, and salads." - John Reyes

Taking some time off work to recover from surgery, I was having a hard time desiring to eat anything. I didn't want any of my regular places, so I searched up Cafes on Cross St Ypsilanti and up came The Deep End Cafe & Gallery. It's a quiet location on the outside and homey on the inside but the food and beverages have blown my taste buds away! I ordered the Banana Butter Crunch that includes bananas, peanut butter and cinnamon on a grilled tortilla and I am so sad to be on my last bite. I'll have to stop by again :) I also tried the Chai Heart Smoothie which was the perfect pairing. I hope to feel better on my next stop in because they have beautiful art pieces and items on sale from what I believe to be local artists.

Really cute and stylish little cafe! I ordered a breakfast wrap, mocha, and cake pop. The breakfast wrap was delicious, hot, and fresh, and it came with a fantastic chipotle style sauce and a side of fruit. The mocha was smooth, creamy, and delicious. The cake pop was a nice top off to the meal. Wait time was a little long but the owner was working by herself and frankly was doing a great job at it. I loved the choice of music that was playing and I love to see local art featured on the walls. This is a good place for people looking for a fresh and healthier breakfast/lunch option with refreshing, clean aesthetics and excellent music. I'd love to try the fresh juices and smoothies next time. I look forward to coming back!

First and foremost: SUPPORT LOCAL Now to the review. Visiting from out of town and needed a place to conduct business soon after landing. Decided to give a local business a try and I was not disappointed. Greeted with a smile and great music playing softly in the background, I ordered the protein waffles to help my dad bod and a latte. While waiting I noticed art and other items made by local artist and vendors. So this a clear sign of local supporting local. I received my waffles and they were super fluffy with the crunch on the edges, and were pretty big. And if you like waffles like I do, that slight crunch along the edges is everything. Now I opted out of the powdered sugar (see previous dad bod comment), but do you. It also came with fresh fruit on the side. The latte was smooth and not bitter as I’ve had in other places and there is a wide variety of flavors and milk to choose from. While there, my work kept pestering me but the owner allowed me to stay almost 3 hours doing work. Before I left, I took a healthy smoothie to go, and it was refreshing and something I needed. Overall I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes great food, great service, and great people. Also the prices were well below Starbucks or other places who have less quality. So winning all around.

Google
Delicious!!! I come to Ypsilanti frequently from metro detroit for community acupuncture, and luckily stumbled upon this amazing spot. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. I tried the Heals So Good smoothie and after a week of being sick with the flu, can say this is absolutely everything my body was asking for!! Will definitely be back! Thanks for being here in this community, and offering all that you do in the way that you do!

Google
10/10 experience. I love the deep end cafe. The food is delicious but also healthy, the coffee is amazing, they have after hour events and delicious little cocktails, and the owner is so sweet and amazing, I highly recommend coming here

Google
not putting your prices on your menu isn't "quirky" it's deceptive and takes advantage of people Also coffee was horribly burnt and bad quality. Not worth the price if you can figure out what that is

Google
I absolutely love The Deep End Cafe! It is such a positive vibe going in there! The employees are very friendly and great with suggestions. I appreciate the brands of coffee they have very much! Some of the best in the nation that you can’t just get at any typical cafe. It’s ultimately one of my favorite cafes I’ve ever been to. Ask them about their coffee! It’s truly amazing!! Not to mention they have a featured artist every month who show cases their art ! It’s a very beautiful experience!

Google
Had Such a great experience my first time going. The energy and service provided was phenomenal I wasn’t sure what to order so she made samples to decide not caring that dirtying a dish was a concern just making sure my needs were met correctly to satisfy my expectations and made it harder to decide everything tasted so great and the food was so delicious I was sad I got full I wanted to try the whole menu.. music and lounge areas made it feel like home I spent 2 hours to get my work done and didn’t wanna leave.. I definitely will be back with friends for a time I can enjoy it longer

Yelp
Went in for coffee, but ended up getting a smoothie instead. The smoothie was delicious and very refreshing. Prices are super reasonable (around $6-$7, where as many juice/smoothie places charge much more). The staff member that I interacted with was very nice and knowledgeable. Hope TDE sticks around! Very cute!

Yelp
The vibes are good! Chill, small, and the Green Juice is delicious! Prices were really reasonable, and the service was friendly. Definitely would recommend.
