"Vancouver's Gem of a Bar A clandestine spot to imbibe in Gastown, the Diamond is the speakeasy when you're in Vancouver . Bar none, one of the best bars I have been to on recommendation from Nathan at Judas Goat. They will make you anything here, like a tasty pisco sour. Plus, they give you these really cute glasses with flowers on them. We didn’t try the menu, but if it’s anything like the drinks, I’ll be returning for a meal."

"Since it opened in 2009, The Diamond has been one of Gastown’s go-to cocktail lounges. The second-floor bar and restaurant is small, dark, and full of character. Most drinks are in-house creations, although in keeping with the turn-of-last-century vibe, a few cocktails are ripped directly from the history books; take the Chrysanthemum and the Royal Smile, circa 1916 and 1948, respectively. The list is divided into categories: “Boozy,” “Delicate,” “Refreshing,” and “Overlooked.”" - Guy Saddy

Great craft drinks in a unique space. Good vibe/ambience, especially as the sun sets and the DJ started spinning. Service was fast and friendly. Feature drinks are stellar. Not a lot of food options, but that charcuterie hit the spot. Note there is a flight of stairs you need to climb at the entrance.

We love gastown so we absolutely had to check this place out. We made a reservation prior which we’d recommend because this bar was packed. You can make a reservation by making a local donation, well worth it. We had so many cocktails we completely forgot what we ordered because each one was so good (see pics 😹). And even though our server was literally levitating, because he was so busy, it didn’t seem to faze him. My only disappointment was the menu. It’s basically meat, cheese, olives and bread. But our server made excellent recommendations when he saw my face and he even apologized. So sweet. And I thoroughly enjoyed my pound of butter with my 🍞 . I absolutely loved my window view and would probably come back just to sit and stare, as the bar and building is truly a sight to see.

Google
My partner and I were visiting from Toronto and The Diamond came highly recommended. We sat at the bar and were treated to great, unique cocktails and equally as great service! I could really tell that the bartenders cared about the creative process and attention to detail for each drink. Was fun to hear how they seem to specially develop their cocktail menu in house on pretty much a monthly basis! Will definitely be back and recommend to everyone :)

Google
Best cocktail bar I visited in Vancouver. Drinks tasted phenomenal, especially when I asked for a new twists to my drinks and my bartender mixed some awesome drinks. Sat at the bar watching the bartenders and barback go to work. It was a real pleasure to watch them mix drinks and chat with customers. Service was impeccable throughout. The price wasn't ridiculous either. Really happy with my experience here.

Google
This place makes the best Old Fashioned you'll ever try. It's been a while since I visited, September 2022, to be exact. But I figured I should leave a review since I've spoken highly of this place to friends, since. On a summer evening, this is the place to be. It was very relaxing to sit by an open window on a second floor bar and watch the busy Gastown street below. Really interesting little bar, knowledgeable bartenders, and high quality drinks. Next time I'm in Vancouver I will be in a hurry to come back to this place. I've tried many cocktail bars in my days and this one is certainly one of the best in Western Canada.

Google
Love the cocktails! They have so many and they all taste very good! Place is nice and love the atmosphere (A bit noisy for my taste tho) Music, in my perspective, do not fit the vibe of the bar I WILL COME AGAIN

Google
Ws went to the Diamond twice in search of the Elk Room for the speakeasy bar. On Tuesday, the room was not open so we just had cocktails in the main restaurant. We did ask the server if we could view it as we were not from Vancouver but was denied due to some furniture arrangements but in general the server was nice about it. For both times the service was great, cocktails were awesome and the music got you movin'. It was much busier when we went back on Thursday with the Elk Room open. The server and bar tender was super nice and made awesome cocktails. Will definitely go back if we were in town.

Yelp
This bar has a great energy and aesthetic for Gastown. I enjoyed the music they were playing and I enjoyed the view as this bar is on the second story. Fun fact: I got to watch a gentleman take off his sneakers off and sniff the inside like he was a sommelier for Nike. I found the Malibu cocktail very interesting and my Penicillin was made very well. Oh, and one of the bartenders looks like Peaches (it was awesome).

Yelp
We're here for vibes and only vibes. Slide into the speakeasy of gas town to send yourself back in time in these troubled days. Slide your self back in time to a self you never knew, a self you never had, a self you always wanted. A hot list of cocktails, a hot playlist of beats, and a hot and friendly crew of folks behind the bar. The diamond takes you back, and you may not want to return.

Yelp
Always a great time at the diamond. I love their cocktails and the delicious little snacks that pair so wonderfully. They were out of the vegan board, so I opted for the belgian black truffle pâté ($18). Ir was very flavourful and the pickles added a perfect crunch. Definitely go during happy hour ($4 off certain drinks from 6:00-7:30pm).
google avatar

Yelp
Decent but not worth waiting so come with a reservation! The vibe here is great with dim lighting and good window views of gas town. I see a lot of couples all the time so definitely a great date spot. The last time I walked in we waited for half an hour. The cocktails were a bit too strong for us. We like tasty cocktails! So I would come back but only with a reservation so to not wait. The kitchen closes a bit early at 9/10 so if you come late hours make sure you're not hungry!

Yelp
Really enjoyed my time here. The drinks was good and the service was even better! Had such a lovely time talking to our waiter. He was super friendly and helped us pick our drinks/snacks. The music can get loud but it's a fun place to go with friends and enjoy the night life.

Yelp
This is strictly a drink review, no food was involved, just booze, and more booze and a late night! I came here always knowing where this place is, but for you all that do not, it's practically the centre of Gastown, when you look out you will see Gassy Jack and the crazy traffic that seperates into a fork in the road, if you are around here, it's upstairs, you are not too far away. When I arrived, my friends were already there and had a pretty good table, right in the centre, and when you come in, you see this place has a good wooden look to it, a serious bar "you are gonna drink here" type of look that already has its hands on your wallet even before you have uttered a word to spend money and down the hatch on alcohol. I had their special 'Japanese Old Fashioned' here, and sure it came out to like $26 but was pretty good, as they have to prepare this you get a choice of a small chaser of beer or wine before your drink actually comes out. I had a few other drinks on this night and looking at what the others in my party had, this place knows that presentation is also key, as every drink came in a different type of glass to compliment the drink, from the glass to the color to the end taste there is something to say about a place that is confident serving you drinks at these prices, cause they know they can, and they know that people will come when people want a good experience with a good drink. This is definitely not a place for slamming back drinks before heading to the club, this place is more of you having the night here and this is the last plan, or the second last plan. Whether you are enjoying the decor... as I helped a few girls take pictures in the hallway going to the washroom as they thought the lighting and the brick wall, as I said you will enjoy the decor that you are in. You will probably have more than one drink here, and probably another good one depending on how you got here (drink responsibly everyone!). Well, come to think about it, I was here slamming down drinks as the party I was with decided to call some shots, round after round, and being here for a few hours it is definitely a different type of vibe, and one that is a happening place, the bill.... let's just say it was a good one but everyone was happy, the service was super attentive for our orders, asked us constantly if everything is going good, also had to move us cause our party ended up getting bigger by a few members. If you are in Gastown and need a higher end place to drink, definitely think of this place, it is not for the budget friendly, but if you want quality liquor you won't go wrong here, as for the food... who knows, all I know is this is a great place to drink.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've visited The Diamond and it did not disappoint! As other reviewers have noted, their main focus is truly on their cocktails - which I feel are, for the most part, reasonably priced when you consider the thought, craft, and ingredients that go into them. The snacks are good and made well enough to nibble on. We tried the flourless chocolate cake, which was nice. But again, the real stars are the cocktails and I would recommend going for dinner before or after. My experience with service ranged from enthusiastic and friendly from the bartender to curt but still very professional from the server. I arrived a bit early and they were kind enough to let me in (and let me know it was) 6 mins before official opening time. Thanks, guys! We made a reservation and I guess having arrived early, we were seated at an excellent corner table next to the windows. The washrooms have been nicely renovated with better lighting and colours since the last time I was here.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with my last experience at diamond. They've seemed to step it up since my last visit. The service was much less pretentious, and the drinks were worth what you paid. If they said it was boozy, it was boozy! We loved our server he was very very attentive, he was new, but very knowledgeable. Thanks for our great experience.

Yelp
Price/quality (3/4): They serve pretty good sushi, but cocktails are where they truly shine. Many of their cocktails have some nice, subtle flavors, though they don't exactly shy away from sweet drinks either. They do tend to be geared toward more experienced drinkers though, so even the sweeter drinks aren't syrupy. Service (1/1): Service is friendly and effective, though reservations are recommended on busy nights. Would I come here again: Yes

Yelp
I came here with high expectations but it was very short lived. We all got our water and unfortunately, one of the glasses had a massive bug in it. It was not a great first impression. We had a large table and were not told that there was a separate menu when we put our name down. I did not find the drinks special and did not like the options. We were very disappointed with going to the Diamond after hearing so many great things about this iconic Vancouver bar. I know the front person warned us about the heat but it was pretty unbearable. For a bar of this scale, they should invest in some AC - they've had this heat problem for several years now, and it's shocking they've done nothing about it. I will not recommend this bar as the first choice (or any choice) for people visiting. If you do come, make sure it's in the main area and not the hideaway.

Yelp
Pros: - sick playlist - great service - beautiful ppl - laidback space - Japanese cuisine - cocktails Cons: - line up can get kinda crazy - the music is a touch loud, which makes the patrons try to talk over the music, which makes you trying to talk over the patrons, who are talking over the music - there's def better Japanese restaurants to dine at, but the trade off is cocktails

Yelp
I loves this hidden little gem! The staff was great, the drinks were fast, and the sushi looked great! Two people had ordered the sushi but it was too late for it to be ordered! I was kind of sad, but happy I had been eating all day! I got my drink which was a smokey mezcal and some lemon hitters something and wasn't a fan at all! My friend for this egg yolk, raspberry vodka, which is a top shelf gold vodka, therefore it was 15 bucks! My other friend had a delicious gin drink round the table with cheers we go! We were here for a girls night and was in and out which was perfect to start our night! I ended up getting some wine as I want a fan of My drink at all!

Yelp
This was my second time at the Diamond, but first time having dinner in addition to cocktails. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive and we were all happy with our food. Myself and 2 girlfriends each ordered the 3 course meal. The chorizo flatbread to start was delicious, and the slow cooke short rib was to die for. We were all slightly disappointed with our desserts though... left a little to be desired after the first two courses were so good. Overall, I love the atmosphere and the service was great. The cocktails are worth the prices they charge. Would not hesitate to recommend The Diamond in the future.

Yelp
Awesome place for a drink on Monday night. Yep, you heard me right, Monday night. Happy hour from 5.30 to 7.30pm. $4 off for certain drinks on the first page. None of them was what I wanted. I'd give the place a 5 star for ambience except the music was a lil too loud and I was literally yelling while talking to my Girlfriend. It was a fun night out on a Monday night, not too crowded and we had fun! I knew this place usually turned people down on a busy Friday night, been there done that. I think the ambiance is perfect for a casual drinks on any weekday evenings. Foggy Connor was not as impressive as it seemed, sadly. Negroni was fine, but I had better negroni somewhere else. So, all in all, I would be here for HH or a quiet night out.

Yelp
Amazing! I had not heard about The Diamond until I was invited to be a guest at my friends' wedding. I don't know if events of our size are a common occurrence at The Diamond but the staff did a fantastic job so I got the impression it was not their first rodeo. I had looked at the menu online to get an idea of what type of food they serve. I was happy to find that we were being treated to a selection of the house specialties. Everything we had was delicious and I will definitely be back to try more! My favourite was probably the Butternut Squash Flatbread but everything was excellent so it's difficult to decide on just one favourite. For those who enjoy a fancy cocktail or seven, the drink menu was thoughtful and had something for everyone. If it wasn't already clear, I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We were on our way to Rodney's for some oysters but they had an hour wait. So I suggested to my husband to go to The Diamond. It's been a while since I've been here but they never disappoint! It was a bit early in the night (around 6:30) so we were able to get a table right away. I decided to get the jade statue which was light and refreshing. My husband had the smoke and mirrors. When his came out the waitress had it on its own dish and when she flipped the glass up a plume of smoke came out! She then poured the drink into the glass and left the dish of glowing embers at the table with us. It was such a great way to serve a drink! And it was delicious as well. The servers were very attentive and pleasant too. The view is also one of the best things about the place if you do manage to snag a window seat. Definitely one of my favourite places in Vancouver for cocktails

Yelp
It's time for an updated review of The Diamond. It's been seven years since my last review, and I must say, it still has one of the most beautiful spaces in Vancouver. Hidden away on the second floor in the heart of Gastown, you are whisked away into an oasis upon entering. I've been here twice in the last month. Once, for late night drinks in the back room, it's like being in a secret bar. More recently, I've discovered that Kris Barnholden (latest post at Bows & Arrows), is now at the Diamond. Of course, I had to come see what was in store! He is a true talent as the kitchen doesn't have ventilation, so there is no grill here. He uses sous vide, two induction burners and a combi-oven to create some magical dishes. We shared a couple of dishes, starting with a salt cod brandade. It's a delicious creamy emulsion of salt cod and olive oil, served with fresh crispy potato chips. Next, we had the flatbread with white anchovy and tomato. I loved the crust of this flatbread- crispy and thin, yet it also has the flakiness of a biscuit. The tomato was delicious. I think he may sous-vide the tomato, and it was kept to an interesting texture. The flavour of the fresh tomato really stood out. For a heavier dish, we opted for the smoked lamb ragu, with porcini mushrooms, polenta, gremolata. Roasted beets, black garlic, mistuke mushrooms, puffed wild rice. This was one of the most unique dishes. A black garlic vinegarette covers the cold beets and mushrooms. I love the use of the puffed wild rice, not only does it add texture but it works with the mushrooms and beets to add an earthy flavour. I've also tried the dessert, which had some intriguing ingredients: Chamomile cream, honey almond cake, and Chartreuse apples. This was definitely interesting, the chamomile cream with the honey almond cake goes well together. The cake is in small cubes rather than one large piece of cake, which I liked. Would definitely return to try more off the menu!!

Yelp
My favourite bar in gastown. Cocktails are very delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend you to sit on the bar, then you get your drinks faster because it's pretty busy place.

Yelp
The lovely place is for who would like to come for a small drink and some snack food. They do have a really good cocktail list. We seat at the bar that day, the bartender who served us was really knowledgeable about their drink menu. He also introduced drinks to us according to our preferences. Definitely a place for you who wanna be relax after work, or gathering with friends or for tourists who wanna enjoyed the night life in Vancouver.

Yelp
5 stars for awesome hospitality and deliciously creative cocktails. I came into The Diamond last night after a big event and was pleasantly surprised. We came in around 9:30-10ish and were able to snag a table for 8 right away. After we climbed the stairs to the second floor, the hostess led us to a big booth towards the back right next to the bar. It was cozy, private, and perfect for our group. The bartender came over to us and right away I asked him what his favourite drink was. He said The Lion's Tail (kind of like a whiskey sour) - it sounded delicious so I decided to get that. A few more rounds of this later, and I was feeling fan-tas-tic. It was the perfect mix between bourbon and sweet - I loved it. Our visit here was strictly for cocktails, so I'd love to come back soon to try some of their snacks and other drinks, since that's what they're known for. The space itself is gorgeous. Brick walls, dim lighting, dark decor, and a view of Gastown. Perfect spot for a date night, birthday party, or friends night out. I'll definitely be back sooner rather than later.

Yelp
Really a hip and trendy place that overlooks the gas town area. Brick walls and old windows throughout the establishment. We tried their wonderful cocktails and I can say they where all great. We also had a spicy tuna roll and it was incredible. Prices are what you would expect to pay. I would definitely recommend the Diamond.

Yelp
Huge s/o to my girl Liana on the bar! She's my favorite bartender in the city and she does her cocktails on point. The menu is legit with great drinks that resemble a little something from city to city. This bar is great to go solo or even with a group of friends after a long day at work or Friday nights! I love the dark ambiance with music that'll have your head bouncing. I definitely recommend the Buck Buck Mule which is a take on your regular Moscow mule but with fresh cucumber twists and another type of ginger beer that gives this spicy bite. It's honestly the main ingredient which gives off the strong taste. I also recommend their California Chrome which has bitters and grapefruit with good quality bourbon. This is also one of my faves. If you're undecided and need help, let Liana know what you're feeling and she'll fix you up something great! I wanted something that resembles an Old-Fashioned and she fixed me up something similar but her take! It tasted fabulous! Thanks Liana for being great!!

Yelp
This is a solid 3.5 stars. A very nice spot, in a central Gastown location. Enjoyed a window seat with my friend which gave us a view of the restaurant across the street and a movie being filmed along an adjoining road. We each had a couple drinks--they have one red wine option on tap, which is BC made and very good. Though I don't eat a lot of seafood, the menu is primarily seafood oriented, so I opted for the salad with raw fish on top (much bigger than anticipated) and the edamame, which were pretty standard, but delicious and salted well. My friend enjoyed the tuna tartare which was served with endive as shells.

Yelp
Why do people keep coming here? Does service and the taste of the drinks get better later on at night? I really doubt it. Came in for a couple of cocktails pre-dinner and only stayed for one. Drinks are pretty expensive for really only kind of ok taste. Of the 3 cocktails that ended up being ordered only one tasted sort of ok. I understand you can make a bad cocktail choice but for 3 of us to do so? Execution was terrible but at least they looked pretty. Also felt the waitress really couldn't have cared if anyone ever ordered anything from her. Very slack service, no smile or really facial expression beyond boredom. No thank you, I will spend my money at one of a ton of great options that are not The Diamond. I would encourage you to do the same.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin with this place. Their staff, their vibe, THEIR MUSIC, THEIR COCKTAILS. I want to write a love letter, but I won't. My friends and I initially came across The Diamond after years of sitting at Chill Winstons (also an amazing place for cocktails and quaint meals). We were getting too used to the drinks and scene at Chill, and saw The Diamond across the street. I don't know why it took us so long to find the door, but the entry into the bar is between the hole in the wall pizza shop, and the funky vintage store. What I LOVE about The Diamond is their Old Fashioned. They not only give you a choice of a dainty bubbly or Sapporo while you wait for the real deal to be made with love, but when that cocktail comes out, it's the best thing you will ever taste on your tongue. Your body and mind will love you for the moment, but be careful because your wallet - and your sober self the next morning after having 4 of these - will hate you; they're addictive. I brought a friend from New York who is a self proclaimed whiskey connoisseur to The Diamond, and he was speechless. The harmonious flavour and perfect temperature of the cocktail make it incredibly difficult for you to not shed a joyous tear. One thing that confuses me is that Yelp is saying The Diamond is Mexican. I don't think they're Mexican at all.. Maybe I've missed some parts of their menu, but all I've seen every time I went were sushi and mainly Japanese options.

Yelp
Great spot for cocktails. Did not get food here, but the drinks, service and DJ were all on point. Highly recommend if you are in the Gastown area of Vancouver. Had the Cedar Sazerac and Message in a Bottle and both were great.

Yelp
I'm from SF where there's some law about having businesses on the second floor, so it was nice and refreshing to be able to go to a bar that's upstairs on my visit to Vancouver - despite the rain and crappy weather that night, it offered a nice view of the street and made you feel warm and cozy inside. I liked the exposed brick walls & good vibe. There are lots of seating options, from smaller tables by the windows to several long, communal tables. However, the speakers were WAY too loud and at that volume had a terrible sound quality. Our server was nice, suggested some good drinks, and while she was polite, was just a little bit brusque. They said it would be a 25 minute wait around midnight for 3 of us on that rainy Saturday around 11pm, but after only about 5 minutes, a couple tables had already cleared off. * Perfect storm (off-menu: mezcal, citrus flavors) - 4 stars A nice mezcal/refreshing drink, but if I'm being picky, this was a little too boozy for me. * Penicillin - 4 stars (Blended scotch, Peated scotch, Ginger, Lemon, Honey. $12) Love the smoky peated scotch! I'm not much of a scotch drinker, but that mixed with the ginger/lemon (didn't taste the honey so much) made me really like this. But only enough to try several sips of my bf's - if I'd gotten this for myself, I don't think I could drink it! (Lightweight here.) * New Toronto - 3.5 stars (Bourbon, Italian vermouth, Fernet Branca, Honey, Lemon twist. $12) A more classic scotch drink, not as unique in flavor as the penicillin. Yelp
We wanted to hang out in Gastown for the night! Mainly for cocktails. This place had everything going. Great cocktails and service. We waiting for 20 mins for a table, it was worth it.

Yelp
Atmosphere is not bad. Service is good. But the bar assigned seating has to go. It's a bar/lounge. You're supposed be able to mingle and socialize. Once you sit on the bar there's not getting up or standing up. If you stand up from you chair for more than 5 second you get yelled at from the bartender: "can you please sit so the waitress can go by?" @Diamond, take notes from literally ANY. OTHER. BAR. In the world.

Yelp
Woohoo! As good as it gets! Amazing drinks. Wish I could visit more often. Bartenders were very nice and helpful when looking at the amazing menu.

Yelp
This place has drinks that are out of this world. My boyfriend and I stayed in Vancouver for 3 days, and we decided to come back here twice! I totally suggest a visit. There are window views that are very romantic for a date night. We did not eat, so I cannot comment on the food, but drinks were all amazing. I ordered multiple things, and I really enjoyed all of them. My favorite was the buck buck mule. It was flavorful and tasted like cucumbers, so it was very refreshing. My boyfriend ordered the waterway (I believe). It has egg white in it. No one does that in the states so we were both very interested. It was great! He ordered it both times we went. If you are in the area, I highly suggest coming in for a drink! It is located just up the stairs.

Yelp
This place used to be the best! It has a great atmosphere, great lighting, great playlist. It used to have a great menu, and tonight was a disappointment. The menu is mah.... we had the octopus which was a can of tomato sauce and octopus. We had a chorizo flat bread which was fine... nothing great about it, and a tomato salad which was ....fine.we sent back the over cooked salmon flat bread. All in all we had fun but I hit up Pizza Garden on my way home.

Yelp
I've been here for cocktails before and had a nice time, but the reservation system is RIDICULOUS and because of that I won't be back. They let you reserve on Open Table, but you can't modify or cancel your reservation. It says to call the restaurant but per their website they DONT HAVE A PHONE. Like I said, ridiculous. I sent them an email to cancel, but they didn't reply, and then they reported me to Open Table for not showing up for my reservation. I'm not really sure what else I could have done apart from go down their in person to tell them I wouldn't be coming. To top it all off, they kept my deposit and it was my birthday.

Yelp
Katrina H and I came here on a pleasant Tuesday evening last week and had a lovely experience. I arrived early and was able to snag a window table overlooking the square - perfect for my Vancouver novice guest to get a good peek over the prettiness! We stayed until the fairy lights came on which gave the whole square a magical feel, and by extension the Diamond as well. Our server was very attentive up until the very end when it started getting busier - then we did have to ask a couple of times for our bill. Not a big deal, though. We ordered a couple of cocktails and they were both great - I started with a Greenwich Sour, which was good if a little sweeter than I'm used to, and followed that up with a Margarita, which was a little less strong than I make them (but I make them STRONG!) Both were good, and Katrina liked her choices too. We ordered guacamole as a snack before dinner, and it was quite good. I found it a little over-limed so my mouth was a bit sore by the end! The nice thing was that our server brought us over another bowl of chips when ours was done so we could actually finish the guac - very considerate! The space is gorgeous, cosy, and chic, and the music made it feel like a hip (hop) lounge. It was super chill while we were there, but more people were arriving as we left and I could see it getting pretty fun and rowdy on a busy night. On a pedantic note, I'm really glad they replaced their grammatically incorrect neon sign on the way out - thank you!! The Diamond is a great spot to come and get a cocktail and a snack, and is somewhere that will always be in my repertoire.

Yelp
The best drinks in Gastown. Expensive, but high class, lounge cocktails / drinks. Great place to actually talk with your friends or date. They just added sushi, which I haven't tried but looks great. The staff here is amazingly cool, great people. Avoid this place on Friday/Saturday nights when its extremely packed and you won't be disappointed. Definitely a cool spot for "locals" or G town residents during the week.

Yelp
A fun spot for happy hour cocktails. Located upstairs in the Gaslight district, it's nice to escape the bustle of the sidewalk. We had two drinks each here; the happy hour drinks were Aperol cocktails, and the regular cocktail menu was interesting.

Yelp
We were there to celebrate a friend's bday, when we arrived to this "restaurant" we realized it was more of a pub and the Japanese food wasn't fresh nor authentic, so we were slightly disappointed, however, if you wanna chill w some friends just for drinks it's definitely a nice place. PS the wait for the servers and food is relatively long and one of the plates that's worth a try is their cheese and charcuterie board!

Yelp
This place is known primarily for their cocktails, which is why we decided to check it out for some late night drinks. The ambiance is great - really gives me the Great Gatsby vibes. Their COVID precautions are commendable - we sat at the bar, and there were plastic screens every few chairs so we felt safe. The bartender clearly knew his craft well, and was more than happy to answer our questions. On to the drinks - they are priced very well. At the same time, you get what you pay for - solid drinks that you can sip on, but they don't really stand out in the world of high-end craft cocktails. We got the Hemingway Daiquiri and the Penicillin, and I asked the bartender to make a Last Word (off-menu). The Penicillin was well-balanced and flavourful, but the Daiquiri did not have any balance whatsoever. The Last Word was standard, but not memorable. Overall, this place is great for the value and an awesome place to take your friends if you're just getting started into cocktails. 3/5.

Yelp
I'm still a big fan of The Diamond! They've changed up a few things over the years. Gone are the days of Mexican fare, hello sushi. Honestly, I've never tried the food here before, it's really all about the DRINKS. They've opened up the back room with large barn-style doors to the main room. It used to have a more "speak easy" feel to it and felt like more of a hidden gem than it does now. The back room is still my favourite place to be. Keep pumpin' out those 90s jams and you've got our attention. The drinks are boozy and delicious. Great spot to chill and talk with friends, the music is at a tolerable volume (I must be getting old.) Careful of those stairs going down (I've heard too many drunken horror stories.) Cheers!

Yelp
I've come here a few times with various people and neither me nor anyone else I've brought have ever been disappointed here! I am talking about solely drinks here as I've never had any food at The Diamond - but the drinks, while more on the expensive side, are always On Point! Super alcoholic and super delicious - well worth the price. Great candlelit atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious and alcoholic drinks, and open until late - this place has been at the top of my list for favourite drinking locations since I've first been there and has stayed at the top ever since!

Yelp
Limited happy hour option I was only there for their happy hour, therefore I cannot comment on their regular menu. The happy hour option was literarily just one drink.... It tasted good, but given the completion around that area, I would like to see the diamond up their game

Yelp
With long picnic tables made for sharing with friends and strangers, this friendly Gastown hot spot offers hand-crafted cocktails, a small share-plate menu and a great view of Gassy Jack and the Maple Tree Square. I`ve been for dinner once and bar-hopped here on a few occasions. It`s atmosphere is lively, but I can`t say anything really stands out for me. What I've tried: Drink-wise: - Pink Lady. Well-made, but no zip or zang to it. - Vesper. Very good. - Bicicletta #2. Should have known better not to go for the Campari since I only enjoy it in small doses Food-wise: - Rock cod sub ($12), Tuna Tartare ($13), Crab cakes ($13 for 3-pieces) - all just "good." For such a small menu, I`m surprised the menu doesn't evolve seasonally. What`s more: - Doubles as a bartending school by day - Drink menu ranges from $9-14 - Busy on weekends - Similar vibe: Alibi Room, Irish Heather Long Table Series

Yelp
And then just when I thought they couldn't outdo themselves, I pop one of The Diamond's stuffed baby squids in my mouth. Stuffed with peanut pesto, I now know to save some room in my liquid filled tummy for yummy late night treats! Gourmet snacks FTW!

Yelp
Somehow, stressful work weeks always lead me to the Diamond. Maybe it is the name..... oh so glamourous and a girl's best friend. Maybe the location - tucked upstairs across from the circle across from chill winston where lots of buzz and traffic is happening Maybe it's the drinks - because they are so craft and don't seem too expensive Maybe it's the table - I don't think I have ever sat at any other table other than the first one closest to the high top - coincidental reasons, not by selection. Maybe it's the food because the peking duck and chicken sub is always calling my name (although I didn't get it tonight). Whatever the case, I am here after a rough week. Their menu has changed... and apparently for the second time (maybe I haven't had too many rough weeks after all). I ordered 3 drinks throughout the night.. one champagne one with mango and basil..similar to the previous canteloupe one, but this one i liked a bit better. Then I ordered a custom order drink. There was earl grey infused vodka on the menu, but i didn't like what it was combined with so I asked if they could make it with baileys - FROM THE YELP EVENT (thanks Crystal). What they did was use EG vodka + baileys with some sugar, blended with ice. refreshingly delicious! Last drink I ordered the biciletta - very nice indeed. Food is where it gets you. Small plates, low prices, sharing = more food! edamame, olives, peanuts, gyoza, short rib sub - yes that was new and it was super juicy with panko onions... i liked the peking duck chicken sub better.... ......and the tri coloured beet salad with pickled egg and mayo and bread crumbs. I've always liked it. There are desserts on the menu now! Tapioco pudding and panna cotta. Although tempting but i felt like apple pie (what else is new). At the end of the night, everyone is happy and full of alcohol. The bill came to the usual - approx $60 per person. Not cheap, but I think I deserve it once in a while.

Yelp
Leanna the bartender is amazing. Mixes up some great cocktails. Hung out here for two hours to look over gastown. Fabulous drinks, fabulous atmosphere
